Love this book--Mac user.......2007-09-29
Even though I use a Mac and this book was written for Windows users, most of it can be applied to the Mac platform also. Mac users can skip the Organizer section; we have iPhoto and don't need the Elements Organizer anyway. We Mac users also must make a few adjustments; for example when told to use the Control key, we use the Apple Command key.
I'd already taught myself how to use several of the features in Elements 3, but since buying this book, I've become amazed at the many marvels of this program that I hadn't yet discovered. Kelby gives specific easy to follow instructions.
Still, it would be great if more was written for the Mac. There are many of us loyal Mac users out there, who aren't about to give up our wonderful Macs.

Fantastic Instructional Book.......2007-04-05
I would recommend this book to the person who doesn't like to read a lot of verbiage. This book states the facts one one side of the page while illustrating the screen shot on the other side of the same page. I found it most helpful and easy reading. It also helps you up front and first with organizing folders and saving files to folders - doesn't jump right in and starts on edit instruction. As I believe organization is the most difficult part of Photoshop to learn, I liked being walked thru the steps.

If you hate theory, you will love this book. The author makes certain that you do not glean any insights into how Elements 3 works. If you want to crack this book open each time you use Elements, and follow the button-clicking instructions, you will always be on Square One, if that is what you like. For instance, Layers are never described or explained. There is no chapter on Layers. No mention of Layers, the Layers Palette, or Backgrounds, until: "Make a copy of the photo by dragging-and-dropping your Background Layer on the Create a New Layer icon at the top of the Layers palette. This will create a layer titled "Background Copy." No definition of any of these terms has appeared, and presto, you are supposed to know what he is talking about.
Also, if you love chattiness, talk on peripheral subjects, and silly, irrelevant humor, this is definitly your book. Remember: no theory in this book! No why, no because, no overview, just do this and do that. Definitely not my cup of tea.
Scott Kelby is My Favorite Photoshop Author.......2006-06-05
First a confession! Scott Kelby is my favorite Photoshop author/DVD presenter. (Eat your heart out Deke McClelland, my second choice!)
Now that that's out of the way, this is not just another Elements replacement manual, making up for Adobe's lack of one. What is different about this book is that Kelby writes in a thoroughly enjoyable and easy to understand style as he opens each chapter with a small farce and then in real time proceeds to take you step by step through one or another of those work flows needed to correct or enhance an image into something worth keeping. As Kelby says in the "Read This First" chapter (Introduction, by another name), "... I tried not to put things in this book that are already in every other Photoshop book out there."
The book covers work flow from Organizer to Editor, fixes for all the usual image defects or enhancements and output procedures for print, slideshow, e-mail and website. There is no CD with the book, but in a practice that appears to be gaining acceptance in this type of book, the images used in the book are available at the author's website.
I enjoyed using this book to improve my own limited Elements (and Photoshop) skills. There are just enough basics within his procedures in the book for Newbies to learn their basic skills and enough advanced editing for experienced editors to enjoy. I recommend this book. (Reviewed by MiltK)

A solid introduction to Photoshop Elements 3 that will appeal to photographers moving from traditional film and darkroom printing to digital photography. While this book doesn't venture too far into 'advanced' techniques, and doesn't explore the 'hidden features' mentioned in some other Elements guides, it does cover all the essentials and includes some useful tips and techniques. Comparisons with film camera and darkroom techniques will appeal to traditional photographers.
If you're new to Elements, this guide will give you a thorough grounding, but if you've been using Elements for some time and are looking for more advanced techniques then you'll probably find another book more interesting.

Funniest book ever made.......2000-06-11
The "Ensucklopedia" is definitely the funniest book I've ever read. If you used to like watching Beavis & Butt-Head, you gotta get this book. Beavis & Butt-Head go through the letters of the alpabet talking about different things on every letter. For example, in the C's they will talk about Chicks and Concerts Beavis & Butt-Head style.
Every page of this book, or "Ensucklopedia," is hilarious and I recommend it to anybody.
Funniest book I've ever read... I read it everyday!!!.......1999-06-14
This book has everything from classified ads to songs written by Beavis & Butt-Head to the story of creation. All through 6th grade I read this in SSR and I laughed everytime. I lost the book a few years ago, and just rebought it june, 1999... I laughed harder then ever... I finally got all the jokes. Get it!!!

...at every cliche in this book. Ms. Rosenthal and Mr. Dardess quizzed every in law, every outlaw, every aunt and uncle, parent and grandparent available, scribbled on the back of cocktail napkins, woke up in the middle of the night to scratch on the back of a light bill envelope to get all the cliches anyone could ever imagine and some that no one would ever have thought of...the cartoons, (listed as being done by the CRAG and Peter Lavigna) are hilarious, too. A chicken depositing eggs on the highway divider is "laying it on the line" and Bowser in his canine residence while consuming a frankfurter shows us "it's a dog eat dog world" (rimshot!).... Anyhoo, there are hilarious dialogs like "Mr. Arbuthnot and the Meaning of life" and "Mom and Pop And Sis And Junior" arguments that will make you sick with glee and tickled pink on how cleverly several cliches are placed in context of a conversation or two or three...the index alone is a wealth of information. Or a cavern of puns, however you look at it. You will fully enjoy this one. And when you finish, hand this book over to a friend, so he/she can get a kick out of it, also. (You know stacking my reviews with a boat load of cliches is right up my alley. Why did you think I could not resist tossing a few more logs in the fire in 'this' review ...?)

Book was in perfect condition with the exception of some small damage that occurred during shipping. The company packaged it well, I think the postoffice just used metal straps during shipping which damaged the book a little. But the company shipped it out immediately which is appreciated!
Strategic Marketing Problems... Not Solutions.......2003-08-17
I was disappointed. The book does contain some interesting thoughts, but 90% of the content is a description of companies facing marketing problems (case studies with a lot of facts). The author doesn't offer the solutions and best practises that would help solve these problems. While reading this book, i felt i was eating a burger without meat. Something is missing...
This is a good book for teachers who want case studies for their students to work on. It's a classroom book. It's not a good book if you want want to read marketing theory and best practises (if you're already in the management world).
Great and comprehensive.......1998-05-28
I am a MBA Candidate with a finance focus who had the pleasure to use this book. Never before had I imagined that marketing could have the amount of numerical focus that this book shows. There's a case for every type of industry and many world-famous companies in this book. What else is missing from an introduction to marketing text?!

I'm a MBA student in marketing. This book is good, but just that... good. I'm absolutely certain that somewhere has to be a book about strategic marketing that has a little more information (that's the problem, little theory and plenty of numbers) and not so expensive.
