Some new designs.......2001-02-19
When I ordered this book, I was afraid that a lot of the designs would be from the "Celtic animals" and "Celtic Iron on Transfers". Fortunately, they're all unique. They are all larger than the the designs in the other books.

Thorough and Understandable.......2003-02-22
A very readable book; ideal for learning elementary electronics either in school or on one's own. This is a text for use in the first course of an Electronics Technician program. It is well-written and has very few errors. Hazen succeeds in making things understandable on an intuitive level (where other authors, e.g. Floyd, seem to assume a year of college physics for the background understanding of more abstract concepts). The pub date of 1990 should not put you off, because the fundamentals really have not changed. What has changed in books which have gone through more regular updating are the graphics, which are fancier, and the prices, which are proportionately higher (funny how the same hard to follow explanations are repeated from edition to edition by other authors -- a weakness not improved by pretty graphics). This book also comes in at just under 650 total pages (supplementary material and index are paginated seperately) where a competing book weighs (heavily) in at 1008 total. Which one would you rather carry around for a year? Few 2 year tech programs will use all of the material in the 1kp volume. This book can help open the doors to something more advanced, such as the excellent _The Art of Electronics_ by Horowitz and Hill.
Outstanding DC/AC text for Vocational and Technical Schools!.......1996-05-25
Fundamentals of DC and AC Circuits - Hazen has done it again with a winning book targeted exactly right for the Vocational and Technical School markets. This book is the very definition of adjectives such as readable, understandable, practical, applied, and complete. Many students say this is one of the few textbooks they were able to read and actually understand. All parts of the book and available ancillaries were written by Hazen, providing the all-important continuity that students need and expect. This is a definite buy for anyone wanting to learn about electricity, either on their own or in a formal classroom

Book Description
Wallace's Ping Pong O'Matic Automated Home Leisure System has hiccuped badly during field trials. Then, when the pigeons next door ruin Gromit's washing, man and dog face a hefty bill. So when they see an invitation to attend an Invention Convention-with a big cash prize for the best invention-they have no choice but to enter. So begins Anoraknophobia, which brings the pair face-to-eyepatch with the sinister Herr Doktor Count Baron Napoleon von Strudel, inventor of the Acme Utility Anorak, and his scary, spider-taming wife, Queenie. The so-called von Strudels seem strangely familiar to Wallace, however. And our heroes soon find themselves entangled in Operation S.P.A.R.R.O.W, a diabolically evil plan to brainwash the cream of British brainpower-with serious implications for the future of table tennis and other indoor sports.
Customer Reviews:
this isn't a bad book.......2005-01-02
This book to me isn't quite as lovable as the claymation feature a grand day out, close shave, and the wrong trousers. It is entertaining and suspensful, but lacks the punchy timing of the movies. It is worth while, but i would suggest owning the movies before owning this.
Anoraknophobia: a masterpiece!.......2001-06-30
Absolutely brilliant! The story begins when Wallace invents a "Ping Pong O'Matic Automated Home Leisure System", but when the machine goes haywire and destroys the washing machine, Wallace needs to pay a hefty repair bill. And so the man and his dog enter an Invention Convention sponsored by the Acme Corporation- with a first prize of £100. But soon, everything's not all as it seems...
The plot of this book is fabulous, the art is superb and the colours are nice and bright! Of the new characters introduced, the best are Mr. Patel, Wallace's next-door neighbour, an expert on pigeons and prevailing wind conditions, and the hillariously funny Mr. Do-it-all, the Hotel Splendio's doorman, receptionist, porter, bell boy, gardener, barman, room-service operative, and owner: "It's a job share," according to Mr. Do-it-all.
I would recommend this book to anyone- if you've never seen Wallace and Gromit before, you should still read this book- it is absolutely brilliant.
Marillion does the Soundtrack - the next film!?.......2001-03-20
Yet another classic! Forget CHICKEN RUN, let's see the man and his dog on the HOLLYWOOD silver screen. Better yet, get Marillion to do the soundtrack - their latest album just out is called ANORAKNOPHOBIA! (coincidence? Fate? Act of God?) This book takes the intrepid duo into the realm of Hollywood possiblities with a plot that rivals James Bond and Austin Powers, characters like the enigmatic and intriguing Queenie who is at once frightening and wildly attractive, and the villianous von Struedel who could beat Dr. Evil at ping pong any day! Funny throughout, yet another winner from the folk who brought you W&G: the Lost Slipper and the Curse of the Ramsbottoms. Great bedtime fare!
Wallace and Gromit: Anoraknophobia.......2000-06-30
Wallace and Gromit: Anoraknophobia is a great book for even a person that isn't interested in the claymation movies. It features the oscar winning character Wallace and his faithful dog pal Gromit. The book is very humorous at times but also puts it's share in with suspense. It takes place when Wallace creates a ping pong -o- matic home leisure system. Wallace tests out the new home leisure system he breaks his irreplaceable drum on account of they are on a budget. Wallace decides to enter in a invention convention to raise money for the new drum there and the wackiness begins! This is a great book that is very well drawn and thought out. If you liked movies such as "The Wrong Trousers" or "A Grand Day Out," you should definatly check this book out.

Book Description
It's us against them in the business world, and helping bewildered newcomers along the tricky steps of a career path is the wise and winsome Yolanda Nave's playful spoof of the corporate workplace. More than 100 full-color drawings with captions tell the story of the new employee, from the moment she's congratulated as the best-qualified candidate ("You wouldn't mind watering the plants once a week, would you?") to the day she joins the system--and is attacked by a printer gone berserk, stands unrecognized at meetings, and savors the thought of her Christmas bonus (little does she know it will be a piece of fruit).
No aspect of the workaday world is overlooked. Obscure laws of finance are gratefully demystified, such as the esoteric relationship between profits ("Sales are up and profits at an all-time high") and actual profit-sharing ("Now for the bad news. . . .") There's even a section on the six danger signs of coming stress.
Clever and witty, this (equal opportunity) office manual belongs on every desk, right between the white-out and the stack of reports due yesterday. 180,000 copies in print.

How come??!!.......2002-04-24
Just one review to this gem of a book so far? I can't believe it!
I loved it from beginning to end. Each time I feel I'm the only one suffering from corporatitis, I read it again and enjoy either the absolutely hilarious text and the funniest possible illustrations. Highy recommendable.
Now I'm glad that there are at least two good reviews... it deserves more!
The Sad Thing Is That I Have Worked at Companies Like This.......2000-02-26
Think of this as an 80s Dilbert. It's pre-cube and pre-Internet, but very, very funny. From the bumbling boss (Scott Adams did not create the Pointy Haired Boss) to the yuppie project manager in the business suit and heels, this book is full of familiar characters. I swear one of my bosses modeled for the manager, right down to the hairstyle.
From office morale to team building weekends to the war against the photocopier to corporate policy on stress management (I still giggle hysterically at some of those cartoons) this book is perfect for anyone who sometimes needs to see the funnier side of work.
By the way, this makes a great gift for a coworker moving on to greener pastures.

As a Russel Simmons Book Is 2 Rappers,This is 2 Dj/Producers.......2004-07-01
Must have for aspiring House Proucers and Dj's.. You gotta know the history of what you do boi. GET TO READIN'
Excellent guidebook for house music..........2001-12-19
I take this little book with me everytime I go record shopping. Concise and accurate histories of all the DJ's and record labels that make house music what it is. If you're a house DJ, buy it! I guarantee you'll learn a thing or two, even if you've been a DJ forever.
An important book tracing the people, tunes and labels........1999-10-29
Finally, a book on house music capturing the pop sensibilities of the MTV generation, the historical coverage of the New York Times and the song significance of dance music magazines. With a cover graced by none other than Armand Van Helden, HOUSE: The Rough Guide breaks down this musical subgenre in small easily digestible doses.
In keeping with the MTV mindset of short attention spans, HOUSE provides synopses highlighting the salient points of significant contributions DJ's (e.g. Masters at Work, DJ Pierre), producers (e.g. Mood II Swing, Basement Jaxx) and labels (e.g. Nervous, Salsoul) have made to House music. Very much like a NY Times investigative story, Bidder's Rough Guide leaves no stone unturned, reporting on names both past and present in the house music game from Robert Owens to Adeva to Daft Punk to Bobby Konders. The book serves as an excellent resource and reference for beginners to gain knowledge about the genre, for intermidiate house lovers to further their education and for advanced house users as a reference tool to key people.
One added bonus, the book not only covers the people and the labels, but it also names the tunes that catapulted to stardom.
The Ultimate!!!.......1999-09-21
Sean Bidder's Rough Guide is the penultimate piece one can buy on this topic. It is well-written, provides more behind-the-scenes activity than any other source, and is one-of-a-kind. I wouldn't be without this book. It kicks!!
Customer Reviews:
The good stuff!.......2004-03-07
This book is a wonderful collection of rules for playing high-powered characters combined with a nightmarish conspiracy theory that makes just a little too much sense for my comfort.
Although gamers may not want to play in the world presented by the book (it's HARD playing a character with that many skills and advantages), GM's can dredge the well-constructed world for inspiration in other settings and use the many short-cut rules for keeping their own high-point campaigns running smoothly.
Not what you might think.......2000-10-06
This world book is a combination of diverse elements; it's part Illuminati, part Men in Black, part X-Files, part Call of Cthulhu, and part Paranoia-- all at the 700 point level! The book details The Company that works behind the scenes, and The Conspiracy that keeps it hidden. Players have the opportunity to become operatives working behind the scenes and handling situations that civillians just couldn't deal with. I feel somewhat Illuminated just from reading this book. I'm just itching to start a Black Ops campaign in my group!
pros and cons.......2000-01-27
My feelings on this title are mixed. It is well written and organized. The idea is interesting (basically an rpg version of the Men in Black movie). It has very limited usefulness in any other type of campaign. The characters are very powerful (700 points). They do not cross well and are sort of hard to handle for a GM. Buy this is you loved Men in Black, but otherwise I would reccomend gurps illuminati.

Customer Reviews:
More Like "Incomplete".......2007-02-07
This book was a starting point, but was not "Complete" by any means. I was hoping this book would delve into specifics, such as how to go about obtaining contractors to have a coffee bar built, or give real life statistical examples of day-to-day coffee bar operations. Understanding the author(s) cannot possibly account for everything one would experience as a coffee bar owner, it would have been nice to get a picture. The good thing about the book, as stated earlier, is it gives ideas of things one should think about- such as payroll, hiring tips, color schemes, etc. but again, they're just starting points. It will be necessary for me to purchase another book to build on this one......bummer
Well-balanced, lively, informative, and entertaining.......2006-03-17
One of the things that struck me most about this book is that it seems perfectly balanced. By this I mean that it covers all the general business angles of running a coffee bar, but it never loses sight of its coffee-oriented focus. While there's certainly plenty of information that people running other businesses would find useful in here, you'll never find yourself thinking that you could have gotten the same information out of a more generic business or restaurant business guide. Everything focuses on the particular application of principles to the unique issues and problems that face the owner and operator of a coffee bar. Even when discussing cross-promotion and various forms of publicity the book discusses things that are likely to work best with your products and services.
You won't just find information in here on business plans, licensing issues, equipment, suppliers, staffing, and publicity however. There are guides to roasting beans (in case you want to create your own blends, or just want to understand what you're buying), creating a wide variety of coffee drinks and related treats, and cultivating repeat customers.
In addition to the vast wealth of information, the attitude with which this book was written is fantastic. It's practical yet positive, realistic yet optimistic. It livens things up with a dry wit yet never allows the humor to get in the way of the information it's trying to convey. It will make you excited about even topics like marketing your business without ever coming across as empty cheerleading.
I quite enjoyed reading this book, and have to firmly remind myself after reading it that no, I really am not the kind of person who can go out and start such a business. Because after reading all of this handy and fascinating information, the prospect is delightfully tempting!
Deserves 10 stars.......2006-03-10
This is a must for anyone who plans to open a coffee bar or shop. It not only provides all the necessary information for menu, location, prepration of specialty coffee drinks, everything you need to know about running a business is included. The descriptions of employee training manual and employee handbook, how to hire and fire, as well as too many vital things to mention, have me reading it again and again. This book will be a useful tool for months (years) in the future.
From what it's really like to run a coffee bar to legal issues, sales, shop equipment choices, kitchen layout and more.......2006-03-03
There's plenty of money to be made in the coffee business and if your dream is to get out there and run a coffee bar, you're in luck: Complete Idiot's Guide To Starting & Running A Coffee Bar provides all the basics on how to do so. From what it's really like to run a coffee bar to legal issues, sales, shop equipment choices, kitchen layout and more, much of the book is very specific to the coffee industry and provides a wealth of specific business advice.
