Book Description
Southeast Asian jewelry is eagerly sought by collectors around the globe. Once prized largely for its ethnographic interest, today it is recognized as a high art form. In a tour de force of original research and synthesis, involving years of study and extensive travel throughout the region, Anne Richter gives us the first comprehensive account of a jewelry tradition that stretches across millennia from the vigor of Neolithic and Bronze Age art to the present day.
Magnificent gold jewelry of classical Cambodia and Java, a man's ruby-eyed dragon ring from Thailand, silver work of the Vietnamese court, filigree bridal necklaces of Sumatra, jeweled belt buckles and tobacco boxes of Malaysia, royal gold sashes of the pre-Hispanic Philippines, adornment for remote hill peoples-the more than 300 pieces seen here, many previously unpublished, reveal a jewelry notable for its beauty and rich significance. The analyses of the symbolism shed new light on Asian cultures, while the aesthetic appeal of the items makes this volume irresistible for all jewelry lovers.
ANNE RICHTER, formerly a lecturer in Art and Design at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, is an authority on the arts and crafts of Southeast Asia. She has contributed to the Dictionnaire International du Bijou and is the author of Arts and Crafts of Indonesia and other volumes.

Shonen Jump Series 1 Books.......2007-01-04
This was a gift for our son for Christmas! It was great he has read most all of them and now wants most of the series.
Shonen Jump Manga Magic.......2005-11-09
This is easily the best collection of Americanized manga out. As most know, Shonen Jump was at one time a Japanese exclusive magazine that made its hop across the Pacific in 2003 for American fans to enjoy. Since that moment, it's become the best in manga and now contains a majority of the manga juggernauts.
This collection is a great start for those of you who are interested in reading manga, or for those of you who missed out on some of the earlier issues of Shonen Jump and want to catch up on what's going on. It also has the beginnings to the Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z mangas, which can't be found in Shonen Jump.
Below is a listing of the manga in this box, as well as a small description of each:
(1) Dragon Ball: This is the start of the Dragon Ball world. It explains the origins of Goku and his relationship with the Dragon Balls.
(2) Dragon Ball Z: The beginning of one of the greatest animes ever in its purest form. Unpolluted with minutes-long shouting and infested with excellent action and story, this details the story of Goku as a father and a husband, as well as following some of the other favorites of the Dragon Ball world.
(3) Naruto: Probably the best in Shonen Jump, Naruto is a tale of a boy fox-demon who wants nothing more than to earn his place in the world, and does so by training to become a ninja, despite the mistrust directed at him by some of his teacher and the hatred he receives from his fellow students.
(4) One Piece: A boy eats the mysterious Devil Fruit at a young age, making his body into rubber and also cursing his body: should he ever fall into water, he would sink instantly to the bottom. Despite that, he wants nothing more than to be the pirate king of a world of oceans.
(5) Shaman King: Yoh, a boy who can not only see ghosts but control them, comes to Tokyo to train to become a powerful shaman in the hopes that one day he'll win the title of Shaman King.
(6) Yu-Gi-Oh!: A story of constant morals and themes, it details a young, pint-sized, pointy-haired boy's struggles with a mysterious puzzle/necklace that grants him dark super powers as well as an alter-ego.
(7) YuYu Hakusho: A juvenile delinquent dies saving a child and finds out that his next was entirely unexpected and therefore gains a chance to come back to life. What he later finds out is coming back to life also makes him a spirit detective.

This pack is totaly awsome! If your obsessed about anime than this is the thing for you! I collect and read Shonen Jump magazine, and I kept getting curious about how all the stories had started. So I got this and it answered all my questions.

Book Description
It’s the perfect antidote to
Bloomsbury
’s hit hair trilogy, Bad Hair, Big Hair, and The Mullet: Kevin Baldwin’s comprehensive book on the history and nature of baldness.
Bald! takes us into the world of those whose heads are covered by more air than hair. Entertaining but also extensively researched, Bald! examines the cultural and sociological history of baldness—its varied significance (from wisdom to impending misfortune), the oddball theories on its cause (from too much cycling to excessive sex), and its outrageous “cures” (from rubbing the scalp with bat milk to the more extreme measure of castration). Baldwin goes on to tackle the finer points of drugs, plugs, snake-oil miracle cures, the pluses and perils of rugs and combovers, and psychological tricks for overcoming the stigma. Complete with a hairless history of the world and notes on shining contemporary examples, from Julius Caesar to Michael Jordan, Bald! is a fantastic tour through a subject that’s anything but barren.
Customer Reviews:
Great ideas for the non-finanically handicapped.......1999-08-05
Great book. Lots of ideas. Many could be translated to lower costing projects. How would one get in touch with some of the different designer aspects used, such as the soft scuplter of Lisa Leintfelds (sic)? Have tried everything I could think of. Keep up the wonderful work.
Excellent photography, worth twice the price, outstanding.......1998-11-19
I purchased this book to get ideas for our own home theater and of course the ideas in this book are way out of my price range, but the enjoyment of looking at the pictures and the editorial information was great. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to provide enjoyable reading items for visitors or guest. I definitely think this is a coffee table book that many people will enjoy. I personally have had 4 people ask me where they could get a copy of this book.
Home Theater dreams gloriously realized.......1998-06-23
In this magnificient book Theo Kalomirakis, the front figure of extravagant home theater gives you an inside view to some of the finest home theaters in the world. The background of mr. Kalomirakis is shortly but concisely explained, as is his enthusiasm for movies and the history of the movie palaces of the golden era. His talent of bringing the dreams of his clients alive in perfect home theaters is delightfully revealed through the glorious pictures and thoughtful descriptions of the individual theatres in the book. Every chapter of the book gives you enough information satisfy your curiosity, but still leaves some details for your imagination. It seems like this book is as carefully crafted symbiose of technology and art as are mr. Kalomirakis' home theaters.
I recommend this book highly for everyone that is aspiring to achieve the highest level of home entertainment, because the book gives you a lot of ideas. However, this book is not for technology oriented people, because the equipment used for these theatres are not in the forefront, the outlook and the atmosphere of these theatres take the leading roles.

Book Description
Authentic full-color replica of Caernarvon Castle built in Wales (ca. 1285–1322) comes with complete instructions for cutting, folding and assembling parts. Includes historical text.
Customer Reviews:
Beautiful yet Difficult.......2007-05-17
The end product was worth it all, but the assembly process was sort of difficult. There were hardly any instructions on how to fold things, and the folding was difficult itself. Also it was hard to tell where to cut and what to cut and I made several mistakes cutting where I wasnt supposed to. Another thing that might have been helpful, is labels on EVERY piece of cutout. But in the end, the castle looked great and it was worth the effort. All in all the project takes about 24 hours total.
Book Description
This graduate text provides an intuitive but rigorous treatment of contemporary methods used in microeconometric research. The book makes clear that applied microeconometrics is about the estimation of marginal and treatment effects, and that parametric estimation is simply a means to this end. It also clarifies the distinction between causality and statistical association.
The book focuses specifically on cross section and panel data methods. Population assumptions are stated separately from sampling assumptions, leading to simple statements as well as to important insights. The unified approach to linear and nonlinear models and to cross section and panel data enables straightforward coverage of more advanced methods. The numerous end-of-chapter problems are an important component of the book. Some problems contain important points not fully described in the text, and others cover new ideas that can be analyzed using tools presented in the current and previous chapters. Several problems require the use of the data sets located at the author's website.
Customer Reviews:
Everything people say is true, but..........2007-09-05
This book has no graphs - not one. As long there are no graphs or figures, this work will remain incomplete.
The missing link for cross section, panel data and program evaluation.......2007-06-02
This book fills a real gap for those who are interested in things like ATE, ATET and topics related to impact evaluation that are only talked about now in research papers. The explanations are very very clear and they walk you through the thinking process by which the different methods were developed. Of course, it has the traditional coverage of panel data and cross section but with the clarity that Wooldridge always delivers on his books. For all that, this is a perfect addition to your econometric libraries as it covers topics that are not discussed in traditional and introductory econometric books.
A comprehensive survey.......2007-05-12
This book provides an excellent overview about state-of-the-art methodologies in econometrics. Instead of other textbooks it stresses more on conditionals and explains potential problems with underlying assumptions in more detail. As I find it sometimes hard to orientate myself, I give 4 stars.
Very good coverage on cross-sectional, but not enough of panel data.......2006-08-18
This book does an excellent job in covering cross-sectional and microeconometric models (Stata codes for all examples in the book are available from UCLA's webside). However, the exposure to panel data is limited. For a theoretical overview of panel data econometrics, I'd recommend Hsiao and Baltagi. For applied work, Edward Frees wrote a good book, although his book is more from the social science perspective (SAS and Stata codes are provided).
The best? Not for me (and everyone I know)........2005-09-30
Clearly this product is overrated. In my opinion the book is a complete mess, with definitions, propositions and theorems mixed with the main text and not clearly evidenced from it.
It's funny, because the book uses a panoplia of bolds, italics, etc in the main text (well, there is only main text here) which I dislike and think is unnecessary, and then do not use it to evidence the important results. As a result I think this is probably the worst book that I can remember of for reference.
There are better books and it's almost impossible to get one worse than this one.
Book Description
This is the essential companion to Jeffrey Wooldridge's widely-used graduate text Econometric Analysis of Cross Section and Panel Data (MIT Press, 2001). Already established as a leading graduate econometrics text, the book offers an intuitive yet rigorous treatment of two methods used in econometric research, cross section and panel data techniques. The numerous end-of-chapter problems are an important component of the book, encouraging the student to use the analytical tools presented in the text. This manual contains answers to selected problems, new examples, and supplementary materials designed by the author. Users of the textbook will find the manual a necessary adjunct to the book.
