Book Description
Jacques Cousteau explored the oceans' deepest fathoms. The crew of the space shuttle punched through the Earth's atmosphere and into a space of infinite dimensions. Possessed with the same spirit, France Bourély takes readers on a breathtaking visual odyssey far beyond the reaches of the naked eye with her scanning electron microscope. She travels lunar landscapes on the back of an ant, explores secret valleys in orchid petals, scales the pistils of a daisy, crosses mountains made of pollen, discovers crevices on the back of a caterpillar, and takes shelter under a bush of bristles.
France Bourély can be described as a philosopher, a scientist, an artist, and a navigator all at once. This amazing book opens the door to a hidden paradise, revealing the visual virtuosity and the startling beauty of the microscopic dimension that surrounds us all. By transporting us to the lands of the unseen, Bourély seeks to awaken our senses and transform the way we perceive our infinitely complex and always harmonious universe.
Customer Reviews:
Stunning + Inspiring.......2003-09-04
Talking a tour through this book is every bit as exciting as exploring new realms. Ms. Bourley had carefully considered her career options and among them were astronaut. Then her focus (literally!) took an unexpected turn. She discovered the depths in the ordinary that surround us. Her travels far, far into inner worlds are amazing and truly uplifting. To see the symmetry and beauty of such teensy tiny wholly seperate beings and things is to speak to the wondrous possibilities of the simple (and even inspirational) joys in seeing not totally unfamiliar patterning on such a miniscule scale. I come away thinking "everything is significant.". The calm in that is worth the price of admission. Along the same lines is a movie entitled "Microcosms". I suggest you look for it. You'll like that, too.
Stunning, Visionary Book!.......2003-01-31
As a physicist (by profession), and amateur photographer (in my free time) I must say that I have *never* encountered a finer example of a synergy of art and science (not to mention philosophy) displayed than what awaits the lucky reader who purchases this extraordinary book. Some of the images, on a purely aesthetic level, rank (in my humble opinion) with some of the great abstract photographs that have **ever** been taken! Indeed, I am tempted to equate what Dr. Bourely has accomplished here to what Ansel Adams accomplished for the American West with his magnificent large format photography. What Adams represents for the macroscopic world, Dr. Bourely represents for the microscopic one. She is *that* good...as a guide, as a scientist, as photographer, and as a visionary.
Quite simply this is one of the most beautiful books I've ever had the pleasure of owning and I shall treasure it for a long, long time to come. If you love photography, or science, or abstraction, or philosophy, or ever simply marvel at the ineffable mystery we call the universe, you owe it to yourself to get this book. It is destined to be a classic.

Book Description
How to double-cross Hollywood as an artist? This first monograph on British artist Douglas Gordon analyses all of the artist's video projection installations that are based on his appropriations of Hollywood film noir or Hitchcock films, examining Gordon's language works as well. Counter to the usual interpretations of Gordon's work as a dichotomy between good and evil, Double-Cross argues that his work is all about dissemblance, with the dichotomy only one deception among others. It also argues that, with the inaugural separation of the components of sound and image in his work, one of the artist's disguises is that of an author. All the fragments of the artist's work--projections, language works, photography--add up to the production of a criminal author. His final disguise is that of an experimental filmmaker whose subject is not the film noir themes of trust, guilt, fate, and the madness of the double that appear as the content of his work, but the temporality of the spectator's engagement.
Book Description
Since the earliest days of the music business more than a century ago, record labels have come and gone, been taken over or merged. Some have been owned by retailers, DJs, agents, and managers, others by individual artists or groups or vast media and electronics conglomerates. For many fans, a symphony or song on the "right" label is almost as important as the artist recording it. From classical to soul, jazz to rock, folk to rap, every record label has a story to tell. Those stories are collected here along with details about the labels' founders, artists, and corporate backers providing a fascinating insight into one of the most important aspects of the history of popular music. Covering every major record label from A&M Records to Motown to ZTT, this historical guide is illustrated in full color.
Customer Reviews:

Customer Reviews:
Encouraging. .......2007-05-09
This book was encouraging. It did answer a lot of my questions about record labels. I still think I am going to stay indie because there is just as much money to make this way.
Good.......2006-05-16
An almost complete and well written guide explaining the steps that a struggling musician has to take to ensure success in the record business. You'll find everything here starting from your first contract to the first live shows. A better book that explains exactly the same principles in a more intuitive and easy to understand matter is "The Music Business: How You Can Make $500,000.00 (or More) a Year in the Music Industry by Doing It Yourself! Volume II" By Ty Cohen, . You'll find here testimonies and examples based on the evolution of real companies
Powerful!.......2002-05-25
Daylle's books are a wealth of information for the artist who is serious about their craft and wants to make a living from it. As I've stated before she makes daunting tasks seem achievable and her real life experience is absolutely encouraging and inspirational.
My music biz bible!.......2000-09-05
This book is the best I've read on how to get a record deal. Actually, there are no other books out specifically on this topic. Ms. Schwartz has organized a lot of great information into a concise book. She includes lots of specific things that are common sense but we still don't remember to do. I've read it twice already, there's so much info packed into each chapter. I'm putting out my own CD and the info in the Real Deal was very relevant since I'm trying to get a distribution deal. It's also great for artist development. I read her other book, Start & Run Your Own Record Label and got just as much out of this one. They have different info - she didn't rehash much so you have to read both. The Real Deal is the real deal - she tells how hard it is to get a deal. But it offers lots of motivation and a good spiritual attitude. Thank you Daylle Deanna Schwartz for writing such informative books!
An Essential Guide for All Musicians.......2000-08-18
As a former recording artist turned entertainment lawyer, I highly recommend this book! This is a great basic guide for new musicians (and their managers) who are learning their way around the record industry. It is detailed yet infinitely readable. It is a good reference guide to the ins and outs of getting a record deal - and has other valuable information about the inner workings and politics of getting signed.

Many Valuable Tips Inside!!.......2002-04-06
This is one of two strategy guides I used to play this game. Initially, I was a little lost trying to match the information in the first chapter of the "Walkthrough Section" of the book to the game I saw in front of me. It leads you to believe that the "DK Isles" area is the first area to tackle but much of this area is inaccessible to you until much later in the game. If you skip that section and begin with the "Jungle Japes" section you'll be starting where the game begins and the information is very helpful from there.
This guide is especially helpful with the two "arcade" style games that you will encounter during the adventure. Winning these games will give you two unique coins that are vital to gaining access to the final area of the game. Details of how each of these games look and what must be accomplished will help anyone not familiar with these original 1980's games. My huge disadvantage from having never played either of these games was lessened by these instructions.
The other guide I used was "Donkey Kong 64 Official Strategy Guide" by Bradygames. It's definitely worth taking a look at too. Both books were invaluable to me for different reasons. Together, they helped make my game experience much more enjoyable by clarifying details I would have missed on my own.
Best Book Out There.......2000-12-22
Prima has out done itself this time. With all the maps as to where each Golden Banana is or where each Banana Fairy may be hiding, this book clearly tells all you need to know. With detailed guides and maps for each of the characters, this book is one of the most helpful that I have ever used.
Prima's Official Strategy Guide for Donkey Kong64.......2000-02-23
It is the BEST STRATEGY GUIDE YOU CAN GET FOR DONKEY KONG!It has the most pages then any other Donkey Kong Strategy Guide! It has all the information you want about the game! This is the ULTIMATE STRATEGY GUIDE for this game! Trust me.Buy it yourself and one will find that it is THE GREATEST GUIDE FOR THE GAME!
If you are confused about all the bad ratings, read this!.......2000-01-09
Ok, All prima guides are a little hard to understand. these facts are: undetailed maps (what are we, 5 year olds? if you can read the maps, go for it.) Information sometimes typoed and unorganized. (In the Jet Force Gemini guide, it looks like is is messed up, look for the white lines, as for typos, people like these critics can report it, and Prima will change it.) See? this guide is also intended for slightly advanced readers. if you do not like this book, look at the Nintendo version of the strategy guide.

Grate Stratagy Guide But A Few Falts.......2003-06-29
This is a very good guide in that it goes through details of how to get most golden bannanas and most metals. Yet it has falts. For example, the maps are no good do to the fact that there is no way to tell how to get from one place to another50. Also the other stratagy guide that someone else mentioned is a lot sturdier. I mean even if your as gentel as beep the pages will rip out of this stratagy guide. Finally in order to recieve a metal to let you fight K. Rool you have to beat this old fashion Donkey Kong arcade game twice. Though this guide mentions the game it dosen't explain how to beet level 3 of 4 well enough. Other than that it's a pretty good stratagy guide.

Very, Very Helpful Guide!.......2002-04-06
This is one of two strategy guides I used to play this delightful game. There are strengths and weaknesses in both. This guide is particularly helpful in guiding you step by step through each area to accomplish all of the goals and challenges. It is most helpful because it takes you through each area in an order that is the most efficient and the least confusing.
Initially, you have to acquire each Kong family member by rescuing them in a particular order and this guide takes you through those steps. Once you have acquired all of your characters, it later becomes necessary to use one Kong member before another or in a particular order. This guide gives the order they recommend and the reason why.
Of particular interest to me was the information regarding how to gain a third melon (your life meter in this game). Not being an experienced video gamer, I needed all the help and chances I could get. This information gave me hope that I could get that extra cushion (about a third into the game) so I would not have to keep replaying certain parts over and over again.
The maps were not as clear or helpful as they were in the other guide I used which was "Donkey Kong 64: Prima's Official Strategy Guide". (See my other review on it) For me, having the best of both of these books, greatly enhanced my game experience.
The Gateway.......2001-06-22
I call this guide the gateway because it has helped me so much. It tells you all you need to know plus it comes with a poster how good is that.
this works on so many levels.......2001-04-27
the Golden Banana? the American Dream? is anyone seeing the connection? this is social allegory at its finest. Schmidt and Bogenn play upon the secret hope of all of us, to find the "strategy guide" that will impart upon us the "surefire trick" to "defeat the boss" and attain the "Golden Banana." ....... Written under Marx's ideological wing, this guide teaches that EVERYONE can use these techniques, and WE ALL can "beat the game." The only obstacles are the bosses and their minions (the capitalists and the police that exist to protect their property), and that there are enough bananas for every proletarian monkey to be satisfied if only they learn to work together.
Book Description
In order to ensure future success, financial advisors must find a way to compete for one of the fastest-growing segments of the investing population - the affluent.
Stephen D. Gresham and Evan Cooper, authors of Attract and Retain the Affluent Investor, show readers that by adapting current methods and learning how to provide a richer level of service, financial advisors will be able to capitalize on this opportunity and create greater client satisfaction.
Customer Reviews:
Disappointing.......2007-03-29
I was very hopeful when I received this book, as I enjoy the author's articles. However, in my opinion, this book has very little to offer.
The problem with most books for financial advisors is that there is very little depth. Most books are just a set up for further services - buy my coaching or buy my system. However, the best of books still have some real meat to them, something you can take away from the book and put to use right away. The best books have something that you haven't considered before, and you can take action on.
This book is not a book with real meat. Sure, it has ideas about working with the affluent - but its just a rehash of every other financial planning/working with the affluent book that is out there. To be sure, if you are reading your first book on the profession, this wouldn't be bad. But I cannot think of a single new idea I found in this book, and there was no compelling reason to take action on anything (as I have seen it all before, and have already done most of it).
Again, if this is your first book on marketing to wealth & affluence, its probably not a bad choice. But I certainly expected more from it.
Steve knows his subject cold.......2002-11-09
Steve Gresham has created a blueprint for the experienced Investment Management Consultant or Wealth Management Advisor to follow and propser from. His examples are clear and concise, his guidance has stood the test of time.
Any advisor who thinks she or he can properly advise 300 or 400 clients will come away from this book with a career altering experience.Steve shows what is important to the business owner as opposed to what the advisor may think is important.
Kudo's to Steve and Evan. Job superbly well done !
Straight Talk.......2001-08-16
There are two words missing from the beginning of this book's title..which should be "How to Attract and Retain the Affluent Investor[etc.]." Gresham and Cooper take a very forthright approach to their topic, and use modern [no, not distracting!] graphics to get their points across. Relevant "case studies" make up much of the text, with messages reinforced by way of checklists, boxes, and short paragraphs titled "Winning Tactics." There are lots of advice books around for financial advisors. This one's great for people who think they're too busy to read. You can read it through or open it almost anywhere, and learn something. What's more, the authors have come up with answers to questions you didn't even know you had!
A Wealth Advisor's Must Read!.......2001-06-11
Steve Gresham has really captured the information necessary to be successful in the ever changing financial services industry. He shares with you successful ideas from some of the industries most successful consultants and advisers. In addition, he tells you how to re-evaluate your business and assists directing you toward becoming very successful.
Steve demonstrates his indepth knowledge and expertice in the industry through all of the information provided in this book. If you are going to be successful as a "Wealth Advisor"in the financial services industry, this book is a must read!
