Book Description

This trend is mirrored in the wedding photography business, where photographers are now being chosen for their high-quality, artful black-and-white photography with only some color photography being requested. To cash in on this trend, the successful photographer needs to deliver the classic look today's brides and grooms want in both posed and photojournalistic styles. And it's often accomplished with black-and-white photography that is elegant and timeless. In this valuable guide, a leading wedding photographer demonstrates, step by step, how to produce memorable elegant black-and-white wedding photography that sells. From basic technique, philosophy, and practice to style, procedure, and business concerns, readers will see how to master this latest facet in the art of wedding photography. Brimming with lush examples from the author's own work, this is the must-have A-Z reference for anyone interested in creating stylish, sophisticated wedding photos that will be treasured for a lifetime.
Customer Reviews:
New at Wedding Photography.......2007-05-14
I'm just starting out in wedding photography and I was taken to a wedding with another photographer to learn the ropes. There was alot of good info in this book, but it seems to be overkill in some areas. I've talked to other wedding photographers and none of them take a whole set of studio lights with them. The author seems to be doing a lot of elite weddings that I will probably never do.
B&W Wedding Guide.......2006-04-03
The author has created a very comprehensive wedding photography book that takes you through all aspects of the wedding day. There is also considerable information about products to offer and dealing with Brides and Grooms.
The photos shown are very natural in appearance and there is a lot of quality photojournalistic images throughout. Probably the image I liked the least is the one on the cover. This picture seems 'forced' at best. I have known a Bride to extend her arms out like that - especially with a decorative fan in one hand and her boquet in the other. I got past the cover to find the gems inside. You will too!
one of the best.......2003-11-19
This is one of the best new books on the market regarding the subject of wedding photography. If you are serious about learning the art of wedding photography, this book is a "must have". There are so many books out there on this subject, and so many of them are not worth reading. This book is a delightful exception.
A misnomer, but still worth it.......2003-05-28
That this book is about black and white photography and just black and white photography is a misnomer. While all the pictures are in black and white (either reproduced from color or shot in black and white), the book is encyclopediac in scope, covering the entire field of wedding photography by a highly-successful photographer who has been in the game a long time. If you want to know how a top-flight wedding photographer shoots the most fashionable weddings, read this book. She tells how she puts all of her $30,000+ worth of equipment she takes to a wedding to use. Her style is not very very exciting, but it is business-like. If you want information, it is here.
Book Description
It's hard to believe that Cathy has entertained us for a quarter-century. She's like a longtime friend who shares the same fears and frustrations as most women: the frightening sight of too-tight swimsuits in a dressing room mirror, the relentless call of the refrigerator, and men who are never quite right. In honor of Cathy's 25th anniversary, we present four gift books on Cathy's most popular subjects: Food, Love, Mom, and Work. This is a cartoon soul mate, who stresses over the four basic guilt groups-Cathy's seventy million readers of the nearly 1,500 newspapers in which she appears will find comfort, solace, and lots of laughs.
Book Description
*Too lazy to drive to his girlfriend's house, a man ties helium balloons to a lawn chair--and ends up at 15,000 feet, closing the L. A. airport.
*A Chinese contraception program causes the birth rate to rise when men are discovered taking birth control pills and unrolling condoms over their fingers--exactly as shown in the training film.
*A gang of Norwegian thieves carefully uses explosives to open a safe--only to find the safe is filled with dynamite. . .
In the national bestseller The 776 Stupidest Things Ever Said--over 200,000 copies in print--Ross and Kathryn Petras immortalized idiotic utterances by public figures and average citizens alike. But what about the doers out there, the people who didn't stop at speaking, but went right out and did something stupid instead?
It's time to give credit where credit is due.
The 176 Stupidest Things Ever Done is a hilarious collection of inane incidents, senseless stunts, farcical feats, and utterly asinine activities from throughout history, and around the globe. From Sam Goldwyn to Walter Mondale, Albert Einstein to Fabio, the board of General Motors to British Parliament, this comic compendium chronicles the stupidest acts, ideas, decisions, inventions, songs, and ad campaigns that the mind of modern man has been able to devise.
The 176 Stupidest Things Ever Done is a non-stop barrage of belly laughs, conclusive proof that actions speak louder--and funnier--than words.

Average.......2004-06-20
Page 75 is one of my favorites from the book. Maybe it's because it's so close to home. It just appeals to me that the Board of Education would hold a secret meeting to decide if secret meetings were permissable. :)
My only complaint with this silly book is that I would have liked more (okay -- all) of the stories cited.
If you need a good laugh just open this book to any page!.......2001-07-22
This book had the non-reader in my family happily reading and then reading aloud to the rest of us, relating the stories he was laughing about.
By the end of the day everyone in our family had heard or read every single page of the book!
If you need to tickle your funny bone or want to tickle the funny bone of someone else...this will do it. If you want to entice someone to read who says "I don't enjoy reading", they will enjoy reading this!
The book contains some stories that are not appropriate for children...probably would rate a PG13 if it were a movie.
Incredible!.......2000-06-12
This is one of those books that makes you look up and think "Is this real?" I guess I have to suspend disbelief for a while cause this book is hilarious! Check it out!
Very stupid and very funny.......2000-01-15
The title says it all. This has to be the stupidest book I've ever read but also one of the funniest. I couldn't believe how stupid these things are, and I laughed my head off. As you might expect, this book is a great "bathroom book" as they're called. It's great to dip into for a few quick laughs. I gave it as a "grab-bag" gift this Christmas to some people in the office since I knew they would get a laugh out of it. I am sure they did!
This is a must buy!!!!!!.......1999-07-17
This is an incredibly funny book full of hillarious short stories. No Attention Span Requiried! It's and incredible funny book, and it's even funner to see if you know anybody personally who's in it.

Animation is Alive and Well, Thank You!.......2005-01-30
If you are curious about the state of international animation, purchase of copy of "2D and Beyond". It was through this book that I first learned about the likes of Michel Ocelot, Daniel Greaves, Wendy Tilby, Koji Morimoto and others. The still frames are marvelous, the production sketches are fantastic, and the articles really bring the reader closer to the featured animators.
These fabulous animators deserve greater exposure. Since I've read this book, I've sought out every opportunity to see the work of these artists. The introduction mentions that this book is the first in a series. If that's so, I eagerly await the upcoming volumes. My only request: please include a DVD of the short films!
If you purchase and enjoy the book as much as I did, check out "Animation Now!" - a more recent text which does include a DVD with brief clips of a few of these works.
fresh review for wonderful art.......2002-01-30
This first book of new series bring me a fresh new world about animation. The artists introduced in this book must be the most creative ones. Under this impression,I will highly expect the next book of this series.

Customer Reviews:
Good historical value........2003-01-05
At the time it was first published, this book gave the bard class much to use. More so than the others in the "Complete" series, the kits are actually new character classes that just call themselves bards.
However, this book does not translate very well into d20, although it should provide inspiration for new prestige classes.
A must for all role players.......2000-08-08
This book not only has great kits, it also has some very helpful charts in it concerning the off-combat role playing of the Bard. There is a table for legend lore rolls, money made playing in taverns, reputation and what kind of followers you can have. The kits are astounding and they really explore how far the rules let you go with the Bard. I am a musician in real life and playing the Bard with this book in hand makes D & D so much fun. I recommend this book to DM and player alike.
Bests Kits of any of the Handbook Supplements.......2000-07-11
I recommend this book highly if you use kits. I have several of the handbooks and this one truly has the best kits of any of them. My players use to never play bards, but after getting this book we always have one in our groups.
If you don't like kits this book proably isn't for you. However, it does have a good chapter on roleplaying bards as well as optional rules for a reputation system that is pretty interesting. There is a section on music which has a list of instruments with pictures and short descriptions. There is also a couple of new proficiencies, spells, magic items; however, I didn't find these particularly useful.
Gotta Love It.......2000-06-13
This book is probably the most useful book out of the ..... handbooks. If you were to create a Bard, which I would prefer, this book tells you about amazing kits, out of this world special abilities with magical weapons, spells, and more. I hope this would be of good use to you.
ANOTHER DISAPOINTMENT FROM THE 2ND EDITION OF D&D.......2000-05-02
The complete handbook serie has to be one of the most disappointing serie to be put out by the folk at D&D. The lack of concision and the overall usefulness of those books are extremly disappointing. Let me first tell you what you won't find in the bard handbook : good illustrations, usefull charts, interesting new skills, or magic items worth mentionning. The reason for this is quite simple, there was no real reason to put out the book in the first place. All you need to know to play your bard caracter, can be found in the 2nd edition player's handbook and the few interesting novelty of this book should have been added there. I'm trying very hard to find something positive or new to mention about this book but there is nothing to find here, just 124 pages of things I already knew or would have rather ignored. If you really feel like you need to know more about how to play a bard character in your campaign, I suggest you look for historic books about bards rather then try to make sense of this one...

More Wiccan Claptrap.......2007-09-01
From the book's description; "The book is divided into 5 parts, corresponding to the elements of the Western Magical Tradition: Air, Fire, Water & Earth--with Spirit at the center."
From this we can certainly tell that this is just more Celtified Wiccan claptrap rather than a scholarly piece of work. I'm just surprised that the publisher isn't Llewelyn.
Book Description
International executive coach and consultant Graham Alexander pinpoints the 10 essential questions leaders must ask themselves to stay on top of the game.
Customer Reviews:
One of the best.......2007-01-09
One of the best hands-on leadership books I have read. Excellent tips and practices. Great stories. Very practical with items that can be implemented immediately. Very thought provoking.
Crucial Questions from a Top Executive Coach by Alexander.......2005-12-12
The author is a proponent of the following organizational
customs/philosophies:
- get fear out into the open where it can be confronted and
dealt with constructively
- say what you think
- face facts dispassionately rather than running away from them
- confront negativity head-on
- be passionate about your business
- seek new missions to reinvigorate staff
- select the undone things on your "to do" list
- itemize reasons for failure or reasons why there are no results
- discuss the unmentionables dispassionately
- do not waste precious talent
The work is invaluable because it confronts reasons why
people and/or organizations face intractable bottlenecks.
Dispassionate honesty flushes out why an organization does not
work so that constructive strategies can be put forth to
improve the throughput of decision-making .
Made a huge difference in the way I run my company.......2005-10-20
No one teaches you to be a CEO, but this book offers a rare peek behind the scenes in other corner offices. The book gives real-world examples of issues faced by some of the world's top executives, and walks you through how Alexander coached them to solutions that substantially increased their effectiveness. He brings a refreshingly human approach to leadership issues. I hear his fee is $1,000 an hour, so this book seems like a pretty affordable way to get his help!
Tales From The Top.......2005-10-15
Tales From The Top is a must read for every leader! This book not only helps you to achieve your best in business but as well teaches you how to achieve your personal best in life. I appreciate how Graham asks the appropriate questions to not only help you excel in business, but also how to thrive in your personal life. Many books on the market today help you to excel in one or the other, not in both. I appreciate the balance Graham challenges every leader to achieve.
Tales From the Top is a must read for business leaders.......2005-10-14
"Graham's experienced, original, honest approach in helping business unit leaders improve themselves, which in turn improves the companies they run, is powerful and full of real work and world wisdom. Tales From the Top is a must read for managers and business leaders"
