Ashbery Unplugged.......2003-01-20
The range of styles surveilled in this anthology, chanted aloud, taps on the eardrum like some snooty, kibitzing skip-rope rhyme: from Flemish primitivism to Blakean theosophy to Japanese photography to Bulgarian art to Barbizon landscapes to Italian baroque to Francis Baconýs death-empty Existenz.... (And skip, and weave, and jump, and sashay.) Ashberyýs weekly obligation to grind out art-gallery reportage takes the edge off his game (there is little zing and panache in these articles, surely not the Ashbery of ýConvex Mirrorý or ýWet Casementsý or ýTapestryý), but we can sense the poet assembling secret stanzas beneath the prim, deadpan facade, the lyrical footnoting of each gallery-critique with a submerged kabbalah of vision-forming events. Many of the articles seem like secret rehearsals for the sinuous liquid-measures that would shoal in on the melt-waters of Ashberyýs passing-strange future verse odysseys. Being forced to *respond* to such a barrage of multicultural artworks, consistently and intelligently, may have been the excitant to desert-thirst Ashbery needed, an entry-burn to some exotic, chimerical, Parisian boot-camp of the Critical Eye set to hone his assimilative powers.
Here, his tone is light and disaffected, rinsed clean of resentment, of snooty ire (of polemic, in short). He smiles without mirth. He muses quietly on the splotched canvases and hieroglyphic streaks of pigment smeared straight from the tube. The painting glasses his eye, drizzling a cool rain on the transformative poetic pyre, surrendering the *gravitas* of the nipping stanza for the quiet, unassuming air of journalism and reportage. Admirers of *Flow Chart* or *Houseboat Days* or *Can You Hear, Bird?* must tune to a different wavelength, endure Ashberyýs incognito for 400 pages of canny, priggish prose.
To his credit, however, Ashbery manages to clarify our confusion without diminishing it, allowing the painting or sculpture or collage to work its idiopathic design into the crawling hues of our ocular node, to extend its mesh of associations into us, to interleave its voice with the recessed intaglio of our deep painterly source-code, because the pattern gleams there, too.
Granted, all great love wants to *create* the beloved, and I may be over-subjectifying my experience of these essays. (Ashbery is, after all, no Arthur C. Danto, much less a Ruskin or a Pater.) Poems like ýTapestryý taught me how and whom to love, and left me burdened with a programme for self-enhancement that would keep me howling to an inward moon for as long as I can read and write (silly pretentious tart that I am). If no such creature is ever sighted, we are resolved to create one in its stead. Likewise, whenever Ashberyýs journalism disappoints us by not *attacking* these gallery-exhibitions with the same gold-standard inbreaking rush of poetic zeal weýve come to expect, there is always the temptation to project our own cocksure aesthetic fantasies onto the stark-white glossy canvas of the not-quite-there.
ýThe conception is interesting: to see, as though reflected / In streaming windowpanes, the look of others through / Their own eyes....ý --ýWet Casementsý
Few people really care whether the canvases of George Mathieux really surge with polychromatic rhythms equal to the fin-de-siecle squiggling of Franceýs post-Dada cabal, whether William Blakeýs illuminated epics prognosticate the kino-eye intensity of modern cinema, whether H.R. Gigerýs machine-world mechanosphere can help us de-romanticize the industrial megalomania that has dessicated the Earth, and our refusal to know is already part of the disaster. Ashberyýs book stands a minor classic to help us bulwark the spelunking eye against an ýanything goesý contemporary art-culture that would lead us to believe that, well, anything goes....
Nobody seems to remember the utopian art-academies that John Ruskin or Walter Pater (or, heck, even Camille Paglia) bequeathed to us in blueprint, a god-revealing curriculum that combined Renaissance audacity with the semiotic motion-sculptures of modern cinema with the elite conceptual sonatas of post-Nietzschean tragic theater to tear modern culture a new one. Rather we have university arts programs that nurture aggressive extroverts in fashion-victim garb who wouldnýt know the harsh, ascetic legacy of 20th-century modernism if it jumped up the wazoo.
A strong intertextual reading of *Reported Sightings* combined with Ashberyýs collected verse will permit us something of the strong Wildean vision of *The Critic As Artist*, where the vanished statues and apocalyptic chapel-ceilings of Renaissance boldness will be put to work alongside the chemo-industrial landscapes of cyberpunk-capitalism and the world philosophical cinema that lights up our pain fibers at the vanishing point of the man-made horizon, that renews the exploratorium of the Ruskinian and Paterian world-artist in the machine-environments forced on us by exponential cybernetic influx and 24-7 media spamming.....[pause for breath].
Or something to that effect. Lemme work on it. Meanwhile buy the book.

Book Description
A powerful story that unfolds in the red-light district of Calcutta: a photographer that becomes a teacher and the extraordinary children she meets who learn to dream with cameras in their hands. Accompanies an Academy Award-winning documentary.
Customer Reviews:
Through A Child's Eyes...Powerful PIctures.......2007-09-22
Born into Brothels shows what can happen when children in desperate circumstances are given the opportunity to talk about their lives by making pictures. The pictures that the young people make provide evidence that a camera in the hands of a child can be an empowering device that provide the voice that they might otherwise not have. A powerful testament to the power of photographs and the power of pictures.
Born into Brothels: Photographs by the Children or Calcutta.......2007-03-28
I bought this because I wanted to preserve my impressions after viewing the DVD. The DVD was exceptional as is the story of these children and how quick they were to pick up a camera and be able to do something with it. I'm still working on that. This is a nice companion to the DVD but if I had it to do over again I would probably pass.
Compelling.......2006-03-22
After watching the DVD and looking at this book, it has compelled me to take action... It's incredibly moving and very powerful!
A documentary of extraordinary children born into the most wretched of circumstances.......2005-12-10
Zana Briski came up with a unique idea. Give the children in Calcutta's red-light district their own cameras and let them take pictures of their lives. The result was a documentary of extraordinary children born into the most wretched of circumstances where the girls were destined to enter their mother's trade of prostitution and the boys would join related criminal enterprises. The award-winning film documentary has now produced a unique and extraordinary coffee-table book of photography showcasing Zana Briski's own work in collaboration with these children's photography over a period of seven years. This is also the story of how Briski began holding photography workshops to instruct these children in the basics of photography from lighting and composition to editing and narrative sequencing. Some of these children became so skilled and adept that their developed and developing photography skills could eventually be the source of their emancipation from the lowest rung of Calcutta social and cultural ladder. Highly recommended reading, "Born Into Brothels" would make a stellar addition to academic and community library Photography collections, Indian Studies reference shelves, and Women's Studies supplemental reading lists.
Rich in Color and Atmosphere Despite the Tragedy of the Theme.......2005-08-22
BORN INTO BROTHELS is a welcome addition to the books on color photography. Granted these shots are extracted from the award winning film, a feature documentary exploring the sad and at times sordid lives of these eight children born to prostitutes in the red light district of Calcutta, India. But what photographer Zana Briski has captured in richly brilliant colors is not focused on tragedy or the smarmy aspect of the places in which these children live. Instead she has found the beauty in the innocence of these children, living in a closed world without much hope of escape - except through the gracious ingenuity of Briski who held classes, teaching these children how to use the camera, offering a transient glimpse of a world they might never know.
The children are extraordinarily photogenic, but the dazzling colors of the cloths, jewels, streets, glitter and scents from the spices are palpable. This book stands alone on its merits of color photography: the fact that it holds the message it does makes it incredibly touching and unique. Highly recommended. Grady Harp, August 05

Customer Reviews:
An amazing collection!.......2007-02-04
If you have any interest in the artwork of Street Fighter, game character design, or game design artbooks, I think you will love this book. The artwork is amazing! I have been drawing and collecting Street Fighter artwork since I first played the game as a kid in the 90's. I have since stopped playing video and computer games completely, but I never completely stopped drawing these characters. This book was well worth the $18 I paid for it and I especially recommend it to artists (of any level) with an interest for game character design.
great book.......2006-11-10
it's mos def a must-have for any street fighter nut. there's concept art, character profiles, interviews with the creators and artists, all on silky glossy paper. however, it seems kinda rushed, there are SO many typos and errors and crap, but it isn't really that big a deal
recommended
street fighter like yee yee.......2006-09-25
this book is sick, no complaints whatsoever. it has everything you need to know about street fighter, yea there are some spelling errors and sum corny translations but its a small price to pay for such a good book, cop it and be happy u did.
Amazing, amazing, amazing art & info book!!!.......2006-07-26
This is a MUST for any hardcore Street Fighter fan. Tons of amazing art, which chronicles the entire series and loads of fun interviews just busting with behind the scenes info and reasons why characters were changed from version to version.
As for the book itself, it is of HIGH quality paper and is book bound. I have not seen the other version of this book also available on Amazon.com, but I can honestly say that this version is printed on nice thick paper (not sure just how thick, or what true diehard art fans consider nice paper) and makes all the art look really great.
Buy this now!! You will NOT be disappointed! ^_^
Get this Version Over the OTHER!!!.......2006-03-06
There are two different versions of the same book, same cover, and same paperback. difference is that the book listed in this page (released on October, 2005) is better than the other. Only reason is that the paper is heavy weight and not too soft.
The other book is the same thing but paper are way too thin, and to get something for the same price, it would be a no brainer to get the one with thicker and better paper. So get this one

Customer Reviews:
Dont GET THIS VERSION OF THE BOOK.......2006-03-06
first, i would like to say that this book is awesome.
However, there are two versions of this book. this version (published in January 2006) has thinner paper than the other. The other book has the same cover, same everything, BUT the quality of the pages being printed.
Bottomline: get the other book listed (which is published in October) over this one.
Freaking Awesome!.......2005-10-09
If you're a fan of Street Fighter then you have to have this book.
You get to see all the art probably ever professionally made for Street Fighter. You get to see how the series developed and the profiles of every Street Fighter character ever made. They give you an explanation on each Street Fighter game ever made. They even have a section with what each game case looked like and even different products, like statues and dolls, made for Street Fighter.
Get this book!!!! Or I'll Shoryuken you!
Back to the Street.......2005-08-22
This is a must have for anyone who loves Street Fighter. As the title implies this book showcases some seen and unseen art created over the years. The book covers Street Fighter, Street Fighter II and it's upgrades, Super Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alpha and Street Fighter III. Also included are character bios, interviews with artists & programmers, and articles on each Street Fighter game. The articles are a great read for those who want to know details like why Chun Li was given a fireball attack in SFII: Turbo and other cool trivia like that.
But the fun is in the art. Capcom has some of the greatest character designs in the world and Street Fighter is one of their greatest masterpieces. Who would've thought that a chinese girl with buns in her hair or some military dude with a "brush-cut" would become so iconic. It was also a hoot to see some of the art from the old strategy guides I used to read constantly until I perfected that special move. I could go on and on about Street Fighter but I won't (because there's not enough room). Overall, this is a nice hunk of nostalgia to have around and don't be surprised if you end up playing a Street Fighter game after reading this. I know I did. If the goal of this book was to reignite that spark between the player and the game then it has suceeded.
Good material on the inside but pales in comparison to Japanese version.......2005-08-03
So I own both this version and the Japanese version, and I must say, I like this book. The art is phenomenal. I only have a couple of complaints, and they wouldn't have really been complaints if I didn't own the Japanese version, too.
Firstly, the paper. They used magazine paper. BLARGH. I hate that kind of paper; it feels way too flimsy. The Japanese version has a nice heavy paper that feels solid (and isn't SEE-THROUGH).
Second, the font and layout used in the US version just seems less professional than the Japanese version. I don't really know how to explain it, but if you see the two, you'll see what I'm talking about. Especially in the titles of the interviews. They're in huge block fonts; some of the words with outlines, some without; in like 10 different colors. It really takes away from the aesthetics. I wish they were simpler and cleaner. To be fair, the Japanese uses big block text in the title of this same area, but the characters aren't outlined - the outlines are really a drawback for the US version, IMHO - and the overall layout of the title is just cleaner.
That being said, as its own book (not in comparison to the Japanese version), this is a great purchase for any Street Fighter fan. I would recommend it without reservation to anyone who likes some good ol' fashioned HA-DOU-KEN.
A must have for every SF fan!.......2005-06-09
This book was a really good buy; it's full of stunning artwork, interviews, and full of interesting SF info. It's a must for any SF fan. The only reason I gave this book four and not five stars is because it's not a hardcover book with thick premium quality pages (as you would expect from an artbook) but a softcover book with a thinner kind of pages. In its physical appearance the book is almost identical to your standard $14.99 Brady games strategy guide (quality wise). Apart from that the book is a great buy for everyone who is a fan of the reknown fighting game franchise.

Don't Bother Purchasing this Book.......2007-07-27
This book is a spoof on writing self-help books. The authors intend to be funny, but after a few pages the book becomes boring. There is no useful or helpful information in this book. If you are buying it to get information to help you write a self-help book, this book is a total waste of money. I can't believe I bought it!
Book Description
Now back in print, this heavily illustrated, richly anecdotal memoir takes a fond look back at Larry, the wild-haired funnyman who helped make the Three Stooges the most popular slapstick comedy team of all time.
Customer Reviews:
Larry The Stooge in the Middle.......2006-08-07
I was disappointed in this book. Have been a Three Stooges fan for many years but don't claim to be a expert on the subject. Found the book lacked any depth or insight on the person of Larry Fine (Feinberg). What was Larry really like? Did he simply enjoy a wager now and then or did he have a serious gambling addition? What was Moe Feinburg's relationship with his brother like? Toward the end of the book, Moe Feinberg flies out to Califorina to see his brother. He tells us that he hadn't seen Larry for 4 or 5 years. Why wait so long to visit your brother who is disabled with a stroke and in a nursing home (Motion Picture House adn Hospital in Woodlawn Hills)?
At best the book give us an outline of the history of the Three Stooges. I always wondered where Shemp entered and left the group. However, the book fails to critique the Three Stooges after the loss of Shemp. Neither Joe Besser or Joe DeRita fit the bill for a third stooge, though I'll admit that I think DeRita was definately the better of the two. Why they ever selected Besser as a third stooge would have been interesting to learn.
At the end of the book is a script of the Howard, Fine, and Howard evidently doing some early material. The written out text isn't remotely funny and does not do the Stooges justice. You have to see the Stooges in action to appreciate them. The last item in the book entitled "Cody & The Three Stooges by Jack Kerouac" adds no additional understanding Larry or the Stooges. Why this was added to the book makes no sense.
Recalling:Larry Fine by Moe Feinberg!.......2003-04-14
In this second biography of Larry Fine(The first book to recall Mr.Fine's life was:"A Stroke Of Luck!".Larry's memiors.Which are sadly out of print.)"Stooge In The Middle"looks at the life and career of one member of "The Three Stooges"from the viewpoint of Larry's brother former druggist:Dr.Morris Feinberg. The book looks at his childhood in Philadelphia,Pa.to the accident in his father's jewelry store that introduced him to violin playing lessions(an early form of physical thearpy).Which became his introduction to show business.First as a Charlie Chaplin imitator at local amusement Parks , as a member of a Duplicate version of Gus Edwards' vaudeville kiddie act:"Fun In Hi Skool!"and as a member of several comedy teams:EG:"Fine And Dandy"and "The Haney Sisters & Fine!".Before he married one of the Haney Sisters(Mabel Haney) and he was accepted a job as a performer and MC at The Rainbow Gardens Nightclub in Chicago,Ill in 1925.Where Larry first met:Ted Healy,Moe And Shemp Howard and he was invitied to join "Ted Healy And His Gang!"(The original name of Mr.Healy's act). The book goes onto to look at the boys'difficult relationship with Mr.Healy(Whose drinking, obnoxious pranks and his pay inequity forced the team to part company with Healy.Following some turbulent years working in vaudeville, burlesque, nightclubs,Broadway musicals and some work in the movies). The book relates how Larry almost signed the trio to a contract with Universal Pictures for some feature length comedies. But Moe's deal with Columbia Pictures was signed first.Making Larry's Pact with Universal invalid and The boys began their 24 years with The Studio that featured Hollywood's Stature Of Liberty like symbol. And their other projects that kept the team in the public eye after the unfair dismissal from Columbia Pictures and Larry's years of retirement, following the stroke that forced him to leave the group. For those..who want to read a pleasant and engaging biography of a truly funny and nice man. That has no hint of scathology in it? This is the one book to have.Kevin S.Butler.
The Unsung Stooge.......2002-09-01
Moe Howard often said that Larry was probably the best actor out of all the Stooges. Few can deny Larry was the unsung Stooge who never got much of the spotlight from Moe, Curly, et al. This book, written by Larry's younger brother, traces the natural born entertainer's life from birth until his tragic death. I wouldn't call this hard hitting, as the author was not a professinal writer but a loving brother, thus many of Larry's financial problems due to gambling are glossed over. But I can forgive that. In an era of trashy, tell all celebrity books, this is a breath of fresh air. It's a quick read and loaded with photographs spanning the entire Stooges' career. This is a must have for any Stooge fan.
My Favorite Stooge.......2001-12-27
I have been watching the stooges since the late 50's, and have always liked Larry. I enjoyed watching his reactions to different situations. This book is enjoyable and pretty informative to boot. Larrys little brother Morris gives an insiders view of Larry, from early childhood to his untimely death in 74. If you are a stooges fan, then definately get this book, you will not be sorry you did. It is a welcome addition to my stooges library. Quick reading and lots of pictures, plenty of information . A must read for all stooges fans.
The underappreciated stooge.......2001-06-07
Written by Larry's slightly younger brother, this book traces the middle stooge from birth, to his passing in 1974. By his late teens, Larry Fine never earned a living as anything but an entertainer. Naturally, the history of the act is covered along the way. Mr. Fineberg is not a professional writer, but can turn a phrase or two. The book serves as an excellent history lesson on the age of vaudeville as well, where the stooges got their start. Mr. Fineberg was very close to his famous brother and therefore has many anecdotes not heard elsewhere. First published in 1984, it's a quick and entertaining read.
Customer Reviews:
A wonderful book written about a wonderful man........2000-04-27
This book is very amusing and touching at the same time. It is written by Larry Fine's brother. It has very accurate information on him. It has great pictures of Larry both as a child and as an adult. Moe Feinberg has done an excellent job writing this book. A brother's insight on a person is always the best I think.

Book Description
Hailed by The Cult's Ian Astbury as "the biggest thing this century" when they exploded into existence in 1986, Zodiac Mindwarp And The Love Reaction were the most outrageous rock band on the planet, sex- and drug-driven metal mayhem drenched in leather, fur, and psychedelic swastika chic.
??
Zodiac and his cohorts-Cobalt Stargazer, Kid Chaos and Slam Thunderhide-were nothing less than the Four Rockmen of the Apocalypse, "storming the gates of Heaven on wheels made in Hell".
??
The Love Reaction were massively successful worldwide, and toured America, where they had a huge cult following, several times. Zodiac also wrote "Feed Your Frankenstein", a massive hit for Alice Cooper which was the main song in smash-hit movie Wayne's World.
??
Zodiac himself was incarnated by former comic illustrator and self-confessed acid casualty, Mark Manning. In FUCKED BY ROCK, Manning recalls astonishing, often shocking episodes and events from a decade of debauchery, derangement and brain-damaging excess. Illustrated throughout, FUCKED BY ROCK is the ultimate rock'n'roll testament, a scream from post-rock purgatory that will appeal not only to Zodiac Mindwarp's thousands of residual fans, but to anyone fascinated by the sex, drugs and mayhem of Rock n' Roll Babylon.
??
⢠Book launched in Los Angeles with a signing and one-off live concert performance by Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction (now including Alex James from Britpop superstars Blur).
??
⢠Book features an introduction by Bill Drummon of the KLF and K Foundation, whose own autobiography, 45, was recently published by Little Brown.
??
Mark Manning was the founder/singer/leader of Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction from 1986 onwards. He is now a full-time author whose published works include Crucify Me Again (Codex) and Get Your Cock Out (Attack! Books). He lives in London.

Customer Reviews:
Boring.......2007-04-05
I had hoped this book would have had great insights into a real rock band with great songs, but instead we get this lame repeating story about guys who (omigod!) have sex with girls! And it gets worse, sometimes they drink and even take drugs! In one crazy story, they went to a bar, and stayed really really late! It gets sad when you read on, how they love masturbating to porn. Picture the dumbest kid in high school trying to sound like he was older/mature.
As to the insights about their music and concerts, Mr. Manning claims he forgot all that stuff?
High Priest of High.......2006-01-07
Zodiac Mindwarp, circa 'High Priest Of Love' was/were awesome; that six track mini album contains at least five classic punk/metal tracks. Having seen them live just as they began to break into the big time ('86?), and still having the scars from that night to prove it (try falling backwards down the entire length of a tube station escalator and see how you fare!), I was more than a little intrigued to find out what the hell they were actually all about. This book is, as Drummond so accurately predicts in the intro, is full of bullet-proof prose. It is not for the faint-hearted or those easily shocked; being a tale of drink and drug fuelled debauchery, loaded with dark humour and insights into the realities of life on the rock n roll rollercoaster. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Zoddy's Mein Kampf.......2003-05-29
Sick, cynical, self-deprecating, smart, and hilarious. Pictures thrown in to boot! Okay, so maybe the plotline is a little blurry and the truth is stretched as taught as a my nerves on a narco hangover. None of this gets in the way of the laughs. Contrary to what Frau Clyde would have you believe, this is nothing like the tedious and sophmoric 'shock-by-design' offerings of Mr. Manson. Zodiac's Mein Kampf is witty, true-of-heart and at times
moralistic. Mandatory reading for those about to rock.
oh my..........2003-05-16
This is without doubt the worst book I have ever attempted to read...reminiscent of a five year old who has just learnt some neat swear words and is determined to upset its parents by using them as often as possible. I am reminded of the Onion headline about Marilyn Manson being reduced to going door-to-door trying to shock people.
Having said all that, I suppose you have to bear in mind that Zodiac Mindwarp is basically a cartoon character and that this book is nothing more than a ... spotty Englishman (Manning) living out in print the ... rock god fantasies which in real life he lacked the [gumption] to put into action. Not sure how funny [sexual] gags about ... kindergarden students (or whatever) are, though.
And having said THAT, I must admit that High Priest of Love is one of my all-time favorite records and any bitterness I have towards this book may stem from my learning that the creator of this skull-rattling dirty rock extravaganza was a mere pop journalist in drag...
Nevertheless, in my humble opinion, FBR is an absolute Barry Crocker of a book.
Plus, it's to thin and flimsy to use as a doorstop!
The Motley Crue book is far superior in every way and has the added advantage of being TRUE (I assume).
(The one star is for having what I must admit is an awesome title. Plus, you can't give no stars.)
completely politically incorrect and hysterical.......2002-06-24
I know I am supposed to be outraged as a woman and offended as a somewhat sensitive person but Zodiac's anticdotes of life on the road as a rock star were absolutely hilarious. Nobody but him would have the nerve to tell it exactly as it was without any shame. What a wild trip and what a decadent book. Like eating a bunch of chocolate and topping it off with a pint of tequilla while cranking your favorite heavy metal. Lighten up and you'll love this book.

THRIFTY GAMBLING.......2001-12-18
Very informative and easy to understand especially for a beginner like myself. Explained the different types of games and odds in an an easy to understand language. I felt more education the next time I played the slots.
"Thrifty Gambling" a great buy and a good bet.......2000-11-15
"Thrifty Gambling", by John G. Brokopp is a wonderfully written treatise on the field of gambling. There are charts, diagrams, statistics, and practical information that will save its readers money and their sanity. Many false premises concerning odds and your chance to win at a given game are laid out and explained. The term "thrifty" is well chosen and defined to give you the best play for your money. Games are defined, explained, and odds spelled out. This is a wonderful book to read and read again, and I bet you'll find your investment in the book will be well paid off with a better understanding of odds and better play for your money.

Awesome Book!.......2000-10-17
I never knew what I was up against when I played slots, but after reading Thrifty Gambling I found out the truth in plain, common sense language. I will still play slots, but thanks to Thrifty Gambling I am now an informed player. They used to be a mystery. Now I feel like I am in control of both the game and the money. Thrifty Gambling has changed the whole way I play and it's all for the better. I have read a lot of gambling books, but never one so informative with good common sense gambling techniques. An awesome, must buy book!

My New Favoriate Investing Book.......2007-03-31
I can't say enough good things about this book. I am a personal finance junkie and am really getting into watching my investments grow. I have finally found a book that suits me in every way. I love the idea of a good old lazy portfolio. It is what Warren Buffett has been doing for the last 50 years (Buy quality and hold forever). I have probably read about 40 books on personal finance and investing and this book is now number one on my list. I had a hard time putting this book down. It is very easy to understand for beginners and very motivational. If I could only own one book on investing, this would be it.
I get it!.......2007-03-05
What I got from this book is that investing the correct way is a long and very boring process. This guide breaks down the investing terminology so well that even the average joe can understand. Mr Farrell does a decent job at simplifying the process of investing.

Procrastinators Win With This Strategy.......2007-01-15
This was an excellent book. I have successfully used the strategies in my own investments throughout 2006. I have also applied the strategy to my 401k accounts. I enjoyed this book so much that I bought one for my son-in-law and another for my best friend as Christmas presents.
amusing, fluffy, not essential.......2006-02-23
I agree with reviewer "mthoran" on substance, although the book didn't raise my ire quite so much. It's an amusing, fluffy-light book, repetitious to a fault perhaps, but it does point the reader in the right directions.
Maybe the best recommendation is: don't buy the book, borrow it from the library or a friend, read it quickly (skimming a lot) and then move on to books with more substance.
At least it won't hurt you. There are many investing books that will.
If you're new to investing, avoid!!!.......2006-02-12
What is he talking about?! He assumes we all understand these "terms" already, without starting from the beginning. He starts off the intro telling us to sit and relax, enjoy this and that... 4 TIMES in a few pages. Then, he rips apart others who build up hype, which is exactly what he does. I'm glad this came from the library. This book was meant to be simple. It, like so many others, makes the reader feel stupid.
