Broad coverage in this volume includes patterns and instructions for: military and civilian dress, men's and boys' coats, vests, pants, shirts and important accessories. Also photos of soldiers, additional illustrations of clothing, excerpts from the Army uniform regulations for 1861 and a section on the 7th Regiments New York National Guard.

Civil War Gentlemen: 1860'S Apparel Arts & Uniforms.......2007-02-18

This book has some good Civil War uniform information and patterns contained in it. Since there are very few "real" surviving patterns these patterns are helpful. There are pictures and information about the styles and types of cloth patterns, ie stripes and paiselys. Men used shawls in this period, something you do not see in photos. Lincoln's favorite shawl was a paisely which was popular in the 1860's image that. That information came from the other book you should have with this one, The Practical Handbook of Cutting on the Center Point System 1866. Civil War Gentlemen: 1860's Apparel Arts & Uniforms, contains the cutting information on the first American original suite design. That draft was called the New York Walking Suite. Designs prior to this time were from England and French designs. America gave the world the "Business Suite" during the era of the Civil War. This era launched America into a modern war, and a modern industrial nation. This book requires advanced skills and the patterns are small for the modern figure.

This book is chuck full of engravings, illustrations, patterns and photos of the period. I have been reenacting for 6 years and have never seen a better book on men's clothing of the 1860's. The only drawings in the book that are not from the period are very detailed drawings of original clothing items housed in the smithsonian and museum of the Confederacy.If you are at all interested in men's clothing history this is a great book for you.

A Piece of Brilliance in Your Hand, cont...........2004-09-20

Just because most reviews are by kids doesn't mean this is a kiddie comic. The artwork, storyline, and violence is all a treat. Read Vols. 1-12 first, and then read this one. To read DBZ more often, read Shonen Jump magazine; they give you 48 pages, plus a synopsis of the previous events. For a more detailed review read my editorial for DBZ Vol. 1, "This is a masterpiece"

More delights from Thurber's crazy world.......2002-01-25

The Thurber Carnival is really the must-have offering from the Thurber canon, but this book has some delights of its own. His assessment of the psychology behind his cartoons for The New Yorker is typical Thurber, the man at his sharpest. His gallery of wildlife sketches is as believable as it is ridiculous (his portrait of a gloat standing by a patch of I-told-you-sos being just one example).

Decent but not his best.......2001-02-02

Let me start by saying that James Thurber is an exeptional writer and most of his stuff is well writen and very readable. However this book while it contains some very good works is not his best work ever. The thing that really drew me to this book was the cover and title and I am glad I read it and did enjoy it, but I have enjoyed some of his other works more.

They should never have cancelled it.......2000-03-29

This was science fiction at its best. Alien Nation was so much more than spaceships and ray guns. It had both social awareness and entertainment value, and not in an after school special kind of way. As far as I know, this is the only book of its kind. The show's executive producer wrote the foreword. Best of all, there's a dictionary of often-used words and phrases in the alien language. They took the series away from us, but they can't take the memories. There's stuff about the comic books and novels, too.

A nice 3rd edition book.......2007-03-09

I enjoyed this book, it added interesting social and rules twists for new magic techniques. The gene-tech was so-so, but did inspire a number of potential new Shadowrun plot hooks. The new military vehicles for mercenaries were much needed. The other sections were nice as well.

If you're a Shadowrun fan who isn't entirely sold on 4th edition, you should get this book while it is available.

Truly the bible of all bibles!.......2007-09-30

I really enjoyed this book and continue to do so. As others have commented, it's not a cover-to-cover type of book, but I can reference any strategy so easily and get the salient information I need at the flick of a page.

I've also got the author's other book (Options Made Easy) and there's something different about the way he explains the subject of options that I previously found much more difficult and now find remarkably easy. Great book.

Great reference, full of errors.......2007-09-15

This book is an excellent reference book for options traders, novice and experts. It describes in great detail most of the strategies for trading options. I like the structure and the organization of the book. It helps easily locate a stragety based on several criteria, like your trading expertice or your perception of where the underlying stock is going.

I'm dissapointed at the amount of errors in the book. I've only read 2 chapters so far and have found, not only mispelled words, but errors related to the description of the strategy, risk and reward calculations and inverted names (call instead of put, for example).

If not for the errors, I would have given 5 stars to the book.

Technical Alanlysis "Bible".......2007-09-11

A large volume that covers just about anything you want to know about charting. I was most interested in Elliott Wave info and it has a good section about EW. For the options trader, this is the book to study.

I meet Guy during SF Money Show,it was a good experience.

One thing that i notice from most of options book, they are all talking the same thing, mostly strategy description, including this book. What i want from this book is more explanation towards when and how to the strategy should be applied when fundamental, TA and sentiment comes to picture.

Good referrence book.......2007-08-23

I did learn a lot of reading this book. I have read a number of options book but what I liked the most about this book was the method that it used to cover the option strategies by grouping them. Also by covering the variables for each option strategy in the same manner.

I use the data in this book in another manner as well. Often different groups UBS etc ask me to invest in some product that they have developed. I graph the the possible results and then compare that graph to the graphs at the back of this book to find the closest option strategy. I then read up on that strategy establishing where it works best, worst etc. This often gives me some insight as to where if any the product might fit into my investemnt portfolio. This is not the only selection criteria but it helps.
