I first saw this book while i was looking through the photography section at the University of Guelph library. This book probably influenced my photography more than any other. Unfortunately, it also made me start doing shots with my nikon that are better suited for a large format system. The introductory interview with the photographer is possibly the most interesting discussion on the topic of light and photography. If you plan to become anything more than an amature photographer, PLEASE get this book NOW.

Takes your photographic breath away.......2002-03-04

Ansel Adams said that this book was his favorite book of color photographs (the reason I bought it, long ago). Meyerowitz's use of little contrast, incomparible colors, and unusual subject matter makes this a must MEMORIZE book for all serious photographers. If you don't go nuts over his photographs, you don't like photography as much as you thought you did.......

Right speakers, Wrong speeches!.......1999-01-23

At first glance, Halliburton's book appears to be a useful text to introduce the leading black speakers and speeches to students. On a closer examination, however, one finds that with the exception of Dr. King's "I Have A Dream," the most salient speeches in black history have been forgotten. While he includes works by Sojourner Truth, Frederick Douglass, Booker Washington, and Malcolm X, for example, the selected speeches of these leaders are not exemplary, historically significant, or philosophically representative. How can one not included Truth's "Ain't I A Woman?", Douglass' "What To The Slave Is The Fourth Of July?", Washington's "Atlanta Exposition Address," or Malcom X's "The Ballot Or the Bullet"-just to name a few of the many glaring omissions. In short, he has all the right historical figures, but almost none of their significant works. As a result, the book is a poor anthology of black rhetoric and black history.

There are a number of methods used to synthetically prepare biopolymers, their models, and bioanalogous polymers. This work approaches the syntheses of the three major groups of biopolymers existing in nature - polypeptides, polysaccharides, and nucleic and teichoic acids - by ring-opening polymerization. Until now, this method has never been reviewed uniformly for these three groups. The majority of models prepared by ring-opening polymerization can not reach the complexity of the actual biological molecules. However, a better understanding of these biopolymers will aid in the use of such molecules in several fields of application in research and other high technologies, where they mimic functions of related biopolymers in living organisms.
