Good artwork and a simple plot but with a slightly interesting, if twisted, ending. Sequel to the events of the anime, decades later, Saya is once again hunting down vampires - Chiropterans stalking teenagers. Will she be able to wipe them out or are they waiting for her?

When i got this book it was not what i had expected. it was pretty good as far as the story-line but it was quite graphic in well.....pretty much everything! but otherwises it was really good. i love vampire stories, so this was exciting as well as grusomely entertaining. if you are looking for a book that contains lotz of blood n' gore be sure to get this comic.

I've heard of the DVD and I checked it out, but I didn't buy it, even though I was dying to get it! Well, one day in a book store, my eyes came across this book, and I immediantly took it from the shelf. I sat down and read the whole book in the matter of minutes. Right in the beginning, it takes you into the book and fills you with confusion. But later on, it all comes together and satisfy your taste, but also leave you confused, wondering and wanting for more. :) It has some nudity, well...a lot...kinda, and one part of sexual humor. It also has some language. If you are one of those people like me, who don't mind those stuff, then you will LOVE this book!

I bought this book to use as a resource in preaching, but it was not that helpful. Some of the "funny" stories were about children being murdered in the holocaust, and others just didn't make any sense at all. I was very disappointed in this book.

Were movies in the East Bloc propaganda or carefully veiled dissent? In the first major study in English of East German film, Joshua Feinstein argues that the answer to this question is decidedly complex.
Drawing on newly opened archives as well as interviews with East German directors, actors, and state officials, Feinstein traces how the cinematic depiction of East Germany changed in response to national political developments and transnational cultural trends such as the spread of television and rock 'n' roll. Celluloid images fed a larger sense of East German identity, an identity that persists today, more than a decade after German reunification. But even as they attempted to satisfy calls for "authentic" images of the German Democratic Republic that would legitimize socialist rule, filmmakers challenged the regime's self-understanding. Beginning in the late 1960s, East German films dwelled increasingly on everyday life itself, no longer seeing it merely as a stage in the development toward communism. By presenting an image of a static rather than an evolving society, filmmakers helped transform East German identity from one based on a commitment to socialist progress to one that accepted the GDR as it was.

Interestng Look at a Little-Known Cinema.......2006-11-01
"Triumph of the Ordinary" is an interesting look at East German film. It does not try to cover all types of East German film. In particular it avoids discussing those films set in the Nazi era showing Communist resisters. Instead, "Triumph" looks at those films that showed daily life in the DDR.
The title of the book refers to the fact that the Communist leadership wanted films that showed the heroic building of a new society but had to settle instead for non-heroic films about people coping as best they could with circumstances. (Ironically, the book's cover photo is from one of the heroic "anti-fascist" movies that the book doesn't really discuss.)
I found this interesting, both in the discussion of the films and the political struggles behind the scenes. The only real problem I had was the book's last chapter, which began with the fall of the Berlin Wall and end of the DDR and then leaped back to the early 70s and continued through the end of the Eighties. The reason for this jarring change in chronology was too subtle for me to grasp.
However, "Triumph of the Ordinary" is strongly recommended for those interested in German cinema or cinema in Communist countries.

In Eastern Europe, artists, intellectuals, and entertainers are now free to create film outside the direct control of the state. Slater has compiled a valuable history of cinematic evolution in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe through the use of detailed historiographical essays for each country. The dramatic changes in the political and economic structures of Eastern Europe that occurred during 1989-90 have revealed even more about courageous filmmakers who worked under difficult conditions. Detective Max Payne returns to fight the crime world. Love comes calling, as the gumshoe's heart is under siege as well this time.
Helped me beat some of the hardest puzzles in the game. I turned to the guide whenever it seemed like I was stuck at an impossible spot.
Max is one of my favorite video characters. This game is a rare intelligent thriller. If you're tired of the same rocket-launcher binges against the same monsters and aliens, get into the murkiest world of all: the criminal mind.
Blow-By-Blow Depression.......2004-01-11
Reviewing a strategy guide for a game you are lukewarm about is one of those piquant experiences. Especially when the guide is better than the game. Unfortunately, Max Payne 2 failed to grab me. I didn't find it particularly difficult either. If you go everywhere and try everything you will eventually figure everything out. Except for maybe the last 15 minutes.
So here is a guide, put together by Tim Bogenn, that is a clear, easy to use walkthrough. One could almost fault it for a lack of emphasis on strategy, since it simply tells you what to do each step of the way. The only source of confusion is that Begenn chose not to provide maps, and sometimes the pictures aren't as graphic as they should be.
But if you need a guide, this will carry you through. It includes information on the advanced modes and weapons as well. Since there are exactly 12 weapons there really isn't anything left out. So this is a first for me - a five star rating for a guide to a game which I only gave 3 stars. Go figure!

Complete and Easy to Read........2005-01-11
Sandy Gadow's real estate closing book explained the part of the buying process which confuses most people, and where most of the costly mistakes can occur. I was able to understand the concepts and explanations which are provided, and felt confident enough to ask questions which I am sure saved me several hundreds of dollars. Before reading Sandy's book, I was intimidated by the professionals involved in a closing: for example, the attorney and closing agent, even the inspector involved. Knowing what questions to ask, I felt comfortable making lists of questions to ask, and which answers I needed. Although real estate laws vary state to state, this book does an excellent job of being all-inclusive for each state. Whether called "escrow", "closing" or "settlement", this book covers the essentials of a real estate deal.
In each chapter are "Tips" and "A Typical Misunderstanding" which lighten the reading and make the subject matter easy to follow along. The chapter on handling Tax-Deferred Exchanges was a welcome addition to the book. I was prompted to buy Sandy's book after watching her on CNN's show, "Open House."
I would recommend this book to anyone buying property, considering entering the escrow profession, or anyone interested in the investment aspect of real estate. I am now a real estate professional and am grateful for Sandy's book. I know the book helped me and I have recommended it to many of my friends and colleagues.

...it's the same book as her previous books - only the title has changed. If there were any minor editing done to the book, I didn't notice. If you've read or purchased one of her previous books don't waste your time or money.
Truth in Advertising.......2004-11-08
Gadow does an excellent job of providing a comprehensive view of a California Real Estate Closing. The subject matter is appropriate and well written. The illustrations, tables, charts and forms all useful. The only real problem with a volume like this is that all real estate is essentially LOCAL in nature.
Thus, many of Gadow's points and concepts are inapposite to other parts of the country. I found myself annotating my copy with local exceptions to Gadow's statements (I am a Real Estate Attorney in the Washington, DC metropolitan area). As with any volume with this much information there are certain errors that may have not been caught by the editors. For example, Gadow talks about obtaining multiple termite inspections. "Shopping for a clean termite inspection" and failing to disclose the known existence of termites is a patent violation of the Seller's duty to disclose known defects and could subject the homeseller to serious liability for any resulting damages incurred by the buyer.
Nevertheless, for the layman this book is an essential resource and I wish everyone of my clients would read it before coming to our office for their settlements.
