The paintings in this book make fantasy look like reality, they look like photographs and the images seem so real. The earth and the trees generate energy and light. The atmospheric, surreal night-time landscapes and mythical creatures in this book will lead you to believe that they truly exist. I also loved that there were detailed explanations from the artist of what she was trying to achieve, as well as pictures of the works-in-progress! I highly recommend it.

Wonderfully informative .......2006-08-10
The information presented in this book is amazing in its scope and depth. Histories of anything usually leave me bored, but I was thoroughly impressed by the unusual yet thorough way Morris presented the information. It is not intended to be a how-to manual. The word history in the title should tell you that. If you just want to know how to make perfume, soap, candles, etc. and don't want to be knowledgeable about your product then this is not for you. Personally, I found it fascinating.
Focus is on fragrance history.......2003-04-09
I rented this book out from the library hoping to learn more about the steps taken to create a fragrance. Unfortunately, the information there is sparse compared to the amount of time the author spends on the history of fragrance. The chapter on essential oils is excellent and provides a nice introduction. The section on the business of fragrance is paltry. The author writes well and the information is straightforward.

Not Your Daddy's Pin-Ups -- Really a Magazine.......2004-12-06
Although sold like a book, this is really a magazine. This first edition starts the series dedicated to the female form in art. But this is not just a collection of pinups that have been popular for decades. Instead these poses show far more than is typical. As the punish title hints at, there is hardcore between these covers.
Most of the book has galleries of various artists but there are also two comic stories. The artists depicted are Lorenzo Speronga, Carlos Diez, Drew Posada, Shin, Marcus Gray, Jon Hul, Barbara Jensen, Sonia Roji, Easel Peetz, Steel, Harzak, Jeff Pittarelli and Erik Drudwyn. A number of other artists also have some art here. The stories are Angel Baby by David and Sperlonga, and Alrune by Greis and Robi.
Not for the faint of heart.
Not Worth the Price.......2004-02-18
There are a few nice pieces of art here but for the most part this collection is not that good. The comics that are inside are not that well drawn. Definately NOT WORTH THE PRICE!!

I've had a copy of this book since 1975 and passed it on to my youngest son. This book as been part of our family since I was a teenager and will continue to be as long as it's avaible.
Amateur Magician's Handbook (AMH) by Henry Hay.......2006-08-03
This one book will open the doors of magic for you. The first two chapters are essential for the reader to understand how to create magic in the minds of the spectators. Mr. Hay is an excellent teacher and motivator. Although his passion was coin magic (T. Nelson Downs was his boyhood hero), he teaches classic sleights for cards, coins, thimbles, balls, silks, etc. He gives wise counsel on buying apparatus, how to stage a magic show, performing for children, how to practice, and more. Although the AMH was originally written in 1950, the books listed in his bibliography are still recommended reading today. I had the rare opportunity to meet Mr. Hay in Germany and he was cordial and still proficient in his hobby. Do you want to learn magic? Buy this book.

Henry Hay (pen name for June Barrows Mussey, who was a journalist and translator as well as magician) was probably the best magical writer that ever lived. Several professional magicians have learned from his clear prose, including Johnny Ace Palmer, Gary Oulette (producer of the WORLD'S GREATEST MAGIC specials), and David Copperfield. If it was good enough for those guys, it's good enough for anybody. It was certainly good enough for me. I still refer back to it at times, and I've been into magic since I was twelve. I'm twenty-one now. Buy this book and learn all that it has to teach. Count yourself very lucky if you can find a good copy.

If you are interested at all in magic then this is the book to get. It lets you in on the secrets of a whole realm of different magic tricks (coins, cards, stage, close, etc....). Whats great about this book is that if you are new to the "hobby" then you can sample a little of alot and find what really interests you, then you can delve into another more specific book with deeper content.

This is one of the finest modern magic books available to the general public. It teaches how to entertain with magic, not just how the tricks are done. It is an all-encompassing book, with major sections on all types of sleight-of-hand, mentalism, self-working (head) magic, and apparatus magic. Couple this book with the Mark Wilson Complete Course In Magic and Bill Tarr's 101 Easy Magic Tricks for a comprehensive library for beginners and intermediates alike. I have dozens of other, more advanced fine magic books, and I have done magic for 30 years as a hobby, but I refer to Amateur Magician's Handbook regularly. Very Highly Recommended!

An excellent book that takes you through start to finish on the operating principles of a business and the reasons behind each process. This provides a good framework for you to fashion what is appropriate for your business given the circumstances you are in at this point in time. The book is logically laid out, explained in simple language and very easy to apply in a practical business environment. This is the best book I have read on establishing a business plan that can either be highly operational, tactical or strategic in nature or have these elements combined in a manner that meets your current needs.

I find this book way superior to many other books on the subject. At the same time, it approaches business plans with small boxed anecdotes and an easy-going attitude (alla "...for dummies" but a far better level). Also differences between British and U.S. accounting terms are explained, giving the book a touch of international reach. At all times you have the feeling of being in company with a very talented and experienced author.

Written for serious professionals, and assumes a modicum of intelligence, out of all the books claiming to assist in designing a business plan, this is the only one that actually comes close to anything serious. Have a look at the sample pages to see what I mean.
