Nicknamed "the king of the heel," this architect of fanciful footwear was always a step ahead of his day.

This book is a great work on the inside on the real estate industry. The book tells what will happen in the future to the industry and why. I highly recomend this book to any realtors who plan on working for the next ten years.

This book is about the real world that they did not teach me or my classmates in law school! I have been in the business of real estate brokerage and buyer agency for close to a decade and I still found myself highlighting throughout the book.

Author describes the ultimate in real estate buying service. Hiring a real estate company to represent you the buyer instead of using an agent who drags you around to all of the "in house listings". The exclusive buyer agent works only for your best interest. You hire the agent to help you buy the best home, save money, and avoid surprises. Having bought three homes and using an Exclusive Buyer's Agent on our last home, I know from personal experience what a godsend this is. A true EBA tells the buyer everything. This is so popular now that almost all agents claim to be Buyer Agents, look for the company that does not represent sellers, hence "exclusive" buyer agents. All others try to get you to buy the in house listing and think you shouldn't mind their conflict of interest.

I was looking for advice on setting up a trust, trying to keep attorney and other fees as low as possible. This book certainly does not do this. The recommendations of hiring an estate attorney, a financial advisor, and other advisors to form a team would probably eat up my entire estate. For me there are much better books available

This is a book written for mostly the realtor. It has some good references to trade publications, but falls far short of its great title. I was expecting to see some talk about future trends in the real estate industry. If you want a great book read, Real Estate Rainmaker or Walk Like a Giant Sell Like a Madman, two of my personal favorites.

Okay - probably my bad for not really reading through the description in-depth but this is NOT a book of images of Christmas in the movies - it's more a discussion of those movies. There are limited photos of course -- but not what you would expect from a book with this title. I sent it back before reading because I was interested in more of a photo book so I can't judge the overall content but do want other potential buyers to know what the book is really about.

This book gives a good description of the theory behind different valuation techniques. It is very detailed and very helpful. The only downside is that it is hard to get through at times.

An overall excellnet text on valuing any asset. The author does a wonderful job of highighting the only 3 rational ways to value any asset: discounted cash flows, relative valuation, and the options pricing model. This book may help you consider the value of assets using all 3 methods to arrive at a true valuation for your purchase or divestment.
A must have for anyone who values assests.

A great reference for any finance student.......2007-05-13

Like other reviewers have said, this book should not be used as an undergraduate textbook. But as a reference book it is among the best for reviewing valuation principals. It covers many asset classes, including equities, bonds, options, futures, and real estate. This book also does a good job of breaking down principals used for valuing various firms (private, start-ups, takeover targets).

The real value for me, however, was its explanations of various DCF models and how they are used: adjusted present value, equity valuation, and firm valuation. The material does a good job of getting to the reason behind the numbers and not just how to use them (such as its explanations on how to determine a terminal value).

In summary, a great read for an undergrad or graduate finance student who wants to get familiar with valuation techniques, or even for an analyst who needs to brush up.
