overpriced.......2005-06-15
Great book! Tons of info for tattoo newbies and proffesional artists alike but WAY over priced. Why pay so much for a used book when you can buy the book directly from the Huck Spaulding site for 45$ BRAND NEW!
Great for beginners.......2003-02-28
...--This book is geared to the beginner that has no expierance in Tattooing. It gives a lot of information that would otherwise take you a while to figure out. However a book does not take the place of a good insructor, find someone who is willing to give you hands on expieriance in the art of Tattooing. Also if you have been Tattooing for a while, and never had any real or formal training, you will find this book very helpful. But remember Tattooing is Medic-classified as Minor Skin Surgery, and you can really hurt somone if it is done incorrectly. Check out moderntattooscience.com for some info on tattooing.
Excellent Book, A Must For Beginners and Seasoned Artists.......1999-08-18
This book outlines everything from how to choose the correct equipment for you, to how to actually do a tattoo on somebody. Very detailed instructions and very informative. This book is definately a must for anybody and everybody who is wanting to learn how to tattoo. Even if you already know how to tattoo and have been doing so for years, you can't afford to be without this book. A definate must for anybody in the industry as well as those who are wanting to break into the industry and become successfull.
Clear,Concise,Detailed, and very informative.......1999-07-23
This is a must for new and old artists. Very detailed with a lot of illustrations and doesn't leave many questions in your mind-very thorough. The only two questions I had after reading were: Can you use grapefruit to practice tattooing on? Can you use alternative power supplies such as model train transformers? But the publishers being retailers of equipment might not want to suggest that or endorse using fruit to practice on. Great Book that covers every aspect of tattooing!!!!
very interesting and informative.......1999-06-15
i am from sydney, australia and i would like to know if this book is available to me over here?
i have enquired about having this book sent over to me but the shipping costs are more than the book itself.
could you please advise me of this thank you

Beware, Beginners, this book is extremely helpful but purchasing it here would be a devastation to your wallet. You can get this book for $40-$50 ordering directly from the author or practically anywhere else. Please, for godsake, do not buy it here!

Tattooing A to Z.......2002-03-14
This book was the best investment I ever made, concerning my buisness as a tattooist. It held vital information about the tattooing process. How to build tattoo guns from the ground up, and how to protect yourself as a tattoo artist legally. And thats only a small part of what this book contains. This book will deffinately stay in my library. And if something shuld happen to it. I WILL BUY ANOTHER ONE.
More like Tattooing A to C.......2001-06-28
Although the most technical "how to" tattoo book available, It still lacks much of the information needed. Hardly worth the ... price tag.

Fooled by the cover.......2007-08-05
I have purchased many exellent photo books through Amazon.
But this book is purely trash. The pictures are the kind you will find in german/english
page 3 newspapers.
Alle the pics are early 80's (book first published 1988), and this is clearly a poor
reprint, without much added in 2005.
If you like page 3 girls, ok. But if you are serious about glamour photography, stay away.
Good information... bad image examples!.......2007-08-03
Great information but at the price of some really bad images really keep this book from being a definitive source.
Outdated glamour.......2005-09-12
This book would have been a nice try about 25 years ago. Now it is outdated and oldfashioned. The genre has developed rapidly, and the 'glamour' of the 80's is not so glamorous any more. The pictures look aged, and, then, we have the digital world nowadays - just an information for the writer ;)
Canned , boring and not glamourous .......2005-02-16
First, the look inside on this website is not what is in this book,
but of another edition. The photos are so simplistic and boring.
.........................................................
..... Glamour?.. Def. of Glamour: An air of compelling charm, romance, and excitement, especially when delusively alluring. ........ This book has 95% nude women, many with their legs spread open, or breasts and crotch as the focul point. Photos a
15 year old boy would take and like or for men who see only this aspect of women.
The photos are of poor quality--primarily nude women done like simple snapshots of your wife with an adequate camera. If the women were clothed you would not think much of these photos. Not artistic or glamourous at all. The technical information is weak. A bunch of photos of breasts, butts and open crotch shots.
Pretty Badass.......2004-02-15
My main fascination with photography recently has been lighting, so before reading this book I decided to read "Lighting for Glamour Photography". I almost wish I had read this one first since it covers glamour lighting in great detail, plus a whole lot of other stuff.
I just finished reading it today, so it's still sinking in, but if you plan on taking beautiful pictures of women and taking it seriously, you pretty much have to read this book. It's a career's worth of experience in an easy to read book.
I've got to say though that some of the 80's style pictures are pretty laughable, especially the 80's sunglasses! Ironically, the author mentions how ludicrous things like sunglasses look when they go out of style!

Book Description
Somewhere, someone is having a perfect Christmas, filled with chestnuts roasting and sleigh bells ringing…
Screw ‘em.
Most of us are having just the opposite: a nutcrackin’ nightmare of anger, hurt feelings, evil in-laws, and carbs beyond counting. A time when grudges grow and gasses pass. A time of maxed-out credit cards and a ham that the vegetarians are ready to hurl through the frosty window.
It’s that holidays that we celebrate here.
Evil little brothers, pregnant tattooed sisters, horny dogs, and cross-dressing dads–they’re all here, ready to spread their Christmas cheer. So untangle the lights, spill some eggnog, and gather ‘round the place where happier families would have a piano. Now prepare to enjoy all the carols you love–with new lyrics you’ll love even more. “O Holy Fight,” “Silent Wife,” and “Grandpa Fell” (the ballad of Gramps and his bourbon, set to the tune of “Jingle Bells”). Yes, all your old favorites are here, with words that express, at last, the true sentiments of the season.
Remember: We wish you a Merry Christmas! But we can’t guarantee it.

Thanks, I Needed That!.......2006-01-01
This book massages every Christmas-induced ache. It's great to read sassy, spot-on lyrics that actually fit the music. I agree it's not for everyone, but this book is very funny!
REALLY FUNNY, BUT NOT FOR KIDS.......2005-11-11
The songs in this book are really funny, and I'm sure that many people will find it to be a welcome ice-breaker during family gatherings. However, due to some profanity and other issues expressed in the lyrics, it's not suitable for kids. In fact, I'm not sure I would share it with the adults in my family at Christmas. While my family loves this kind of humor, it's disappointing to see the use of profanity (and God's name being used in vain) in a book connected to Christmas. A gifted author can always find choice, unique words to achieve their goals; they don't have to resort to profanity to make a statement or get a laugh.
Just Like My Family Christmases...Only Funny!.......2004-12-23
I thought this was such a great idea for a book, but I wasn't sure how it would sound to actually sing the songs. If you can get through them without laughing, you're doing better than I did! Really, Really fun for the whole...Okay, for MOST of the family!
I saw a concert in New York that featured opera singers singing these songs, and that convinced me to buy the book for my family sing along. Loads of fun.
Just okay.......2004-12-14
I read Lenore Skenazy's column in the NY Daily News; although she's no Dave Barry, she's fairly clever. Out of 19 songs I really only laughed out loud to 3 or 4. But for less than ten dollars, it's a good deal if you want to have a few chuckles over Christmas dinner.
Hilarious, if R-rated, parodies.......2004-12-02
Every time I pick up this book, I laugh myself silly at the inventive and sometimes painfully true lyrics: "We must have a perfect Christmas"; "O, what a fight, the fists were really flying..."; "Silent wife, angry wife..."; "Away in a manger, is that where you dressed?" and more. And surprisingly, the simple piano accompaniment is not bad at all.
Call me over-protective, but this is not humor I intend to share with the younger ones. "Whose Child Is This?" and "Here I Come A-Borrowing" make me laugh hard, and the parodies do not diminish the beauty of the original carols for me. But I wonder how the originals might survive in young minds after learning these very funny, but sometimes racy lyrics. And I am not too keen on answering, in the setting of the holidays, some of the questions that this content would probably provoke.
Not all jokes I hear or tell are suitable for youngsters, nor do I think they have to be. Taken as grown-up humor, this little book is a marvelously effective antidote to the saccharine airs wafting through this "most wonderful time of the year".
Book Description
William Gaines, a two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting, uses a case history approach for easy understanding of simple and complex investigations. Gaines has created fictional reporters who are followed in each step of their investigations and their careers in newspapers and television. Utilizing instructional text, case histories, and analysis of important published investigatvie stories such as the Watergate investigation by the Washington Post, the book explains how reporters get story ideas and follow them through to production. The roles of government and business in society and their interrelationships are clearly defined and examined. Investigative stories include government waste, public and private fraud and corruption, and consumer problems.

Fantastic book........1999-06-26
Easy to read and understand. My bridge teacher uses only books by Shirley Silverman and she is terrific! Our class uses the book all the time when we play foursomes at home....we do allow one another to use the book while we are learning and playing.
Book Description
Advance praise for Developing Products in Half the Time Second Edition New Rules, New Tools Preston G. Smith * Donald G. Reinertsen "This is an exceptional book! Get a new highlighter before you start. There are so many 'ah ha's' in each chapter you will never make it through with an old one." Don LaCombe, Ford Motor Company, Product Development Process Leadership "An excellent book with a strong treatment of the cycle-time consequences of overloading your development capacity. It provides powerful and practical concepts for dealing with this issue." Andrew Aquart, Director Product Development, Cordis, a Johnson & Johnson Company "This is practical, useful stuff for people competing in highly competitive fast moving business." Dr. Paul Borrill, Chief Scientist, Sun Microsystems "3M has absorbed many of the tools from the original edition, and this new one will be even more useful. The topic of incremental innovation is crucial to us, and I really appreciate its balanced treatment." Ronald H. Kubinski, Manager New Product Commercialization Services, 3M Company "As the authors correctly point out, the Fuzzy Front End is the least expensive place to reduce cycle time. This book is one of the only sources of concepts, methods, and metrics for compressing this critical portion of the development process." David M. Lewis, Product Manager, Eastman Kodak Co. "Using these tools we've more than cut our time to market in half. The new edition of this classic crystallizes the synergy of the fast-to-market techniques, and the icons in the margins highlight the opportunities and pitfalls." Mike Brennan , Vice President of Product Development, Black & Decker
Customer Reviews:
Useful tools for shortening development time.......2007-08-27
"Developing products in half the time" is a collection of tools and practices that can be used to speed up the release of your new products. The book provides a well-balanced view on how to cut the development time and especially what the trade-off is that you will probably make. Many of the tools and practice are only touched upon and would require a book on its own.
Preston Smith and Donald Reinertsen start the book by tackling some important misconceptions about fast development. Their opinion is that it's not per definition good and you really need to have a good reason to speed up the development. They continue this theme in their second chapter which gives a basic financial model that they will use during the rest of the book. It explains what trade-off will be made when saving time in a particular way. The rest of the book provides practices to save development time: starting with "the fuzzy front end". In power of incremental innovation they argue that most products can probably be developed incrementally, which reduces development time and risk a lot.
Chapter 7 and 8 are key to the book, they provide motivation for using cross-functional development teams. How to create these, how do they fit within the organization and where should you locate them. This concept is repeated probably most throughout the book.
Developing in half time is an excellent read. It's full of small ideas which can help your development process to deliver faster and explains the trade-offs well. The only criticism to this book would be that all topics are discussed only shortly. Recommended reading.
Also for a Service Organization!.......2006-11-27
A comprehensive approach to Product development and lot of advices that can be used also in a Service Environment like my own; the best book on the subject of speed to market. I still continue to suggest it as a reading to my collegues and to the students in my teachings. I also strongly recommend the Reinertsen book "The Design Factory" and I am waiting for a sequel on Lean Product Development.
THE book about product development .......2005-10-20
This book giver clear insights about product development in general. What amazed me when I read the first edition is that agile software development methodologies are clearly aligned with these book findings. Preston Smith and Reinertsen did an excellent job and succeded to create a better book in this new edition!
Keep an eye open specially to the tools listed below(number is the corresponding chapter) and watch the link with agile processes:
2. Putting a Price Tag on Time --> how to convince upper management to do small releases and work in an iterative and incremental mindset.
4. The Power and Pitfalls of Incremental Innovation --> Why to be agile and how to mitigate risks described in the disadvantages section.
5. Capturing Customer Needs --> Why to work jointly with all stakeholders and stay focused in minimal and iterative specifications.
6. Using System Design to Compress Schedules --> Why software architecture is an important activity and why projects must be planned based on architecture.
8. Organizing for Communication --> Why Co-location brings benefits most of the times.
10. Controlling the Process --> why insitute essential metrics and which are these. Aligned with information radiators practice of agile software development teams.
11. Preventing Overloads --> One of the best in the set. With great empirical evidence the authors explain why most managers do the wrong thing and try to mantain 100% people allocation. In this chapter he gives light to why is not a good thing to split people between various projects and what to do: control the project list religiously! The agile methodologies also say: Control the feature list of each project religiously :-) !
Read this book, if you want to understand why agile and iterative development processes are the way to build most software products out there!
Lightweight Chat about New product Development.......2004-10-04
Using this text to teach MBA students about new product development.
Probably the worst text I've encountered for a course, never mind lacking useful information for guiding managers in this field.
Incrediably lightweight with passing comments about rigorous engineering tools, and of little use to anyone to actually do anything relating to creativity, innovation or technology commercialization. Pick up something like Ulrich/Eppingers's "Product Design and Development" for a much more thorough and useful approach.
Excellent must-read for senior managers.......2002-01-05
I found that this book was packed full of common sense, which is rare in a development management book. Although it has a lot of examples of manufacturing of phsyical goods, I found it great as a software manager. There aren't many spare words in this book, either -- it's terse and well edited, so you get the raw facts and the necessary stories to back them up, but not a lot (or any, really) fluff.
I am putting it on my bookshelf for software engineers, right next to Writing Solid Code and Debugging the Development Process, two classics for software engineers and team leads, respectively.
