Great for quick reference.......2006-12-15

"Back in the good old days" the pony club manual was all one book, but this guide still gives easy to understand diagrams and explanations of what everyone riding needs to learn. I think it's great for adults and kids alike.

Basics for Beginners--Old news.......2005-08-18

This is a basic primer for beginners and children, but it is reminiscent of books I read thirty years ago. The sketches are good and the explanations clear. I wanted more detailed information. You can find this info along with a lot more basic information from other books. I felt it was drasticly overpriced, unless funds go to some charity as a fund raiser. I expected more than this book delivered for the money.

What horse people really need to know!.......2004-01-14

This is where to find the information on horses that you really need but no one ever properly explains. This book puts it more clearly than any other source. When you take lessons or go to shows, you hear about conformation, movement and soundness, but you really need a primer like this to understand what people are talking about. After you read this book, you could converse with a judge like an expert.

Great book for Pony Club kids.......2001-02-10

With my daughter being in Pony Club and me being joint DC for our club this book is recomended reading for our members. I can see why it is very helpful and an easy read. So people that don't know much about conformation will be able to get it. I give this book 5 stars as well as her other books.

i'm writing this review specifically to contradict the previous review. this is a VERY well detailed regional guide, with a devoted chapter for every caribbean state and numerous recommendations in every price category. i actually used this during a caribbean trip this past summer and found its information quite helpful.

if you are looking for information on cozumel or playa del carmen, or other caribbean-facing beach towns in mexico, buy a travel guide for mexico. the complaint from the other review is the equivalent of buying a travel guide to texas and then complaining that ciudad juarez was left out.

Limited coverage of the Caribbean.......2002-08-29

WARNING: If you are planning a trip to Cosumel or Playa Del Carmen-in the Caribbean, you will NOT find any information about these places in this book. Someone should sue Fodor's for calling the book: "Fodor's Caribbean", since it does not encompass the entire Caribbean! I am very disappointed and plan to return the book.

There are a lot of print errors in this book. Nearly all the equations are not right. I asked some other persons who also bought this book. This problem is very common. May you find a solution about this problem?

Student's perspective.......2007-09-05

I bought this book as required reading for a class. It's pretty clear and easy to understand, although I have the advantage that my professor is one of the authors. Concepts are explained well, with examples.

The major problem with this book is that for some reason, all the horizontal lines are missing from the equations. So there are no fraction bars, and it's really hard to tell where an average is meant, as opposed to a random variable. I wouldn't recommend this book to someone without a background in basic statistics, because the math would be nearly impossible to follow.

If you are choosing between several editions of the -Opium Eater-, this one is the one you want.

True, it does not have Alethea Hayter's introduction, like the Penguin edition has; that being a point in that one's favour. But here you -also- get the entire -Suspiria de Profundis-, which is in many ways more beautiful and interesting than the Opium Eater itself. -Levana and Our Ladies of Sorrow- must surely be the single greatest prose poem ever written in English.

The -Suspiria- was intended as a sequel to the -Opium Eater-, and those who enjoy the one will want them both.

A masterpiece from a brilliant yet ignored philosopher.......1998-12-17

This masterpiece of literature is a fascinating account of the pains and pleasures of opium as well as an autobiographical account of his youth. This books illustrates that sometimes moral or other world issues are not always in black and white. A sensitive and beautiful man, de Quincy's great book is a treasure!!!!
