Another fast paced thriller from Gerritsen.......2007-10-04

I am a huge fan of Tess Gerritsen. This book is another great example of her intelligent and faced paced story-telling that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you haven't read any of her prior Rizzoli novels some of the character interaction may be confusing, but the story itself is great!

The story itself involves several murders which orignally seem very thinly connected, but as the pieces of the puzzle fall into place and each new murder is factored in, the way they are related will you leave you gasping in shock!

Top Notch Thriller.......2007-10-03

I am a fan of Tess Gerritsen and I like all her books but this is my favorite. I see some people didn't think it was 'up to her standards' but I disagree. I liked it because Gerritsen did a good believeable job putting together an interesting mystery. Also it had all my favorite ingrediants for mystery...high adventure, it was scary, it had good characters and so on. I would love to see this as a movie!

I was a bit letdown by the book. It certainly has its moments and the author writes well, it just wasn't quite up to standards.

The book does move fairly quickly and there were several chapters that held my interest more than others.

Jane Rizzoli, Boston homicide detective, gets called to one of the most gruesome crime scenes of her career. A killer has entered a young woman's house and killed her in a brutal fashion, leaving body parts in various parts of the house and what appear to be satanic symbols throughout. Along with Maura Isles, medical examiner, Jane and her fellow cops try to solve the clues left behind by this monster. But tragedy strikes again soon and this time it hits close to home. Who is this monster and what will it take to stop him dead in his tracks before he kills again?

Gerritsen's sixth Rizzoli novel is formulaic at best. The plot is not particularly original and the pages turn rather slowly. To make matters worse, the reader cannot even get excited by the characters as they are all completely miserable in their personal lives and relationships which only serves to slow the plot farther. As a former big fan of Gerritsen and this series I am reluctant to write her off, but this novel did nothing but disappoint.

A Real Page Turner.......2007-09-07

This was my first Tess Gerritsen novel and I'm certainly glad I picked this one up. Two Thumbs up. I read this on a very long, boring plane ride and it made it seem like minutes. I was disappointed when I landed, couldn't wait to get to my hotel room to finish it.

Dr. Gerritsen knows her craft. The tension heats up on each page! Her characters are well developed, dialogue is superb and plot just rolls along to an explosive conclusion! I've already purchased two previous novels! Can't wait to dig in!

this book is great..and it is not for Dumb people or people who doesn't read much becowse have a diferent kind of vocabulary...But Klaus mann best romance is PRETTY GOOD.The way of he tell the history for us,and the way that he describe the characters(Mainly Heindrik) IS PERFECT AND VERY VERY Sarcastic,at the first pages,he really use the sarcastic vocabulary to show us how are the nazy and important party

Very sad book, more for the author than for its characters.......2001-02-28

This book is very good as a people study. It has interesting characters whose personalities are well-described. Most of the characters are based on true family, friends and acquaintances of Klaus Mann, and he draws them very well. He vividly presents the personalities and the atmosphere of artistic life in late Weimar Republic.

However, this is supposed to be a political novel at heart, and here Mann comes across as hopelessly naive and self-indulgent. He is obviously not familiar with politics or economics of Germany. I think this was because he grew up in a overprotective artistic and intellectual atmosphere which stunted his independent development. This cluelessness results in a helpless and angry attitude of the author and of the book. I was saddened to find out that Klaus Mann committed suicide in 1946 because he was just too overwhelmed by the catastrophy that befell his Germany. It's unfortunate, because he missed the greatest period of German rebirth that started in 1948 and continues even today.

The Murderer's Fool.......2000-07-28

An absolutely fascinating book. The actor Hendrik Höfgen becomes the symbol of the "untrue, unreal regime" by selling all his higher ideals to the mith of fame, subsquently loosing himself in the process. Many things are extraordinary about this book: - Klaus Man wrote the book in 1936, never the less in reading it I felt he new exactly what was going to happen in Germany (and Europe) and the bitter end it would take. - The way the stage figure Höfgen parallels the political development of Germany. (In one scene he is attemting to figure out how he will play Hamlet and quarrels with the vision of the Dane. Mephisto-Höfgen is not able to grasp the role, for he has not suffered for his ideals, he cannot understand a Hamlet. He no longer can think that way.) - ... It is in deed hard to describe this book... But I find it a must for everyone interested in theatre and how "free" art can be. May be. Should be. Could be.

This book is excellent because it features "Grand Galop Chromatique", a piece virtually impossible to find anywhere else. The notes are reasonably good quality, and it contains other pieces less common such as Fantasia and Fugue on the Theme BACH or Gretchen. I recommend this book to all who are liszt fanatics, like me.

Infuriatingly difficult, with numerous complexities, complicated passages, and music writing that often times does not make any mathematical sense. Even at those rare moments when the music appears not quite so excruxiating technically, there are endless harmonic and melodic nuances to take into consideration. Fast, furious, and often seemingly impossible, even the best of pianists have trouble with the genius that is Liszt. That said, this book is my absolute favorite. If you can survive the inevitable shock and frustration which come upon first seeing this book, you will find a treasure well worth all your effort.

This book grabbed me from page one and wouldn't let me go until the very end. This book makes the reader stay up until the wee hours of the morning every night until they've finished, which makes it an automatic classic in my world.

If you like suspense and shock, I'd highly recommend this book.

I've read this book a number of times & have always enjoyed it. I guess I'm one of those people who can read things over and over again. If you can handle a little trist into the occult you'll read this from cover to cover in no time. I'm a big fan of the author and have a number of his books & although I would recommend them all - this would be classified as my favorite. Take a chance and read this book - I promise you'll love it.

It's possible that this book only appealed to me because I'm a pianist with a 'heathly' interest in the occult, but what would be the reason everyone I leant my copy to felt the same way?!

Fred Mustard Stewart is a writer who can pull you into his books, making the strange believable, and the impossible jump out at you right there on the page (and for some, in your dreams over the next few nights).

Not recommended to anyone who thinks they are in danger of being possessed, this is a great book from the first word of Chapter 1 right up to the last fullstop. If you find it, buy it. If you find two, buy both and email me, as someone liked my copy so much I haven't seen it again.
