Meet the Peebos, the most adorable intelligent bombs that ever blew up a bad guy! The pint-sized powder kegs score hit after hit with high-explosive humor, rounds of four-panel gags sure to pierce the funny bone of any reader!
Customer Reviews:
Wonderfully cute weapons of mass destruction!.......2007-09-12
Fred Perry's trademark humor and sharp art comes through perfectly in this book; focusing on the adventures of Brianna Diggers' sentient land mines (Peebos), specifically three whose personalities and abilities are patterned after the Digger sisters themselves, it's a strange and very funny romp through their misadventures in the Diggers household.
Especially at the low price, this comic is a terrific buy; check it out, and see for yourself!
I choose you, Peebochu!.......2006-03-07
Spinning off from his hit Gold Digger series, Fred Perry took the popular little robot characters, the Peebos, and gave them their own original graphic novel. The "Peebo Manga" features all new original material, and isn't a collected trade paperback. It's broken up into several short chapters involving the three main Peebos: Peebri, Peegi, and Peebrit.
The Peebos were first little robot smart bombs that Brianna(a composite clone of Gina & Brittany Diggers)had made. But later on in the Gold Digger storyline she made them into more little helper robots. Three of them she modeled after herself and her "sisters". Peebri gets into alot of trouble, and is always looking for chances to get new video games or blow crap up with her mounted laser cannon. Peegi thinks of herself as an explorer and relentlessly searches for new adventures, even in the trash can. Peebrit, who's modeled after Brittany, is a speed freak that grows a sudden fascination for cans of tuna, despite the fact that she has to sneak them past Brittany.
In the manga, we first start out with some normal antics from the Peebo Digger sisters, which leads into Peebri makes a working Katamari from some of Gina's rejected gizmos. Afterwards, Peegi takes them all into on a virtual RPG world. Then, Peebri floods the house with future versions of herself, and the Peebos have to take on a Tolkien-type quest to return Brittany's wedding ring. Plus, a few other random specs on the different brands of Peebos, and some GD character bios.
Neat stuff!
Book Description
From the id of Dave Cooper, creator of the critically-acclaimed Weasel comic book series from Fantagraphics and a designer of the Futurama television series on Fox, comes a surreal and unpredictable travelogue through a wholly unique cartoon universe that is both elegantly dream-like and grotesquely nightmarish. Suckle is Cooper's first major graphic novel, originally published in 1997 and unavailable for over three years. Since then, he has gone on to become one of the most acclaimed new cartoonists of the last ten years, winning multiple Ignatz and Harvey Awards for Weasel, which debuted in 1999 and has been Fantagraphics' most successful new series since the debut of Chris Ware's ACME Novelty Library in 1993.
Suckle spotlights Cooper's fascination with the surreal, sexual, and organic, and is reminiscent of the otherworldly dream logic of Jim Woodring's "Frank" stories. Suckle's protagonist, Basil, is born from a strange vulvic eruption in the desert. As his afterbirth is nibbled away by a myriad of outlandish scavengers, Basil naively sets out on a tangled, twisted quest for either a mother figure or a romantic interest. Cooper's bizarre and explicit themes and allegorically-rich imagery converge in an arresting, almost-psychedelic, literal and figurative climax from which Basil can begin to make sense of the world and his place in it. Printed on colored paper with limited two-color printing in parts, Suckle is as much a visual feast as it is a compelling fiction.
Customer Reviews:
Uncomfortable...yet strangely tittilating...........2004-04-23
Reading this graphic novel is like being thrown into the deep end of the pool: you aren't expecting such blunt and graphic realism, but once you get into it, it's hard to take your eyes away. Take care: this isn't remotely for a kid of any age.
Since the summary is taken care of, I will say that I found myself thinking the story plays out almost like a FA (fat admirer) confession, of sorts. The ideas, art and ultimately the moral are much deeper and more personal than the brutish, roughly realistic and oftentimes disturbing art style would let on. The idea of large women being attractive is not found much in modern media, let alone in comic books. At first glance this appears to be a perverse sex romp, but don't judge this book by its cover.
Ever read something that got under your skin?.......2000-11-02
Dave's art always makes my skin crawl, but it's also hypnotic -- the pages are interesting enough that I find myself skipping ahead without reading just to take in the landscapes that he's come up with (or the various fluids that might be dripping off his characters or buildings at any given time).
The story follows the beggings of Basil's life -- we see his birth, his first meeting with other humans (?), and his first experience with psychedaelics. And as this is a Dave Cooper book, there's lots of sex (none of it vanilla) and violence thrown into the mix!
Highly recommended!

Excellent Screen Play. Being a memeber of the Irish Freedom Committiee I have used bits and pc's., of this in our presentations, Also is there anyway a film verison is available in either vhs or dvd . I could sure use one if available.
Heartbreaking Account of the Human Impact of the 1981 Hunger Strike.......2006-04-21
After a prolonged "dirty protest" to be recognised as prisoners of war as opposed to terrorists, Irish republican H-Block inmates embarked on a hunger strike in the spring of 1981.
Set against the backdrop of this turbulent period, "Some Mother's Son" focuses on the unlikely friendship that develops between two mothers who each have sons involved in the strike.
"Some Mother's Son" is a heart breaking account of the human impact of this tragedy. Two mothers, one pro-republican the other a middle class schoolteacher, both struggle with the same painful decision. They may save their son's lives by taking them off the hunger strike or respect their beliefs but watch them die.
The screenplay's author's, Terry George and Jim Sheridan, also wrote "In the Name of the Father" which received four Academy Award Nominations.
Some liberties were taken with historical accuracy, and while not a "propaganda piece" the film and screenplay certainly take a pro-republican stance. Readers will need to do some additional reading and research to get a balanced view of events dramatized in the screenplay.

Three stars for the effort...but not the content........2003-03-01
Although undoubtedly written with good intentions, Genesis Inside & Out falls wide of the mark for a couple of very obvious reasons.
Firstly, and despite the minor coup of interviewing early 70's guitarist-of-about-one-month Mick Barnard for the book (along with new interviews with Steve Hackett and Anthony Phillips), four of the five major Genesis protagonists - Banks, Collins, Gabriel, and Rutherford - are represented only by bits and pieces of old interviews, hashed together from rock papers and a Virgin web site. Whether they were approached by Platts for this book, and declined to participate or grant new interviews, is not clear. What is clear though is that old ground is well and truly being trod, with very little new information of merit coming to light. Fans with no knowledge of Genesis' history will probably be okay with this, but those with a greater knowledge of the band will be left wanting.
Secondly, the book reads too much like a home-grown fan essay, and too little like objective biographical analysis. Ironically, although the author is quick to offer quite firm opinions on a number of issues - mostly related to a dislike of much of the post-Duke material - the way the book is written, in particular the use of sound-bites from old interviews, suggests some inadvertent and debatable conclusions, namely: that despite concerns Genesis couldn't survive without Peter Gabriel (they could, and did), musically the band actually never really survived the departure of Steve Hacket (when they clearly thought they could); that Banks doesn't seem to like much of the material or records from their entire 30-year career; that Collins can't seem to make up his mind if he likes "prog", and is almost rabid in his desire to break with the Gabriel/Hackett era past; that Rutherford seems to have preferred his 12-string duets with Anthony Phillips to just about anything else; that the Calling All Stations record/US tour was clearly the most ill-judged move of their entire career, and they really should have just stayed home after Collins quit. These conclusions, although possibly unintentional, merit discussion, but unfortunately the author leaves them hanging, without any analysis or investigation.
Although it has not been updated since the early 80's, and sadly remains out of print, Armando Gallo's superb I Know What I Like remains THE Genesis book, not just for his incredible photography, but for his concise yet detailed biography of the band. Robin Platts' effort, although welcome, unfortunately does not match the standard set by Gallo, or update the story in any essential and compelling way.
Solid Work Gives Background.......2002-03-17
The rock research era is upon us! British writers are pouring out book after book off trivia that is simultanesously entracing, irritating, and indispensible. Who really needs Pink Floyd Day by Day?
Genesis Inside & Out, however, is a cut about most of the other books of this type, and specifically from this imprint. Platts knows his subjects, and has throughly researched their activities, and their thoughts, particularly the processes behind their music, which I found most interesting.
If you are a Genesis fan, or someone interested in Post-Beatle's English rock, this is a good book for you.
Overall, A Good Look Back At This Great Band's History.......2002-02-23
To it's credit, Robin Platts' "Genesis: Inside & Out" is the only book about the rock group Genesis I've come across that is totally up to date with the band's history, including their last studio album, 1997's "Calling All Stations," and their pair of Archive box set releases from 1998 and 2000, respectively. Admittedly, it's a very good read overall, and thankfully, it does contain information about the band that I, a diehard Genesis follower for 20 years and counting, did not know about (such as the wealth of unreleased early Genesis songs that were NOT issued on the 1998 Peter Gabriel-era box set, with such titles as "Masochistic Man" & "Wooden Mask." I wonder if we'll ever get to hear these tunes?). However, the book is far from perfect. Aside from the occasional typo, Platts overlooks several well-known moments in Genesis' history (no mention of the famous onstage explosion at Oslo during the "Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" tour?), and he also makes it obvious that he's not really a fan of the band's Phil Collins-era material from 1978 onwards, with perhaps the lone exception of the "Duke" album from 1980 (and I *strongly* disagree with his derogatory remarks about the band's self-titled album from 1983---his reasons for not liking this excellent album are quite ridiculous). Still, I can't deny the fact that I did learn some more interesting things about my favorite band. "Genesis: Inside & Out" doesn't match up to "Genesis: I Know What I Like" by Armando Gallo," "The Book Of Genesis" by Hugh Fielder (currently out of print), or "Genesis: A Biography" by Dave Bowler & Bryan Dray, which, in my opinion, are easily the most insightful books ever written about the band. Nonetheless, a diehard Genesis fan can't go wrong by adding Robin Platts' book to their shelf, even if his comments about the band's later material are pretty silly. 3 out of 5 stars.
What was truly behind the music of Genesis.......2001-12-29
What a refreshing book on the band Genesis! As current as 2000 - it's nice to have a new book of recent info and new old information. I am a huge fan and have just about everything there is out there - I Know What I Like - Armando Gallo, Musical Box, etc. This book has the most new quotes, background and interesting information about the band-without personal drama or tabliod style journalism. Just straight forward, well-written and specific information on the details behind the writing and recording of the songs. If you're new to Genesis, I would recomend the aforementioned books (I Know What I Like) first, and this a close second. My highlights would be the detail on rare recordings from the late 60's/early 70's and details from the memebers themselves. Highly recomended!
Thier Own Special Way.......2001-07-10
A good overview of the whole career of this great band, "From Genesis To Revelation" all the way to "Genesis Archive 2". Although a relatively short book the author provides lots of information on each album and subsequent tour. One of the best aspects of the book are the numerous quotes from most of the band members, as well as some of the band's managers and producers. One of the books few shortcomings is in the coverage of the many solo releases from the band. Solo releases by Anthony Philips, Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Steve Hackett, Mike Rutherford and Peter Gabriel are mentioned and briefly discussed. I would have like to have read more on all of the solo releases. As a big fan of Genesis reading about the creative process behind each album made me run to my CD collection to listen to the wonderful music created by this band. I also learned many things about the band that I was not aware of. I would highly recommend this book to Genesis fans.

A good shift from ol' Seattle, but it's outdated........2000-06-09
This sourcebook describes the United Kingdom of the Shadowrun Universe, with its misteries and dangers. It presents all info in the Shadowland Style, with some hilarious comments, and has the same high-quality graphics as all Fasa Products. The book also presents rules for druids and new totems. The catch is, it was one of the first sourcebooks, written for SR1. So, most of the rules presented don't fit in with SR3 or even SR2, and probably have been incorporated into the game. And the History section lacks some ten years (it stops around 2050). Anyway, it's a good book if you intend to run the UK, but be aware that some hard updating work needs to be done.

Customer Reviews:
Good examples of motivation.......2006-06-23
I've always seen motivation as more than what most do. It isn't something that is short lived if we don't want it to be. Like anything motivation can be kept alive through the use of logical steps.
You won't just stay on a feverish plateau as you have following an inspiring speech, you have to internalize it. You do this with discipline. You continue to use what you're motivated toward until it is a part of you. When that has happened, you get to a higher appreciation of what your goal is and then you give it to others. When they receive it and act on it, the originator receives feedback that re-energizes him as well. This cycle can continue as long as the cycle continues.
This latter part of motivation seems to be what Mr. Baldoni has captured very nicely. Motivation is almost like a skill, the more you use and refine it, the stronger it becomes.
IT WILL LIFT YOU UP.......2005-01-19
Motivation pumps people up, but is often temporary and leaves when the "pumper" leaves. Inspiration lifts you up and remains when you leave. More than just show and explain how these great leaders motivate, this terrific book demonstrates how these leaders inspired their people to be all that they could be... and then some.
If you want to infuse energy in your people at work or in your personal life, you will be lifted up and pumped up by Baldoni's book and want to pass the energy on.
You remember stories long after concepts have left your mind. The stories that GREAT MOTIVATION SECRETS tells will stay with you long enough to emulate the "best practices" of these great leaders so that one day you, too, will have great stories of your own.
A must read for anyone who wants to energize the people around them.
