Book Description
Image Comics presents the very first art book by top cover artist Greg Horn. From his outstanding illustrations for Marvel to his unforgettable work in the ultra-competitive gaming and advertising fields, this edition will collect many of Greg's most renowned pieces. Included in this book are his commercial art projects for industry giants such as Nike, Bacardi, Sony, Ringling Bros., Universal Studios, and Allstate Insurance. Also featured in this publication are nearly 50 magazine covers painted for Wizard, The Official XBOX Magazine, 100% PSM (Playstation) and PCGamer magazines.
Customer Reviews:
A great art book.......2005-08-17
Greg Horn is a pioneer with his use of the digital medium in comicbook covers. He uses models who are 'perfect' for most of his artwork, and his composition of characters is excellent. However, there are many digital artists out there who can do similar type of work with similar skill in terms of producing similar type of art. Greg Horn's point of difference is that he found a niche with comicbook heroes... which is great to see! This book is definitely worth the money!
I'm not worthy!!!!.......2004-12-16
If God was an artist, this is the book he'd make. So much art variety in this, just makes me want to gawk at each page in admiration. And that's what I did. Each page has so much detail, emotion, flavor, color, intensity, and freshness that you just want to hold the book open and just stare at a page for a long time.
My personal favorites:
(there are no page numbers so I'll try to describe them)
Emma Frost #1 - this was a marvel comic cover - emma is a popular comic book character with blonde hair wearing a white oufit, white thigh highs, with her hands in white gloves and an alluring bustline looking downwards with ivy stonework behind her - her skin looks so real you want to just bite her
Elektra #3 - another marvel comic cover - elektra holds two daggers crossing each other with a red bandana on her head and there is smoke and fire behind her and fire in her eyes, detailed ribbons on her arms, and dripping water all over her body. HOT!
2004 Olympic Basketball Team - This is probably one of his most well-known pieces of art, especially to those not familiar with his comic books. It shows the entire Olympic Basketball Team - their faces, bodies, and jersies are recognized around the world and look exactly like them. Greg Horn even talks about the difficulty it took to put this together, considering several players were replaced during the making of his painting.
Bacardi DJ Babe - Some people have seen this on the Bacardi website - a hot brunette chick wearing a black bikini top while spinning her fingers over a turntable with disco lights spinning behind her. Popular piece. And you see why!
2 Fast 2 Furious - This is probably my absolute favorite! A hot chick with tall high heeled sandals and a short skirt showing the most amazing legs you've ever seen who is standing between two drag racing cars. Most of the painting is black and white but the cars are red and green and have these electro lights shooting at you through the page.
This book even has pictures of how he completes the task of a "painting" which involves sketching, coloring, computer airbrushing, color correction, touchups, etc. Very well put-together!
Some of the subject matter includes: spiderman, black widow, emma frost, elektra, iron man, the hulk, battleship scenes, circus acts for the Ringling Bros, the Lebron James Billboard, medieval withchblade and horses, cars, vampires, black tiger, fathom, S.K.U.M.M., serpentor, several Lord of the Rings illustrations, angel warrior, tomb raider, lightning, ninjas, sexy gorgeous babes, military theme stuff with soldiers and machine guns, mythology, women in bikinis, and too much to mention!
I love the way it is all layed out too. It's not done boring like some books where they just put the art and that's it. Greg Horn designed all the pages himself and it looks really high-tech and very professional. Sometimes he'll write a sentence or two on the side of the page to describe how he got the inspiration to start it. He has a great (well it's not so great but it's funny) introduction by Brian Michael Bendis who is another well-liked artist.
In the back of the book is a spread of pages of behind-the-scenes photos where you see Greg Horn at home with his wife, you see him with other artists like David Mack and James Hudnall.... you see photos of the models he used to create some of the illustrations, photos of the emma frost statue, different marvel paraphernilia such as books, action figures, even a PEZ dispenser that has Greg Horn's art on it.
I had the pleasure of meeting Greg at the San Diego Comic-Con and he is as nice in person as he is talented. And he even writes his fans back. I really can't tell you how much I like this book and can't wait to see his second!
A well-done anthology for a spectacular artist. .......2004-12-07
Similar to Alex Ross's "Mythology" that was released last year, "The Art of Greg Horn" chronicles the many different styles and artistic pieces Greg has released throughout his career. From sexy pin-up pieces of the White Queen (Emma Frost) to his various Spiderman, Black Widow, and other comic book pieces, Greg Horn's creations have blanketed the comic industry for many years. This book thankfully covers those years with an in depth look at the artwork, while often providing the original pencils and artwork Greg bases his fabulous computer painting on.
Granted only true Greg Horn fans like myself will probably part with our hard earned dough for this great book, but if you like the cover art I promise it is well worth the money. The interior pages of this book are to die for.

Book Description
Let's get one thing straight. I'm not. I'm out and proud. When I'm out and it's raining I carry an umbrella. I used to be in but I hate the smell of mothballs. My closet was huge, complete with a foyer, turnstile, a few dead bolts, and a burglar alarm that had to be deactivated before I could even touch the door handle. And then there was the storm door. It wasn't until I had lived and slept with a woman for a year that it occurred to me to ask, "Do you think we're lesbians?" By the way, never come out to your father in a moving vehicle.
Now I've written a book. It's not as easy as it looks. One night, I was working late on my computer when a little message came up on the screen, "You are almost out of memory." Here are my thoughts and observations on everything from gay marriage (Mad Vow Disease) to my morbid fear of mascots (with the exception of the San Diego Chicken). That's all I'm going to say because I don't want to spoil it for you. That's a job for Jesse Helms.

Funniest Person on Earth.......2004-07-09
If you like lesbian and gay humor you are in for a treat. Kate will keep you laughing from the first word until the last word of this book. Laughter is the best medicine.
READ OUR LIPS: ENOUGH ALREADY.......2002-09-29
Mainstream lesbian comedian (and Provincetown resident) Kate Clinton's humor is showcased in this collection of 26 short pieces -- part stand-up routine, part essay, part schtick. Some of them are quite funny: "Whenever a woman describes herself as 'post-feminist,' I picture women lashed to posts. Joan of Arc was an early post-feminist." Some are mildly amusing: "Jean Harris was an early hero of mine. Who hasn't wanted to blow away a diet doctor?" Some are perfectly dreadful: "When CBS sportscaster Ben Wright claimed women don't make good golfers because their boobs get in the way of things, I thought, 'Two words, Ben. Beer. Gut.'" Once you get her started, you might want her to shut up. For a bit.
Funny Book by a Terribly Funny Woman.......2000-08-09
I found myself laughing throughout this wonderfully funny book, however it would have been considerably funnier preformed. Clinton is among my favorite Comediennes, and proves again to have an inteligent wit. The book drags in places, however, when tone and motion are simply necissary additions. So I recomend having someone read this to you while adding tone to their voice and motion to their bodies! Or simply watch her live or listen to one of her CDs.
Laughed till I wet my pantiliner.......1999-06-15
Great book, but I wanted to verify the statement by Maggie B. concerning Rosie O'Donnell. My cousin, Wanda, is in her chub club and before she was allowed on the set, Rosie herself stuck her head in the green room and said, "If any of you are queer, keep it to yourself".
Not As Funny As I Had Hoped.......1999-05-05
I first saw Kate Clinton on "Out Loud and Laughing" and found her extremely hilarious. I found her topics in her comedy to be something I could really relate to, as well as her dry, sarcastic wit that was applied to every single comment, almost as sinful as buttered popcorn. I had been looking forward to this book for a long, long time.
Imagine my surprise when I read the book and hardly laughed, but more importantly, had to FORCE my way to get to the end. It was a difficult read not because of the language or the topics, but because I didn't care about what she had to say. It seemed too wordy, as if there wasn't any real point she was trying to make, but that she had to fulfill her 60,000 word contract deal.
I had better hopes for Ms. Clinton's book and hope that if she releases another one, she has a goal in mind; namely, a point.

"Don't Get Me Started" about how much I loved this book!.......1999-11-20
Incredible history. This man kept incredible records...about our society, our history and everything in between. The pictures are phenomenal...and the fact that it is in hardback, and in larger print, make it truly a great gift! The perfect "Coffee Table" book.

Customer Reviews:
Interesting Points .......2007-04-17
This book is interesting but I also just finished reading "Kiss Theory Good Bye" by Bob Prosen on leadership and management just published and it is also a very actionable and timely book.
The thing I did like about 'nuts-n-bolts' is the Top Ten lists in each chapter, in particular "the top ten communication tools" were very good.
CEO Tools.......2007-01-23
Excellent book. I have bought approximately 80 books and have all my vice presidents and managers using it.
CEO Tools: The Nuts-n-Bolts of Business for Every Manager's Success.......2006-11-05

On the mark.......2005-03-04
Kaig Kramers consistently delivers useable, practical business ideas for those loking to really take their companies or their careers to the next level. In a 'been-there, done-that' approach, he addresses tools that every high performing executive should keep at the ready.

CEO Tools:The Nuts-n-Bolts of Business for Every Manager's S.......2005-01-02
Having access only to the Table of Contents and one page of text, I believe that this book addresses the vital area of business tools and that the tool types covered are most important. What I can't state, from only the one page of content, is how well this is done.
