I enjoyed this book tremendously. It offers a lot of tips and suggestions for dressing appropriately in the workplace. I liked the fact that the author offers suggestions for dressing professionally on a budget and takes a realistic approach for the average woman.

Another great Foxtrot. Its creator retired while he still had his edge and this book displays every bit of his wit. RIP Roger Foxx and family - and iguana. Buy this before they all disappear.
I'll Give Up My FoxTrot When Pigs Fly.......2007-02-17
I have been a faithful FoxTrot reader for years. Roger, Andy and their kids Peter, Paige and Jason are always good for a reality check with a large dose of laughter. I've got two girls and let me tell you, I see a lot of my kids in Paige with, I believe, even a healthy dose of Jason thrown in. And they have Peter's bottomless stomach. Of course, they're faithful FoxTrot readers too. I used to read the strip to them, explain what was going on, but now they get it just fine and we three all laugh together. Then my girls try and explain the strip to their dad, who pretends he doesn't get it.
The FoxTrot folks are a great family, one we sort of got used to checking up on every day, so we took the news that Mr. Amend was going to cease daily distribution of his wonderfully funny people and turn his strip to Sunday only, with a bit of sadness. Still, we have these terrific FoxTrot books to keep us going with our FoxTrot fix. Mr. Amend is to be commended for his great gift to our culture and his great gift to so many lives. I truly believe a laugh a day, helps keep the blues away and the FoxTrot gang are always good for a laugh. Heck there are a lot of laughs in the FoxTrot books. I know, I have them all and I am, along with my girls and my hubby dear, eagerly awaiting the next one.
Oh yes, I forgot to mention, we don't have an iguana, but my girls do have a pet gecko and, you guessed it, his name is Quincy.
Eight Yards Down and Out. Foxtrot, All Great!.......2007-01-20
I've been a Foxtrot reader for a long time and personally I think there is something suspiciously wrong with people who don't find Bill Amend's characters funny as all get out. If you want a good laugh, check out Bill in your local newspaper, or better yet, get one of the Foxtrot books. They are all great, really, they are.
Like many of Mr. Amend's fans I'm a bit disappointed he's switching his strip to Sunday-only, but fortunately I can still read him daily in the Foxtrot books. Get them one and all and you can keep right on a laughing.

I've always been a good fan of foxtrot, so I found this book quite good. Its kinda short though, and you finish it in about a half-hour to an hour. If you like long books, this wouldn't be to fun for you.

I was unfamiliar with Barber's works and from the title expected the book to accompany my Mus 312 class on Baroque Music History and focus completely on that. (whoops) The book's real goal is a comical approach to music history in its entirety. None the less, I still read the book and enjoyed it immensely. I wish I would have had this (and now Barber's other books which I also highly recommend) for my Mus 100 class (Introduction to Music Masterpieces). Barber's books take the information a textbook offer in an easygoing and funny way. Had my professor assigned all of Barber's Music History books together instead of a normal textbook for an Introduction to Music History, I would have left with the same knowledge a textbook offers but having enjoyed many more laughs along the way. Informative yet funny, how can you lose with that?

David Barber wrote Bach beethoven and the Boys some years ago. Since then he has added When the Fat Lady sings and even more recently If it Ain't BAroque.
While the first book metioned deals with Music History as a history of personae, here composers in the newer book he covers the same territory from another angle of view. This Music history is compiled from Genres. It was hardly evitable to tell some tales he had told again and all in all it is funny and instructive. Only for readers knowing the former two books some jokes were rubbed out already.

In Black City Cinema, Paula Massood shows how popular films reflected the massive social changes that resulted from the Great Migration of African Americans from the rural South to cities in the North, West, and Mid-West during the first three decades of the twentieth century. By the onset of the Depression, the Black population had become primarily urban, transforming individual lives as well as urban experience and culture.
Massood probes into the relationship of place and time, showing how urban settings became an intrinsic element of African American film as Black people became more firmly rooted in urban spaces and more visible as historical and political subjects. Illuminating the intersections of film, history, politics, and urban discourse, she considers the chief genres of African American and Hollywood narrative film: the black cast musicals of the 1920s and the "race" films of the early sound era to blaxploitation and hood films, as well as the work of Spike Lee toward the end of the century. As it examines such a wide range of films over much of the twentieth century, this book offers a unique map of Black representations in film.

This book will improve your candlestick skills and help improve your trading success if combined with other indicators. The book is really like a textbook with questions and tests after each chapter so if you are expecting a spoonfeeding course then you might be disappointed because you have to do some homework and really practice with this book.

Since I becmae interested in trading stocks in October of 2006 this was the first book that I purchased dealing with technical analysis and charts. I could not be more happy with my choice. The quizes at the end of each chapter help to cement the new information into your memory. Even though my strategies have "evolved" beyond looking through charts solely for candlestick patterns, they are still an invaluable tool and can provide great insight. I highly recommend this book.
Very Comprehensive in a Text Format.......2007-02-13
I really liked the fact that this was in a text format with questions as well as answers provided. The title says "Course" and I believe that is exactly what it is. It provides a lot of detail in such a short span of just over 200 pages. The question and answer format really helps to cement the content. As other reviewers have indicated, there was a lot of page turning back and forth to find the right chart to go with the right question but there are plenty of charts to support the material provided. I found it was just what I was looking for as a formal introduction to candlesticks from someone definitely in the know.
