Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description
In this study Larissa Bonfante traces the development of Etruscan dress from the eighth to the fifth century B.C.E., using as evidence actual remnants of costumes, sculptures and other artistic representations, and literary passages dealing with the subject. Bonfante explores Near Eastern influences on Etruscan dress as well as the relationships of Greek and Roman styles to Etruscan styles. She also addresses the problem of determining which garments were actually worn and which were only artistic conventions. In addition, by tracing the origin of each style of dress, she provides a chronology of Etruscan relations with the Near East and the cities of Greece.
For this paperback edition, an updated bibliographical essay discusses the latest research and discoveries in the field.
Customer Reviews:
A thoughtful, scholarly, and meticulous study.......2004-02-09
Now in an updated edition featuring a bibliographical essay discussing the latest archaeological research and discoveries in this specialized field of study, Etruscan Dress by Larissa Bonfante is a thoughtful, scholarly, and meticulous study of Etruscan clothing and custom from eighth to fifth century B.C.E. Drawing upon actual remains of dress and costumes, sculptures and other works of art, as well as literary and historical references, Etruscan Dress deftly explores the spread and intermixing of the various Etruscan, Greek, and Roman styles. Black-and-white photographs and illustrations showcase and underscore Bonfante's observations in an academically impressive and highly recommended narrative text. No academic library's Etruscan Studies collections can be considered comprehensive without the inclusion of this updated and expanded edition of Etruscan Dress.

The author of this funny, campy guide to feminine excess (Cosmo meets On Our Backs) succeeds brilliantly in laying down the fundamentals of Femme Shartopia, with hints on developing your own dreamy Queendom, replete with pink satin, go-go boots, and long genuine fingernails. "To grow your own nails," our guide explains, "you will need the following supplies: fiber strengthener, smoother, color, top coat (optional), orange stick, polish remover, cotton swabs." Don't despair. She goes on to detail the best ways to use those nails to drive your butch or femme partner to distraction. Other highlights include a recipe for the perfect martini--sorry, Shartini--as well as instructions on how to polish patent leather and revive Draggin' Disco Legs. Attitude, grooming, and relationships get equal time, and the author devotes many pages to the joys of true friendship. "I had one of my first S/M experiences with my friend Christina," she confides. "She lay me down on her kitchen floor and, while holding my spread legs down with hers, smeared wax over my bikini line, then ripped off the strips to the piercing din of my screams. Now that's sisterhood." --Regina Marler

Femme-tastic!.......2001-08-23
I sat myself down in a comfy book store chair to preview this book, and I couldn't resist- I had to take it home! Hilarious, light-hearted and empowering! It teaches everything from fix-it tips to dinner parties to mega-confidence! Fun for everyone and a real pick-me-up. Total femme without the prissy side effects!
This book is a MUST READ.......2001-07-06
This book must be read by any femme/butch/andro/bisexual/lesbian/trannie woman or boi.
It is the ULTIMATE living guide for a femme, and an absolute god send. LOOONG overdue, a book about the funky, fabulous, modern femme diva!
I LOVE SHAR!.......2001-03-17
Shar is amazing. Her book is fabulous. Feeling sad about your life? Forget all those self-help books and read this one! After ending an andro relationship and rediscovering my femme self, Shar helped me feel revel in my femme desires, redecorate my apartment with hot pink and purple fabrics, buy a tiara, and build myself a vanity. Seriously, Shar changed my life. Now, if I only had a butch charming or two . . .
Fun, Sexy and Practical.......2000-12-30
Shar Rednour's guide is exciting and fun for femmes, femme-wannabes, butches, or anyone else looking to sparkle up their life. Rednour gives her readers advice while taking us on a stroll through her life and how she came to be at the center of her own femme universe. She leaves no stone unturned in bringing out the essentials of the femme world - from makeup to high heels to home decorating to the joys of nonmonogamy. I liked that she also covered femme/femme dating as well as butch/femme dating. Even if you don't consider yourself a femme, this could be a useful book for any woman looking to spruce up her image and her self-esteem and self-knowledge. I found Rednour's forays into her own life helpful in illustrating her advice.
Smart, Sassy, and Practical.......2000-10-18
Oh, the joys of being femme! In a smart, stylish tone Shar Rednour delivers the do's and don'ts, the ins and outs, and the hits and misses of being a femme in the 21st century. My personal favorite (and perhaps the most useful) section is the dating guide, which takes up a good chunk of the book. Whether you're into other femmes or long after tough butches, the author's tips on flirting, wining and dining, and boudoir etiquette are sure-fire. This practical and uproariously funny guide will also help those "middle-of-the-roaders" find their true calling as high diva femmes. It's about time femmes had their own beauty/dating Bible. This is it!

Excellent.......2005-09-06
Having played in a CoC campaign by one of the authors (Steve Spisak) for several years, I can personally attest to the level of detail and playability of his work. This book is excellent and well thought out, as well as being eminently playable. 5 Stars.
A Great Buy!.......2001-12-18
It's good to see Chaosium getting back to topnotch books again. This one along with Unseen Masters, represents a "new wave" of Call of Cthulhu - as good or better than any of the stuff released in years.
You can't really go wrong with this package, it's got background resource material for the Goatswood area and a nice bundle of scenarios that look like fun to run (I can't wait to spring some of them on my group! HEH HEH HEH) I don't want to give away any spoilers but there's an S&M club, and the "GUARD" at the club is such a wicked idea not to mention the dude who runs the place. Good to see Ramsey the man himself giving the introduction, read his Silent Children book if you really want to get chills!
The artwork is decent, and lots of it. Plenty of handouts too, which are really important as far as I am concerned. One thing I could do without though is the side illustrations, they take up too much room that could maybe be used for information. But that's a small jibe compared to the value.
A Great Book!.......2001-12-16
I'm a longtime Cthulhu keeper but new to Ramsey Campbell (other than the material in the rulebook). The first half of the book is devoted to resource material covering magic, monsters and locations in the fictitious Severn Valley (well the Severn Valley itself isn't fictitious of course). The second half is devoted to a campaign of 7 or 8 scenarios. Everything is well written, well thought out and seems very playable. I'm looking forward to running it!
Campbell At Last!.......2001-11-30
I've waited a long time for this one, and the wait was worth it! It's chock full of scenarios (forming a campaign which you can ignore if you want), and lots of background material on Ramsey Campbell's Severn Valley. I wish there'd been more maps and maybe more info on some of the locations but all in all, this is a COOL package!

Turner, corporate mercenary, wakes in a reconstructed body, a beautiful woman by his side. Then Hosaka Corporation reactivates him for a mission more dangerous than the one he's recovering from: Maas-Neotek's chief of R&D is defecting. Turner is the one assigned to get him out intact, along with the biochip he's perfected. But this proves to be of supreme interest to certain other parties--some of whom aren't remotely human.
Bobby Newmark is entirely human: a rustbelt data-hustler totally unprepared for what comes his way when the defection triggers war in cyberspace. With voodoo on the Net and a price on his head, Newmark thinks he's only trying to get out alive. A stylish, streetsmart, frighteningly probable parable of the future and sequel to Neuromancer

Customer Reviews:
Weak sequel to Neuromancer.......2007-09-16
I read Count Zero immediately after finishing Neuromancer, because I really liked the latter book and intended to rip straight through the Sprawl trilogy. Following Neuromancer with Count Zero was like running into a brick wall for me. While the characters and locales were different than Neuromancer, I expected this and was fine with it. My problem was mostly with the writing style, which jumped around sporadically between three seemingly unrelated character perspectives, none of which were more than slightly interesting. This was a bear of a book to get through because of a weak plot, tons of mundane and unnecessary details, a choppy soap-opera-like writing style, and a real lack of that "futuristic" dystopian feel that Neuromancer so eloquently established. I really don't see what so many others seem to, and this novel has given me serious pause with regard to finishing the trilogy.
Gritty coporate samuri.......2007-09-12
This was my first exposure to Gibson and I was blown away. The tight prose and graphic imagery was intoxicating. Think of that..Gideon's Fall: When You Dont Have a Prayer, Only a Miracle Will Do
SF NOIR...POETIC DREAMSCAPES OF A DISTOPIC FUTURE...(Part 2).......2007-05-21
I have read this masterpiece (together with the other two of the Sprawl series: NEUROMANCER and MONA LISA OVERDRIVE) during my university years, about a decade ago. Since then I have re-read it countless times.
Of the three this is my favorite: good and evil voodoo legbas as AI cyberspace avatars; life in the Sprawl comes into focus, sharply. The eye-watering smog and the ozone smell of new electronics surround a storyline that moves on deserted highways with the assurance of an armored hovercraft..
Even reading only some pages brings up powerful imagery, unforgettable prose...
Start with NEUROMANCER. Then this one. And then MONA LISA OVERDRIVE.
A Masterpiece Trilogy!!! Own them all!!!
An okay sequel..........2007-03-30
This was William Gibson's follow up to his masterpiece "Neuromancer". This is an okay sequel. I guess once you've written something as mindblowing as "Neuromancer" there's really no way to follow it up. Sort of like "Matrix Reloaded" was an okay sequel to the original "Matrix".
Awesome book!.......2007-02-20
This is an awesome book if you're into Gibson or classic cyberpunk science fiction. The author likes to jump around a lot, so it may be confusing at the start but thats half the experience. This book is great if your a fan or The Matrix, Jonny Mnemonic, Shadowrun or other cyberpunk fiction. You should really read Neuromancer first, because this book is like a sequel to that. This is a classic book and a really good read. Well worth it.
