Poet, novelist, essayist, editor, anthologist, lexicographer, and painter, Clarence Major is one of the most challenging, prolific, yet underappreciated contemporary African American artists. This collection combines poetry, prose, and art by Major with critical essays by leading scholars that showcase Major's aesthetic movement across literary, cultural, and political boundaries and illuminate the complex relationship between the artist's writing and painting.

Although Major's artistic vision is grounded in the historical experiences of black and Native American peoples, he boldly experiments with crossing boundaries of all types. Excellent Book for Beginners or Avid Users Switching Over.......2006-06-28

I have been an Avid user all my life and I finally decided to buy Final Cut for my personal lap top computer when I switched to a Mac this year. This Visual QuickStart Guide is the perfect transition tool to move from Avid to Final Cut seamlessly. It got my brain thinking Final Cut instead of comparing it to Avid. Great book and great price. The only downside is there is virtually no discussion of how to use LiveType.

This is a humourous telling of Sir Guillaumel's first reign as King of Caid- some ripples of which even were heard up here in the West.

I recommend this book for any of the following:
Those in the SCA
Those interested in the SCA
Those thinking about "going for Crown" in the SCA!
and those that enjoy some slightly offbeat real-life humour, even if you have never even heard of the SCA.

Warning- do not read this book when drinking carbonated beverages!

Not quite up to the level of Terry Pratchett, so it only gets 4 stars.

I found gambling stories in this book that I never heard of.
As to making money playing baccarat its still about a 50-50 chance. You have to get lucky, and Stewart admits it. With a large bankroll I believe you can make money if you are patient and will accept small pay offs. Outlines story of Australian
millionaire that beat Las Vegas but does not go into specifics of exactle how he did it

Far from a gem.......2003-10-14

This nicely produced book contains stories from the author's personal experience with baccarat and a table summarising data from 160 shoes. His "rule of three", unfortunately, is NOT supported by the data. Thus the merit of the book is limited. Kayser's book is more useful.

Although this book does not recommend any specific system to employ at the tables, it does however give the reader a breakdown of result occurence (banker, player) which could be used when anticipating the best time to place a bet.

This book is an excellent memoir of one man's life in the casinos (in this case publisher Lyle Stuart). Well-written and engaging, the only reason it does not get five stars is because there is no mathematical way of beating games such as craps, baccarat, or blackjack (without counting, which is not covered in this book). Still, if you don't know how to properly gamble in a casino, this volume will help you. Very good!

This book is about developing a winning philosophy for gambling. While it does include some strategic tips for playing casino games, the book does not set out to teach you how to play. Instead of focusing on the rules and strategy for individual games, it teaches money managment and how to maximize your chances of leaving the casino with more money in your pocket than you brought in. Lyle Stuart is an acknowledged gambling expert, and he offers up his own experiences in playing and watching casino games. Even though there is a bit too much self-congratulations throughout, his stories are entertaining, and he does a good job of explaining complex odds to the layman. This is a very useful book for anyone who has a basic understanding of casino play.

A Must Have Book for the Craps Shooter.......2001-12-10

This is a great book to get if you are a novice craps shooter. It doesn't get into the step by step betting sequences like some other books. If that's what you're looking for than this isn't the bookto buy. This is an "attitude" book. It explains a few strategies and talks about the mental toughness to be a good craps shooter. The best part and biggest reason to buy is the exercise about rolling the dice and charting the outcomes! You'll be amazed!!

Accurate gambling info and Fun........2000-10-31

I enjoyed this book because it had a realistic sense of what it is like to play and gamble in the Casinos in Vegas and Atlantic City. Mr. Stuart has "been there, done that". I have used with some success two of his "systems", on occasion. He knows percentages and how to use them, and his other advice on gambling is very helpful. We all know the house will always win in the long run, but he really puts it to them, in his lucky streak, and I believe, as does he, that is the only way to go.!! Great Reading.

Packed with true grit and determination. Funny and witty at times. True stories from a 'high roller' hit home even for one who spends his time at the 2$ tables. Has saved me thousands. I am enjoying this book for a class I am taking. It is nice and easy to understand. It has lots of helpful ideas and it is fairly comprehensive.

The author attempts to break down the different concepts of CA real estate by presenting the concept then explaining it with an example. There are a few errors noted (mostly in spelling and grammar), but other than that the book is very easy to read and understand if you have a real estate dictionary or some other type of outside text help. The author goes over the basic principles of CA real estate, but when it comes to specifics, the book is really lacking. Overall, this book is great if one decides to use it for a class to supplement the instructor, but I wouldn't use this book in lieu of an instructor.
