I have purchased this book many many times. It is a powerful little book which will touch everyone who reads it. I gave this book to my brother who was battling cancer. In his lasts days he would pick up this little book and read it and with his highlighter he highlighted page 90-91 titled I am complete. This gave our family assurance of his salvation. It was a beautiful moment my family shall always cherish. This is a wonderful book packed full of anointed messages which will bless all who read it. This is an interesting review of the fashions of the sixties. The designs are beautifully drawn and the colors are vivid.
While I like the book, I don't think the costumes selected truly reflect the mood of the decade. There are too many "doll-like" outfits ( ruffles, flowers, etc), and not enough focus on the revolutionary changes in fashion during the period. The last plate representing the end of the decade does not give the sense of the ethnic influence on the late sixties which followed on to the seventies.
The dolls themselves are gorgeous, with one looking like an East Coast sophisticate while the other looks like a Californian beach baby.

deserved award nominee.......2004-02-18

The Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America have nominated "Of a Sweet Slow Dance in the Wake of Temporary Dogs" by Adam-Troy Castro for a Nebula Award for Best Novelette (the winners will be announced in April 2004). It deserves to win -- in fact, all the novelettes in this book are worthy of award consideration.

Imagine this..........2003-12-10

Very entertaining. Especially the Robinson Caruso-esqe "The Thalatta Thesis" by Charles L. Harness. I could've read an entire novels worth of this tale.

"Inescapable Justice" by Aaron Rosenberg is an interesting and unique look at the super-hero genre.

Craig Shaw Gardeners "A Planet Called Elvis" is a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there, thank you very much.

"Next Year in Jerusalem" by Harry Turtledove and "Of a Sweet Slow Dance in the Wake of Temporary Dogs" by Adam Troy Castro are thought provoking tales of war and peace.

All in all, an excellent anthology thats well worth your time and money.

Missing Link.......2003-12-05

Too many anthologies these days focus on short stories, with fewer and fewer outlets for longer pieces. Not anymore. Imaginings is a fine new anthology of longer short fiction.

Standout stories include "Walking Contradiction" by Nancy Jane Moore. In a world where, several generations previously, scientists created a new gender with both male and female sex organs and reproductive systems (called ambigendered and able to become pregnant and impregnate others), an ambigendered detective is hired to find a young man allegedly taken in by a cult that removes the genitalia of its members. And the detective's estranged offspring is coming to visit. The story explores racism, gender, mother-father-hood, focusing on what it means to be human. Dan Pearlman's "Great White Hope" concerns and ill-fated trip to Mexico for a young married couple and a mirror. Is aging boxer Frank Moran a con artist? Or shaman? Sometimes it's hard to tell.

The book is a series of lightweight barbs and jabs at aging and women who attempt to grow old with passive submission. It was, for me, a waste of money. I thought it would be a self-help book, full of advice and direction. Instead, full-page cartoon-like drawings were edited with short, caustic comments aimed at aging and the aged. I found it hurtful, both to me and to my memories of my grandmothers and mother.

I found much of this book to be too limiting. I believe that, at 50, we should have fewer limits -- not more.

This book is poignant, insightful and charming. Wendy Crisp has given me a humerous roadmap to direct me through my aging journey. I agree with her that after 50 we shouldnt have to " drink light beer, or share bathrooms or bank accounts." This book makes a wonderful birthday present. I have read it many times, and am now giving it to friends.

This serves its purpose very successfully! Details about the guild, its trade, more cultural details about everything it deals. And most of all, it gives much information about the different types of money (which is not included in any other supplement).

A must if your game is dealing much with money, resources, influence and such.

I bought that book only beacause it's seems quite interresting, all the guild organisation explanation in one book for around 20 box. Well It's really more than what I tought. All about drugs and slaves and the complete hierarchy, history and methods used by the Guild. It's not a must but quite interresting!!

A Great Book on Leadership.......2007-08-28

Kelly writes in a compelling way creating parallells and connections between him winning the various tasks on The Apprentice and his military experience. I like his style and his sense of taking responsibility even when things go wrong. Humility is deifinetely a trait a leader must develop!

I found the book a pleasant read and I liked the fact Kelly was talking a lot about the lessons he learnt in life and how these experiences enabled him to move on.

Military Slant Surprisingly Interesting.......2007-01-30

I grew up with some idea of what military life was like due to my Dad being in the Navy - but I must admit it's never held a lot of interest for me. Reading Kelly's book did actually shed a whole new light on what advantages military service can bring to other aspects of someone's life. The principles that are discussed in the book (Duty, Impeccability, Passion, Perseverance, Planning, Teamwork, Loyalty, Flexibility, Selfless Service and Integrity) are all really worthy reading for anyone in business and the military slant I found surprisingly gave it more bite and interest.

This is a great book that draws comparisons between Kelly's military service and his rise through the entrepreneurial ranks. I know Kelly personally, and he is not only a successfull businessman, he is also a devout humanitarian. Highly recommended!

A very good book for the military or business leader.......2006-09-10

This book by Apprentice winner Kelly Perdew is a worthwhile read. Written in the style of many military-business leadership books, it swtiches back and forth between Perdew's Apprentice exploits and anecdotes from great military veterans turned business leaders. The stories about Perdew's career, Apprentice tasks, and about others are both inspirational and entertaining. I am giving 4 stars because he talks about principles, but does not go deep into the reader's application of them.

Nevertheless, this is a worthwhile read for both the Army or corporate officer.

Are you in command?.......2006-04-19

I recently purchased "Take Command" for a college course. I chose this book because I am a fan of the television show "The Apprentice." I could not have picked a better book to read before I graduate and re-enter the business world.

The ten principles that Kelly Perdew learned while attending West Point can be used by anyone who wants to get the most out of life. Duty, Impeccability, Passion, Perserverance, Planning, Teamwork, Loyalty, Flexibility, Selfless Service and Integrity. I plan to use these principle's to be a strong leader in everything I do.

I always wondered how I would have handled military training. Kelly details how physical strength is only a small part of it.
I was very impressed with how Kelly got into West Point, as well as what it took to graduate. His business experience explains how to handle a loss and come back and do things better. The experience this guy has at such a young age is unbelievable!

If you are just looking for a college, read this book! If you are graduating and looking for a job, read this book! If you have been working for ten or twenty years, read this book! "Take Command" includes great stories about Donald Trump, Ross Perot and Marsha Evans to name a few. This book will teach you to be prepared for anything and to perform well under pressure or during a crisis.

Kelly Perdew details how the ten principles became second nature during his military training. Anyone can learn and use the ten principles. If you want to challenge yourself to be a strong leader in business and life, "Take Command" will put you in a position to succeed.
