Book Description
The Konstantinov is dispatched to help quell the uprising in the province of Nokgorka, and Skymarshall Urik Antares is ordered to send ground troops into the city of Bahamut over his objections. The skymarshall's concerns prove well-founded, as the Nokgorkan resistance does heavy damage to the invading krawl units. When her friend Alexandra is killed in action, Sorceress-Major Maya Antares enters Bahamut to find the body - and perhaps be reunited with her friend and with her long lost husband, Marcus. But at Alexandra's grave, Maya finds an opportunity for rebirth, not merely for herself, but for her country.
Customer Reviews:
Nokgorka.......2006-07-12
The book in itself is amazing. Artwork incredible, the story is nice. The only downpoint is the poor quality of the book (materials). I had the same probleme with volume one. When you open the book, it almost breaks to pieces which is bad. But the story and the art are worth it.
Great Red Star collection.......2004-05-11
This TPB collected Red Star vol1. issue 6 to 9 or (6,7,7.5 and 8)Don't get me wrong. Red Star story and art are superb as always. But you had better off buy the Red Star collected Edition ISBN: 0971471428. In that edition, you will get vol1. issue 1 to 9 + Run Mikita Run (Multiple award-winning Annual).
This TPB is not a good entry point to Red Star saga as in this volume, Maya meets with Makita. (The two main characters I must say. ) And the past flashback of Maya, Alexandra and Marcus are revealed with heart-warming moments of Makita and Proto. If you haven't read Run Makita Run or Battle at Kar Dathra's Gate, you would not feel so strongly to the characters and may be a bit lost in the story.
But if you have Kar Dathra's Gate and Run Makita Run, this is the excellent TPB with cliffhanger at the end.

One of the funniest books on chating up women........2004-07-16
This book is a great laugh all the way though. Its got a lot of advice and given in a humouress way. This book is the pocket edition of the same title/same author.
I gave this book 4 stars because the bigger edition of this book deserves the 5 stars. And,the bigger edtion is the funniest book on chating up women. This is a good book and plenty of laughs.Ideal present too.
Much was expected, but little was delivered........1999-08-14
Have you ever bought a book which you read from cover to cover, and then asked yourself at the end,'what have I actually learned?' I would consider myself a reasonably good looking guy, but my lack of experience with girls meant that I lacked the confidence in approaching a girl and asking her on a date. Granted, I never expected miracles from this book, but at the very least I expected some tips and confidence building advice that could help me gain the confidence for myself. After reading the entire book (in about 1 hour), I was very disappointed. It was then clear to me that this was not a so called 'self-help' book. Instead it contained the sleazy, chauvanistic comments about women that you would expect in some back street, stand-up comedy show. The book's presentation was so amateurish and tacky, you would be forgiven if you thought some 'sex-starved' teenager wrote it. In a nutshell, this shallow, narrow minded book would only inspire those guys who simply want to pick up any old tart in the bar and take her away for sex. If your're a guy who simply wants advice in how to chat-up women, this book is not for you. If you want to pick up a prostitute, then the book is most definately for you. The title of this book is a darn right deception, and I fell for it.

Customer Reviews:
Straight to the point for those comfortable with Flash 5..........2003-01-14
This book does a very admirable job for what it was designed to do - to be a guide of the new features provided in Flash MX for those of us whom were VERY familiar with Flash 5.
As a designer whom has used Flash since 1998, this book provided me with a simple tour of the newer features I should look for and use in Flash MX. While the book may not get much use past the first read-through - you don't have to worry about buying a book and skipping past the first 200 pages of fundementals to learn what was different - and that is very comforting.
If you're new to Flash - this is not the book for you. If you made your living using Flash 5 - the time you'll save quickly skimming through this book and seeing the differences between versions 5 and MX (there's quite a few of them) is definately worth the book's cost.
some mistakes, but otherwise pretty good.......2002-11-13
There are some great aspects about this book, but also quite a few that take away from them. First of all, there are some things which are errononous -- ie: just about all of the Accessibility coverage (quite an important new feature) -- some of the things it tells you to do won't work. That piece of code is for something entirely different, not checking accessibility. Secondly, some of what is said about video is not correct as well. Finally - some of the tutorials are not completed -- it says they will be in a "later chapter" - but this doesn't seem to occur. Perhaps this book was rushed out (the typos and grammatical errors might explain this - why the review goes from a "3" to a "2"). Anyway, apart from that some valuable points and lessons in this one.
Good starter.......2002-11-12
This was my very first MX book
(after about 10 on Flash 5), and
I was quite happy to get an overview of the new features.
As it is an overview, some details will be
missing; as you have a good choice now,
maybe get something more in-depth.
Still, one of FoED's best authors!
Certified flash developer.......2002-09-07
I must say, its great to learn all the new features, without having to wade through a whole book on flash mx A-Z.
I am glad that he covered the freetransform tool indepth with its new features of distort and envelope modifiers, this allows a programmer like me to make faux 3D and other fancy shapes that you could never do in flash 5, you would have to break out illustrator/freehand, which then you would have to know those application to accomplish the same thing you can do in MX in 2 seconds, yes you still need those apps if your gonna do really complex shapes etc...
I think macromedia has solved 90% of the problems and complaints with flash 5
don't forget to donwload the source code and errata from the website.
This book saved me time & $$!!!!.......2002-06-08
This book is more than worth the price (even without the 30% discount!)
I totally disagree with the negative reviews. Sham is a very
good writer, and makes learning Flash a fun experience. His book is geared to anyone who has a working knowledge of Flash5, and just wants to get up to speed on MX, and he states that
plainly.
This book is invaluble in exploring all the new features of MX.
I'm verrrry happy with it!
Thanks, Sham, and Friends of Ed for producing great Flash books! Keep it up, mates =)
Book Description
The Soul of Rock 'N Roll follows the careers of top African American recording artist in the Rock music genre from 1950 to present.
African American musicians and singers invented Rock 'N Roll. Consequently, in the 1950s, pioneering artists like Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and Ike & Tina Turner set the sound, style and performance standards for the next 50 years. In the 1960s, African American artists like Aretha Franklin, James Brown, and Jimi Hendrix continued to raise the bar of excellence and artistic discipline, while using their celebrity to further the cause of social justice.
In the 1970s, African American artists like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and The Jackson 5, took the spirit of social and economic empowerment and ascended to a whole new level of singing, songwriting and performance in contemporary music. So did multi-talented artist like Prince, Living Colour, and Run DMC in the 1980s; these highly progressive new-age artists toured the world in stadiums, and delivered the visual and sonic message of professional excellence to 50 thousand people at a time.
Most recently, 1990s and new millennium African American Rockers lead the way toward more cultural acceptance and diversity in rock music; artists like Janet Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, and Ben Harper are again blazing trail to a new frontier of racial and cultural inclusiveness in modern music and American society.
The Soul of Rock 'N Roll highlights and celebrates the powerful influence of African Americans in rock music, and this work is a "must read" for any person who considers themselves a serious fan of ROCK 'N ROLL!
Customer Reviews:
It is about time!.......2004-12-01
It is about time that the roots of Rock and Roll were given its proper respect. So long for anything to hold validity in this country it had to be connected to European power.I appreciate reading how African Americans, "Black Folks" not only contributed but originated what is truly an American Art Form.
J. Othello has done a phenominal job in showing the validity of the bebop, soul, rock and roll, hip hop culture and its history. I hope he writes more, perhaps a more extensive chronical of Rap and Hip Hop or alternative black rock groups.

Must BUY Book! It is loaded with a lot of information, techniques and methods.......2007-07-26
I decided to buy the Audio book version of the Million Dollar Habits, and this book is loaded with a lot of AWESOME life changing information, techniques and methods.
Brian Tracy will help you improve your emotional and financial intelligence that a lot of people are lacking! Most people make a lot of financial decision based on their emotion, and their emotion gets them into a lot of trouble, like buying a luxury car that they can't afford! They look good but they go no where financially.
If you are really serious of trying to improve your financial life, this book is must read! Thank you again Brian Tracy for putting together a great program like this one!
Must buy!
Million dollar Habits.......2007-05-14
This audio Book really helps to focus your mind on wealth creation.
Every time you listen to it you pick up something new.
My Advice is to have your pen and note pad ready to jot down the ideas.
Great, Practical Advice.......2007-03-29
This is an interesting book in that it takes a look at the little things we do every day...our habits... and points out how those little things add up to what makes our lives prosperous and extraordinary or average. Tracy addresses everything we do from how we think about money to what we eat and if we do or don't exercise. Since I own my own coaching business and coach other business people, I especially liked the chapter on marketing and sales. His 7 P Formula was really helpful for those who think marketing and sales are beneath them or too difficult. The final "P" is people. First, last and always, we must be about people and how we treat them. If for nothing else, I give this book a high rating. Even though it is about becoming wealthy, Tracy makes clear the truth, that without people an good relationships everywhere, the millions won't bring what you really want them for: to be happy.
Anyone can do this if they put their mind to it and follow the practices in this book........2007-01-10
Brian Tracy shares proven power practices that you can turn into habits that can help you become a millionare or be succesful. Changing habits is a hard job, identifying what those habits need to be and replacing bad habits with habits that can help you be succesful is no longer a mystery. Brian will give you tips, ideas and specific steps you can take to make a huge change in your life. I have taken many of his ideas and tried them and I can tell you that they work. Try it for yourself and you will see a big difference in your quality of life.
I doubled my income this past year following this advice!.......2006-10-13
While there is much new information in this book, what hit me on the head like a baseball bat was all of the things that I already new but wasn't doing and never made them habits. It's not what you know, it's what you use. Tracy has a way of hammering this.
Some people didn't like the book? That is there opinion and choice. But I have to wonder how they are doing financially and what they do with their time?

Customer Reviews:
Insightful and Useful Guidance.......2007-02-23
This is an insightful and enlightening guidance on how to achieve success through adopting some winning habits. Drawing from his experiences, Ringer presents the following ten basic habits which are crucial for succeed in life: simplicity, positive attitude, perspective, high moral principles, human relations, drain people habits, present living, self-discipline, and the action habit.
The book was very informative and helpful. It is simple, clear, and gives ideas that are sensible and workable. The book contains a lot of practical and useful ideas that can help you. The habits make sense but very often, they are not practiced, in view of the fact that, although they are simple, they are not easy. The author has a profound understanding of human behaviour as he has had some serious setbacks in life from which he recovered and went own to achieve remarkable success.
The book is recommended to anyone with a sincere desire in the development of their potential.
What a gem of a book :) .......2007-01-23
Ringer does it again, this and looking out for #1 are tied for my favorite Ringer books. Here is page after page of wisdom coming from the the experiences of an action oriented and open minded man.
Ringer bravely takes off the glasses of illusion and stares at reality for what it is, often it is painful/horrible, but it is the only way to truly "live".
Even Robert himself gets into Something for Nothing Urge.......2006-07-14
I take one star off due to Robert claiming that we can get wisdom from learning others in Chapter one
Delusion:
Getting wisdom without paying?????
Reality:
Unless your parents are millionaires, then you are able to get millionaire wisdom for free or without reciprocity. According to some millionaire books (I don't recall which one), most millionaire will keep their mouth shut and only listen, they don't disclose money making secrets or wisdom to anyone, as this create more competitors. It is not selfishness, they paid a lot to get these wisdoms or went through 20 years to get them, and it is not easy for them to hand out.
Sometimes, other person wisdom is not applicable, it is just a framework, as everyone' condition is different from others. Life is not 1+1 = 2. Not all Robert books readers will become rich, no matter how hard they try or read. Anyone who has business, will experience this, some traps are not predictable.
Also, NOT all millionaires have the traits (not even one) mentioned this book, some are not educated. The timing makes them rich, like today in China, you will see some self made millionaires are from farms, they don't read Robert's book or Millionaire Next Door, have no idea on manners. Still able to get rich quick.
Question I ponder "are dishonest and millionaire mutually exclusive?" I have seen so many dishonest millionaires, they involved in kick back (one of their dishonesties) which is a norm in certain industries. But they are still millionaires. US president insist on no adultery in front of million audiences. Does he lie? Yes, he does, is he a millionaire? Yes. Is he trustworthy now in most people mind? I think so, as he is always on stage to tell his theory. How many dishonest millionaires like Enron executives are still at large? Still pretty of them. So many millionaire employers do not pay poor employees' salary.
It is also impossible to get rid of drain people, as drain people can be parents or close relatives. How to get rid of drain parents???? Not close to them??? Only way is to deal with them. But author does not mention. Many parents are dream killers, their intents are good, they don't want their children take risks.
Everyone wants 20/80 life, but where is 20???? There are numerous hurdles to get to the 20. I know only 20% of products generate 80% profit. But where are they??? How do I get them??? Ways of getting them are pricy, you need to spend, loss first or even go bankrupt. I know the theory, I expect I need to spend few years to figure out where the 20% of products are or how to get them.
Other parts of book about impulsive urges, drain people... are good. That is true; my several decision mistakes are due to impulsive urges. Sometimes, men sexual urge due to women is fatal. I have seen so many cases.
Read carefully and decide for yourself.......2006-04-29
I have a friend who is a self made millionaire. This is his favorite "success" book. Please notice that I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. The following comments are primarily critical, but I hope to add more value to the discussion by questioning the book. If you just want to read praise of the book, read all the other reviews.
Quote: "Life is nothing more than the sum total of many successful years; a successful year is nothing more than the sum total of many successful months . . . and a successful week is nothing more than the sum total of many successful days."
Reply: Life is not simple addition. The reality is one mistake can devalue 100 successful actions, or 100 successful days. Life is not always linear & progressive. I agree with the spirit of the author's statement, that success can be promoted by repeatedly doing profitable daily habits, but positive & negative actions are often not equally weighted. The cost of a negative action is often larger than the benefit of a similarly positive action.
Quote: "Success is not a grand slam home run. It's a matter of consistently hitting those singles and doubles every day."
Reply: Success can be a grand slam home run. It has been for me several times. But the author is right, most of the time it is not. But when life gives you a grand slam, it is important to know how to recognize it & perserve it. A person should appreciate their good fortune, and realize extraordinary acheivements & luck are not necessarily normal or sustainable.
Quote: "Reality is precisely the same for everyone. There is only one reality. What differs is each person's perception of reality."
Reply: While I agree in large part, it must equally be emphasized how different perceptions of reality and truth vary. There are at least 2 dangers. 1st: A person can get in trouble being too certain they have THE correct perception of reality. It's important to always have the ability to concede a perception of reality if data suggests the perception might be wrong. 2nd: Even if your perception of reality is correct, if you don't understand another person's perception of reality, you will still often err in dealing with them.
Quote: "Life is a never-ending stream of hardships . . . None of these are fatal; they're just life."
Reply: I like the author's intent here, but the principle is overstated. It is important to remember that some mistakes are fatal & final.
A final thought: The book regularly suggests that success is more simple than it is. The book hypocritically uses the "Something for Nothing" temptation it warns against. Success is not simple.
useful, insightful, and actionable.......2005-05-21
Robert Ringer discusses 10 habits (in order of importance) that contribute to success:
1. Accurate perception of reality
2. Developing an attitude to objectively evaluate alternatives and creative out-of-the-box thinking in the face of difficult situations.
3. Keeping problems in relative perspective, e.g., comparing day-to-day problems with true catastrophes such as death of near-ones, life-long disability / disease enables one to not panic unduly from more "normal" problems
4. Live in the present - identify what you enjoy doing and are naturally good at. Then, continuously seek opportunities that enable you to spend more time on these activities.
5. Morality - Every action has a consequence although the final result may be delayed. Taking short-cuts eventually come back to bite you and damage you in a variety of ways.
6. Numerous ways to improve human relations including brevity, compassion, assertiveness, discretion, closure, genuineness, refined behavior, responsibility & commitment, tolerance, and win-win.
7. Simplicity - evaluate your time / frustration costs and let more grievances slide,
8. Discontinue reltionships with folks that drain you
9. Self-discipline
10. Action / persistence
The habits are easy to understand and are intuitive. Reading the book will help you identify and act on several improvements.
