Cuando adquiri este libro pense en que solo me ayudaria en comprender mejor al Photoshop con el After Fx pero fue mejor que eso...
En realidad entendi el como y el porque de hacer muchos procesos desde Photoshop pàra agilizar y darle mas realismo a las composiciones.
Adventencia: No es un libro facil de leer para principiantes, es mejor leer cada capitulo y repetir ejercicios al menos 2 veces. Eso incrementa el tiempo de terminarlo de leer.
Si yo fuera tu, si lo compraria.

Puede bajar cientos de tutoriales de internet, pero no podras entender el como realizar desde cero proyectos de mayor alcance sin la ayuda de libros como este.

I have to say that you MUST need a solid undertanding or at least the basics of After Effects before getting this book. Also, there are not many figures to ilustrate the projects in an easy way.
Get the book if you have good knoledge of After Effects.

Book Could have been SOOOO Good............2005-10-11

This book seemed to cover all the topics I wanted to get me in to being able to doing some of the things that I wanted to do right away with 3-D photo montages and working in 3-D space with AE and Photoshop but the book skips far too many steps and assumes you can read minds and know the "in-between" steps to get from one set of instructions to the next. I would not recommend this book to any one who does not have a very good grasp of AE. If you know AE very well then this may be the book for you. As for me I guess I'll just have to go back to my Total Training DVD's but I was hoping to get up and running a little quicker.

Even Slayers Make Mistakes.......2002-09-25

This trade paperback presents a serial story that originally appeared in issues 21 through 25 of the BTVS comics. Officially it occurs at the end of the third season, but is more of a bridge into season four, presenting Buffy as a new freshman in college, desperately trying to balance the pressures of real scholastic work with her night job - slaying. When an old, scary legend of 'Mad Jack' comes back to life, Buffy over-reacts and kills the first suspect demon without a thorough investigation. The result is a major crisis when it turns out that Mad Jack was just the guardian over something much worse.

Originally released during the Roman conquest of Carthage, Ky-Laag is major badness. He was only brought under control at that time by the wiles of Vraka, another demon, who led a cult called 'The Blood of Carthage.' Several thousand years later Buffy has let the rabbit out of the hate, and Vraka heads for Sunnydale to try to stop Ky-Laag and, in his spare time, kill the offending slayer. Buffy feels the same way about Vraka, but, if they don't work something out, they will be dead and the rest of us will be worshipping Ky-Laag.

One of the other key story arcs is Willow's need for emancipation from a Xander who still treats her like a childhood sidekick. As a young woman with significant magical and intellectual skills this has become more than a little irritating. In a series of flashbacks we see the developing relationship between the two as children. One in which Xander often took the lead. The other piece of history is a series of pieces about Vraka and reason for his bad feelings towards Spike. It should be no surprise that these do not paint the vampire with a chip in his head in a very good light.

One has to think of 'The Blood of Carthage' as more than a trade paperback rehashing the contents of a series of comic books. The story itself is larger than its media, and the trade paperback or graphic novel suits it best. Part of this is due to the efforts of Christopher Golden as writer, and the rest is due to editor Scott Allie's decision to deviate from the story telling style in the previous comic series - 'Bad Blood.' This is not intended to be a criticism of Andi Watson's rambling nine-issue series. Instead, Allie decided it was time for a change of pace and then turned to Golden, a proven Buffy novelist, to implement the idea.

Golden's story line is structured much like a novel, with a focused major story arc and rising levels of complexity and intensity. To break up the pacing a bit we are treated with flashbacks to Willow's childhood with Xander and Spike's first encounter with Vraka. Another thing that makes this series special is the carefully managed creative artwork. While Cliff Richards is the artist for the main story, Chynna Clugston-Major and the team of Paul Lee and Brian Horton each get one of the flashback series. This is cleverly orchestrated to provide different moods and contexts. The art really is excellent, and a separate article on what went into it is included in this volume.

If you have been wondering which trade paperback to buy first, this should be high on your list.

Xander and Willow flashbacks. . .a great trade!.......2001-12-23

I think this trade has issues 21-25 of the series, I can't be sure but the info I got is from the Dark Horse comics website. The issues aren't sectioned in the trade (the blood of carthage), they run together to form a really good story with rather good artwork. We even get to see Xander and Willow as kids! Its a good stand alone trade, I really recommend it. Spike and Dru make an appearance and Giles makes scones! The coolest thing about the trade is the Xander/Willow storyline because it really examines their relationship and who is the sidekick (or not). Christopher Golden is a great Buffy writer, I suggest you pick this one up.

A bloody good read.......2001-07-19

The only problem with this excellent graphic novel is that it isn't a full length book. A plot so complex and characters so rich they deserve 300 pages. Christopher Golden never disappoints.

The art work is exciting and colorful. I think the actors are well drawn. Their voices are true.

Set in the fourth season, Buffy is at college. The pressures weigh heavy on her slayer duties. When she kills the wrong demon all Hell breaks loose which forces deadly enemies to work together. I recommend this to all Buffy fans

Great Artwork.......2001-06-17

I thought this graphic novel was very good because it stayed true to the characters. The only problems were that the story takes place in season four but at the beginning of the book it says it takes during season three. The other problem (which is only minor) was that willow had longer hair in the book than she actually did at that time during the show. Sounds nitpicky I know but what can I say I know my Buffy stuff.

Jon Hein's book, "Jump The Shark" is an excellent source of information for just about any movie that you grew up watching. Whether it's "Three's Company," "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," or "Family Ties," this book is an excellent reference for those films you enjoyed watching as a child into adulthood. It also includes more recent shows from the 21st century like "Alias."

I rate this book 5 stars because it's well-written, an easy read, and most importantly, not only well-organized, but entertaining!

Enjoyed hearing a cassette version of JUMP
THE SHARK, written and read by Jon Hein . . . if you're
not familiar with the concept, it is the exact moment when
things go bad on a TV show . . . this was first noticed
on THE HAPPY DAYS when Fonzie literally jumped a shark
on water skis . . . the series was never the same afterwards.

Hein expanded the concept to encompass many other
TV shows; in addition, he developed a popular website
to share his ideas.

In JUMP THE SHARK, he also looks at musicians, celebrities,
athletes, and politicians . . . while some of this was interesting,
I enjoyed the TV part most--perhaps because I grew up on many
of the TV shows that he mentions . . . also, reminiscing about TV
can be fun; the same can't be said, for example, when thinking
about Hitler.

Yet I did get several chuckles when thinking about how DALLAS
turned around when a whole year was wiped off the books because
of Bobbie's dream . . . or when BEVERLY HILLS spotted a fin
the year Brenda went abroad . . . now those were incidents
that merited discussion--much of it quite profound, if memory
serves me correctly.

I think Jon Hein is taking himself too seriously. It was a cute idea, but this book got written ass-backward. It's padded by little sidebars that might have come from an inflight magazine ("Ten Famous High Schools on TV," "TV Characters with Handicaps," that have nothing whatever to do with the topic. And then, the greatest error, expanding the concept beyond TV shows to sports, politics, world events, and so forth. Here Hein goes wrong more often than not. Sure, we all have our own ideas about success and failure, but he and his crew get dogmatic to their own detriment. Is "Conspiracy Theory" where Mel Gibson jumped the shark or is it one of his better movies? Who's to say, isn't it all a matter of taste?

Too bad, because his original idea and website made us all think and nod and shake with excitement, yes, yes, we cried, finally someone came up with a phrase to express our horror at "a very special episode," "twins being born," "we're moving to Hollywood!" and all the other bad plot lines that happen to wonderful TV series.

I decided to be more generous than some of the other reviewers and give this four stars, if only because I am a fan of the site. The book seems to be sloppy and drags in quite a few places. Also, there's too much space given to setting up the "shark" moment; the actual moment when a show/artist/public figure jumped merits little more than a couple of sentences in the last few paragraphs. I can't help but feel this was assembled hastily, perhaps to cash in on the popularity of the site. Also, the straying from television shows, while welcome, quickly becomes dull and rather pointless.

However, I went ahead and gave it five stars because of the intent: documenting the point when celebrities started taking themselves too seriously. In our fame-obsessed culture, it's good to have barometers that measure the moment when a actor or show stops being "normal" and becomes "self-important". So the book itself serves a useful function. The website deals soley with TV, so the book's excursion into other areas is thought-provoking nevermind the absence of a satisfying result. My advice is to seek out the website first (shouldn't be hard to do ;-D), and perhaps skim through this on occasion. Hopefully any subsequent JTS efforts won't come any closer to "jumping the shark" than this one did.

This book is as good, if not better than the "making of" book for the first Jurassic Park Movie. It's filled with great pictures, and stories of preproduction, and production. If you want a good look behind the scenes, this is what you'll want!

Original Faberge designs.......2000-10-12

This book reproduces 2 original faberge design books found in St Petersburg. They cover the years 1909 to 1915. Before Faberge sold an item they drew it in these ledgers in watercolour and noted all the details of the stones and materials it was made of.

Many of the designs are for tiaras, fans, broaches etc. In some cases they have been matched up with the original pieces so you get to see both the drawing and what was actually made.

Book Description

Our lives are such that moral wrongdoing is sometimes inescapable for us. We have moral responsibilities to persons which may conflict and which it is wrong to violate even when they do conflict. Christopher W. Gowans argues that we must accept this conclusion if we are to make sense of our moral experience and the way in which persons are valuable to us. In defending this position, he critically examines the recent moral dilemmas debate. He maintains that what is important in this debate is not whether there are irresolvable moral conflicts, but whether there are moral conflicts in which wrongdoing is unavoidable. Though it would be incoherent to conclude moral deliberation by deciding to perform incompatible actions, he argues that there is nothing incoherent in supposing that we have conflicting moral responsibilities. In this way, he shows that it is possible to capture the intuitions of those who have defended the idea of moral dilemmas while meeting the objections of those who have rejected this idea. Gowans carefully evaluates utilitarian and Kantian analyses of moral dilemmas. He argues that these approaches eliminate genuine moral conflict only by displacing persons as direct objects of moral concern. As an alternative, he develops a more concrete account in which moral responsibilities to persons are central. The book also includes discussions of Melville's Billy Budd, methodology in moral philosophy, moral pluralism, moral tragedy, and "dirty hands" in politics.

First published in 1979. Volume 1 covers all lines after 1 P-QB4 P-K4, Black's most popular reply to the English Opening. It often leads to sharp, tactical play with attacking chances for both sides. The book is logically organised and unlike some works on this opening includes transpositional possibilities at all stages by cross-reference to other lines.

Excellent PMO book.......2007-09-10

I help corporations build PMOs. This book does a great job of covering some of latest and most effective thinking, tools and techniques in the business.
The author does a great job covering many of the project management approaches available today. He especially does a great job explaining the use of Lean, Critical Chain and Scrum techniques.

A must for every professionals bookshelf.

A good, solid book.......2007-05-15

I really liked this book for it's "advanced" nature. I think that if you're just starting out on the path towards a PMO it might be a bit much but for anyone serious about managing their project portfolio in a way that adds value, it hits the mark.

Implementing a PMO.......2005-08-16

Overall a good book, with lots of good advice for those starting or improving a PMO.

However it got a bit hung up in the necesity of directly adding value to every project, e.g. by reducing cyckle time and increaing throughput. My organization cleary sees the value of implementing a PMO, but does not necesarily want to change our whole approach to Project Management.

A must-read for project-based organizations.......2004-08-14

A very complete book on the subject of project management offices (PMO). It presents a complete and practical how-to guide to selling, establishing, running, and controlling PMOs in organizations, with a constant eye on the business value (ROI).

The section on strategic planning was an eye opener for me in terms of the value that a PMO can bring to the organization in supporting the selection of the `right' projects, i.e. a well balanced project mix that maximizes the return on investment of the portfolio. It is my experience that few organizations think in those terms and it often results in project selections being made based on the clout of their `champions' or by simply jumping from emergency to emergency, strategic projects becoming more the exception than the rule, with the negative bottom line impacts that it implies. Obviously there lies also the greatest challenge of the PMOs given that they have to carve a role for themselves in the high spheres of management where those decisions are made. They also need to instill in management the rigor of project selection, above and beyond mere intuition or customer pressures. This is truly where the strategic value of the PMO is.

Another compelling aspect of the book is the incorporation of the principles of the theory of constraints (TOC). For the organizations that are interested in reaping the benefits of critical chain project management (CCPM) for instance and applying TOC to maximize project flow in their organization, this is a plus. This is one of the rare books that addresses PMO in the context of TOC. The readers should quickly be able to envision the bottom line impact that an efficient and strategic PMO (at the portfolio level) combined with the well documented results of CCPM implementations at the project level could have in their organizations.

This book is great.
It provides a comprehensive, step by step approach to project management.
It gave us some outstanding tips and insights that enabled our projects to deliver more with less and have greater impact on our business. Reading this book provided us with a robust governance structure, tools, processes and frameworks which followed through to the bottom line. The benefit of implementing the concepts of this book blew us away.
It is a must read for project managers and project management executives.
