Lacks Color Images.......2000-04-08

The narration of this book seemed to be very useful and well researched, however, even though a great number of her paintings where present throughout the book, I would have preferred them be in color instead of black and white illustrations. That was most disappointing.

It was the United States Department of Interior that commissioned Ansel Adams to document the country's national parks. Though the project was suspended after just one year because of World War II, Adams was still able to create quite a few astonishingly beautiful photographs of the American landscape. Arresting images of Yellowstone's geysers, the Grand Canyon's ravines, Glacier and Grand Teton national parks' mountains and the southwest's ancient adobes fill the book's pages. Anyone who doesn't know a lot about Ansel Adams but is interested in learning more about his work will appreciate and enjoy this cleverly organized pictorial. Structured by national parks, the reader will see many wonderful pictures, some classics, that will surely create a better impression as to what type of pictures Adams takes. A great gift book as well.

Wee, but Wonderful.......2000-04-05

This wee little book (4 inch by 4 inch format) dispels the notion that the work of Ansel Adams can only be appreciated in a coffee table book. Organized into 10 sections by location (Zion National Park, Yellowstone, etc.) and peoples (Native Americans and Their Lands), it shows Adams's work out west in our great national places like Grand Canyon and the Boulder Dam. The great appeal of this little book is that these fabulous black and white images retain their beauty and mystery even though reduced in size. I can, and I have, carried it with me throughout the house, or on a walk with the dog, or have thumbed through it while sipping a cup of coffee. It is well worn and well loved. And now I am going to order one for my cousin who will move out to Montana with her new husband.

This was a good book about a lady in her mid 30's dealing with the crisis of every day life. What makes this so funny is the reality in everything she does and the way we personally feel. The dog adds an even bigger touch to people who feel dogs are a good companion better than men sometimes

I haven't even read this book, but I know it's awesome b/c Molly is awesome! I can really say "I knew her when..." Viva la Videosmith!!!
I should also add that Molly is a very talented writer and a great lover of men and dogs. I'm sure the book is not only very entertaining but seriously well-written.

Good gift book, perfect for parties.......2004-12-20

This is such a cute and funny book and it really sucks you in. I bought a copy and brought it to a dinner at my parents' house. By the end of the night we determined that my boyfriend is a border terrier, my brother-in-law is a collie, my brother is a bull dog, and my father is a cocker spaniel. Two family friends in attendance turned out to be a dalmatian and a newfoundland. The breed descriptions are hilarious and right on target.

This is a great party book! It would be really fun for a bridal shower or bachelorette party.

One fun book!.......2004-12-20

I have a copy of Ms. Hewit's book and it's very fun. What I like best about the book is leaving it out. No matter what other books or magazines are on the table, it's the one book guests always go for and gets people laughing. The `Make Your Man Behave in 21 Days' book sounds like fun as well but seems to be more of a training book while the `Men are Dogs in the Best Sense' book is more of a guide to understanding which `breed' of man best suits you. I highly recommend this book.

Great page-turner, lots of laughs!.......2004-12-20

My boyfriend and I happened to be in this great little bookstore when the author was doing a book signing, and she read some of the book outloud and even called us up for a demonstration -- we got such a kick out of it, we bought a copy for us, and a couple extras for Christmas gifts. That night, we got under the covers and read the book - and had some great laughs! The book is filled with clever insights and quips .... very cute. You'll definitely get a kick out of it, whether you read it as a couple or by yourself.

These film essays look at documentary filmmaking and news reporting on the Vietnam War. I read this book as part of a film class at in college. This book is best for a person interested in the representation of war, especially this particularily divisive war will be moved by reading this book.

The Beatles quiz book is so fun to read! when i read something very shocking it keeps me hooked. Everything is very interesting and im nearly obsessed with the Beatles-Im huge fan. I didn't know much about the Beatles before I read the quiz book. It has very interesting and Detailed Qs and As. Michael J. Hockinson did did a great job. I ordered it as used and it was in a good condition. It's like reading the biography on The Beatles, but in very fun way. Any Beatles fan should order this-I highly recommend! XD

Ebooks not worth it.......2004-06-08

By the time I got the Mircosoft reader activated then activated the Pocket PC got the item downloaded I could not get help on how to get the ebook to the pocket PC. When I got it to the pocket pc it would not open It said "Microsoft Reader is no longer able to access the Book" Fine now What. You'll play hell tring to contact Amazon about it or a credit. And I can't afford the Mircosoft Help.

This book has so much more information about "The Beatles" than any others I've read... including The "NEW" Anthology!!! The author is obviously an "EXPERT" in all that is "Beatles". I pride myself as quite the Beatles aficionado, but this book is so far beyond anything I can relate to, it's not even funny. The amount of work that went into the creation of this book is simply mind boggling. Every Beatles fan on the planet should own this book. If you "think" you "know" The Beatles; this book will challange you beyond your wildest dreams. By far the "Best" resource ever written on "The Fab Four". This is an excellent resource to assist those of us who live in the United States to better understand and relate to individuals from other countries. Behaviors are very often driven by culture. I use this with Homestay families when I place students from other countries in their homes.

A Quick Reference on Cross Cultural Sensitivities.......2007-05-19

I run leadership programs for high potential Fortune 500 women in NYC, Boston and NJ and I meet so many talented men and women from Eastern Europe, Europe, South America, Asia, South America and even Iceland. This book gives me a quick reference on business culture, mores, traditions and social culture. I know these get out of date quickly but it's sure better than not knowing and allows you to be more responsive.

Dubious advice at best.......2007-04-25

I lived in South East Asia for nearly 12 years including over 8 of them in Indonesia. From tiny villages in Java with just under 30 families to the skyscrapers of Jakarta, running industrial projects and developing business. I even gained a native level fluency of the language.

At no time during that entire period did I EVER find an Indonesian who would hesitate to tell me "no". They can say it, do say, and even have a few different words for it. The only time I've ever seen someone suck air between their teeth is when they've eaten something really hot.

It's naive to think a single book or individual can cover the customs of 60 countries. Having spent considerable time in one geographic region with my feet on the ground for years in nearly a dozen countries, I couldn't even begin to start to explain the cultural traits and habits of maybe four or five of those countries.

Find yourself a real cultural etiquette book that focuses on the specific country you want to visit, and forget this superficial treatment that looks like a rehash of every other general cultural etiquette book I've ever read.

Another inaccuracy .......2007-03-30

Perhaps many of the people who are rating the book so highly did not take the "cultural IQ" quizzes. I took the one for Spain, a country I have visited. The answers were correct in identifying the Prado as being in Madrid, but the last time I visited the Alhambra, it was in Granada, not Toledo (where the book puts it). That's quite a distance to move a major cultural landmark!
