The author of my book is Solomon J.Herbert and George H.Hill . Bill cosby was born on July 12'1937 in norher Philadelphia Bill Cosby dropped of school in the 11th grade to join the navy . Cosby finally completed high scool. During his four year hitch he won an athletk scholarchip to Temple University. Bill Cosby was a fullback on the footback team and tpo track and field runner he did the voice for Fat Alblred I rate the book 3 stars because the book was intresting and had imporant facts about his life.

Bill cosby is a comedian and an actor, he has a show call the Cosby Show. He is really funny, like the book said he is a family funny man. He has alot of talent. Bill Cosby was born in north philidephia on July 12, 1937. In this book Bill Cosby is the major character in this book. He has been in many movies,and shows, he also has written many books one of then was called Fatherhood it was one of the fastest selling hardback book. One other show and movie he made was Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. he was also in the show called the Cosby Show he was Dr. Hucstuble I really liked him in this show. The conflict he faced was the he grew up in a bad part of philidephia. Bill Cosbys confidence helped him succed in all his dreams.

Shonen Jump Series 1 Books.......2007-01-04

This was a gift for our son for Christmas!It was great he has read most all of them and now wants most of the series.

Shonen Jump Manga Magic.......2005-11-09

This is easily the best collection of Americanized manga out. As most know, Shonen Jump was at one time a Japanese exclusive magazine that made its hop across the Pacific in 2003 for American fans to enjoy. Since that moment, it's become the best in manga and now contains a majority of the manga juggernauts.

This collection is a great start for those of you who are interested in reading manga, or for those of you who missed out on some of the earlier issues of Shonen Jump and want to catch up on what's going on. It also has the beginnings to the Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z mangas, which can't be found in Shonen Jump.

Below is a listing of the manga in this box, as well as a small description of each:

(1) Dragon Ball: This is the start of the Dragon Ball world. It explains the origins of Goku and his relationship with the Dragon Balls.

(2) Dragon Ball Z: The beginning of one of the greatest animes ever in its purest form. Unpolluted with minutes-long shouting and infested with excellent action and story, this details the story of Goku as a father and a husband, as well as following some of the other favorites of the Dragon Ball world.

(3) Naruto: Probably the best in Shonen Jump, Naruto is a tale of a boy fox-demon who wants nothing more than to earn his place in the world, and does so by training to become a ninja, despite the mistrust directed at him by some of his teacher and the hatred he receives from his fellow students.

(4) One Piece: A boy eats the mysterious Devil Fruit at a young age, making his body into rubber and also cursing his body: should he ever fall into water, he would sink instantly to the bottom. Despite that, he wants nothing more than to be the pirate king of a world of oceans.

(5) Shaman King: Yoh, a boy who can not only see ghosts but control them, comes to Tokyo to train to become a powerful shaman in the hopes that one day he'll win the title of Shaman King.

(6) Yu-Gi-Oh!: A story of constant morals and themes, it details a young, pint-sized, pointy-haired boy's struggles with a mysterious puzzle/necklace that grants him dark super powers as well as an alter-ego.

(7) YuYu Hakusho: A juvenile delinquent dies saving a child and finds out that his next was entirely unexpected and therefore gains a chance to come back to life. What he later finds out is coming back to life also makes him a spirit detective.

Avant-garde films are often dismissed as obscure or disconnected from the realities of social and political history. Jeffrey Skoller challenges this myth, arguing that avant-garde films more accurately display the complex interplay between past events and our experience of the present than conventional documentaries and historical films. Shadows, Specters, Shards examines a group of experimental films, including work by Eleanor Antin, Ernie Gehr, and Jean-Luc Godard, that take up historical events such as the Holocaust, Latin American independence struggles, and urban politics. Identifying a cinema of evocation rather than representation, these films call attention to the unrepresentable aspects of history that profoundly impact the experience of everyday life. Making use of the critical theories of Walter Benjamin and Gilles Deleuze, among others, Skoller analyzes various narrative strategies - allegory, sideshadowing, testimony, and multiple temporalities - that uncover competing perspectives and gaps in historical knowledge often ignored in conventional film. In his discussion of avant-garde film of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, Skoller reveals how a nuanced understanding of the past is inextricably linked to the artistry of image making and storytelling.

I've been reading film criticism for two decades, from my first experiences with Bordwell `s film histories to Laura Mulvey's treatise on visual pleasure to the densely layered cinematic revelations of Deleuze. But it wasn't until I read Jeffrey Skoller's Shadows, Specters and Shards that I discovered the kind of lively, intellectually rigorous observations of a "film thinker" who allowed his adventurous imagination to tackle the sadly undervalued world of avant-garde film. As a teacher of film production and studies, I was thrilled to discover this erudite series of essays which have provided my New York University film students with a remarkable introduction to the works of contemporary experimental film artists. By describing and then interpreting their aesthetic processes, Skoller guides his reader through the political and historical dimensions of works by such illustrious makers as Ernie Gehr, Craig Baldwin, Leandro Katz, Dan Eisenberg and Zoe Beloff. If you are lucky enough to have seen these brilliant works of filmmaking, then you will find that Skoller's engaged observations will enhance your initial understanding. If you have not yet had this viewing opportunity, don't worry! Skoller provides such a vivid sound/image recounting in his analysis that your vicarious experience will prove surprisingly rewarding!

innovative techniques in alternate films portraying history.......2006-01-26

The filmmaker and associate professor of new media at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago sees that despite being "unapprehendable" though being "often sensed," the shadows, specters, and shards of the title "are nevertheless part of the energy of the past and exert themselves as a force on the present." It is the avante-garde filmmakers rather than the mainstream or conventional ones relying on narration, chronology, and cultural symbols who tap into such "unseen forces" in their films to create an "awareness of other temporalities in which linear chronologies are called into question in favor of other temporal structures such as simultaneity and virtuality." This not only better reflects the way individuals and societies are aware of history, but also reflects the innumerable heterogeneous incidents, events, personalities, tendencies, etc. which make for history and have little coherence. Skoller goes beyond analysis of the shards, etc., as characteristics of postmodern culture; and as these have often been used by writers and artists to reflect this culture or to comment on or in some cases criticize it. Skoller puts these characteristics in a useful and in some respects productive light by examining them as techniques rather than simply effects. His material is not laudatory, however; nor does it especially commend the techniques; for history does not lend itself to stable definition or complete comprehension by means of any techniques. The author is concerned mainly with noting that the shadows, specters, and shards despite their elusiveness, incompleteness, and even insubstantiality are better suited to not only recording but also conveying history. The material of the book is in large measure illustration of this central point by considering how movies by leading and influential avant-garde filmmakers such as Jean-Luc Godard, Daniel Eisenberg, Ken Jacobs, and Patricio Guzman have dealt with historical issues and material even though this has not been widely recognized or accepted.

Nice cards,sentiment there, but for me a single word directive affirmation is far more effective than a discourse on a virtue and allows me to evolve spiritually rather than just be impressed with what someone else says they know. Simplicity allows open exchange beteen the layers of mind and soul,stict confines don't,for me.

Angel Cards with Affirmations.......2005-01-27

I love these cards and use them at home and in my workshops. People are inspired by the cards and the affirmations and I often let them take their card home to further contemplate the meanings meant for them. They are simple, heartfelt cards.

Wonderful tool for group games and for personal churning.......2001-03-06

I have bought many different kinds of angels cards. This deck is the only one that really touches soul qualities. I find it to be the most naive and angelic. Among my friends this has been the deck of preference as well. I would highly recommend it to everybody... This can be used in many different ways. I use them for daily churning or inspiring others. In a group when we arrange "angels' night" we make use of the cards for further inspiration. And many many different ways.

These are cards with an afirmation. This is quite different from the original cards with just one word printed on them. Unfortunately the discription of the product does not identify it well. The afirmations may be nice for some, but are really rather narrow interpretations of the possible inspiration of the word itself.

Inspiration for every day.......2000-04-18

Of all the inspirational cards I have, these are my favourite. They are easy to use, have lovely illustrations and are a true inspiration for every-day living. They can be used at many levels from simple guidance to deep meditation. My kids take one each on the way to school each day to give them guidlines for the day and I also use them at workshops I give on a deeper level.They are also a very sensible size to carry around when giving workshops or travelling. If you want an all round, easy to use, adaptable set of cards I would have no hesitation in recommending these.
