        5 out of 5 stars A great reference.......2005-08-02

I purchased this book along with "How to Succeed in Commercial Real Estate" by John Bowman, based on reviews of other reviewers on Amazon.com. It was great advice and I want to contribute in the same way. These two books have already helped me in my career and given me added confidence.

This book is one that will be helpful in dissecting some of the tedious, even boring language of leases. If you're in commercial real estate, it's hard to ignore because that's where half the work is. It breaks down topics into digestable chunks.

Clients will expect you to know this stuff and lead them through a maze of commercial issues. The key is not to be an expert in everything but to have familiarity with the topics that invariably come up. When it's over your head, you need to defer to your team of trusted advisors, be it legal, accounting or engineering resources for instance. However, when it's suppose to be in your head and it's not, you can refer to this lease book time and time again and prepare yourself with the knowledge you need.

I recommend this highly to people starting out in commercial real estate. Much success to you!

3 out of 5 stars For leasing commercial buildings.......2001-05-15

This seems to be a step by step guide, in some detail, on the leasing of commercial property. It is not a guide for leasing other items like equipment or vehicles.

4 out of 5 stars Solid Overview for Understanding Commercial Leasing.......1999-12-29

As a partner in a major commercial brokerage this book has become part of the mandatory reading for new entry level brokers. After reading the book, it was clear that not understanding all of the parts of a commercial lease brings no value to our clients. I recommend it to anyone that is involved in commercial leaseing.

                    Book Description

Has European cinema, in the age of globalization, lost contact not only with
the world at large, but with its own audiences? Between the thriving
festival circuit and the obligatory late-night television slot, is there
still a public or a public sphere for European films? Can the cinema be the
appropriate medium for a multicultural Europe and its migrating multitudes?
Is there a division of representational labor, with Hollywood providing
stars and spectacle, the Asian countries exotic color and choreographed
action, and Europe a sense of history, place and memory?

This collection of essays by an acclaimed film scholar examines how
independent filmmaking in Europe has been reinventing itself since the 1990s,
faced by renewed competition from Hollywood and the challenges posed to
national cinemas by the fall of the Wall in 1989. Elsaesser reassesses the
debates and presents a broader framework for understanding the
forces at work since the 1960s. These include the interface of "world
cinema" and the rise of Asian cinemas, the importance of the international
film festival circuit, the role of television, and the changing
aesthetics of auteur cinema. New audiences have different allegiances, and
new technologies enable networks to reshape identities, but European cinema
still has an important function in setting critical and creative agendas,
even as its economic and institutional bases are in transition.

                          Product Description

Désiré-Emile Inghelbrecht was a conductor, and composer. His friendship with Claude Debussy began in 1911 (although they had met previously), and he soon became one of the Master's closest friends. This book is the first publication, in the original French and in English translation, of the correspondence between these two musicians. Beginning rather formally in 1912, with the salutation "Mon cher Inghelbrecht," the correspondence soon became much more intimate, with Debussy addressing Inghelbrecht as "Mon cher ami" or "Cher Inghel." Although Debussy had a reputation for being cold and distant and for avoiding strangers, this was just his way of maintaining his privacy. This aloofness enabled him to express in private the warmth he felt toward those few close friends whose intimacy he needed and cherished. Inghelbrecht was in the forefront of this group. Their friendship was based not only on a mutual respect for each other's talents as artists and musicians, but also on the sharing of intimate secrets and warm feelings. Inghelbrecht's wife would later write that her husband retained the mark Debussy left on him. "For him, he was a beacon, a guide. And he had the deep joy of being able, up until his last days, to bring to life-with passion, with all his talent-the works of a man who had been for a few years his friend." Margaret G. Cobb, the "doyenne of Debussy scholars," brings to life these two talented men. She enriches Richard Miller's idiomatic translation of the letters with copious notes and wonderful illustrations to illuminate a great musical friendship.

                            Book Description

This completely revised second edition of The Poetic Debussy contains the most recent discoveries in the composer's oeuvre, including a number of hitherto unknown songs. The texts of all Debussy's songs, both in the original French and with revised English translations on the facing page, are collected in chronological order, with notes and location of sources. In addition, Margaret Cobb has brought together a fascinating selection of Debussy's letters which have poetic refences, and has updated the notes on those twenty-six compositions based on or inspired by literary texts. This work will prove an invaluable aid to performers, scholars and students, as it contains the texts, with translations, of the full output of Debussy's songs, describes his works derived from literary sources, and includes important background material.

                                Book Description

Arthur Hartmann (1881-1956), a celebrated violinist who performed over a thousand recitals throughout Europe and the United States, met Claude Debussy in 1908, after he had transcribed 'Il pleure dans mon coeur' for violin and piano. Their relationship developed into friendship, and in February 1914 Debussy accompanied Hartmann in a performance of three of Hartmann's transcriptions of Debussy's works. The two friends saw each other for the last time on the composer's birthday, 22 August 1914, shortly before Hartmann and his family fled Europe to escape the Great War. With the publication of Hartmann's memoir Claude Debussy as I Knew Him, along with the twenty-two known letters from Claude Debussy and the thirty-nine letters from Emma Debussy to Hartmann and his wife, the richness and importance of their relationship can be appreciated for the first time. The memoir covers the years 1908-1918. Debussy's letters to Hartmann span the years 1908-1916, and Emma (Mme) Debussy's letters span the years 1910-1932. Also included are the facsimile of Debussy's Minstrels manuscript transcription for violin and piano, three previously unpublished letters from Debussy to Pierre Louÿs, and and correspondece between Hartmann and Béla Bartók, Nina Grieg, Alexandre Guilmant, Charles Martin Loeffler, Marian MacDowell, Hans Richter, and Anton Webern, along with Hartmann's memoirs on Loeffler, Ysaÿe, Joachim and Grieg. Samuel Hsu is a pianist and professor of music at Philadelphia Biblical University. He completed his Ph.D. in historical musicology at the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1972 with a dissertation on Debussy. Sidney Grolnic has been a librarian in the Music Department of the Free Library of Philadelphia for over twenty years and serves as curator of the library's Hartmann Collection. Mark A. Peters has recently received his Ph.D. in historical musicology at the University of Pittsburgh; his dissertation was on J. S. Bach's sacred cantatas to texts by Mariana von Ziegler.

CLAUDE DEBUSSY was one of the most influential and enigmatic composers of our century. It seems extraordinary that until now there has been no representative collection of his correspondence published in English.

                                    5 out of 5 stars Interesting series..........2007-05-13

This series is setup in a very interesting way. The books were written by different authors. They tell the story of the same chain of events from the perspective of different groups of vampires (a different group for each book).

4 out of 5 stars One of the best of the series........2006-02-27

I haven't really been impressed with this series so far; the stories aren't bad but aren't really impressive in their own right. This one, book four in the 13-book series, is the best so far, due mainly to more interesting characters. It's still too early to have a very clear idea of where the overall series plot is heading, but this book does a fair job of advancing that plot, and has an interesting one of its own. I may be wrong, but I'm expecting to see some character continuation in the Clan Novel: Ravnos book when I get to it.

4 out of 5 stars Snakes and Vampires.......2004-12-17

Setites are an unexpected complication in the world of the Masquerade. While most vampires are Cainites (the children or followers of Cain), Setites are the followers of Set. The premise is that any being that draws energy from both the world of darkness and the world of light must follow certain rules. So a Setite still drinks blood and must avoid exposure to sunlight, but you can't kill one with a stake the way you can kill a Cainite. There are other clans that claim this kind of origin (Gangrel and Ravnos), but Setites take the prize for eeriness.

Hesha Ruhadze is the perfect Setite - money, power, and a truly devious intelligence. He can be a perfect gentleman, lie with a straight face, and almost never makes a mistake. Behind the mask though is a creature whose thoughts wander far and wide from the mainstream vampire. On a perpetual quest for antiquities of his heritage his path crosses that of art preservationist Elizabeth Dimitrios. Hesha finds something of value deep within her and he draws her into his web. Even as his hunt for the eye of Hazimel intensifies.

Elizabeth becomes Hesha's curator and gradually comes to understand that for all that Hesha never seems evil, the world around him is a dangerous one. She will soon find herself traveling through the dark world, a privileged spectator in a deadly war for power.

Kathleen Ryan really breaks the clan novel mold with this book. We've had to wade through several volumes that are crowded with details and sometimes almost academic in style. Setite, however, even more so than Gangrel, is a character-based book with plenty of action and mystery. This is one of the best novels in the series, and can almost stand by itself. She has written another novel in the series (Ravnos) and I'm looking forward to it.

                                    5 out of 5 stars Perfect.......2001-06-14

Heasha is the perfect Setite. Kathleen Ryan's stories in the Mage books were great. This is a step up for her. Expertly written. Engrossing.

4 out of 5 stars Another win for Ryan..........2001-05-08

Though not as compelling as Kathleen Ryan's prior book (Setite), the author continues to remain the powerhouse writer in this, otherwise disappointing, series.

Once again, Ryan's characters are believable, likable (even the villains) and cunningly REAL. She makes the World of Darkness TRULY come alive despite the poor backdrop she was given by the other books in the series which rarely rise to the heights of mediocrity.

Kudos to Kathleen Ryan for another example of White Wolf authors that actually know what a 'Story-teller' does.

5 out of 5 stars New idea; new approach.......2006-09-15

This book, Six Sigma for Marketing Processes, differs from most Six Sigma books. Its purpose is to introduce 3 new proactive methods to focused on improving core marketing / business process areas: Strategic Planning (for Portfolio Renewal), Tactical Offering Development & Launch Preparation (developing an offering), and Operational in a Post-Launch environment (managing an offering through its lifecycle). It mentions the importance of the more traditional Six Sigma methods, and discusses selecting and using the appropriate method at the right time, for the right business need.

                                      1 out of 5 stars Misleading description - not DMAIC / DMADV.......2006-06-12

As a Six Sigma Black Belt in an organization that is looking to expand outside of operations, I thought this would be a good book to give me some examples to help sell Six Sigma to my marketing colleagues. But rather than show how DMAIC can improve marketing cycle time, productivity, ROI, etc or how DMADV can lead to better new product launches, it laid out three stage-gated processes to run a marketing organization. DMADV / DFSS was barely mentioned, if at all. This book will not help a marketing organization implement traditional Six Sigma and it will not help a current Six Sigma practioner expand their program to Marketing.
