Great Book!!.......2000-10-19
As I am aspiring to become an animator for Disney in the upcoming years, I picked this book up earlyer today. I read nearly the entire thing in 2 hours. All of the imformation was worth while to me, and the content was all true. I have read MANY books on animation, including the Illusion of Life, and this book contains great info.
Too pretentious, but does introduce some interesting ideas........1998-09-22
The book is intended to lead one by the hand into the classic animation industry. One gets the impression that using this book (and some practice) you can become professional enough to start your own studio - it even conatains a list of items to buy for your brand new animation studio...According to my experience, you have to spend several long years in the industry as a professional animator just to become worthy of the title "animator"; let alone starting your own animation studio. However, the book does introduce some interesting ideas (although I don't agree with all of them), and I did like very much the chapters dealing with learning how to draw and how to animate. Important: the book does not teach drawing and animtion techniques! It gives an idea about what to learn (which is the most important information!) and how to learn it. All in all, certainly worh reading.

Grimmy is back! And he's funnier than ever in this brand-new collection from Pulitzer Prize winner Mike Peters. Grimmy is the wisecracking, opinionated, cat-terrorizing, postman-chasing, freeloading bon vivant who brings delighted smiles to the faces of his millions of adoring fans in the enormously popular cartoon strip Mother Goose and Grimm.

Grimmy Goes Postal.......2007-07-22
You either love "Mother Goose and Grimm" or you don't know "Mother Goose and Grimm." In-jokes galore, comic-strip surrealism to the max, an improbably unique Greek chorus-cum-Everyman in the person of Grimmy, and the incomparably droll Mother Goose combine for a highly recommended read. Just be careful about reading it on public transit or elevators--people will begin to wonder about you!
Book Description
Wouldn't it be nice if you could sit down with a lawyer who normally charges $600 per hour without any concern as to the amount of the legal fees you would incur? To get some expert, straightforward advice for yourself, a family member or friend who is contemplating marriage or divorce? Now is your chance to blow the bank on legal fees without actually doing so. A top family law attorney for twenty years provides hard-won reflections and commonsense advice (with witticisms) on love, marriage, and living together. Don't even think about tying the knot, breaking up or starting all over again without reading this lively, invaluable book.
Customer Reviews:
Promising theses but not much legal advice.......2007-08-07
I wish the author really shared his legal expertise with the reader rather than beating around the bushes. The book could and should be much more succinct and to the point, while still easy to read/listened. Instead we get a lot of common sense notions, and many repetitions of the obvious, and not enough actual legalistic information.
I've listened it in the digital format, and from more than 7 hours of audio, no more than 1 hour can be classified as legal advice. The rest is crowd-pleasing filling. Based on the subtitle $600 per hour legal advice, I defintely didn't got $4200 worth of legal advice.
Must read for all- married or not.......2006-01-24
What were you thinking... we have all asked ourselves that question many times! This book really makes you ask yourself the tough questions that are useful before, during, or after a marriage (or any relationship for that matter). The expertise and insight that Barondess has in regards to marriage and divorce is unique, as well as entertaining! Just the tips on working with an attorney in general are invaluable! I believe everyone who has had, or is thinking of having, a committed relationship (not just getting married), should read this book!
Very insightful on the impact of marriage and divorces.......2006-01-10
The author tends to engage in conjecture at times, but overall, his book is very insightful on the divorce process and it definitely makes one realize all the practical implications of a marriage. People often decide to marry when they are on such an emotional high that they do not realize how tough it is to merge lives and property together.
I would have liked to have seen more commentary by relationship experts such as Dr. Phil instead of celebrities, but I suppose the author is trying to show how even celebrities have the same marital issues as everyone else.
What Were You Thinking?.......2005-10-30
I am only 1/8 through this book and I WISH I had read this when I was 18. I am 52 and have been married to two sociopaths. A lot of the book verbalizes things many of us KNOW but we IGNORE. I recommend reading this to anyONE contemplating marriage. It's a wake up call. Makes you THINK. Some of us need someone to SAY things clearly in black and white. That would be ME. Well here it is... I plan on writing another review after completing reading this book. Stay tuned...
HILARIOUS... BUT TOO LATE FOR ME.......2005-10-19
My bride (we are still writing thank you notes for our wedding gifts) and I sat up until 2am the night we were given this book, laughing and reading parts of it aloud to each other. We both loved the part cautioning readers that whatever bugs you about your intended before the wedding will only get worse as the years pass... so true. The author, a tough divorce attorney, takes a pretty hard line: if you don't want to get divorced, then don't get ever get married. Well, we already did exactly what he advises against, but there was still plenty of valuable reading here. It gave this newlywed lots to think about... particularly enjoyed the interview with Gene Simmons, of all people, about relationships. Funny cartoons. Very enjoyable book.

Book Description
The history of Roy Ashton, the cinema's greatest make-up designers. He designed most of Hammer's most famous monsters-his influence is unmeasurable, many of today's "monster-makers" credit him as an inspiration.
Customer Reviews:
Great contribution to Hammer history.......2005-08-12
It warms my heart to see there are people out there researching and preserving the history of those cultural heroes whose work often goes unsung. This book is a mine of information on Roy Ashton, the make-up artist responsible for creating most of Hammer's most memorable monsters in the '50s through '70s, including the Mummy, the Werewolf (in Curse of the Werewolf) and the Reptile. The amount of previously unseen material, including photos, original designs and technical and biographical facts, is astounding. Good job, boys!
A Modern Masterpeice........2000-01-13
Greasepaint& Gore. What a wonderful title for a truly epic book, which has information that no true fan of the genre of horror, can afford to miss.Messers Sachs & Wall, are to be heartily congratulated on what is definately a modern masterpeice.Every aspect of Roy Ashton's make-up expertease,is covered in detail, including a very great number of props are shown. Don't waste time, buy a copy, you'll be glad you did.
Fans of Makeup, Hammer & Horror, could find no better read!.......1999-01-15
Fans of Make-up, Hammer Films, or the film industry in general could find no more entertaining read. As an insight to a time and place, this book is fascinating. I learned so much about the moviemaking at Hammer, and in England in the 1930's through 60's. As a make-up artist myself, I was intrigued to hear so many stories that resonate with my own, more current, experiences. My only real complaint is that the book contains very little in the way of detailed explanatiuons of how Mr. Ashton created his make-ups or products used. However, I understand that is not the intent of the book. It does achieve it's goals very well and belongs on the bookshelves of any true fan!
Customer Reviews:
Excellent resource for campaign-level adventure hooks.......2000-04-30
It's hard to explain just how much treasure is buried betweenthese covers. You get ...pages of information on the intriguingworld of Mystara - perfectly supplementing the Gazeteer series withexclusive information! Highlights include: Maps of the world, the location, government, resources, descriptions, histories, monsters, and famous personages of every realm, detailed breakdowns of every major army and navy in the world, complete with stats; biographies and stats on every major ruler; and best of all, ...pages of adventure hooks, set throughout the calendar year of 1010! It's the most complete, easy way to begin a spectacular campaign in the world of Mystara, for D&D or AD&D. By legendary "Hollow World" writer Aaron Allston.
Not that great a book.......2000-03-12
Poor Wizard's Almanac tries to tie together all of the nations of the D&D campaign world into one easily digestible work, but with poor results. This book lists nations on one-by-one basis, dealing with each in an extremely limited way (listings include only the basic geography, customs, army size, and major sites. No maps of any sort are included for the small-scale locations, although they would be appreciated). Further on, the world history is dealt with on an event-by-event basis, leading to a section describing the current status of all things. The listings are quite disorganized and can be quite confusing, and while they provide some amount of flavor to the campaign, most of the data is generic (and unnecessary) filler.
This handbook is not the most useful or interesting. Either buy one of the more specific works, or use your imagination.

Customer Reviews:
Not the best frugal living book out there.......2007-03-18
This book would be great for "beginning" to live and think frugally. If you've got a home, and kids then this would be a good book to just look at if you are thinking about becoming more frugal.
I guess I would refer this book to people who definitely have a budget to live off of - and maybe those who really aren't hurting that bad money wise.
And, you don't have to be a dummie to read this book.
The introduction was probably the best part of the whole book.
Very helpful book.......2006-08-23
This book has tons of great tips and overall is helpful to anyone looking to become more frugal and live more simply. Highly recommend.
Great for those new to the lifestyle.......2006-03-18
If you're new to frugal living then I'm sure this book will be of great help to you. I've been living a frugal lifestyle for a few years now and was hoping I might get a few new suggestions by reading this book but unfortunately I was wrong. I would recommend this book to those who are interested in saving a bit here and there. Frugality doesn't mean that you need to move to a teeny tiny apartment, clip coupons and eat rice for every meal. If you're looking to get out of debt or maybe try to simplify your way of living, this book would be a great start.
Intro to frugality 101.......2004-12-24
I see this book as an intoduction to frugality. In the last 2 years I have read everything I could get my hands on frugality. I am now debt free, my only bills being my mortage and utility bills. No credit card debt! I think this book is an introduction to being frugal. It is not as comando as the tightwad gazette, and the ideas can be easily adapted for a newby.
Geting started is always the first step, and this is a friendly introduction to the concepts of frugality. I think it is laid out well. And can help anyone it does not seem so radical. A lot of these books make the reader feel deprived, this book does not, it is an alternative. When ever we feel deprived we don't stay on track. Thats budget wise, diet wise, or anything else in our lives we want to change. This is the book for you if you want to change your spending habits. I would buy it if I were new to frugality, if you have been frugal for a while you may want something diffrent as this book has a lot of ideas I have read in other books. I think it is great for a beginner, but not for advanced frugal zealots.
Keep in mind, this is a "FOR DUMMIES" book!.......2004-07-14
Just a quick reminder for all of those reviewers who seem to have forgotten this one little fact: "FOR DUMMIES" books are written for self-proclaimed "Dummies" ... people who know nothing about a given topic, but want to learn the basics.
For example, when I wanted a basic book on birdwatching (because I knew NOTHING about the topic but wanted to get a good, solid start with basic, accurate information) ... I bought "Birdwatching For Dummies". When my teenage daughter needed help with her classes in Algebra and Biology ... I bought her copies of "Algebra For Dummies" and "Biology For Dummies".
These "FOR DUMMIES" books have a particular place in the book market ... they're written for BEGINNERS -- people who know absolutely NOTHING about a topic. "Frugal Living For Dummies" accomplishes exactly what it sets out to do ... it provides a basic introduction and simple framework for people unfamiliar with frugal living basics.
Keep in mind when reading reviews of this book that say things like, "It barely scratches the surface of frugal living," that this book is part of the trademarked "FOR DUMMIES(R)" series ... it's a book that's obviously NOT written to people who've been living frugally their entire adult lives and already know a-thousand-and-one ways to recycle styrofoam meat trays.
If you're a long-time frugal person, buy a copy of "Frugal Living For Dummies" as a gift for your spendthrift friends ... but if you've read every frugal book on the market, you'll honestly be happier just sitting around hugging your Tightwad Gazette books.
REMEMBER: Don't buy a "For Dummies" book on ANY topic if you're not looking for a simple overview of the absolute BASICS! I just hate seeing people bash a perfectly good book just because they don't "get" the purpose of the book. Silly, silly people. What are they thinking?
But ... if you're brand new to frugal living and are looking for a basic introductory overview, then THIS, my friend, is YOUR book! If you have a sense of humor, can laugh at yourself a bit, and need a simple introduction to frugality, run -- don't walk! -- to the "Buy Now" button on this webpage. You won't be disappointed!
