I'm a second-generation Herman fan, the comic is hysterical. Dry, very British humour, and as long as that's for you, Herman is the best comic ever!
Going to need to update my collection-- mine are so worn through from reading the pages are falling out!!! Herman is hysterical, and I can't get enough of it.

My Most Used Cook Book.......2007-02-11
I've had this cook book since 1993. I've baked with this starter for all these years. Recipes are great. They have been hits at our house and every where I take something cooked out of this book. Many good recipes that don't use the stater also. It's time for a new book. My book is yellow, stained, and very worn. Can't live without it.

Great recipes for Herman........2003-08-10
I had not been given Herman in many years. When he recently turned up again I wanted some new recipes. I found the name of this cookbook in an old newspaper article about Herman that I had saved from several years ago. I was pleasantly surprised that I could get a copy through Amazon.com. The book is packed with all kinds of recipes and all that I have tried have been quite tasty. You can't go wrong with this one.
For the cook looking for something different.......2001-11-21
This cookbook specializes in growing and using a "sweet sourdough" yeast starter called "Herman." Lots of you have seen these "friendship" starters passed around--they look like frothy pancake batter. This book teaches you how to make you own starter, maintain it, and use it in a variety of bread, cake and cookies. Yes, is does make bakings moister and last longer. The book also has a brief recipe at the beginning for the fermented fruit starter (no yeast). This would be a great gift for the cook-from-scratch cook who likes trying new techniques. It also contains a lot of down-home anecdotes. You'll feel like you're reading your Great-Aunt Helen's old recipe notebook. A NOTE OF CAUTION -- This is not for the novice cook. The writers assume some knowledge of basic cooking techniques and this will drive an inexperienced cook WILD with frustration. Try some clear simple yeast bread and cake recipes from a step-by-step cookbook before tackling this one.

Prayer-leaders and teachers, this book has a refrain that young children quickly learn to fill in with/for you. They enjoy the personification of the penny, especially in the illustrations ("it has legs like a boy!"). Valuable addition to your library.
Simple story- important message.......2002-12-16
This book gives a simple message about how important it is to save all those little pennies that you find in out of the way places. For the youngest child, this book is easy to follow with large illustrations of a penny "character". The penny narrates the story and talks about where the best place for him to be kept is. At the end, a small boy finds him and puts him in his "tzedakah box" which is a saving place for money that is then used to perform a "mitzvah"- or good deed to help those in need. Great little book. My four year old liked it.

Trina loves books and reading but the little fairy has read every book in the fairy school library and wants a new book, a new story, one thats biger then a toadstool and never has to end . Can trina find that book?

Nice pics, but words preachy.......2006-06-27
This book has a color photo on one page with a phrase under it and on the facing page it has a paragraph. For example: Page 26: "All of our nine lives are happier when we watch out for one another. Treat others as you wish to be treated. You may not have met them all yet, but SVOs (Special Valued Others) are present in your life - charish them." They do not all have "cat" slants (Nine lives). The paragraphs are very much "Self help" type. The photos are cute and get five stars, but the words are a little too preachy so two stars overall. I prefer books like "What Kittens Are", "Zen Cat", "What Cats Teach Us", "Cat Naps",etc.

Nice guys finish last... and then get spit on.......2003-10-12
For the woman that wrote below: The term "nice guy" does not refer to assertive, funny, etc. men; for, these types of men are actually men. What "nice guy" refers to are the docile, testosterone lacking whimps that become true friends with a girl and have dillusions that someday she'll see how much love he can offer her; the men that show themselves to be reliable companions in times of emotional crisis--like when a new guy f**** her and leaves her. In short, to be a "nice guy" is to lack balls when it comes to women. Of course this is book is a humorous look into the plight of a "nice guy." But the truth isn't far from reality. Women don't want sensitive, neutered men; they want a man who takes command--a man that acts like a man. Any woman that says otherwise is either a liar, has a chemical imbalance, or is a feminist(a filthy beast indeed). For those that suffer from nice guy-itis, take this book literally--it'll save you a bunch of grief.

I love this book. I had a string of really bad relationships and was always complaining to one of my guy-friends about them. He was a true Mr. Nice Guy. He got really sick of me, and suggested very "nicely" (as was always his fashion) that I read this book. No, I don't recommend following this book in order to get chicks, but I do recommend that some women read it very carefully. It's a comic book. No one likes to be lectured, but this book helps you take it a little easier. It also helps me recognize a Nice Guy when I see one, and now I'm married to one.
Good guide for Nice Guys.......2002-11-15
This was a simple book with some basic truths about dating that your parents didn't tell you. It includes some humorous illustrations and stories. I liked it bit prefer "How to be the jerk women love" by F.J. Shark.
If your sole purpose is to get laid, are you a nice guy?.......2002-11-05
Granted, the book have several funny lines and characterizations, but I feel that those who even take a few lines seriously are not very keen into introspection.
The book fails to include the view of a single woman on her perceptions about dating. It never mentions that nice guys who are funny, witty and asertive, take to bed much more women that those which are categorized as jerks.
The problem for the large majority of the so called "nice guys" is that they fail to recognize that their sole motivation for being "nice" is to take a woman to bed. So they try to sell themselves as harmless and honest or use the strategy of "best friend" to get close while being undercover.
Women on the other hand have a great sense of intuition to feel that those guys who portray themselves as "nice" are just a bunch of sex starved hipocrits, who use a lame strategy to get into their panties and most probably if they lack imagination and self assurance they must be lousy in bed.
So the dilemma is not between being nice or a jerk, the real issue is how to express what we want and if the answer is NO, how to move to the next relationship with your self steem untouched.
Been a while?.......2001-11-03
When you've gone without for a while, this book really hits home, serious or not. You can see the trends everywhere! I loaned this book to a friend (who didn't really need it), and haven't seen it since. Time to buy a new one! Being a nice guy myself, I completely empathize with Mr. Meleton.

If you like to own some really cool prints of Bugs Bunny, Tweety, or just the old folks from the Warner Bros. Studio, this is the book! It goes through the history of the animation studio and its founders. Chuck Jones is similar to Walt Disney, he had his own crew of animation masters to create a whole new perspective of cartoon.
One disappointing about this book is that its published date is 1997. Sadly "The Iron Giant" (released 1999) and "Cats Don't Dance" (1997) did not make it to the book; two of the most successful WB animated feature film. However, it is still a book to own and look for inspiration.

This book was well done and very appealing to the eye and informational to read. It gives the reader some good history of Warner Bros. cartoons and the rarely credited artists. Through-out the book there are pointers on how to draw various characters, but unfortunatly they are not as complete as one might have it. However, the overall is terrific.

It provides the information about different types of animation art such as production cel, sericel, limited edition. The reader can use this book to check the original prices and edition size of many WB limited edition cels.

I wouldn't waste the money.......2003-07-02
Sure you could get this guide and waste lotsa money, but why would you? Super Smash Brothers Melee is a game that doesn't require the use of "Strategy" guides because there is no basic strategy to give. Sure you could get it for all the events and unlock the secret characters, but again, to aquire most of the secret characters and such, no strategy is needed for it. Also, there is no reason to teach you and of the combos they show in the guide for each character, it just isn't neccessary. I wouldn't want to go out and buy this guide for a game where getting the secrets and unlocking everything is so simple and easy. It's not exactly what you need, considering SSBM isn't your Tekken like fighting game here.

If you need a reason to buy a Gamecube, this game is it. With over 300 trophies to unlock, and many characters and stages of Nintendo's past, this game will keep you playing for weeks. The guide comes with a move list of each character, and ways to unlock everything. Great game, Great guide!

This has been a really great book and has been a huge help in getting started in event planning. I've planned six events now, and this book is helping me understand some of the processes better and help me better hone my skills. Definitely recommended!

Good book to understand meeting planning, but not events.......2003-11-02
This is a comprehensive introductory book for anyone starting out in the meeting planning industry. The title is a bit misleading (Meeting AND Event Planning) as there is very little information on event planning itself - about 10 pages. The event planning section mostly concentrates on the events that would be part of a meeting (golf tournament, fundraiser, final night gala, etc.) but doesn't go into great detail. There are, however, concepts and information presented about meeting planning (checklists, timelines, vendors etc.) that can be easily transferred to the event planning process.
If meeting planning has recently become part of your job responsibilities, this guide will help you understand the basics. If you are looking for information about becoming an independent meeting planner or event planner (i.e.: getting clients, starting your company) you might need to continue looking for other resources.
Overall the book is well written, has plenty of examples and explains the underlying concepts to organizing a meeting.

I think this is the best guide for event and meeting planners. there is a lot of source references (especially internet sources available for professional event planners or prospective event planners) It is fun and easy to follow. Everything is clearly explained. There is not too many jargon words used.
I am yet in the middle of the book and I can't wait to see the later parts of it. I am getting all the necessary information I need.
New to Meeting & Event Planning? Start with this book........2001-05-03
This book is a great value for any individual who is just starting out or think about joining the industry. For the seasoned professional you will find a few things you may not have thought about or simply forgot about. In addition, it's a great piece to give to your superiors to explain, in a fun way, what exactly you do. The book expresses that those in the industry are professionals and that we are much more than mere "party planners." At times it can be a little too cute, but with a title like The Complete Idiot's Guide to Meeting and Event Planning some leeway should be given. Again, its a great start for an introduction to the industry. I would recommend for additional information check into some established organizations such as Professionals Convention Management Association, PCMA; Meeting Professionals International, MPI; and the Convention Industry Council, CIC. These organizations offer additional materials, at a slightly higher cost, but worth investigating if you are interested in a career planning meeting and events.
