Book Description
"Davis Cone's extraordinarily realistic paintings of old movie theatres . . . [produce] a sharp ache of recognition of a kind of innocence that is somehow irretrievably lost. Or perhaps, because Mr. Cone's work represents these images of Americana so accuratelyóand with such a subtly elegiac quality-the emotion we feel is as of a distant memory suddenly recaptured."
-Peter Bogdanovich For more than two decades, in his widely collected paintings of America's old movie theatres, Realist artist Davis Cone has been preserving cherished memories from an era gone by. Cone's brilliantly precise paintings of the glittering Art Deco fantasy palaces that once lent magic to main streets across the nation recall the thrill of going to the movies in the days before malls and multiplexes. The text not only reveals much about Cone the artist but also covers the history and architecture of the theatres themselves. Sadly, many of the theatres painted by Cone no longer exist. But the spirit of all Popcorn Palaces remains alive in this evocative and nostalgic book.
Customer Reviews:
The rise of the art deco theater and it's place in architectural art. .......2007-05-07
The paintings in this book are so realistic that they look like photographs. The art work depicted is amazing. The detail of the paintings is outstanding from the theaters to the cracks in the sidewalks
Along with the paintings there are stories about the theaters. With each painting the authors give the street location of the theater. The book doesn't really give a detailed history of any of the theaters other then generalizations like construction dates. The authors do a good job of detailing the history and popularity of the art Deco theater. While it doesn't go into depth it does do a good job of presenting it.
The book also chronicles the rise of the art deco theaters in a way that makes you want to go out and find one and take in a movie. For me there is nothing like seeing a movie in one of these theaters to bring back the old time feeling of seeing a movie.
Popcorn palaces is about the art Deco theater but it's main topic is the painter Davis Cone who painted all of the paintings. It talks about his style of work, the people who influenced his work and the preparation that goes into the painting. Each painting is discussed as the authors talk about how Cone was able to paint these stunning images and his mastery of paint, water color and canvas's.
If you are interested in learning the history of the art Deco theater and marveling the incredibly realistic paintings of Davis Cone then this is the book to have on your coffee table to look at over and over again.
Great book!.......2002-11-08
My husband's home town theater is on the cover! I have already given several books as gifts. The pictures are just beautiful!
Art Deco cinemas celebrated by an artist's vision in paint........2002-01-29
Most people who appreciate the architecture of movie theatres are focused on the fantasy or opulence that the auditorium provides, but here a skilled artist helps us appreciate the facades of some 80 Art Deco styled cinemas across America by means of extraordinarily detailed images in paint. It is always a pleasure to welcome an artistic achievement to the body of work in this subject, and this handsome volume produced in the long format (11 inches long by 9 inches high by one half inch thick) and printed in wonderful color on satin-coated paper stock, with color photos on both film-laminated hard covers, will be a welcome addition to most libraries. Even the end papers and chapter heads are dyed a happy yellow to set the tone of the book. Unlike "Silent Screens" which is in the same format, "Popcorn Palaces ..." is nostalgic without being depressing, even though the writers make clear that many of the subjects have passed away and continue to do so. In that sense, this too is a `necrology' of sorts. It is completed with a detailed Index and Bibliographies of the artist and his art, as well as theatres.
Within the 144 pages the authors, Messrs. Kinerk and Wilhelm, succeed in giving a good history of the rise of these theatres and also a story of how the talented artist Davis Cone found his subjects and brought them to life. Unlike "Silent Screens" and other efforts, this publisher selected experts in theatre history and architecture (one of them a member of the Theatre Historical Society of America) to create an authoritative and factual text to frame the pages of artwork.
To be sure, the book is really about the artist, Mr. Cone, and his `photo-realistic' style and achievements; so the book is not primarily about the theatres, yet it does usually list the name, date of construction, address, architect and the date of the painting of most of the theatres. This thoroughness does give the book an historic value, even though most of the theatres are not individually profiled apart from those facts. It is not a `theatres book,' but a book about paintings, which happen to be of theatres and the remarkable artistry and foresight of one man: Mr. Cone. As the authors bring out, however, the subject was not a whim, but an integral part of the artist's life and sympathies.
Within five chapters the authors cover the artist, the era, the style, the technique, and the "Epilogue - Curtain Call," for the era which created these charming examples of Americana has passed. If we confine ourselves to only examples of the Art Deco style, one could find no better mirror to the past of such cinemas. Perhaps in future Mr. Cone will stretch to also record those non-Art Deco theatres in larger cities. The only criticism an architectural historian might make is that there is no exposition of the interiors of these mostly smaller, neighborhood show houses, but then it must be admitted that few of them had really notable interiors, and getting permission to photograph interiors can be very difficult as the photographers of "The Last Remaining Seats" have disclosed in an article about that book. These paintings are not of the `palaces' of the big cities, but these fantastically detailed paintings do capture the significance of the facades and their marquees to the smaller urban landscapes.
For those who want more history plus the artistry of architectural interiors, there are other books (all here at Amazon) such as: "The Best Remaining Seats ..."; "American Picture Palaces"; "Great American Movie Theatres"; and "American Theatres of Today" among others. Each of these captures in photos the wonderful era of such fanciful designs, but none of them feature the "Hyperrealistic" stylings of masters such as Mr. Cone. May his paintings inspire the saving and restoration of many of these examples of our theatres heritage, for then I believe that the artist will be truly rewarded for his work.
Just A Taste Of Popcorn.......2001-05-25
The paintings contained in this book are truly excellent. The fact is there are too few to really justify a whole book. Having seen another hundred fine examples of theaters in this country I am dismayed that so few are represented. The book leaves me longing for more . I wish the artist had included some of the fine interior spaces of these deco palaces. If you love theaters buy this book but also take the time to visit one in your area for the full experience.
2 Thumbs Up!.......2001-05-17
This book is great for nostalgia of the old single movie theaters that are lost to the multicomplex theaters of today! All ages will find this book intertaining to look at. The art work of Davis Cone is very realistic and I find myself looking over every inch of the picture for little details. A book you can easily look at again and again and find something new, just like good movie picture.

Book Description
New York is a unique city where you can eat out inexpensively without compromising taste or quality. The authors asked New Yorkers to tell them about their favorite low-cost restaurant. The ground rules were simple. The food had to be good and the prices had to be $15 or less before taxes, tip, or wine. It had to be a place they would want to go back to. The response was overwhelming! New Yorkers were eager to share their favorite haunts and discoveries.
Over 80 recommended restaurants reflecting the diversity of New York-including the boroughs: Chinese, Italian, Ethiopian, Cuban, Japanese, Cajun, Polish, West African, French, Middle-Eastern, American regional, Russian, Peruvian, Indian, Thai, Ukrainian, Mexican, and more. Plus seafood, vegetarian, kosher, deli, bistros, and cafés.

Don't leave home without it!.......2003-07-29
This is a restaurant guide for those of you looking for really good food with a wide variety of ethnic cuisine and without the ridiculously pompous nature of your typical five-star. If you go out to eat for the snooty service and to drop a bunch of money, don't buy this book. However, if your focus is on the quality and variety of the food you are eating, with fancy service as a secondary concern, this is the book for you. That is not to say the restaurants in this book lack decent service....Many have excellent service and swanky locals. Some may also have dismal decor and downright cranky staff (read hole-in-the-wall). But they all have great food in common. One of the great things about New York is experiencing the wide variety of flavors and cooking styles available in this melting pot. You won't find me in New York without this book close by.

Everything it needs to be--and cute to boot.......2002-05-26
Bill Lombardo, a professional chef, and Thach Bui, an illustrator, have for several years now teamed to create Americaýs only culinary comic strip: "Cheap Thrills Cuisine."
"Cheap Thrills Cuisine" features the hippie-dippy, perenially grinning Chef Peppi and simple, pretty good recipes. Motherýs Day Muffins, Lamb Chop Mignonette, Vindaloo Chicken, and Chocolate Mousse Cheese Pie are among the dozens of recipes that these two wizards somehow manage to fit into four or fewer cartoon panels and still make them seem worth making.
This would be an ideal gift not for someone who hates to cooký-a couple of the recipes are actually fairly involved and/or time-consumingý-but for the junior high or high schooler who has expressed a little interest in the goings-on in your kitchen. The book winningly combines humor with appealing recipes and visual hijinks.

A nice perspective on modern pinup art.......2006-12-12
I have been practicing art, mainly pin-up art as only a past time for the last year or so. I have bought many books and gone through various methods. I really dig this book. In the introduction he mentions all of the past artists that should be researched and the importance and style of pin up art. He addresses throughout the accetuations that separates a pin up girl from a life portrait. He also tries to keep up with modern times with where 'sexy' art is.
His methodology was great, I wish there was more, but with his great examples you get plenty. He has some nice break downs, from pencil to paint, all the while pointing out key ingredients. He deffinitely has inspired some good art out of me already.

Fluff, but entertaining fluff.......2001-11-16
Plot Summary: "He was no Peeping Tom! Crew Harper was just doing his job -- washing windows outside the fourth story of a downtown office tower. But a movement behind the glass caught his eye. And what he saw was something no red-blooded male could resist -- Alexia Grant undressing! Thank goodness he was transfixed by the caramel-haired beauty before him. Because the moment she left, Crew saw a man enter Alexia's office and rifle through her desk. The intruder was clearly up to no good. Crew had to warn the lovely Alexia, but how could he be without telling her everything he saw?
This is an older Temptation title, which seems to differ a bit from the rigid Romance standard in the late 80's, early 90's. It's fluff, but it's entertaining fluff, with a wonderful, funny, sensitive, supportive hero in Crew. Alexia is a bit difficult to like, but she's not bad when she loosens up.
The romance between the two isn't all that well-developed, and seems a little surfac-ey, but Crew's good spirits and funny habit of talking to his dog Sam more than make up for that. And the author intersperses funny comments throughout the book which really add a laugh!
Enjoy.

Dont waste your money........1999-05-24
If you are wanting a good book about men and women go elsewhere. What I was after was a book explaining what men think about what women say, you know, what messages are we giving off, etc. This book in no way gave me that information.
A clever feat that recalls Bierce's Devil's Dictionary.......1999-02-04
A book like this could be just a novelty gift, but this one absolutely transcends the genre. I picked it up in the bookstore and couldn't stop laughing, until I finally gave in and bought it. I thought it was notably literary, and perfectly executed in a deadpan style.
Trite, shallow.......1998-11-26
Maybe this book is no worse than most in the genre, but I was disappointed. I didn't find it very insightful and I didn't laugh much either.
Great fun, clever gender spins on language.......1998-08-06
All I can say is if you have ever felt the slightest bit misunderstood by the opposite sex, BUY THIS BOOK!!! Herein lies a cornucopia of linguistic fun (post-modern politically correct humor), it will make you laugh so hard and maybe even help you find and keep a significant other. Makes a great gift, too.
A great wedding or engagement present.......1998-04-23
I bought this book on the way to a wedding for plane reading and thought it looked cute but nothing special, like something I'd throw out after the trip - but I ended up keeping my copy and buying copies for the whole wedding party instead. The book really tells both sides of the story. The writers define the same words from the male and female viewpoints and line them up side by side.
I especially like the definition of bridesmaid: She means "what you turn into when your best friend gets married and appoints you one of a bevy of personal slaves in hideous, identical dresses"/He means "someone to hit on at a wedding, she's usually vulnerable."
Maybe I was so tickled by this one because I was maid of honor and yes I was wearing a green taffetta Thing that probably looked hideous, but there were some other really good ones too. It's a humor book but under the jokes there is real stuff - I learned a few things about men and recognized a few things about women. My friends loved it too.

Written for architectural designers, Mastering 3D Studio VIZ 3 is a practical, hands-on guide to using this 3-D modeling and rendering tool from Kinetix. The author is a good writer, and he's got lots of experience in VIZ. This book, his fifth, highlights both facts.
Spanning over 1,100 pages, and containing 16 chapters and four appendices, the book covers everything from the basics of using VIZ all the way through final rendering and delivery of VIZ-rendered animation on videotape. Each chapter is illustrated with screen shots and rendered frames, and contains step-by-step text for the tutorial in question.
While the book does a terrific job of teaching how to use the program, the real stars are the appendices. "Modifiers and Materials," "Patches and NURBS," and "Helpers and Effects" offer clear and concise information on all of these important features. These appendices alone are an invaluable reference resource.
Technically oriented tools like 3D Studio VIZ aren't easy to use. At best, the rendered image simply will look wrong; but, at worst, it can convey the wrong information to the client, and force design changes when none should be made. Using a tool like VIZ with accuracy is important, and Mastering 3D Studio VIZ 3 is a terrific reference guide for learning and using it correctly, efficiently, and painlessly. --Mike Caputo

The manual Viz should have come with.......2003-05-03
After one training session and about 10 months using Viz I bought this book and found it very useful.
Although it is 1100 pages of info, it is not blindingly full on, rather the author concentrates on making sure the methods and techniques are fully and clearly explained with plenty of screen shots and repeating previously explained information where needed. You won't find everything Viz does in this book but you will find more than enough to be able to create life like rendereings.
As much a [beginners] guide as it is an advanced user's salvation, this book sits on or near my workstation at all times.
Just make sure you order the correct version (for Viz 3 or 4)!
Good content, BAD typographic job.......2002-02-01
I have recently received this book as a gift. The content is GREAT but the format of the book LACKS A LOT in quality. That is, because there are over 1100 pages and because somebody had the unfortunate idea to place 16 color drawings on thick glossy paper in the middle, my long awaited book got ruined (read broke in two pieces, right in the middle). That was the WORST typographic job I have ever seen. All thanks to SYBEX Inc. who have edited this book. Hey guys, couldn't you make two volumes?
"THE" VIZ Book-You needn't look further.......2001-07-18
This book is the FANTASTIC. I'm an Architect and so appreciative that such a book exist. The material is meant for Architects (although applicable to many other 3D disciplines) and is extremely indepth without being tedious. The exercises are taken from historical projects recognized the world over which makes them interesting and fun. Mr. Omura had a game plan in writing this book and it pays off big time for the reader. By the time you've completed this book you'll have the skills and essential tools to create your own world's of expression. The author has a vast understanding of which tools to use to get the job done creativitly, efficiently and effectively. You'll also learn to incorporate industry standard tools outside of VIZ to assist you in creating your own libraries for future use. Is this last word in everything you'll ever need to know about VIZ? Absolutely Not. However, you'll be off to a great start with a BROAD SOLID FOUNDATION enabling you to build high and wide and creatively. ENJOY!
The best viz book to date.......2001-01-11
Have tried several other 3d viz books but this book is the best that I have read to date. Gets you up and running much faster than some of the more "fancy" interactive cd-rom types. Just the right sequence in the chapters for you to learn at a reasonable pace and understand the key concepts. If you need to learn this software than you will not go wrong with this book.
The VIZ book you really need.......2000-11-30
Omura's book is undoubtedly the best book I have read for 3D Studio VIZ! It is very complete with the most pictures, the best examples, tutorials, samples, and the clear explanations. Everything you need to know is in Mastering 3d Studio VIZ 3.

i am sorry to say that this turned out to be a completely useless purchase, containing very limited information. in fact, i did not find any problem covered that i ever wanted to solve and that went somewhat beyond the obvious. the internet turned out to be a much better source...

The iPod is deceptively simple. It is true that when fully configured with your music tests, it is quite easy to use. But a lot of this operational simplicity is due to complexity being pushed off onto a Mac or PC. A large part of the book addresses the installation and usage of that software, in its interaction with your iPod. Which also includes the iTunes. The book's CD has a copy of the code. But the author correctly suggests that you consider downloading the newest version from Apple directly.
The book has an amusing chapter on toys for the iPod. Basically, these are often fashion accessories. None are essential, but the iPod has tapped into a lifestyle zeitgeist echoed by the chapter. Like a MarWare SportSuit Safari case for the iPod. That looks like a mutant tribble.
Far inferior to the Rough Guide to iPods & iTunes........2005-03-10
The iPod and iTunes Starter Kit by Tim Robertson is quite disappointing. While it is very long, it is far from exhaustive because of the superficial level its coverage of many important topics. The Rough Guide to iPods & iTunes is about a third of the price ($8.09 versus $23.09), but its treatment of such matters as compression codecs (MP3, AAC,and the like) is lucid, informative, and quite easy for a non-expert to follow. By contrast, Robertson's book is trite and formulaic in the way that many of the less helpful Dummies and Idiots books are. Bottom line: Don't waste your money - buy the excellent Rough Guide.

Good reference.......2005-01-29
Do you own an iPod? According to the latest numbers a lot of you do. As for my self I don't, but I do use iTunes quite often. One of the things I like about my Apple computer is that it's very easy to use. Which is why I had to read this book. I thought to myself, why in world would anyone need a starter kit book for iTunes and the iPod. Every Apple computer I have every used has been extremely user friendly with no hidden secrets waiting to be discovered (unlike the PC I use everyday for work).
So, why do you need this book? Well, because you spent a lot of money on your iPod and want to make sure you use it to its fullest potential.
iPod and iTunes Starter Kit covers just about everything you need to know. The book obviously is split into two parts. The first section covers the iPod and the second ITunes.
The iPod section is very thorough. Detailed instructions take you step by step from installation to purchasing accessories. Learn how to store important events on your iPods calendar and connect your iPod to your cars stereo system are just few example of topics covered.
The iTunes section is great. You can learn how to download album artwork off the web. Read about how to manage your account iTunes music store.
The tag line for the book reads "Everything you need for digital music, start to finish!" I would have to agree. This easy to read iPod/Itunes reference would be a great addition to all iPod/Itunes users.

Wonderful and inspiring tale.......2007-09-25
It's easy to love this book, whether you're even a casual boater or a landlubber. Mr. Rubin gives some great insights into his life and the reasons why one makes the choices they make. I read the opening about him building the small boat as a child to my wife, who absolutely was entranced by the images. Even though I live near one of the Great Lakes instead of the Atlantic Ocean, "messing about in boats" is one of the greatest joys in life, which the author has aptly demonstrated in this book.
A rambling memoir of the pains and perils of owning a boat.......1999-07-30
I picked up Rubin's little classic at a remainder table, thinking to peruse it when I ran out of other reading material. Shame on me. This is an intensly personal and delightful little book. Not for the non nautical, neither is it for the practical. If I could I would drop Mr. Rubin a short note with one word. "Thanks."

Book Description
"History shows that people who save and invest grow and prosper, and the others deteriorate and collapse.
As
Financial Reckoning Day demonstrates, artificially low interest rates and rapid credit creation policies set by Alan Greenspan and the Federal Reserve caused the bubble in U.S. stocks of the late '90s. . . . Now, policies being pursued at the Fed are making the bubble worse. They are changing it from a stock market bubble to a consumption and housing bubble.
And when those bubbles burst, it's going to be worse than the stock market bubble . . .
No one, of course, wants to hear it. They want the quick fix. They want to buy the stock and watch it go up twenty-five percent because that's what happened last year, and that's what they say on TV."
—Jim Rogers, author of the bestseller Adventure Capitalist
from the Foreword to
Financial Reckoning Day
Advanced praise from bestselling authors
"An investment book that will not only enlarge your investment horizon, but also make you laugh and thoroughly entertain you for a few hours."
—Dr. Marc Faber, author of the bestseller Tomorrow's Gold
"Financial Reckoning Day is . . . in the category of scintillating sex or good vision, something to be savored and enjoyed-before it is too late."
—James Dale Davidson, author of the bestseller The Great Reckoning and The Sovereign Individual
"A powerful and insightful vision . . . each paragraph stimulates a new rush of thoughts that fills in gaping holes in the investor's understanding of what has happened to their dreams . . . while prepping them to confront any new confusion that may arrive."
—Martin D. Weiss, author of the bestseller Crash Profits

The investor's guide to surviving a slowing economy
Financial Reckoning Day is a "big picture" investment book that skillfully illustrates how the American economy is following in the footsteps of the Japanese economy, which fell into a long, soft "slow motion" deflationary depression brought about by two irresistible forces-its aging population and a structural reaction to the greatest financial boom in its history. With the U.S. market in a downturn, investors are looking for answers to why this is happening and what they can do to protect their investments. Financial Reckoning Day will provide the answers to those questions. Written by a team of well-respected financial professionals-whose publications and newsletters reach a quarter million investors each week-this book shows readers how the economic megaboom of the 1990s will inevitably be followed by a megabust in the first decade of the twenty-first century. Many believe that depressions are artifacts of financial history, not features of the future. Financial Reckoning Day shows why these events are a real possibility and discusses the dangers they pose to investors around the world, arguing that popular democracy, aging populations, and bad economic theories doom Western economics to bear markets, and falling consumer spending for years to come. More importantly, it shows readers how they can survive and thrive during such events.

It's all in Adam Smith.......2007-08-12
The authors of this book come close to identifying and pinpointing what the major cause of financial bubbles is and the disasterous impacts that affect large portions of the general population when they pop.
They correctly give the first half of the story when they quote(p.238) Adam Smith's assessment that aggregate savings is a necessary ingredient that is vitally important in order to maintain aggregate economic growth over time once an optimal capital stock has already been accumulated in the present while the prodigal and other misbehavior destroys the possibility of economic growth.Smith, however, goes on to clearly identify what he means by misbehavior.Misbehavior occurs when the private commercial banks and investment banking houses on Wall Street take the savings of the population and waste and destroy it by making loans to projectors(J M Keynes' speculators-chapter 12,General Theory,1936)and imprudent risk takers(Keynes's lender's versus borrower's risk discussion in chapter 11,GT)instead of making the loans to the " sober " people who will invest it in starting new businesses and /or expanding existing businesses. The loans can't be made to speculators who will use the loans to leverage their speculative financial behavior. The private equity firms and hedge funds are using the capital markets to distort and manipulate the assets, liabilities, and equity of American business firms and corporations in order to use them to back an ever increasing number of new financial instruments, such as derivatives,lease-backs,sub prime loan backed bonds, etc.,that will create financial returns irrespective of any real increased productivity from the firms that are taken over by the debt financed leveraged buyouts.
What, then, is Smith's solution ? It is to prevent the problem from arising in the first place!! Fix the rate of interest on bank loans at a low rate marginally above the prime rate permanently in the long run.Cut off all loans to projectors, prodigals, and imprudent risk takers.Make sure the loans get into the hands of productive people and not Wall Street speculators.See Smith(Wealth of Nations,1776,Modern Library (Cannan)edition,pp.296-340 in general and pp.339-340 specifically) .Follow the wisdom of Adam Smith and you will not have to worry about days of financial reckoning and/or surviving the next " soft" depression of the 21st century.Brussee's book on this problem would also be a good choice as he ties the problem directly to the investment banking houses on Wall Street, although he is not aware of the fact that Smith spotted this potential ,general problem well over two hundred years ago.
Bill Bonner - king of "doom & gloom" newsletters.......2007-07-07
His source of income is promoting "doom & gloom"
newsletters and writing an ocassional book such as this one.
He recommends buying gold silver & digging
yourself a hole in a ground to live in.
"The Sky is Falling!" = "Risk can't be transfered!".......2007-01-26
But Bonner and Wiggans did manage to pluck a subscription to their newsletter from you.
Chicken Little was in the woods one day when an acorn fell on her head. It scared her so much she trembled all over. She shook so hard, half her feathers fell out.
Chicken Little: "Help! Help! The sky is falling! I have to go tell the king!"
So she ran in great fright to tell the king. Along the way she met Henny Penny.
"Where are you going, Chicken Little?"
"Oh, help! The sky is falling!"
"How do you know?"
"I saw it with my own eyes, and heard it with my own ears, and part of it fell on my head!"
"This is terrible, just terrible! We'd better hurry up."
So they both ran away as fast as they could. Soon they met Ducky Lucky.
..................
So they ran with all their might, until they met Foxy Loxy.
"Well, well. Where are you rushing on such a fine day?"
Chicken Little, Henny Penny, Ducky Lucky, Goosey Loosey, Turkey Lurkey (together) "Help! Help!" It's not a fine day at all. The sky is falling, and we're running to tell the king!"
"How do you know the sky is falling?"
"I saw it with my own eyes, and heard it with my own ears, and part of it fell on my head!"
"I see. Well then, follow me, and I'll show you the way to the king."
So Foxy Loxy led Chicken Little, Henny Penny, Ducky Lucky, Goosey Loosey, and Turkey Lurkey across a field and through the woods. He led them straight to his den, and they never saw the king to tell him that the sky is falling.
But Bonne and Wiggans did manage to pluck a subscription to their newsletter from you.
Their first before Empire.......2007-01-07
This is Bonner and Wiggins' book just before Empire of Debt. There is repetition betw. the two and if I were you I'd get Empire and not worry about this one. That said, the authors are spot on about the mess we American's are in and in for.
Financial Reckoning Day.......2006-11-12
An easy to read book. I like their irreverend, somewhat cynical style of describing the current financial and politcal situtation our country is in. Just like their previous book the content is well researched. However just like their previous book this book has the same glaring ommission: a clear vision from the authors about how we could possibly remedy the situation.
