I first looked at this book in the library and then later put it on hold for the next available copy and it's going to take months before I get to read it again since there is such a long waiting list for the book. I think it is the best book I've seen so far on Marketing and Promotion for Photographers. Elysee Wiesberg what a gem you are for passing on this invaluable information! Good practical information and advice for the business side of photography. Glossy issue with great photos. I think I'm going to buy it since it will make a great reference book.

A Great Practical Guide.......2001-04-08

My voice teacher recommended Christy's "Expressive Singing" when I was studying opera. I found it helpful, although the photos were already dated. Recently I discovered "Foundations in Singing" in my public library. Impressed with its concepts, exercises, & approach, I puschased my own copy and use "Foundations" when I teach others. The cassette tape completes the set. My only reservation is the cost - ouch! Grudgingly, I must admit it was worth it to "bite the bullet" and buy the set. Hope this is helpful.

"My own voice teacher recommended Van Christy's "Expressive Singing" to me years ago when I was an opera student. It was most helpful. I must admit, however, "Foundations in Singing" is great for beginning students. I have elected to use it with my voice students. The cassette tape adds an additional dimension to the text: The demonstration of exercises is quite helpful. The song collection covers a wide range of styles and languages, while reinforcing the concepts in the text.

This is a clear, concise no-nonsense introduction for vocal students with a list of additional resources at the end of each of 12 chapters. It is supplemented by nearly 200 pages of wonderful, varied songs, many arranged for both high and low voice, with piano accompaniment. I've had lessons with a few teachers but this born to sing course coveres topics that none of the teachers covered. It made everything very clear and showed me exactly how to practice to get the most out of my voice. - Their video is really good too.

I printed a return label for this course within one hour of receiving it. The entire 2 CD set is basically one short stlye demonstration after another. Very boring and hard to listen to. Scales, pitch, intervals, and so on are not part of this course. The "book" is basically a 5X7 twenty page pamphlet that was stuck inside the CD case and of little value. Not what I was expecting and not what I'd call "Singing Lessons."

I've tried a few texts for teaching music fundamentals to non-music majors and this is one of the better books. I really like that the book starts with the keyboard as a visual representation of music theory. The book could use updated music excerpts/examples. Also- the fact that students tear out workbook pages renders the book invalid for buyback programs. A separate workbook would be a much better option for college use.

Gary White takes a different approach to learning the study of music, one which should serve as a model for other books of this type. Much more focus is pute on interaction and music-making (i.e., active, rather than passive learning). This can be used independently of a classroom experience, though it is intended for that situation, and works better when there is a teacher to clarify notational issues.

Great Book. A keeper........2007-05-30

I am still using the glossary to analyze current market situations even after reading the whole thing. I love schwager's books. The people who are disappointed with using TA are looking for the "holy grail system" of trading and are refusing to become better traders. I believe there is no such thing as a holy grail system, and if there is, its being used by institutions that you can't beat. You just need to learn everything. I would definitely recommend using the techniques in this book when checking out stocks and setting price targets planning entries / exits. The book helps you figure out possible risk/reward ratios when entering a trade and where to put your stops. Jack Schwager's books have done nothing but make me money so far and helped me become a better trader. I do realize you can't rely on TA alone to make your trades, but the amount of knowlege he wrote into this in the back of the book/glossary makes it a quick resource. His section on flags and banners is must read. I feel confident I can handle any stock situation, and thats the point of the book. My goal is to beat the market every month. So far I am up 15% this week after reading the book!

The book provides excellent technical analysis information for the selection and monitoring of equities and commodities. It is clear and separates the basics from the more detailed expansion of the analysis concept.

Excellent reading for a newcomer.......2006-04-25

As an experianced trader, I found this book very interesting and gave me a good overview of what technical analysis is. As the title suggests it is for beginners and gave me a good understanding with numerous examples to get the reader to understand the concept on his own. It would have been helpful to have the charts being discussed on the same page. Those expecting a detailed "recipie" on how to trade with technical analysis should not buy this book. As for technical analysis as a tool for trading I have always been a skeptic. This book has not changed my opinon on TA, but the book is an excellent reading.

Good Bargain.......2006-03-19

This book is a skimmed version of the author's more expensive and extensive book "Schwager on Futures, Technical Analysis". Even more, this book is updated? to stock markets. Really a good bargain and should be read even by traders at intermediate level.

Does not get you started in tehnical analysis.......2006-02-13

First of all, the name of this book is misleading - only the first part or about 1/3 of the book is actully about technical analysis. The other 2/3 are about different trading techniques, systems, tips, etc. Second, none of the topics discussed is covered in depth, I always have a feeling after reading a chapter to read a dedicated book on this topic. So I suggest to skip this book altogether and buy a "Bible" by Murthy or Pring which really explains all fine points of TA.
