One of The better Marvel compilations........2002-07-31

Captain America has been drawn into the chase for all 6 segments of an object of reputed occult powers, The Bloodstone. Also on the trail in Baron Helmut Zemo along with his mercenaries Batroc, Machete and Zaran. So alongside his former foe, Diamondback, Captain America must travel the world in this deadly race for the Bloodstone. Little do the rivals know, that there is also a third party with an interest in the stone.

This trade paperback collects issues #357 - #364 of Captain America which involves a very fast paced, Indiana Jones type action/adventure, sees a kindling romance between Cap and his former foe, Diamondback, plus introduces us to a new extremely dangerous foe, Crossbones.

The artwork from Kieron Dwyer is fantastic, storytelling from Mark Gruenwald in superb, his run on Captain America being one of the best. One of the better Marvel collections out there. RECOMMENDED!!!!

A great read from Captain America's best writer!.......2002-01-18

Mark Gruenwald and his team wrote Captain America better any others to work on Cap before or since, and The Bloodstone Hunt is a perfect example of this. It's a Indiana Jones-like 6 issue story arc which also features Cap's best girlfriend ever- Diamondback, and also Baron Zemo, Crossbones, and Batroc! I almost wish that I didnt have the comics so I could read this for the first time, just great stuff. And, this story arc was just one of many great ones from Gruenwald and company, there was also the Scourge arc, the Streets of Poison arc, the "New Captain America John Walker" arc, "The Death of Cap", the Serpent Society issues, among many others. Just excellent, excellent reading.

Cap's most entertaining adventure to date........2000-05-03

It's got everything you could possibly want - exotic locations, dastardly villains, damsels in distress, a race against time for a weapon of immense power, and everyone's favorite Blue Boyscout -- Captain America! All I can describe it as is Captain America meets Indiana Jones. It's my most favorite Cap run of all time, and the love interest, Diamondback, is the best to date. Please come back to the title Mr. Gruenwald! And bring Kieron with you...

Princeton and Rutgers played the first game, in 1869. But it was at Yale where football evolved and no institution has a more meaty history of the sport. Yale was the first college to record 800 victories, that milestone reached in the year 2000. The game was played against the background of the Depression. Yet Princeton's Palmer Stadium was full that warm November afternoon for the first time in six years. “I guess people wanted to get their minds off their troubles,” said the Yale quarterback, Jerry Roscoe, who threw the winning touchdown pass to Larry Kelley, the latter the first winner of the Heisman Trophy.

Bill Wallace's book, Yale's ironmen, is a treasure of knowledge. Not just the knowledge of the Yale-Princeton football game of 1934 but the human history of the men who played in the game, their coaches, their families and how the development of television and professional football affected the attitudes of consumers for football and other sports activities.

Bill has given readers a unique gift of historical perspective on the game and how commercialism has distorted the sport. Though it's focussed on football and the details of the game, it will appeal to the general reader. It is also a reminder that the vicissitudes of life can be most difficult when the bright spotlight of fame has turned away.

It is writing at its best, easy to read, unvarnished truth and facts, heartfelt without spin on the life of the game and its participants, a very poignant tale of the joys and woes of reality by an author who knows, and luckily is sharing his knowledge with the general reader.

More than just a football book.......2005-10-26

I bought this book as a long-time college football fan and found it to be one of the best sports books I have read. Much more than just football, this book tells the stories of the players and coaches and is a wonderful look at life and sports in the 1930's. All of this makes this a great read for sports fans or just those who remember what life was like in 1934. A truly inspirational story of one team's refusal lose against incredible odds.

This trivia book is very entertaining to read and the format is excellent. The author gives the questions on the front of each page, and the corresponding answers on the back of the same page. Very convenient.

I found this book to be interesting and well researched, but hardley original. It contains the same trivia that many other presentations have stated over the years. So, at best, I can only give this rendering a average rating for trying, but not suceeding, to exite my trivia mind at all.

Baldoni's "Great Communication Secrets Of Great Leaders" is a well-researched and highly readable "how-to" of leadership communications.
