Instigated by a conversation between Jens Hoffman and artist Carsten H ller after the opening of Documenta 11, this project provocatively questions the ever-amplified role of the curator, the value of the artist as curator, the future of international exhibitions, and many less easily summarized tangents. Exhibited virtually on the e-flux website, The Next Documenta Should be Curated by an Artist is really much more of a question than a statement, a question to which a dozen or so artists responded in a varied manner, including Marina Abramovic, Pawel Althamer, AA Bronson, Daniel Buren, Liam Gillick, Joseph Grigely, Alfredo Jaar, Ken Lum, John Miller, and Martha Rosler. Some offered considered expository positions and formal exhibition proposals, others contributed brief wit and poetic statements. On the whole, it's an experimental means of questioning a relevant topic through one of the most important exhibitions on the international scene.

A LITTLE TRITE AND MUNDANE BY TODAYS STANDARDS, BUT VERY INFORMATIONAL AND SEXY.

Wow. I was looking for a coffee table book for the bachlor pad I share with my roommates. Not wanting hardcore porn I thought Betty Page would be tasteful without being pretentious. In fact its perfect. Everyone loves it, and we don't come off as perverts. Oh, yeah. She looks amazing. The photos are stunning. A very few a bondage but mostly tongue in cheek. Highy recommended.

Not bad for BP fans.......2003-05-17

This book is a compilation of original Betty Page photos taken by Bunny Yeager. It's mostly pictures (all b&w), with some biographical sketches included. I have no idea if the text is accurate, but the pictures are pretty decent and certainly does justice to Betty Page's classicically sensual looks. Since these are just pictures of one photographer, you pretty much get only one particular style, and many of the pictures are beach shots. Given Betty Page's status in the American entertainment history, this is a good book to have.

Inaccurate in Details of Bettie's Life -- But Great Photos.......2002-02-14

This book has inaccuracies in its limited text. Bettie Page was not born in Kingsport Tennessee, but some 300 miles away in Nashville, Tennessee. Bettie's eyes were blue, not brown. Do not believe much of the text in this book as it is not endorsed by Bettie and contains much misinformation about her life.

However, if you want some great Bettie photos, this is the book to purchase! I much prefer her lighter fun photos to her Irving Klaw bondage photos.

SOME OF THE BEST BETTIE!.......2002-01-26

I fell in love or lust with Bettie when my hormones arrived about 1955. This book is well worth the price as Bunny's photos of Bettie are among the best. Bettie belonged outdoors! The Klaw photos are fine; it was hard to take a bad picture of Bettie, but she was,to me, the ultimate "beach brunette"! I recognize the problem with the book title, it leads you believe it's some kind of "Bettie expose'", but beyond that it's a great photo-record of some of Bettie's and Bunny's best work. If your a Bettie Page fan old or new, this one is a must!

this one is pretty much all about Mr. Butts, Doonesbury's answer to the times' obsession with smoking and kids who smoke. He was nothing more than a giant cigarette with an otherwise amiable face. He started out as a figment of Mike Doonesbury's imagination during his bout with smoking. This being turned into something much bigger as his friends Ms. N, a pack of nicotine gum - Mr. Jay, a weed smoke and Baby Tar, another smoke, came into being. I might add that Baby Tar is one of the worst rappers in the history of music.

To be honest, other things starring major Doonesbury characters happen in this piece, but the smoking stuff is all that really matters. And it's all the best.

Oh yeah, Duke gets wasted on booze and controlled substances while Honey stands by oblivious.

The moving picture, film, and television have exerted an unmatched influence throughout the 20th century, equally documenting and constructing our reality. The artists in CUt have taken the material of their reality--the movie and the news program--and manipulated it to reveal its power to communicate and shape reality. Sri Chinmoy explains the effects of soulful/spiritual music (secondary in significance only to meditation)in its importance to our conciousness and life. The knowledge revealed about music (and advise to musicians/artists) is priceless. The information conveyed can be equally applied to any creative endeavor (Art, writing, etc.), and mantra discussion in the book is an additional bonus.

Perfect for Elementary Kids.......2007-02-20

I am a USCF expert and have read many books on tactics. I have struggled trying to find a starter book on tactics for my elementary chess club students. Most books have problems that are too hard and text that is too long for 7-9 year olds and they only get frustrated. My second grade daughter (USCF 300) is able to pick this book up and read it by herself. After Simple Checkmates, by Gilliam, this should be the next book a young player reads.

Not pleased with the quality or quantity of the material in it.......2006-09-09

This is a very, very basic book on tactics. It is just ok for someone that has just learned how the pieces have moved.
I found that there was not enough examples of problems to make this book worth while. There explanations are not very good and not as clear as my other two chess books on tactics and traps in the opening (they all had a lot more material too). I felt that the diagrams were much bigger than they needed to be and that a lot of space was wasted on the pages. I have looked at the McKay Chess Library for Kids and they don't seem to have anything beyond super beginner stuff that is the same style.

Excellent Explanations and Examples of Basic Tactics.......2006-07-25

I own more than two hundred chess books and I've been teaching chess to kids in both public and private schools in California for ten years. In my opinion this book gives very clear explanations of the concepts behind many of the most basic chess tactics. Tactical puzzles are organized by theme so that the student can learn one type of tactic at a time. Games are included that show how the various tactics can arise from typical chess games played by kids. This book is not for students who are just learning how the pieces move, but it is an excellent work for students who have learned how the pieces move
and want to move on to the next level of chess. Another excellent work for that purpose is grandmaster Daniel King's book How To Win At Chess, The Ten Golden Rules.

Something Else - Very Sparce.......2006-04-22

This book is lame in my opinion because,
Number One - I found some mistakes in it that no writter or publisher should miss,
Number two - There isn't enough actual stuff in it. It will take someone in my grade who has learned to play no time to go through it and be bored stiff if he has been playing chess in the club at there school.
Number three - Overgrown sizes of diagrams just take up space. This book look like the company that published it got the material and had to make it BIG to make it into a book instead of a booklet.
Number four - Judge this book by its cover and you will not want it! I gave it away to a friend so I can beat him. Maybe not so nice, but this book actually teaches you some incorrect stuff!!! My other book by the David MaKay Library by another writer was very good, just not this one. So don't judge a book by its publisher, but by its author is my advice.

Can Something For Kids Be Better Written On Tactacis?.......2005-06-20

I was looking for some thing that would teach me tactics in openings or when I would be at any point of the game. I was very, very disapointed when I found this book didn't explain things very well.
Well here I go, one,two, three (I hope you give me a good review for being telling you as a 5th grader about writting a review because I am doing this review because I am in a summer scool class),
Number One Thing:
It does not tell almost every time were the person who made a mistake made it. I want this so I will not make the same mistake.
Number Two Thing:
I ran out of things to learn much. I wanted to see more stuff and things. The book is SKIPPY. It doesn't expain WHY!!!!
I want a book that TEACHES ME TACTICS, ESPECIALLY WHEN I START A GAME IN THE OPENINGS WHERE TRAPS ARE USED.

I don't know if McKenzie-Mohr coined the buzz-terms used in Community-based Social Marketing, but he covers them (at the introductory level) completely in this book. Case studies and personal experiences offer practical examples to the lingo commonly used in CBSM, plus plenty of articles are referenced for further reading. If you've heard about "Prompts" and "Norms" associated with CBSM and need to know what everyone's talking about, this is a great place to start.
