Book Description
The Russian-born artist Sonia Delaunay, who with her husband, Robert Delaunay, was a leading light of the Cubist splinter group Orphism, branched out after the First World War into a distinctive career of her own. Between 1920 and 1930, a decade full of activity and success, she produced some of the most striking and original fabric designs of modern times. She was the inventor of abstract design for fabrics, and her materials--brightly colored and filled with geometric patterns--were the rage among fashionable circles in the Art Deco era. Delaunay made imaginative waistcoats for Tristan Tzara, Louis Aragon, Ren Crevel, and other Surrealist poets. She dressed Gloria Swanson and various French film stars, the unconventional socialite Nancy Cunard, and the wife of the Bauhaus architect Marcel Breuer. She also designed interiors in collaboration with the Paris architect Mallet-Stevens and created costumes for the early films of Marcel L'Herbier. Her fabrics were sold by Liberty's in London and many of the most exclusive department stores in New York. Jean Cocteau and Blaise Cendrars wrote about her fashion designs, and her decorative scarves are known to have had an influence on the work of Paul Klee. Jacques Damase, the French publisher and art historian, is intimately familiar with all of Delaunay's original designs and fabric samples. In many cases both the design and the sample still exist, and this is the first time most of them have been photographed. Damase has written an appreciation of Delaunay, and has also assembled a representative selection of writings by her contemporary admirers and critics. The result is a definitive record of this unusually talented artist's contribution to commercial design. These dazzling, exciting designs are artworks in themselves; the fact that they had a practical purpose makes them even more admirable.

Don't get this if you're looking for the classics.......2003-07-02
This book is great if you're more into B-movies or more obscure horror/sci-fi. I got this book mainly because I wanted more pictures of the horror greats to add to my collection (Lionel Atwill, Peter Lorre, Basil Rathbone, Lon Chaney, etc.). I was disappointed in this respect. However, there is a picture of Lon Chaney trying on a set of teeth in this book that made my purchase worth it. However, if you're not obsessed with Chaney, you might want to avoid.
if youre a fan of classic horror then youll love thisbook.......2000-03-26
When I read this book for the first time, I was amazed. it is the most detailed book on classic horror I have ever read.
Customer Reviews:
Utterly entertaining & heady; just like the music he covers........1997-01-10
Quite possibly the best intellectual analysis of rock ever written. Best, not because of some high-falutin' connection to past ideology or current trends. Rather, the best because it is a series of articles (mostly from Melody Maker) about important artists (My Bloody Valentine, the Pixies, Morrissey, Prince...) by someone who obviously is in love with the music he's disecting. Forget Geil Marcus (too much in love with his ideas), Reynolds is the real deal

SPLINTER CELL GUIDE BOOK.......2007-02-15
EXCELLENT PRODUCT AND A MUST HAVE FOR THOSE DIE HARD FANS OF TOM CLANCY. IT DEFINTELY HELPED ME OUT TO CONTINUE WITH THE GAME.
DO NOT BUY.......2004-03-30
This guide is racist against the PS2 version! Not only that, but I have played and beaten the XBOX version at a friends house, and uncovered that there are various picture faults and the text wording is somewhat poor. Not only that, but some directions for the XBOX version are wrong, several wrong for PS2 (DON'T tell me to look in the ps2 sidebar, because thats what I meant.) This may be the last prima guide I buy.
Dumbness.......2003-06-01
For those of you who do not have the time to work through this game, the guide is useful. But that also begs the question, "Why did you even buy the game in the first place?"...So instead of using the guide take your time.
FOR THOSE WHO HAVE THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!
While playing Splinter Cell I figured out some cheats.Hit the F2 key and then type HEALTH,AMMO or FLY. They do the obvious.
PS2 Claim a little misleading.......2003-04-19
NOTE: I have the PS2 version of the game, so I don't know how well this book works as a guide for Xbox and PC versions.
For the PS2 version, though, as a basic walkthrough, it is certainly better than nothing, but I still feel like I was misled when the book advertises itself as being for all 3 platforms (Xbox, PC, and PS2). When I got stuck on one part of the game, I consulted this book and still couldn't get through it. I accidentally flipped to the next page and then noticed what the book calls a "PS2 sidebar." At first, I thought it was something extra for the PS2 version until I looked closely and saw that it began at a point just before the part that I was stuck on. It turns out that a completely different strategy is necessary on PS2 for that part than on the other platforms. A note on the previous page that says something to the effect of "PS2 users: See side bar on next page for this part" would have been nice. That's an example of how the organization of the book is lacking.
PS2 owners do not buy.......2003-04-17
If you have the ps2 version of this game do not get this book unless you are absolutley lost. Even then, think twice. It is written for the xbox and pc versions of the game, and it includes sidebars for the ps2 versions. Plus, the pictures shown are only for the xbox and pc versions, which will confuse a lot of people. If you have the xbox or pc versions, I give this book five stars. PS2 version, only 2.

Customer Reviews:
Easy to use and multiple learning methods.......2006-11-27
I used this textbook for a Macroecon class in college and it has got to be one of the best textbooks I've ever used. Not only is the textbook itself well written and easily explains complex theories, but it also comes with a DVD and online component. The online DiscoverEcon site gives you access to self-quizzes and further examples to help study. The DVD is basically lectures done in an easy to follow and entertaining (as entertaining as economics can be anyway) format.
I hope that my professor in my Microeconomics class uses the textbook from the same author.
Avoid if you can.......2006-03-27
I think this is one of the worst textbooks I've ever read. It uses 14 different sentences to say the same thing, and makes basic concepts seem complicated by overstating/analyzing them. This book could be significantly shorter...maybe the author was getting paid by the word?
If you have any choice of textbooks for macroeconomics class, I recommend you choose one other than this. If you're the professor of the class, I beg you to not make your students endure this book. :) Thank you.
Macroeconomics.......2006-02-20
The book was in great condition and the book was delievered in reasonable amount of time.
wrong order.......2005-10-03
i received the order on sept. 12, 2005, and it was the wrong book, and i still haven't received a refund for their mistake.
Economics made interesting - how about that?.......2005-09-19
I've never before been interested in economics, so what do I know about econ text books? Not much. But I know a good text book when I use one, and this is a very good one. It is well written and easy to follow. It makes an otherwise dull subject both learnable and enjoyable. Yes, even interesting. It is also very up-to-date, with some very current examples that really resonate with the 21st Century Economics student. All in all - first rate!
Book Description
The proven and popular Microeconomics has been made even tighter and smoother for its 16th edition. A DVD features bestselling DiscoverEcon software and two videos with Paul Solman of PBS. New topics include the economics of the war on terrorism, China's rapidly emerging economy, recent accounting misconduct, and more. Two bonus chapters available on the Web provide additional, specialized information.
Customer Reviews:
Overall Good.......2006-12-24
This book is clear and easy to use, though at times the examples were not very beneficial. It also did not seem as though there were a clear order to the ideas presented in each chapter.
I did, however, gain a relatively thourough knowledge of microeconomics from using this book and overall I found the chapters easy to read and understand.
I cannot comment on the DiscoverEcon Online or the videos as I did not have enough time in order to explore either of these additional resources.
MicroEcon Review online - Marlon T. Dinu.......2005-01-17
McConnell's approach is very comprehensive. The application of economic models is very useful for instruction to Filipino undergraduate students of economics courses.
Book Description
Economics has become a bestselling text through its step-by-step introduction to both micro- and macroeconomics. This package contains a book and two 40-minute DVDs, which feature the bestselling tutorial software DiscoverEcon as well as all-new videos with Paul Solman of "The News Hour with Jim Lehrer." Three bonus chapters are available online for further information, while lively vignettes give life to central themes.
Customer Reviews:
Great Experience.......2006-02-22
Delivered before expected, and the book was in better shape then they said. Overall I am very happy and will buy other textbooks from this company.
Excellent Book to Use for Studying Economy !.......2005-09-15
After I studied a few chapters. I evaluate this book is a good book for a college where the course requires for online study. It came with DVD and key code so you can access online to review and do assignment. The detail concept about the economy is excellent and up-to-date of current economy.
A Decent Book-Not something I would pick up on my own.......2005-09-11
I needed this book for my macroeconomics class. The videos on the CD are interesting but not necessary to understand the book content. They don't really relate to the book but rather on current events and real life situtations. The book can be boring at times, but explains things pretty well. I wouldn't pick up this book if it wasn't for the course I'm taking. It gets confusing at certain parts.
A Good Comprehensive Guide To Econ. But Needs Some Revision.......2005-08-01
This textbook is much easier to understand than the reviewer who gave it one star makes it out to be. It's not a book where everything that is written is not going to be understandable. Although he does have a point that the author tends to become lazy and not explain certain terms in the textbook. But there is a Glossary.
The book, however, does describe many of the economic processes well and, sometimes, vividly. Sadly, in some spots, the author seems to move at a brisk pace and doesn't go into real depth about some of the economic processes and calculations. I noticed in one of the later chapters he was showing how to use the Multiplier effect and explained it all in text without bothering to show a step-by-step process of how to do it. So it gets confusing unless you have someone who knows the material extremely well show you. The author does this in several spots of the book but they are few and far between. At the end of each chapter are key terms and review questions. On top of that, a workbook is included. In this workbook, a more abstract telling of each chapter is given and some questions are asked. This workbook is very helpful and is, in my opinion, a better learning companion than the textbook itself since it gets right to the point of things. Also included is a CD-ROM with two 40 minute videos and access to the DiscoverEcon database that has more learning materials including 255 minutes worth of instructional videos; which help a lot as well especially if you are more of a visual learner like myself.
This textbook is definitely worth the price; but you also get a CD-ROM and a very helpful workbook. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in studying economics or taking an economics class. This is just about as comprehensive as you are going to get in an economics textbook.
Possibly the worst textbook I have ever used.......2005-04-05
This book is terrible. The authors make no attempt to explain simple definitions such as "normal profit" clearly, but instead "integrate" such definitions into the text in such a way that readers are left guessing the meaning. Their explanations for various concepts are similarly vague. I honestly don't understand how this textbook made it to the 16th edition, because it should either be seriously revised or go out of print. Textbook economics should be clear, precise, and reasonably easy to understand, and McConnell and Brue have not accomplished this with their textbook. Professors - please don't put your students through the suffering of this textbook!
