                  I bought "I Am Curious Yellow" at an old book store for a buck. The book (or film outline) contains beautiful yet erotic B&W stills from the movie itself. In addition, there is an extensive transcript for the US District obscenity trial that the film had incited -- remember, this was officially the first film with male frontal nudity as well as graphic sex. The court transcript features several film critics and writers speaking on behalf of the film, which includes the famous author Norman Mailer.

                  Although sometimes a bit far-fetched (the story and it's character's motives), the film presents an interesting statement on moralism vs. politics. The story is set in 1968 Sweden during the decline of the Civil Rights Movement, notably, King's assassination. This tragic spirit was definitely felt by the people of Sweden as well as by the film's heroine. This dismal state of mind also has an affect on the main character's personal affairs. The film and the book "I am Curious" presents many straight-faced yet intriguing concepts of spiritual regeneration, wayward relations, Reichian beliefs, and feminine individualism; ideas that were important in the 1960's.

                  I enjoyed this book all in one night (pages under 150, and quick reading) and then rented the movie which I thought was also well conceived. However, this book is hard to find (coincidental luck on my part) and may be out-of-print. Nevertheless, if you see a copy, grab it!

                  Trivia: there is a sequel to the film "I am Curious (Yellow)": "I am Curious (Blue)." The colors of the title represent the colors of the Swedish flag. However, I doubt that they made a book to the film, considering that "(Yellow)" caused such an uproar.

                  Overall, "I am Curious (Yellow)" is a part of the pantheon of influential cinema and the book and the film should not be missed.

                  One of the most controversial of censorship issues, Curious won a major legal battle the same year that Hollywood Production Code acknowledged a need for adult rating as "X". Originally this art film was placed in the same category as "Debbie Does Dallas", but don't expect anything of that sort if you purchase it.

                  I am Curious, Yellow is the story of political coming of age of a young woman in Sweden in the late 1960's as a whirlwind of change was entering their system: spiritually, sexually, in the military and in the area of feminism/women entering the work force.

                  It's a really valid era piece, though its artistic merit is going to be up to the individual. It's a mature read, but not quite as mature as the court battle Grove press had to fight for the United States public to read/view it would lead many to believe.

                  Ingmar Bergeman this is definatley NOT, though Curious does deserve to be remembered.

                                    I bought this book around ten years ago now, at a performance of "Buddy" the musical in London England. I always love to sing along, not always in tune! So I thought this the perfect book. It doesn't have all Buddys songs in it, but is an enjoyable and interesting book for new and old fans alike, with lots of interesting background information. As I am not a muscian the sheet music means nothing to me, but it came in useful when I married as my wife Ellen and I wanted True Love Ways played on the organ at our wedding. An enjoyable book go buy it!

                                    I absolutely revere Buddy Holly. this book, however, fell short. I was a little disappointed with the tablatures. The songs are not transcribed in keys Holly used. If this was done to make the songs easier to play, a retranscription might be understandable. However, fairly simple songs are actually made somewhat difficult. An example is Peggy Sue. The song consists of a total of four chords in the key of E. Here, it is in the key of G and somehow there are five chords including two 7ths. Peggy Sue, as played by Holly has no 7ths. Not Fade Away is also a bit convoluted and transcribed in a more difficult key of E flat rather than the original (and easier to play) key of E. I was hoping to learn some other Holly songs but I can only pick out a couple from this book since the transcription is so convoluted. Having said all this, I enjoyed the photos and background material.

                                    I purchased this book hoping for transcriptions of my favorite Buddy Holly songs. I was very disappointed. Many sections of the songs are missing. Most songs only have about 60% of the song.

                                    I have this book and it is a must for any Buddy Holly Fan. The book has the words and music to one of Rock and Roll's stars and artist who shaped Rock and Roll Music. If you have not yet bought this book, it is priced just right and if you plan on getting it, get it from Amazon!! The book also has some nice stories about Buddy's career and shows some nice photgraphs of Buddy with his wife and the Crickets. The songs in this book are so good. You have to get it!! Order it now!!!!

                                    I have this music book and it is a must for anyone who enjoys Buddy Holly's music. The songs are pretty much the extent to what Buddy Holly recorded, and the chords are easy to follow. The sheet music is for piano or guitar. If you are just learning to play guitar, this book will help you learn rhythm guitar as you can play along with the records. You won't be sorry. I give it five stars plus!!!!!

According to former marketing exec Emanuel Rosen, they all became successful not through traditional advertising or marketing routes, but through "buzz," that semitangible process through which information and commentary jump from one brain or mouth to another.                                       The Anatomy of Buzz is divided into three parts.

                                      How Buzz Spreads: The first section describes the huge social networks to which we all belong and what we know about how buzz spreads through them.

                                      Success in the Networks: The second section identifies two factors that need to be there for buzz to spread. First, the product must be "contagious" in some way. For example, the game Trivial Pursuit was contagious because people who played it were compelled to demonstrate their knowledge to others. But contagion needs to be accelerated. That's the second factor. The marketers of this game executed a massive grassroots campaign that let people in numerous social networks get "infected" by the game and tell others.

                                      Stimulating Buzz: The third part of the book describes techniques that companies have used to encourage their customers to talk. How BMW created buzz about the Z3 Roadster through a "sneak preview" in a James Bond movie. How the founders of Powerbar spread the word about their energy food by working with "network hubs" such as coaches and leading athletes.

                                      Have a great product (there is no substitute), identify the information hubs, seed far and wide, try to start little fires everywhere, and never give up - that's Emanuel Rosen's advice for creating buzz. The book is a light introduction to this topic, and deserves a spot on your reading list if you want to learn about the subject. However, it does feel outdated and you have to take this into account when you read it - YouTube, FaceBook, etc. have changed the rules of the game significantly. For a more recent, and dare I say, more useful read, be sure to check out Buzzmarketing by Mark Hughes.

                                      Marketing is greatly affected by word of mouth, person-to-person communication outside of mainline advertising. Mr. Rosen gives us insights into how and why "buzz" happens, and how to build buzz about a product or service. His Six Rules About Ads and Buzz:
                                      1. Keep It Simple
                                      The message needs to be simple in order for people to pass it on.
                                      2. Tell Us What's New
                                      Fluff doesn't travel well in the networks.
                                      3. Don't Make Claims You Can't Support
                                      Don't tell customers that you care about them unless you really mean it and can consistently demonstrate superb customer service.
                                      4. Ask Your Customers to Articulate What's Special About Your Product or Service
                                      If [your customers] can't tell you what's unique about your product, they won't be able to explain it to their friends.
                                      5. Start Measuring Buzz
                                      When you conduct customer satisfaction surveys, ask your customers whether they have recommended the product recently. If so, to how many people?
                                      6. Listen to the Buzz
                                      How is the product being used out in the field? What problems are encountered by users? What are the product attributes being discussed?

                                      The author does a good job of getting his point across through the appropriate examples. It was an easy and enjoyable read. My only complaint was that he repetitively used the same examples when it would have been more effective to bring in new ones.

                                      Definitely recommend it for anyone who is new to marketing and wants to know what "buzz" is all about.

                                      Gladwell's "The Tipping Point" draws our attention to the idea of "word-of-mouth"; Seth Godin shows us what kinds of remarkable things can be achieved using viral marketing techniques; Emanuel Rosen's "The Anatomy of Buzz" walks us through how to make word-of-mouth marketing work for our own businesses.

                                      This is an excellent book! It lays out a pathway to follow and provides pragmatic guidelines and best practices, verbally illustrated using real-world examples. A business book is a success for me if I find I've made a few notes while reading the book (and acted on those notes). In reading "The Anatomy of Buzz" I generated dozens of notes and ideas - many of which have been implemented or are in process today.

                                      This is an excellent book. I'll say it again: This is an excellent book! I strongly recommend it to those who have "marketing", business development", "sales", or "founder" in their job titles.
