Customer Reviews:
Love this for a few reasons..........2007-02-27
First, I love to have this wrapping paper in BOOK form because I can just keep it at my desk here and when opportunities to give presents come up, I don't have to go digging to find wrapping paper. It's right here, where my scissors and tape are anyway. And it's in a book, so there are no wrinkled or crunched ends.
Second, there is a LOT of paper here. There are 12, brightly colored sheets that each fold out to be 4X the size of the book (which is approximately 10"X13".
Third, there is a LOT of wrapping paper in these books. I wish there were more books out there like it, but Amazon mostly seems to sell 2 page per- and 4 page per-book wrapping paper books. TOO EXPENSIVE. I've found only three books on Amazon that have as many pages as this:
* Giftwraps by Artists English Floral Patterns (by Joost Elffers)
* Giftwraps by Artists: Paisley (by Arlene Raven)
* and this one
Well worth the price. The book has lasted me over a year. I purchased my at Borders in their discount book section, but I recall paying about $8-12 for it as well. So I'm definitely considering paying $12.95 again tonight and getting two so I get free shipping.
I only wish that they had more choices than these, especially in SIMPLER patterns. These are a bit bright and gawdy for my taste. But just for the convenience I'd deal with it all over again.

Paul McCartney: Many Years From Now

Amazon.com
Each One Believing isn't your standard tour memento, but then the tour it chronicles was pretty extraordinary, too. Paul McCartney's 2002-2003 world tour demonstrated just how much mania an ex-Beatle could trigger more than three decades after the demise of the Fab Four. McCartney, who was approaching his 60th birthday when the tour began, headlined a rapturously received extravaganza that took him from Milwaukee to Moscow, from Tokyo to Tacoma. Each One Believing attempts to capture the tour from all angles via numerous on stage and backstage photos, interviews, and press quotes (no need to toot ones own horn when you have a Mexico City newspaper tagging a performance "the most legendary in history forever"). Don't expect anything in the way of grit in this road tale; the clean-living superstar and his entourage dine on the best vegetarian food money can buy and the youngish sidemen are simply delighted to be performing "She's Leaving Home" with the legendary Sir Paul. Each One Believing isn't revelatory in the least, unless one is desires how many crewmembers it takes to construct a stadium-sized rock stage these days (some 140, it seems). But the many who saw McCartney on the triumphant excursion (or Back in the U.S. DVD) and diehard Beatles fans will find it to be a breezy, eye-catching coffeetable book. --Steven Stolder
Book Description
Each One Believing is a revealing, access-all-areas account of life on the road with Paul McCartney. Filled with photographs never before published and insider details, Each One Believing takes you behind the scenes for an exclusive look into a private world. Based on Paul McCartney's most celebrated tour since The Beatles, it weaves Paul's own personal reflections -- along with those of his wife, Heather, his band, and his crew -- together with hundreds of dynamic images by the tour's official photographer, Bill Bernstein, showing both Paul's public appearances and the quiet, one-on-one moments. What drives him to perform? What does it feel like to sing the songs that have touched so many of our lives? This remarkable journey takes us from New York in the days following 9/11, when Paul wrote Freedom; across North America, Europe, and Japan; to his historic show in Moscow's Red Square, "because, having written 'Back in the USSR', I wanted to go there and play that." Poignant and candid, funny and illuminating, Each One Believing is a road trip unlike any other.

A Good Book For Your Coffee Table.......2005-11-27
A great collection of photos -- perfect for the coffee table where you and your guests can pick it up and flip thru it to enjoy the interesting pictures. However, the best Beatles book of the year is undoubtedly TURN ME ON, DEAD MAN by Andru J. Reeve. It's available here at Amazon.com. While "Each One Believing" is nice eye-candy, "Turn Me On, Dead Man" is great journalism, and a much better target for your reading dollar. That's just my opinion.
Rock Show!.......2005-05-17
This book is a cornucopia of photographs and text. Paul McCartney, a veteran in the entertainment business and a class act to boot is clearly happy with himself and quite comfortable on stage, doing his job. No doubt fans as well as those with a more "moderate" interest in Paul McCartney as well as the Beatles will be delighted with this book. I love it!
Paul McCartney is not only an extraordinary showman, but serious and dedicated to his musical Muse. He is a musical purist in the truest sense of the term in that he respects the art of being able to create and perform musically. He paints musical murals with his words; he has a full range ability in performing many different musical styles which makes him musically versatile.
I like the feeling of cooperation that appears to underscore the people directly involved with this show...it sounds like the entire crew had a wonderful time and enjoyed the fruits of their success in technically enabling Paul McCartney to do a spectacular show! Paul McCartney acknowledges this which speaks highly of him. He also accepts the outpouring of love from his audience with grace and aplomb, never losing his humorous approach.
To this book's credit, Paul is not put up on a staged pedastal and fawned and spoonfed obsequious flattery. The people who were directly involved in the production and execution of the concert were serious about doing their jobs well and that was reflected in the actual performance. They were doing their jobs and not currying favor from anybody. It is only natural to be enthusiastic at such a performance and no doubt making any contribution toward the show could only prompt enthusiastic delight.
The photographs are delightful - readers see Paul having fun on and off stage; his lovely wife Heather and the crew who made it all possible. The book speaks to professionalism on the part of the crew; the performers and those photographing and writing about the concert.
This book is truly beautiful and there are many funny, touching, endearing and serious parts. It is Gestaltism - the whole IS greater than the sum of its parts because it is the whole, that is the performer, the crew, loved ones, audience and all who had a part in the production who made the whole show/experience/book as wonderful as they are. It is a glimpse behind the performer's curtain.
Covers both public appearances and private moments.......2005-03-11
Fans of the Beatles and Paul McCartney won't want to miss this lovely title, filled with photos never seen before and insider details from McCartney himself, and packed in an eye-catching hardcover suitable for gift giving and coffee tables. Each One Believing: Paul McCartney - On Stage, Off Stage and Backstage blends McCartney's personal reflections and those of his wife Heather, his band, and his crew and covers both public appearances and private moments. An intimate atmosphere is created which follows some of his finest on-stage moments in recent years.
Superb Collection of Photographs.......2004-12-27
Each One Believing: Paul McCartney; On Stage, Off Stage, and Backstage by Caroline Grimshaw and photography by Bill Bernstein is an excellent visual collection and recollection of Paul McCartney and his band, and the people that were involved with his 2002-2003 World Tour. The book has a great layout and captures McCartney and company in candid moments that go with documentary photography. The chapters in the book are particularly named from lines of songs included in the tour, and at the back of the book, is a quirky section, the Tourasaurus, that McCartney shares with his readers that gives a run down of terms that were used during the tour.
Besides the tremendous photographs in the book, there are radio interviews embedded in the contents of the book that reveal McCartney as one unstoppable rockin' machine, or not to be cliched, a fine wine that keeps "gettin' better" as time goes by. Indeed, he is an icon in rock and roll history and in history in general. There is a line in the book where he speaks about singing and writing "Yesterday," which reveals how far this man has come: "I was writing with wisdom of an old man, but I was quite a young man. So now, once you have actually lost friends and lovers, then it really is kind of ... it means more" (27).
Overall, this a nice addition to anyone's coffetable book collection as well for anyone interested in photography. In addition, this is a wonderful accompaniment to McCartney' Back In the USA DVD, and for those fortunate to be a part of this rock and roll spectacular, this is a book that relives the moments of the tour. McCartney sums up the excitement: "And it's electrifying. It's like a warm blanket, a big wave of heat coming over you, and you just get the intensity, and you see these faces and you think, "Wow! They've come to party" (128).
a reader from Venezuela !!.......2004-12-25
Great great book!! if you are a McCarteny fan, you must have it. mostly if you were in the 2002-2003 "Back in the USA" tour. I don't think that Paul needs to promote himself like some reviews said, this is a good, ilustrative and photographic memories from that great tour. The photos are great, the quality of the book too. I was blessed to be in the last show from that leg of the tour in 2002 Ft. Lauderdale FL, amazing show!! and this book brings to me once again all the emotions from that show !!

The Happy Book Made Glenwood Look.......2005-04-14
Melanie Gilbert & Snip Francis have created something Great!
The Happy Book made us look now it seems we can't wait.
This book has no competition,
Just melody and repetition.
Open it up and you will see,
what Glenwood students saw with me.
They saw stars and they saw light,
and they saw hope peer through the night.
They saw pictures they saw rhythum...
"Snip & Gilbert" know what to give them.
Books with looks and lots of hooks,
instead of rapps with Gangsters and crooks.
From the school yard to the stable they read books happy books.
That's what kids really need...One great book many great deeds.
They listened closely as Gilbert recited "The ENTIRE Book!"
the children ignited!
It made them happy it made them elated,
with each page she read they anticipated.
A book that's written with an ancient depth,
Like poetry it set us free.
Watch out now! Watch Out! Mother Goose,
"The Happy Book" has just got loose.
Yes the "Hey Look! Happy Book" really made boys and girls at Glenwood School perk up and listen the other day. From the 2nd grader to the 8th grader this book and it's authors (Gilbert & Francis) made a diversified group of kids get mesmerized by the contents. The book is also color filled. Perfect for Glenwood students who are a well mixed group of children from Hispanic, Black and White communities all over the Chicagoland suburbs.
The book is limitless with no boundaries that could even prevent a well seasoned college educated nursery rhyme veteran like me from not perking up and reading. I highly recommend it and give it 8 ******** Stars.
Loved it!.......2003-04-15
I had the opportunity to meet the authors at a book signing a few months ago. They are a joy to be with, totally energetic and love kids. "The Happy Book" is a reflection of their attitudes. The book has paper puppets you cut out, and they each match a certain item on each page of the book. As you read, your child finds the puppet that matches, which they (oddly) never tire of. Fun and uplifting for parent and child.
Happy Book Rocks!.......2003-04-09
This book is totally cool! I bought this book for my 6 yr. old son who just became a new big brother. The Happy Book made him feel special even with a new baby in the house. The puppets in the back kept him busy...2 big thumbs up from a grateful dad.

Great personalized gift book.......2005-12-07
By putting your child's picture on the back cover of the book, your child will see himself playing baseball, basketball, track, swimming, etc. And the narrative on each page ends with "I can do it". A great self esteem raiser for kids and fun as well.

Really, book making (right on your kitchen table) made simple!.......2006-03-19
From the recent spring cleaning of my personal library, this little palm-size book suddenly caught my eyes again. It's a step-by-step guide to creating your own notebook, sketchbook, dreambook, anything book. I remember I bought it at the time when I was just starting up my own retail store (specialising in learning & creativity books) to complement my strategy consulting business.
Actually, it is perfect for anyone who want to build multiple copies of his or her writings or create personalised blank books. I thought I could use it to guide me in creating something unique that I could give away as 'thank-you' gifts to VIP customers. I eventually did some serious work but never got down to finishing the final prototype: an idea notebook.
Nevertheless, the many practical hints in the book eventually inspired me to develop beautifully customised business proposals for my clients.
To sum up, with this wonderful book, plus a little imagination & some paper, glue, cloth, cardboard, thread & a needle, you can start binding your own memorable book right on your kitchen table.

Craig is hot and so is this book.......1998-08-24
Craig Kilborne is the heartbeat of Cable tv and he is now the heartbeat of paperbacks. His witty humor will keep you in stitches. If humor interests you in any way you will buy this book.
The Five Questions will make your head explode!.......1998-08-22
Five Questions. If you appear as a guest on the Daily Show, the Five would probably make your head explode. The Daily Show is probably one of the hottest late-night shows around, and Craiggers and his gang have proven just that for two straight years... With this book, you will explode in laughter as you read the answers to hundreds of questions from your favorite stars! If you're not a fan of the Daily Show, or don't have a clue as to what it is, don't buy it! However, if you love the dancing and the scene where a guy smashes a convict's head apart, buy it!
The Five Questions will make you scream out loud!.......1998-08-22
The Daily Show's Five Questions book is a perfect addition for the novice Daily Show fan! Craig Kilborn and his gang up in New York made this book for the special Daily Show fans throughout America as a way of saying "thanks" for watching the show. If you don't have a clue as to what the Daily Show is, don't buy it. But if you are, get it now!
Somewhat disappointing.......1998-08-04
Even for the avid "Daily Show" fan (like myself), this book is a bit disappointing. Despite a witty and well written introduction by the Craigmeister himself, page after page of Five Questions tends to wear on the nerves a bit. It was interesting to read through once, but it is not the kind of book you'll read again and again. I suppose you get what's advertised, but you could always watch reruns.
Customer Reviews:
An overview.......2000-08-30
This is a fairly good introduction into international film. Its relative brevity is perhaps a plus for beginning students of film, who do not want to buy several books. But I found it inadequate. It only briefly mentions the major names, films, styles, themes, movements, etc, and as a survey its approach is too linear. Supplemental books are needed to get a satisfactory understanding of the history. The book is a summary that works to increase your curiosity.

Book Description
This collection of writings allows the reader a rare opportunity to see Barzun's lively, engaging, rich, and original mind at work on several strategic areas of cultural inquiry: music and the musical life, esthetics, biography, criticism, and social commentary. Barzun makes use of a variety of contexts as a forum for evidence and opinion, including essays, program notes, letters, and reviews. And he approaches a wide variety of particular and general questions. What is it like to sit in on a recording session with a great orchestra? What is the role of the piano in Western culture? What is art in relation to objective reality and to the perceiving mind? Can one translate music into words? What is cultural history?
For anyone unfamiliar with Barzun's work, Critical Questions will serve as a valuable introduction to one of the most important cultural historians of our time. Others will be glad to have these pieces—most of them no longer easily available—brought together in a single volume. Uniformly insightful, provocative, and a pleasure to read, they show the consistency of Barzun's thought even as they exhibit diversity.
Book Description
In this account of his victory at the 1929 Carlsbad Tournament, Nimzovich offers a captivating retrospective of his triumph over some of the best of his contemporaries: Capablanca, Spielmann, Bogolyubov, Tartakower, Sämisch, and others. A tart analysis of Carlsbad's 30 best games.
Customer Reviews:
An interesting curio.......2005-12-21
This book isn't even the best book that Nimzovich himself wrote.
It appears to be a straightforward account of the 1929 Carlsbad tournament.
However, Nimzovich, in the course of this book, assails Capablanca for adopting the true "hypermodern-restraint-blockade" course of play that Nimzovich felt was his patent.
Pure sour grapes on Nimzovich's fault.
If you don't mind reading a tournament book intermingled with polemics, this is the book for you.
The reader might view this aspect of the work as antiquatedly charmful (Imagine Anand assailing Shirov in book form!) but I view it as petty.
The book itself is adequate enough, though perhaps a tad less detailed in its variations then other contemporaneous books.
However, I would steer the general reader towards other tournament books such as Zurich 1953 by Bronstein, New York 1924 and/or 1927 by Alekhine, and Wijk aan Zee 1975 by Kavalek ahead of this book.
Readers interested in reading more of Nimzovich's material beyond "My System" and "Chess Praxis" should likewise skip this book until they've read "Blockade" by Nimzovich and "Aron Nimzowitsch: A Reappraisal" by Keene.
There are better tournament books out there. There are better books about and by Nimzovich out there. This book is not essential reading, unless you must have everything Nimzovich.
A classic of chess literature.......2005-04-17
This book - originally written by Nimzovich, and translated by Marfia - is one of the greatest books of all time. Nimzovich helped author the "hyper-modern" movement. He was one of the strongest players of his day, second only to Alekhine. And his writings have now helped shaped generations of chess players.
It is said that Petrosian - when he was young - was greatly shaped and influenced by the ideas of Aron Nimzovich. GM Bent Larsen felt that "My System" was the most influential book that he had ever read. I could go on and on, but hopefully you get the idea. (I also feel that Nimzovich was a powerful force in my development as a chess player.)
Perhaps the ONLY criticism that I could offer of this book is that the openings look a little dated, a player who wants to see ONLY modern games should skip this one. But this book is a bargain, and if you want to study some great chess, and {also} be influenced by the writings of Nimzovich, then grab it!

The average person's attention span lasts about 30 seconds. That means first and immediate impressions count, and big. In this modern-day update of Dale Carnegie's classic How to Win Friends and Influence People, former fashion photographer Nicholas Boothman instructs you in how to mold those 30 seconds to your greatest advantage and connect with others at business and social functions.
Boothman, now a lecturer and licensed master practitioner of neurolinguistic programming (the art and science of how the brain affects human connections), says that the key to making others like you quickly lies in establishing a rapport: you have to find out what you have in common or, if you seemingly have nothing in common, purposely try to become like the other person for a short time. He then goes on to offer simple techniques for getting a rapport going: adopt a positive attitude; make sure your words, tone, and gestures are all saying the same thing; synchronize your attitude and body movements to those of another person's (which makes the person feel comfortable with you--although he or she may not know why); and ask lots of open-ended questions. Boothman also describes how to figure out a stranger's favored sense for receiving information about the world--some rely on visual cues, others on auditory or kinesthetic (touch) input--and use it to your best advantage.
If discovering how to connect with others is the secret to business and life success, as Boothman contends, then employing the strategies in this book will make you instantly likeable and give you a leg up on the competition. --Nancy Monson
Book Description
Whether selling, managing, negotiating, planning, collaborating, pitching, instructing-or on your knees with a marriage proposal-the secret of success is based on connecting with other people. Now that connection is infinitely easier to make through Nicholas Boothman's program of rapport by design.
HOW TO MAKE PEOPLE LIKE YOU IN 90 SECONDS OR LESS is the work of a master of Neuro-Linguistic Programming whose career is teaching corporations and groups the secrets of successful face-to-face communication. Aimed at establishing rapport-that stage between meeting and communicating-HOW TO MAKE PEOPLE LIKE YOU focuses on the concept of synchrony. It shows how to synchronize attitude, synchronize body language, and synchronize voice tone so that you instantly and imperceptibly become someone the other person likes. Reinforcing these easy-to-learn skills is knowing how to read the other person's sensory preferences-most of us are visual, some are kinesthetic, and a minority are auditory. So when you say "I see what you mean" to a visual person, you're really speaking his language. Along the way the book covers attitude, nervousness, words that open a conversation and words that shut it down, compliments, eye cues, the magic of opposites attracting, and more. It's how to make the best of the most important 90 seconds in any relationship, business or personal.
Customer Reviews:
Outstanding Read!.......2007-08-26
If you want a book to deliver on what it's title says, BUY THIS BOOK. Learn how to communicate effectively without being overly concerned about words. I have investigated many Neuro-Linguistic Programming systems now, and Mr. Boothman stands out head and shoulders above the rest. His ethics base is strong; there is an absence of selfish manipulation taught throughout his system.
A true "How to" very practically writen!.......2007-08-18
Another fantastic book for weomen which I highly recommend is - How to be a Super Hot Woman: 339 Tips to Make Every Man Fall in Love with You and Every Woman Envy You
Awsome books!
Easy to read, but light on substance .......2007-07-26
It's a decent pamphlet for those who need the most basic of primers. It's a quick and easy read and has some good tips, but if you're serious about learning how to improve your people skills, your money and time will be better spent on Leil Lowndes' "How to Talk to Anyone: 92 Little Tricks for Big Success in Relationships" instead. It's an updated take on Dale Carnegie classic "How to Win Friends and Influence People", which give you clear steps for improving your rapport with others.
This is NOT Based on Science.......2007-01-17
I thought this book was based on scientific research, but it is part of a body of knowledge termed Neurolinguistic Programming. It comes from New Age beliefs and has been hailed by some as "junk" science. Many people have marketed these teachings, such as this book, to come up with a pop-psychology that sells.
The upside of this book is that it is very entertaining. It is very upbeat and fun, and it sure seems like the magic bullet to cure all of your social awkwardness! But beware, you might just end up looking like a goober. One recent character on the Office used the a technique in the book called "mirroring" to make people like him better. It made for good prime-time comedy.
If you want to be a better friend, then read the book of Proverbs in the Bible. There you will find a more lasting and proven way of building your character.
You can read more about Neuro Linguistic Programming at Wikipedia.
Teen Shyness Overcome.......2006-08-08
My 16 year old son has always been shy. I gave my son this book to read over the summer to see if it could help him overcome some of his shyness before entering his junior year in high school. Overnight, this book changed his life. Everytime he practiced a new skill his self confidence grew. Everyone is commenting on the change in him. I have purchased extra copies of this book to give to other kids who are ready to gain confidence in themselves; to feel comfortable enough with themselves to meet new people and feel comfortable with old friends. Over the years I have tried teaching my son some of the skills in this book, but until my son read the book himself he just didn't get it. Now he does. He is the happy kid I have always known him to be. He is constantly smiling now and rushes to meet life head on. I highly recommend this book to teens and adults looking for a simple answer on how to meet people and make them like you in 90 seconds or less.

Audiobook chips also move seamlessly to most Palm OS and Pocket PC handheld PDAs with SD expansion slots, as well as Treo and Windows Mobile "smartphones" (Palm OS 5.2 or Windows Mobile 2002 and above)... Whether meeting a new client or bumping into a potential mate, you have only seconds to make a favorable impression. Author Nicholas Boothman, a practitioner of neurolinguistic programming, introduces a revolutionary approach to face-to-face communication that helps make meaningful, immediate connections. AUTHOR: Nicholas Boothman is founder of the business consulting firm Corporate Images. A former photographer for clients such as AT&T, Revlon, Coca-Cola and Bell, he learned his success depended on establishing instant rapport, which led to writing "How to Make People Like You in 90 Seconds or Less," which sold over 100,000 copies. Mr. Boothman conducts seminars throughout North America and Europe, and lives outside of Toronto, Canada, with his wife and family. REVIEWS: "Boothman's smooth accent guides listeners through the various strategies of connecting with others." - Audiobook News Service. "Blessed with an irresistible premise and title, this well-packaged self-help book draws its advice from neuro-linguistic programming and a study of interpersonal communication conducted by two UCLA doctors." - Publishers Weekly.
