It's a great book on the history of 'underware'. Makes you want to find more books like it....I find the drawback is need more pictures and stuff in it....good 'starter' book....

Superb visual history of lingerie.......2007-05-06
I have the hardback edition of this book, and my eyes popped when I went to check the details of the hardback edition on Amazon. If I can credit what I read, the hardback is currently worth nearly a cool $1,000. I personally think that's waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much to pay, but _1000 Dessous_ is so good that it's well worth paying top dollar for.
I would have to respectfully disagree with the reviewer who downchecked the book because he felt it was too risque. Of course it's risque. What else, in all honesty, would you expect from Taschen, the world leader in publishing high-class erotica? Women's lingerie, by its nature and design, is erotic, as Mr. Neret makes plain in his text and his extensive selection of photos. In point of fact, he doesn't devote the whole book to just considering the eroticism of lingerie. The section titled "Lingerie and Eroticism" is actually the last of four major sections in the book; the others deal with visual depictions of lingerie in history, the cinema and advertising. The great majority of the illustrations are full-page (one does wish, though, that Taschen would have published the book in oversize format, so as to bring out more detail in the pictures) and the selection is both wide-ranging and comprehensive. There's not a great deal of text, admittedly, but every picture has a short but informative caption discussing its subject.

This is an interesting book with lots of full color and contemporary depictions of historical lingerie, but tends to rely too heavily on the pornographic aspects of women's underwear, and includes many photos which are purely historical pornography and bear no connection to lingerie. Maybe I'm just a prudish American, but I expected more history, and maybe a little text.

This softcover book has very little text and lots of fantastic photographs which tell the history or timeline of women's lingerie.
Full of B&W and color photographs, illustrations, designs, ads, and glamour shots. A great gift for lingerie lovers.

If you play harmonica from time to time needs to be opened and cleaned. I had no one to show me what is there and how it to be cleaned so this thing worked for me. To my opinion for a single printed page of information it is too expensive.

The Story Behind the Greyhawk Wars.......2001-09-05
I enjoyed this book more because I am a Greyhawk fan than the actual quality of writing. This book is the sequel to "Saga of Old City" and picks up a couple of years later after Gord and his friends discovered the first of three keys or artifacts which will unleash the dreaded evil god named Tharizdun. The book details the fight to obtain the second key which leads to a chase across the Flanaess. Many forces are at work in this mad dash to control the face of the planet including Oerth's own demigod the evil Iuz as well as the Scarlet Brotherhood. Many important figures pop up in this book including the Catlord, Mordenkainen, Melf (as in Melf's Acid Arrow), and the circle of eight. The fate of the world tends to draw a party. The storyline recounted in this novel basically tells the story behind the Greyhawk Wars up to the fall of the Horned Society and the takeover of the Bandit Kingdoms. For those who play in the Greyhawk world, this novel could definitely liven up a campaign or just provide an interesting background into what has happened before. The story is intriguing, but the writing, while better than "Saga of Old City" still lacks artist polish. Bottom line, if you enjoy the Greyhawk setting and read "Saga of Old City" get this book; it is an enjoyable and quick read. However, if you aren't familiar with Greyhawk your best bet would be to skip it.

Second of the Gygax AD&D novels, Artifact is a sequel to Saga of Old City and AD&D in general.
Gord the Rogue series.......1999-11-29
This may be the best fantasy series since Micheal Moorcock's Elric saga. The hero is not some goody-two shoes trying to save the realms. The plot is unpredictable and the characters are different. This is old school D&D written by the origonal master. If you can find the series you are in luck. I only with Erol Otus did the illustrations. Long live Gygax!

In books of this type i liked it very much and am still in search of the rest of the series..well written and very creative..many differnt plots and characters keep you reading into the wee hours of the morning...many things can be missed..I know I read the book two or three times..thank you for your time a fond reader of Gygax..

Light on detail but useful - a good companion book.......2007-04-02
If you are looking for a really thorough book, this isn't it, but many of the tips are very helpful. Read it with a highlighter and just mark the good stuff and then refer back. I bought this along with Woodson's "Build Your Dream Home for Less" and found that the two together were a great pair. Woodson's is very thorough and takes you through step by step, and Irwin's had a lot of additional tips that Woodson's didn't. Irwin tends not to define many of the "trade" terms he uses and for people who aren't handy, it's frustrating. On the other hand, Woodson does define most terms so if you read both, you're in pretty good shape. This book is not the be-all, end-all book but definitely worth buying - it should save you some money if you are general contracting your home.

If you're new to building homes, this is a good book to get you started.

This is a very good book that is easy to read. Now, there were some things that I disagree with, as well as other "expert" developers, but overall the tips and traps were right on. So, this is a book that you should read if you are building a hime, but also read at least one other good book. Because of some of those things that were too specific (i.e., not mentioning other reasonable options), I nearly gave it four stars. However, it is worth reading and normally would warrant the five stars.

This book was the first book I read on building. It has also been very informative and simple to understand.
If you are beggining in building this is the perfect book for you.
The Author really knows what he is talking about. Unlike some other books out there written buy someone who has never done it....
