This remains the seminal work of its kind in the field and continues to be assigned by University professors around the world for use in Southeast Asian studies. Translated from Coedes native French, the book gives a clear and conscise history of the Indianization process that occured throughout South-East Asia in the first thousand years A.D. . Coedes is able to transcend the mist of time and make these civilizations come to life. He was amoung the first of the western historians to realize that the Indianization process was not one of a dominant Indian culture supplanting an inferior Southeast Asian culture, but of two great cultures amalgamating into a vibrant new form. Coedes takes us through the magnificent ruins of the Angkorian empire, in the jungles of Cambodia, and makes the ruins speak to the modern reader. He shows how every part of these cities were emersed in religous symbolism and splendor. This book is valuable for both the general and student reader. For any one interested in the history,art or religion of Southeast Asia this book is a must read.

From the supplier: Mask-making activities may be utilized to enhance students' grammar skills and self-expression. One such activity was developed by teacher Jean Kalick Molot and photographer Andrew Levine. It starts out with reading a book about emotions and asking students to list down emotions that come to mind. Students are also asked to relate these to personal experiences. Masks are constructed to express emotions chosen by the children and students are encouraged to express themselves freely. The activity is capped with a writing session where students write about their mask expressions.

The First Years at Cromartie High School have some competition within their school and outside of it. There's still Bass High School whose strategy meeting for deposing Cromartie's bad reputation becomes a focus on nose hairs. Not exactly brain surgeons. Destrade Industrial High also wants to dethrone Cromartie, but the problem is that its afroed leader, Noboru, wants to be a stand-up comic so his mind is always wandering to comedy routines while his colleagues talk of school battles. It's too bad he's not even funny. And then there is "The Four Great Ones", a clique of the worst second year students who wear Kiss make-up. Their main problem is that there are FIVE four great ones! There's lots of crazy stuff in this volume, including an alien abduction of Freddie, a plane highjacking on the school's field trip, and Mechazawa taking Kamiyama along to buy a computer, because Mechazawa says he isn't good with machines!

I have to say that this second volume was not as funny as the first. It did have its moments and it is funnier than most of the stuff you see on network TV. It just seemed like a bunch of jokes with no punchlines though. Hopefully, the next installment will bring it back to good form.

One might remember a few examples, such as Walter Murphy's chart-topping "A Fifth of Beethoven" or Eric Carmen's "All by Myself," but pass them off as interesting anomalies. However, the influence of the classics on rock music is pervasive and grows from a long line of precedents. This supplement to Janell R. Duxbury's original 1985 discography, Rockin' the Classics and Classicizin' the Rock, brings the earlier work up-to-date with hundreds of new entries documenting recently released or newly discovered examples of the interconnection between these musical genres. Duxbury details more than 300 new examples of recorded rock instrumentals and songs that borrow musical themes from the classics. This inexpensive little volume is by far the best book you can give your kids to occupy their minds with while traveling, or just trying to get them to be totally preoccupied by themselves. Boys and girls will become absolutely glued to this book, pondering over it, and sharing it with their friends, as the large variety of black and white illusions are incredible in their effects. They will encounter images that flip-flop, topsy-turvy figures, geometrical illusions, impossible figures, and motion illusions.

This is terrific value for the money. It is best for the ages of 6 to 12.

More conversational than helpful.......2007-05-31

This book talks you through the process and has some useful information, but spends more time on soft stuff and has very little of the info I needed, such as how to negotiate and points open for negotiation, how to write up the contracts, all the steps between the offer and closing, etc.. But, if you want a pep talk that you can do it, this is the book for you.

If you want a book that's actually useful, try the FSBO Handbook by Piper Nichole. It included stuff I never would have thought to ask about, but definitely needed to know. Written to be useful, not conversational. At each stage of the process, the FSBO Handbook gave me the info I needed.

BE VERY Carefull with the Free Listing Offer.......2006-01-27

I bought the 4th edition of this book, and this is the 5th Edition. I took advantage of the free Owners.com listing and am now regretting it 18 months later. I signed up with the Owners.com listing service this book recommended. Do not put your email address or phone number in your listing because your listing never goes away. I don't know if owners.com sold my info, or someone else copied it from the website - but the way it looks - I think it is identical to the Owners.com info and my belief is that they are the ones letting my listing be copied. But I've got a google alert for my email address - and every month, some new FSBO website is advertising my ancient listing (sold a year ago) with my personal information as a new FSBO. The companies listing it have no contact info to ask them to stop doing it. I've put in a complaint to the FTC. But I get phone calls from realtors to this day trying to convert my FSBO to a realtor listing. Here are the websites serializing my listing without my permission: http://www.fsbohouselisting.com/ http://www.changemystreet.com/ there are several others - but I didn't save the website. So be careful.

Valuable Practical Guide for Selling Your Home FSBO.......2006-01-26

I used the valuable, step-by-step, practical information in this book to sell my first house by owner, a rental house at that. Book does a great job explaining the FSBO process from start to finish, with lots of good advice on all decisions involved and troubleshooting problems along the way. I found one of the FSBO companies with a local office to be of great help with the earnest money paperwork, and free advertising on CraigsList brought in both leads that signed to buy the house. (ARG! My first buyer did not work out.)

This book really is a kit. It has a coupon for a free online listing and a sign you can use in your yard. I'm selling my own home for the second time and this is a great primer and reminder of how to do it. It tells everything you need. I learned about it from a Robert Bruss column in my newspaper where he gave it a 10 out of 10 and called it the best of the "for sale by owner" books. He's right.

This is a very well written and thorough book. Everything is hear to tell you how to sell your house - from marketing to closing. I used this book and signed up for the "internet only" option on BuyOwner. That's all I needed. I got between 1 and 5 inquires per week and sold the house within the month. I ended up saving over $14,000. Anyone who uses a realtor these days is just throwing their money out the window.
