New to Hobby - Good Book.......2004-02-22
I am new to the hobby of horology and enjoy owning this book. It provides a lot of detail and good photos of all the major brands (the competing buying guides leave out some significant brands). Well done and worth buying BEFORE you spend 30 times its price (or more!) on a watch. See the different styles and open your eyes. Take the TIME to appreciate it!
The Bible of the Watch Industry, The Best tool available.......2003-12-29
This is an excellent tool if your a collector, admirer, in the biz or anyone considering a watch purchase. An incredible reference tool, great in helping one narrow down their likes and dislikes...my 3rd year in a row. There are a couple of others...however this one is the most objective and useful.
A great resource.......2003-06-17
I've bought each issue since I got interested in watches in 2000, even though the contents change very little from year to year. Another shortcoming of the annual is that the price information is neither complete nor accurate - you can usually get significant discounts on many of the watches featured. Nevertheless, it is great fun just to look at, and read about watches that I can only drool over :-P
Indispensable for the watch collector!.......2003-02-18
This is a great guide to learn your way around the fascinating World of watch collecting! This book includes all the "major" players in the watch industry - but unfortunately, it does not include some of the smaller "houses" (i.e. manufacturers).
I was surprised to read that it included some non-European makers like some from the USA.
One thing I noticed is that the book has several errors, just try matching some of the photos with the descriptions provided and you'll see what I mean! For the publishers and editors: get some quality control, pleeeaaasse!
I recommend it for the beginner and the advance watch collectors.
And yes, I do agree with another reviewer, there's no such thing as too many watches! :-)

Customer Reviews:
Better pictures on Ebay.......2006-12-03
I bought this book based on the one review, and I have to completely disagree. The pictures in this one are dark and muddy, it's very hard to see details. And that's the point, isn't it? The cleaning and repairing chapter is moderately helpful if you have no clue. The chapters are arranged by COLORS. Not by designers, or eras, or anything else that might make sense. The author will mention that something is in the style of Schreiner, but never go into any detail about what that style might entail. A waste of money.
Probably the best beginners book about Rhinestones........2000-06-19
This is a beautiful book with fabulous pictures. It has a wealth of good jewelry items illustrated that actually apply to things a person who is not wealthy might have. They have a very interesting and easy to understand section on how to clean Rhinestone jewelry, how to make some repairs, and how to store and display it. All in all this is a very complete, useful, interesting and beautiful book about Rhinestone jewelry.

Book Description
From the cult classic The Wicker Man to the blood–thirsty Count Dracula, Christopher Lee has been the face of cinema villainy for decades. In Lord of Misrule, Lee tells the story of his exceptional career, in films like The Curse of Frankenstein, the James Bond classic The Man with the Golden Gun, and more recently, in Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow. After appearing in more than 300 films, and a legend in his own right, Lee undertook one of the most demanding roles of his career as Saruman in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings. Shortly after, as one of the most powerful adversaries in the Star Wars canon, Lee proved that at 80, he is still a commanding screen presence. Written with self–deprecating wit and laced with hilarious anecdotes, Lord of Misrule is a marvelous career history of the man The Guardian called “the coolest actor on the planet.”
Customer Reviews:
The Grand Master of Macabre is a hoot.......2007-03-09
Christopher Lee is not only distinguished as an actor and screen presence, he is articulate and funny in this breathlessly paced memmoir. Also, oddly enough, he is an avid golfer
You can't go wrong with Chris Lee.......2007-01-10
Bought this as a gift for someone but actually read it before giving it to them. A funny, well-written book; Lee is a natural storyteller and this book will please both longtime and newfound fans.
Lord of Misrule: The Autobiography of Christopher Lee.......2005-08-27
One of my all time favorite actors, the legendary thespian Christopher Lee's autobiography is a fascinating tome filled with countless stories of working with everyone from Errol Flynn to Toshiro Mifune, all the while adopting a self-depreciating tone that permeates the book, Lee's fascinating life encompasses many world events, and he talks in detail about his family life, and the numerous films he's starred in. However noticeably absent are his thoughts on his career making turn as Dracula. But considering the hundreds of fantastic films he has acting in, it is of diminutive consequence. Like Sean Connery with 007, he was given fame by a role that he now wishes to distance himself from. Fair enough, considering films like The Wicker Man (One of Lee's favourites) and Sleepy Hollow altering people's perceptions of the actor. Regaling readers with his thorough tales of on-set antics while filming the James Bond film Man with the Golden Gun, working with Steven Spielberg on 1941, and working with directors like Tim Burton, Guy Hamilton, Terence Fisher, George Lucas and Peter Jackson. Lee warms to memories of his long time on-screen acting partner Peter Cushing and their work together. You realize just how important a role Lee has played in cinema history. And despite his numerous Dracula and monster roles (Which aren't that many despite critics waffling) he has displayed in recent years just how much range he can provide, from serious drama in Jinnah, Science Fiction with the Star Wars prequels and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. What a treat to have the master of movies take time to pen his thoughts. Without this book, there would be a large gap in history. This is a very welcome history lesson in Hollywood movie making, and leave s a lasting impression on readers who discover just how prolific an actor he is. Fantastic stuff.
Christopher Lee is a true Master!.......2005-08-10
This is a truly fascinating read and account by the actor who has made the biggest contribution to the film industry-ever! He is my favourite actor and I have a signed photograph of his proudly hanging on my bedroom wall. I am 15 years old and have never found another person my age who has the same respect for him that I have-he is a magnificent actor!
On the book itself, it is very well written and has a whole collection of photographs that are very interesting. Christopher Lee has a very clever and effective way of telling his countless stories and I am sure everybody will find it very enjoyable!
And just for the record he needs to be knighted and also win an honorary academy award right away!
Not enough on films.......2004-11-25
Christopher Lee has made many movies, but doesn't talk about many of them in this book. Instead, the first half of the book is endless family background and his war experiences. Finally, he talks about some of his films, only to repeatedly interrupt with golf stories. His look back at old friends (Cushing, Price, Karloff, even Robert Bloch) are warm and wonderful, but are much too short, barely covering one chapter. The book does have several good points, in addition to his remembering old friends. He never boasts about any of his performances, nor does he put down anyone he's ever worked with on film.

Customer Reviews:
Great book.......2003-04-15
I don't have much to add to the other review. I will say that I occasionally stop playing 1. e4 all together, because I don't want to face the Sicilian. But this is silly. Why play chess at all if I am scared of certain lines? After all, it's only a game. My point is that when I come back to 1. e4 and try to decide what to play against the Sicilian, I always end up turning to this book by Lane (that is, after I try and drop the Smith-Morra [too gimmicky], the Alapin [too passive], the Grand Prix [too aggressive], and the Closed [too Closed!]. The Bc4 scheme makes a lot of sense, and is consonant with chess principles and chess history (Fischer used it, and he is the closest thing to what Morphy may have been like in the modern era). Excellent book with a good index in the back and nicely produced by Batsford.
One of the most aggressive lines against the sicilian.......1998-04-09
I think that this book is highly reccomended to all players who don't like to simply win a chess game! The lines are analized with clearness taking advantage of what grandmaster practice has done with them. Lane chooses beautiful and instructive games for each line and he gives the strategic plans that are behind any possible continuations (all the notes are strictly connected to this feature). This is very important because this variation doesn't admit any misjudgments and so the moves must be carefully calculated, this is why it's most wiseable to me that you can understand the way you make that move instead of learning the move from a book. This book allows you to enter the secrets of the Fischer-Sozin without putting in your memory a lot of move orders without explanation. The only reason I didn't give 10 rating is that I wanted to see much more games than the 48 analized inside... But I can assure you this number is anyway worth of it!

Customer Reviews:
Well done, a little dissapointed.......2007-06-08
This book is well done, very flow-charty with branches of what possible things can happen and how to handle them in any given situation. I was a touch dissapointed - just that I thought it would be more concept oriented. The CD is worth getting the book I suppose, since you can just keep that handy and refer to it as needed. Neutral feelings on this.
Your #1 Reference for People.......2004-01-18
Take my advice and disregard any bad reviews of this book. First off, it comes with a CD that includes the entire book in PDF with every chapter and "people issue" listed for single-click access. That alone is worth the price! What I like most about the format is how the advice is laid out like a flowchart. It starts with what you might say. Then, depending on the person's response, your next response follows a certain path. And so on. It really is a great book; it's a shame that Amazon doesn't have the table of contents available for you to see the hundreds of different situations included. I learned more low-level information from this book that the $2600 Dale Carnegie course I took. Now that's a deal!
useful for difficult situations.......2001-10-22
This is an excellent book to keep in your collection for reference. You never know what difficult situations may arise, and this book gives example conversations for how to handle those situations.
Need a graceful way to get out of a situation?.......2001-01-24
I wish I'd read this book long before I had. The authors present you with some of life's stickiest situations and then tell you exactly how to handle it with words. What makes this book so invaluable is that the authors don't assume that the situation always involves bitterness--for example, their suggestions for leaving a job actually admit that it could just be a peaceful exit.
If you want to know how to disentangle yourself from an employer you're sure is going to hold a grudge, they give you elegant ways of telling your future employer about it. Use their method, and you won't sound whiny, belligerent, or even disgruntled! If anything, their methods make the former employer's words about you look questionable and stilted. I did use their ideas on this, and THEY WORKED.
To be brutally honest, this book is all about spin and the power it holds. So often in communication with one another, we forget that what we say is just as important as how we say it. In the age of emails and faxes, we're losing our manners and making unintentional enemies in the process. This book will re-educate you on the finer points of being nice and, dare I say it, being emotionally neutral.
The authors clearly illustrate that our emotions keep us from being objective about a situation, and this is why Lifescripts is so helpful. They teach you how to distance yourself just enough to see the whole picture and then give you the words/actions necessary to properly deal with the problem. They also teach about a long-forgotten nuance of communication--take a pause and think before you say it/do it/write it.
It's an excellent book that any manager, employee, or senior executive could easily benefit from, and I think it's even appropriate reading for high school age. Knowing when to say what can save you a lot of trouble...
I offered this book to my son before he left home forever.......2000-05-12
I will never forget that day. Before Charles closed his bag definitely, I gave it this book as a sacred testament. Everything is so well thought of; situations are so clearly described that you cannot make the usual mistakes: making confusions between symptoms and causes. Scenarios (scripts) are listed as alternatives one to each other. Solutions are clever and ethical.
