Thank you.......2007-10-03
I am really enjoying the book. I have 14 students ranging from kindergarten to 8th grade. All I can say is thank you so much for such an informative book.
Homeschooler input---.......2007-09-01
It wasn't quite what we were looking for as homeschoolers. All of the pictures are in black and white and many of them are too dark to even see. I felt that some of the directions were a bit unclear. It does not say specifically what grade level each project is, but that the projects get progressivly more difficult. It does give you adaption ideas for younger students on many things. If your looking for fun, neat crafts to make in school, this probably isn't the book for you. This book does cover good topics such as basic line drawing, value, texture, etc. I feel it is a good book to have in conjuction with other art books.
Images very difficult to see.......2007-07-11
I am sorry to say that I had to return this book--though I was really looking forward to getting it. Though the lessons look like they have had a lot of thought put into them,(the author did well) it is fairly text heavy and I'll admit I prefer a layout with more images to a wall of text. Also, in my opinion, the printing quality is poor. I could not make out some of the images in the book I received -- because most were dark and smudgy! For a book about the visual arts, this is most unfortunate. At the very least, a new print run lightening up the images (see page 142, for example) would improve it.
Must Have For Art Teachers.......2007-02-07
This book is a great tool for getting ideas on lessons to teach when your mind has drawn a blank. Lessons are compiled in different sections such as elements based, principles based, 2D, 3D, etc.
For a part time teachers tech, this is a life saver!.......2007-01-11
I am teaching my second year of art at a local elementary school, where they hire non-certified technicians to teach during the teachers prep time. I bought this book over the summer, and I have loved it so much for what I do.
Many of the simple lessons we do contain important state core requirements, and it is a matter of the proper vocabulary and presentation to the students. This book helps you keep what you are teaching in order, from art history, to criticism and comparison, and even hands on projects or still life sketching..... this book has hundreds of lesson ideas, and I have found them easy to adapt to all age levels. ( I work with 1-5th grades)
One note- I had read in a description that the book contained colored pictures, which is not the case, therefore the art presented in the book is not really a possibility to use in class unless you can get a reproduction somewhere else- which I am limited to do. But I love the age appropriate guide in the beginning, and refer to it often.
I went to a district meeting and had many other techs asking about my resources, and I was happy to refer this book to them. Whether for school, home school, or just personal art education this is book that is well rounded and well stocked. More lesson ideas then you will ever be able to use, and for us with a limited budget, it is still full of tried and true lesson plans and discussion starters.

Good, not great.......2002-07-04
This book has some golden nuggets of very interesting info that you're not likely to find elsewhere (I found the info on how to carry oneself when wearing period clothing to be especially interesting) but the quality and thoroughness of the treatment seemed somewhat inconsistent to me.
A useful resource.......2000-05-15
While it's not a book on creating costumes, or what exactly people wore, this should be in every reenactor's library.
Instructions on managing skirts, cloaks, corsets, swords, all of the facets of historical dress, do not come with the clothing, and aren't always instinctive for the modern person.
Meant primarily for actors, this is still a handy little book to have around for those who just like to dress up.

Customer Reviews:
One of the best stories I've read in a while.......2007-01-07
At first I wasn't sure about the new team of Daniel Way and Steve Dillon, but after Bullseye: Greatest Hits, they are a winner team to me.
The story delves deeply into Bullseye's past, beginning from his childhood, all the way to how he became the assassin for hire that we all know. It revisits his father, his time in major league baseball, his time serving the US government, an encounter with Punisher, and the murder of Electra. It's one of the best reads I've had in a while. The story is well crafted and keeps you on the edge of your seat, hats off to Daniel Way.
I've always been a fan of Steve Dillon's work, all the way back when he was penciling the Preacher series, to when he did the Punisher series. He did an excellent job in Bullseye as well.
Overall, it's a very good story, you will not be disappointed.
Great Book!.......2006-06-10
David Hine is rapidly becoming one of the best comic book writers out there today and this book is no exception. He delves into the psyche of Marvel's most psychotic villain, Bullseye. Great violent fun.
"Is that the best you can do?".......2005-04-21
Collecting the five issue mini-series, Bullseye: Greatest Hits focuses around the popular Daredevil villain and attempts to reveal the assassin for hire's past. Picking up at a secret underground facility, two special agents are sent to interrogate an imprisoned Bullseye and learn the whereabouts of nuclear weapons which he has hidden. In the process, he reveals much of his long shrouded past, or does he? As the issues go on, the mind games continue, and along the way we are treated to glimpses of flashbacks of his murder of Elektra, his first battle with Daredevil, and a bloody encounter with the Punisher. Daniel Way's script provides enough suspense and intrigue, even though it starts to wear thin before picking up again in the final issue, while Preacher artist Steve Dillon provides his usual superb pencils (no one draws the Punisher better than Dillon, no one). All in all, this TPB is worth picking up if your a fan of the villain, and it's a surprisingly solid mini-series that sadly flew under the radar.

No more nightmares!.......2002-07-03
I spent my entire life having nightmares routinely. After reading this book, I have conquered them for good. I cannot believe how simple it was, or how effective its been.
Like many one topic books, this one should be a chapter in a larger book instead of its own volume. But I can't argue with its success.
Book Description
A story that traces the bonds between four generations of resourceful Southern women through stories passed from one generation to another.
Customer Reviews:
Wonderful Novel.......2006-11-28
This is a wonderful, entertaining novel of women relationships. It is set in the rural South. I really enjoyed it.
A Sweet Little Story (and a One Day Read).......2004-10-28
"A Cure for Dreams" is the story of a mother's life, as told to her daughter. The characters are lovable and the story moves quickly. There is no actual plot or finale; it's more like a chat session between mothers and daughters.
Though not as noteworthy as "Ellen Foster," this book is enjoyable and I highly recommend it. It's a small book, and due to the interesting dialogue, most readers will keep turning pages and finish on the same day they started.
A Cure for Dreams is a Nightmare!.......2004-02-16
I gave this book 1 star because zero was not an option. I read a lot and this is the worse book I've read in a long time. I would have put it down without finishing, but the book was short and I kept thinking it would redeem itself. Please, do NOT waste your time on 'Dreams' when there are so many really good books out there.
Small is more in this little masterpiece.......2003-04-10
A Gibbons' classic, beautiful, upbeat, poignant.
The sound of Southern women's voices talking, talking, talking comes through loud and clear, and you get the impression that the stories will keep coming long after you've finished this gem of a book.
a South I never knew.......2001-11-02
Kaye Gibbons' books all focus on a South that I have never known. That said, I love this place that she creates. It is a bit of old-school South, in that it seems like bad things are just bubbling under the surface, waiting to burst free. This is the same world that Faulkner, Dickey, and Welty inhabit. A world where human passions are often dark and where salvation is often not forthcoming. But unlike the others, Gibbons's character's are frequently rescued from the pit by their relationships with family. All of her books have a bittersweet poignancy that will leave you feeling tearful and introspective, but not depressed. I have enjoyed all of her books.
Book Description
Once upon a time, equipped with a solid marriage, driven careers, and a recently finished basement, my husband and I were ready to start a family. Like many 30-something couples, we thought it would be easy. Unfortunately, after nearly 18 months of doing things "the old fashioned way," my husband was diagnosed with a latent birth defect. It rendered us virtually infertile, not to mention devastated and confused.
The remarkable thing about confusion is that it can spur knowledge and strength. Infertility did just that for us. We moved forward to try to have a child with the help of science and technology. Before we could blink, we were in the midst of monumental efforts to finance our baby-making venture, ordering medications on the Internet, and undergoing multiple, sometimes risky, and invasive, procedures. We endured it all for a single chance to have a child of our own.
Pregnancy Wishes & IVF Dreams: A Story & Lessons About Life, Love, & Infertility is a compelling and insightful look at one couple's struggle with male factor infertility and everything that goes with it. From failed attempts at conception, batteries of fertility tests, and a devastating diagnosis, to IVF/ICSI, other treatments, and ultimately the birth of fraternal twin daughters, Pregnancy Wishes & IVF Dreams offers readers a sense of shared experience through a real-time, personal story. The book also provides first-hand insights, guidance, and quotes covering a range of universal issues including dealing with jealousy, great expectations, doctors, risk, finances, and family. Finally, Pregnancy Wishes comes full circle, leaving readers with twelve, invaluable lessons-learned about life, love, infertility, and numerous questions, and challenges in between.
Like an understanding friend, Pregnancy Wishes & IVF Dreams will leave you feelings less alone, and more empowered as you cope with infertility.
Customer Reviews:
a must read, must buy book.......2007-04-11
Pregancy Wishes and IVF Dreams is an honest and touching account of a couples difficulties with conceiving a child. I have not had to experience infertility directly, but I have a sister and a friend who did. I could also relate to and empathize with Kelley's story as the mother of two children. Kelley Taylor's book is an inspirational story about the challenges that life can present to the reader. It's a must read book for anyone who is facing infertiltity as well as those who have a loved one or friend who is experiencing infertility.

Customer Reviews:
old product.......2007-09-04
This product has been replaced by the much-improved NEW NINE-NOTE RECORDER METHOD available through Amazon.
The book is fantastic but the CD uses a synth recorder.......2002-03-18
I bought this book for my daughter's 8th birthday. She has already learned to play recorder using the Mel Bay book "You Can Teach Yourself Recorder" and this was a book for *fun*. The selection of tunes is vast and the choices are great...folk tunes, hymns, Christmas pieces. There are a number of pieces that I didn't think I knew until I played them...they had renamed them something else. Solo, duet and trio options make for a lot of playing fun, especially if you the parent, or other siblings can play along.
Even though I play the recorder too, I bought the book with the play-along CD so my daughter could play even when I was busy or if she just wanted to play on her own. I am a bit disappointed with the CD, as all the parts are played by an obvious synthesizer, NOT another recorder. Sounds really canned. However, I am not sure this will bother my daughter. All parts are played at once on the CD and all the example/practice pieces are played as well, which is nice for the student still learning the notes. She (Penny Gardner) gives the page number and song title before each piece begins and there is a low tone that counts the beats of one measure before the piece begins, to set the tempo.
Despite that small annoyance, this is a great collection and one that young or old students will love because there are so many pieces that they will recognize and want to play, and the duet/trio options make it sound good enough to play for a recital, church or other program. Also, if you are musical enough, most pieces could have an easily improvised piano or guitar accompaniment to do with a solo recorder.

Back to basics.......2007-02-24
As an executive coach and sales trainer I found this book quite interesting. I am into NLP and my coaching practice was built on using those techniques, as does part of my sales seminars.
As I was reading through the book I found it lacking in NLP aspects, it utilizes only a smallaspect of what could be used. It almost seemed like the "workbook" or the introduction to the seminars that he offers (in the back of the book seemed like there was more to it. Overall this book is informative and for those that are not familiar with some of the aspects that NLP offers then this is a good read. Even though it deals primarily with interaction and presumes that you have the ability to talk to or meet with your client, there are some aspects that can be used while writing sales letters.
I do belive that with a combination of other books about NLP this is a very good purchase. I personally read the Pshycology of persuasion, by Kevin Hogan (not an NLP book), immidiatly after reading this book. The combination between the two books made for some interesting thoughts to be triggered.
If you are looking to learn about NLP in depth this isn't the right book for you. If you are looking to understand a small aspect of NLP and how you can utilize it to increase your business, then go for it and enjoy the read. There are very good pointers in this book that you will benefit from.
THIS WILL ONLY WORK FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO INCREASE SALES AND COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY!.......2007-02-15
The fact that you are reading my review shows me your interest in a balanced and honest viewpoint on how well THE UNFAIR ADVANTAGE will work for you. However, let me honestly tell you it will only be relevant to you, if you decide that increasing your sales and making more money is important to you. If so, I strongly feel that this book will help you if not for any other reason than myself, and other TOP-PERFORMERS use the "unfair advantage" to increase our sales. Now, if you choose to order the UNFAIR ADVANTAGE will have an easy to follow road-map for success, the only problem is all the paperwork you will have to process as a result of, your sales will increase. This is the easiest way to put NLP to work for you without the confusion and in depth psycology that others in the field of NLP provide. I've read everything by everyone about NLP and Duane Lakin's Unfair Advantage has proven to be most beneficial, easiest to understand, sure-fire method of acheiving success so quickly, it may even surprise you!
A technique, not a strategy.......2007-02-07
NLP will help you sell, and it may close a particular sale. It won't work everywhere with everyone. In my opinion, while it has some value, the zealots have overhyped NLP. "The Unfair Advantage: Sell with NLP!" has a weak binding, so that pages literally falls from the book as you turn them.
The Unfair Advantage: Sell with NLP!.......2006-11-03
Excelent book for those who are in sales and sales management. Easy read, practical advice with practice exercises. I taught my employees the techniques from the book, their sales went up. I strongly recommend it to everybody!
Unfair Advantage could use more advantage.......2006-02-26
This is a very basic book. As i read it I kept wishing there was more depth to the information. It is superficial and left this reader frustrated that she had once again paid for a guru's packaging and not content. In typical gufu fashion, the book is oversized and has LOTS of white space. If he is such as expert, why could he not share a little more knowledge with the reader, or is the rest of it in his several-thousand-dollar workshop package?
