Pleased on two counts!.......2006-04-09
I was pleased by this book on two counts. As a knitter I loved the creative and fanciful designs of mother rabbit's hats. I could totally relate to her knitting frenzy during the Christmas holiday.
Secondly, as a mother of three children, I was surprised at how enthralled my children were by the simple story. Well, my 10 year old son (Harry Potter fan that he is) was a little bored by the charming story, but both my 8 yo daughter and 6 yr old son loved the book and fought over who got to look at the pictures after I was finished reading the book out loud. They especially liked trying to figure out which hat was going to which animal when mother rabbit was knitting them. The illustrations are especially captivating and full of detail. Altogether I loved this book and it is sure to be a year-round favorite, not just at Christmas!

I received this book today and I was not disappointed. It's a lovely sweet story with an 'it's better to give than to receive moral'. The illustrations are beautiful and unusual. I know this will be a favourite in our Christmas collection. A must have.

A blizzard is blowing in but Little Rabbit is ready. His mother has knit him a cozy hat. Little Rabbit worries about his friends, however. He suggests they should receive hats for Christmas too, an idea Mother Rabbit seconds. Little Rabbit designs headgear appropriate to horse, goose, cat, dog, squirrel and deer. The friends aren't sure what to make of the quirky hats--until they see just how toasty the custom designs keep them. This snug story of friendship and mother-child love encapsulates the Christmas message that giving begets joy.
Adorable New Children's Book for the Holidays.......2004-09-22
Mother Rabbit decides to knit a wonderful winter hat for Little Rabbit to protect his long ears from the frosty cold weather, and to keep them nice and cozy. Little Rabbit adores the hat, and decides that it would be the perfect Christmas gift for all of their animal friends. Kate Klise is known for her wonderful writing, and SHALL I KNIT YOU A HAT? is no exception. While it doesn't contain the normal page count of her many novels for middle readers, it contains a very enjoyable story, filled with adorable prose, and a wonderful message of thinking of others around the holiday season, that will be loved by young readers the world over, whether they are reading it at Christmastime, or in the middle of the summer. And, as usual, M. Sarah Klise, who is known for her descriptive illustrations has created a splendid collection of colorful, and vivid illustrations that will capture the heart of even the biggest grinch. If you are only purchasing one holiday children's book this year for your family, this is the one to get, as the whole family will be thrilled at the prospect of reading it together.

Very, Very Funny Book--Where has this guy been?.......2005-04-26
A friend of mine who knows the author told me about his funny sense of humor from radio commentary he has done before...so I bought "This Book Is Not a Toy" not really knowing what to expect. What a surprise! Goldstone's sense of humor has a touch of Lenny Bruce meets Woody Allen with a little Monty Python mixed in. I read it on a plane and shared it with my seatmates who I had never met before. We all shared laughs. I can't wait for his next book!

Not as good as I'd hoped - I returned it.......2004-11-07
The book's 600+ pages led me to believe it was going to be an in-depth study of the ten chosen sitcoms, but alas each program only gets about a 6- to 10-page writeup, followed by a huge episode guide. The ep guides are not at all compelling reading, and actually pale to guides done by fans on various websites.
There aren't a lot of photos, and the ones that are there are aligned in strange, overlapping, sometimes slanted format in a 10-page section in the book's dead center. They're B&W and actually look poor even for B&W.
This book gets one thing right: the ten shows selected were the absolute cream of the crop up to that point ("Seinfeld" would probably have bumped one of them out a few years later), but this book really doesn't add anything to the reader's enjoyment of these classics. I suggest you pass on this one.

A serious examination of some funny shows........1999-09-21
Rather than another nostalgia-derived look at fondly remembered but essentially lame sitcoms, this book reflects critics' picks of the very best examples of the genre, then examines them with the seriousness and insight they deserve. The author is an expert on the subject--he also wrote the definitive work on the Dick Van Dyke Show--and he treats each of the ten shows, from I Love Lucy to Cheers--with thoroughness and affection. This book will enhance the viewing experience of any television fan.

It was a very good book. I didn't read all of it because I am an I Love Lucy fan. I also watch Bewitched and Happy Days. One thing I would like to see is an updated version of this book. Since many shows have been replaced. One thing I would not like to see is the following shows above taken off the air. I think you should make a seperate channel for shows such as 'The Brady Bunch', 'Wonder Years', and all of the newer shows you are putting on there. There are too many I love Lucy fans out and if you keep changing what is on this channel it won't be Nick at Nite anymore.

What is not mentioned but should be ...........2007-05-21
Two considerations on this one -- first and foremost, the score and the accompanying CD 'ONLY' includes the FIRST movement of the piece! That is not mentioned although it should have been! I'm well aware that often just the first movement itself is performed but that has nothing to do with an item that states "Moonlight Sonata" and leaves out the fact that the 2nd and 3rd movements of the piece are not included!
On the plus side, the accompanying CD has TWO tracks: One is the first movement played at normal tempo and track two is a so-called "study track" [sic] which is played VERY slowly but this is precisely what is needed if you're trying to master the piece and need to identify a note or simply playing along at a much reduced speed until, shall we say, the fingers hit the appropriate keys .. as the master wrote it!
This is one of a series ["concert performer series"] by the Amsco folks and the CD also has MIDI data but this of course means you must have the software and hardware to utilize the MIDI data although most folks, I gather, will use the audio segment of the CD together with the score [first movement only] both in normal performance tempo and the super slow 'study' tempo mode [shades of 'GG' [Glenn Gould] when he did the "Appassionata" thing as 'Gould' felt it should be played ... but then Glenn did many 'variations' with the music of others, yes? Yes.]
Sidebar: If you want the full score and hence the 3 movements of the sonata plus a performance CD, see my Amazon review on the Santorella Publications folks and their quite excellent "Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata" [TS340] transcribed in the original with all articulations and voicings and performed in the audio segment by Craig Stevens. Very well done, that one, and the piece appears under its true name, "Sonata Quasi Una Fantasia", Opus 27, No. 2.
What's that? It 'can' be done in the 'original' and let me lay this on you as one who plays various pieces "sic" or 'as written' albeit to the extent possible ==yet== who has 'defended' those ubiquitous 'arrangements' and assorted 'fake books' or "easy-play" material because I believe they do serve a purpose for various and sundry folks who wish to play the piano simply for personal enjoyment and pure pleasure, but anyway, and the point here, here is a case where the 'sic' or 'as written' piece is literally light years ahead from those usual easy-play 'arrangements' [you know, the RH A-D-F and LH 'D' duo thing] because NOTHING approaches the distinctive and beautiful sound of the original! Nothing!
It is not an easy piece in the original [first movement] but with time and practice, it can be done and the difference in how the piece 'sounds' in the original will be the ultimate convincer! If you can put your LH on those two D's for the 'easy-play' versions, then you can assuredly put that pinky and thumb [5-1] on the C sharp bass registry original notes! Ditto for the RH G#, C#, E. And learn the 'original' from there which you will not regret! Other pieces 'do' lend themselves to easier play 'arrangements' but this one, and specifically the first movement, and the most well known and in fact most played of the 3 movements, is simply unique -- as written.

Tom gives tons of suggestions and ideas for professionalizing a real estate agent's approach to the game. With years of both his personal experience and insight gained from industry leaders, he offers proven methods for becoming a top producer. As with any such book, the true sucess can only be measured by what people do with it. But without doubt, any ambitious agent can improve their presentations and income by following Tom's sage advice.

Buy this book! You will not regret it! This is one of the most helpful books I have ever read in dealing with Real Estate as an Agent.
This book has opened my mind as to how to sell real estate and gain a competitive advantage in your market. Just buy the book! It is a CHEAP investment and if you follow Tom's principles, this book could net you Millions!! Also check out Keller's book: "The Millionaire Real Estate Agent". These two books I use as text books in real estate.

Hopkins Gives Agent a Gem!.......2007-01-10
This title is a must for every agent in the real estate community. Novices and pros can benefit from this selection. I'm on my second time reading it and my second copy. Hurricane Katrina sent my first copy into the Gulf of Mexico.
The best real estate sales book, period........2006-07-26
I've actually read this book 3 times and I'm currently memorizing the scripts. This book is great at offering answers to the common objections such as "It costs too much" and "This bedroom is too small". The FSBO section is amazing. I've cold called FSBO's before with little success...now it's a breeze.
I understand that marketing is huge in any real estate career, but if you dont know the commmon objections and how to handle them, you're finished. Become an owner of the book, it's priceless.

The man who set a world record for real estate sales over 30 years ago, a record that still stands today and no doubt will never be broken by anyone!
There are many other sales authors out there. Some vary from good to poor. Many are based on theory and written by people who have never sold anything. Fewer still have any successful students.
Tom Hopkins speaks from experience. His methods work. They have worked for Tom and his millions and millions of students. If you are in real estate, you must read this book and even more importantly, use it.
