Helen Buttfield has observed that all her life has seemed to be a preparation for stamp making. Trained as a painter in Florence in the technique of egg tempera, a fifteenth-century medium that requires meticulous attention to detail, she remained a realist in a world of Abstract Expressionism. Taking up the camera, she traveled the world, photographing its natural glory. Four books of her photographs led her to a career in book design and an enduring passion for letterpress printing and elegant typography, one which has served her well in her stamp making. Buttfield began making stamps in 1990, inspired by the story of Tannu Tuva, a country in Asia that had completely disappeared from the map. All that remained were its stamps. Her first designs were created for the Hudson River Estuary, a nonprofit environmental organization. Then, in need of a country that would issue her stamps, she created "L'Etat de Fourire," a state of happy, delirious laughter. This fictional island nation now boasts twelve special stamp issues, which are sold as limited editions. The Fourire stamps led to commissions from the Republic of Palau in the western Pacific and the Turks and Caicos Islands of the Caribbean.

Posta Verdura is one of her newest collections of postcards. Thirty easily removable vegetable collage postcards come bound in a paperback format.

Unique Thank You Cards.......2007-02-10

I came across Helen Buttfield's postcard books for the first time when visiting the Melbourne Museum shop a few years ago. I bought the Posta Insecta collection to use as thank you cards and recently when I ran out, was happy find her other postcard collections are available from Amazon. Besides the beautiful artwork (which recipients often comment on) out of Posta Vedura's 30 cards, each picture is only repeated once, so great value for money.

yay Rock Lee uses Primary Lotus. but his body like screws up later... Naruto learns to use his Kyuubi, Kakashi later teaches Sasuke CHIDORI!!! but in the end, only Shikamaru gets to be a chuunin. Did i say too much?

Less enjoyable than the columns, but still funny.......2007-08-12

I was first blown away by Dave Barry's Greatest Hits, a selection from his often hilarious (occasionally in a surreal way) column. This follow-up purchase was my cheapskate way of getting four books in one omnibus (and hardcover no less) edition: at amazon someone sold the book for something like a cent and all I paid was standard postage.

Well, next time I'll be a bit less frugal and fork out for another collection of his columns. The `Guide to Life' books were still amusing, occasionally laugh out loud, but not quite at the same standard. I think the short column format suits Barry better than sticking to one theme for an entire book. He earns his money, but at times it seems to require more effort to squeeze out all the pages; whereas at his best his columns feel like he's just joyously ranting on a theme he doesn't have to sustain for any length of time before being distracted by something else.

It's a bit of a time piece too - although for anyone who lived through the 80s that can be an enjoyable feature. That being said, it's interesting how many things still ring true, even raves about computers with a fraction the RAM but disturbingly similar frustrations.

Vintage Barry........2003-06-27

This is an omnibus edition containing four semi-related examples of Dave Barry's early, fairly short works: Dave Barry's Guide To Marriage and/or Sex, Babies and Other Hazards of Sex, Stay Fit and Healthy Until You're Dead, and Claw Your Way To The Top.

The humor is mostly some of Dave's better stuff, although I thought that the first two sections were funnier than the last two; still, even those are well worth reading. Overall, about on a par with "Dave Barry's Only Travel Guide You'll Ever Need".

Funny more often than not.......2001-11-08

I bought this as a gift for a friend, who just happens to be an expectant mother. She was showered with "how to" books on raising babies, so I thought I would give her one more -- the Dave Barry guide. I started reading it, and ended up chuckling more often than not. A recommended read to someone who wants a laugh, and enjoys Dave Barry's outrageous writing style.

Great Vintage Barry.......2000-05-21

Much of this was written back before Dave Barry was a name brand humorist. I can remember buying copies of the babies book years ago to give to all of my pregnant friends. This is typical Barry-- pointed, free-wheeling, funny and immediately recognizable as pieces of truth that most people are too polite to mention. Written as books, these are often more sustained than the column collections, and written Back In The Day, they don't have to live up to any rep or expectation. These books are part of what MADE Dave Barry's national following.

Humor Dave Barry Style.......2000-03-25

This book was full of the typical hilarity found in Dave Barry's writing. The "Babies" portion had me rolling on the floor. As a mother of two young children, I was able to find humor in the most mundane of baby/toddler activities. The section on putting your baby to bed rang true and was best illistrated by the lulaby line "stay asleep until at least 6:30 am." The rest of the book followed the same kind of humor and is a definite read for anyone who wants a good laugh out of life

Truly a great read.......2007-03-02

Despite the macabre subject matter, this is a hilarious book. I laughed out loud many, many times. And while it may, indeed, feed a true hypochondriac's neurosis, it can also show just how obnoxiously far you can take it. I will admit that even I (not so much a hypochondriac) took a few of the `tests' presented in the book. I evidently have about a half-dozen serious medical conditions...

If you like Dave Barry, you'll like this book.

Warning... this is not for the paranoid, for those that read every bad bio-terrorisim book out there then wonder if they've contracted Ebola, or for those who call emergency when they've stubbed their toe thinking it's fleah eating cancer....
Great book full of witty looks at all the medical disasters that can kill ya...
It is well written, funny, well organised and lends itself to reading to friends and relatives who enjoy combining a lack of medical background with pure paranoia. Keep a copy around for flu season...

Several laugh out loud moments. Weingarten's newspaper column is funnier than this book. I love the column. The book isn't bad.

Witty, offbeat, accessible and overall worthwhile.......1998-11-07

Whit Stillman's reputation as a filmmaker continues to grow. Recently The Last Days Of Disco was met with a respectable showing in popular movies. This book, however, reminds us of his more obscure beginnings.

Certainly Stillman is known for his slow style, often hiding huge plot developments within seemingly endless dialogue. The main problem with this is that the dialogue is so engrossing one can miss what's going on. This combination of screenplays (including what is still my favorite film in Metropolitan) allows one to revisit the dialogue and look at it from other angles.

This compilation is made even more worthwhile with the inclusion of cut scenes which shed more light onto the characters, especially Audrey and Sally from Metropolitan. Overall at full price this book would still be a bargain.

Use architectural details that lend authenticity and charm to a home in creative, original ways. Remember those beautiful, often weathered or distressed iron rails, shutters, and even heat registers from days gone by? You've probably had your eye on them at flea markets, yard sales, or salvage yards, but weren't quite sure how they would fit into your decor. Transform those details so that they serve a different function than originally intended. What was once galvanized tin roofing becomes a fabulous candle lamp; a window guard makes a great pot rack.

Any one of these 45 projects will enable you to create something new with all the elegance of the historic architectural remnant that it's crafted from. The techniques you'll try are varied, yet the skills needed for most of the projects are minimal. This book is almost identical to "The Coaching Starter Kit. It is mostly forms to be used in coaching. The good thing about this book is that all the forms are on a CD.

I don't normally do reviews on items because I am aa easily pleased person. But, I had to do this so that other people don't make the same mistake I did. This book is awful. The disk has tons of forms ALL of which are either bogus writing which is hard to undersatnd OR are TOTALLU useless. Plus, they are done SO POORLY that a high school student could create a better document.

The book is nothing but forms and fruity language. It really gives a BAD name to the coaching profession. I think it is a noble life path and I happent o be on it. After reading this I am afraid to think that some coaches use this as a guideline for their work. If my coach spoke this way to me I would be offended and feel like I was being used for money.

I HOPE THAT NOBDY WHO SERIOUSLY CONSIDERS BECOMING A COACH USES THIS AS ANY SORT OF A GUIDE!

I am currently attending classes to become a certified "life coach", and have been searching for a book that would provide me with additional resources that I could use during my coaching sessions with clients.

Although I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I ordered "Coach U's Essential Coaching Tools", I must say that it has exceeded my expectations! This book is literally jam packed with great assessment tools, checklists, forms & ideas - perfect for both the new & seasoned coach. Plus, it includes a CD-ROM so that all of the information can easily be downloaded onto your computer, and printed out as needed.

Overall, I would highly recommend this resource to anyone in the coaching business!
