This isn't your typical bass tips book. It's that and so much more. Yes you will gain valuable knowledge as to how to catch more and bigger bass. Shaw truly is a master and his tips are golden. But he also offers insight into what it takes to be a professional angler, into life, into fishing in general, and the history of bass fishing. It's a biography and more and it stands heads above the numerous books in this genre.

The title of my review is evident throughout this fine book. Anyone serious about bass fishing should read it. I've read my copy about 4 times already (since 1998 when I bought it) and it never seems old. This is a MUST have.

Small but Powerful.......2003-02-12

I give this book a 5, and I own a lot of fishing books.

When I first purchased the book it seemed a bit small, would it be worth it? It was.

In short chapters it discusses how to improve your fishing, tournament ethics, and family fishing. That's a lot of ground.

Tired of all those birds nests in your spinning reel? Why not follow Shaw's advice and cast and tug your line gently. No more snarls. Shaw doesn't use the word ethics but that's what he's talking about for tournaments. Read it, and you'll fish differently with your buddies. As for family, Shaw's kind remarks about his wife, kids and dad are special.

I didn't realize it until now but this is a great kid's book also. It works on different levels. Hope the review helps.

At 47 years old I am new to bass fishing. As a trout fisherman all my life I have never been a fan Bass fishing! This book has given me all the basics of how to catch and understand Mr. Bass in very easy to read format. Plus it offers an outlook that will change your point of view of life and fishing. An author I would really like to meet!

Not well researched at all . . ........2001-05-09

I strongly disagree with the previous review, I found this book very poorly researched. For example in the review for The Sanctuary located in the East Village it was never mentioned that the group that runs this 'yoga' place are the Hare Krishnas. This is certainly something I would have like to have known before I went there. This was just one of a number of things I found. I like the concept of this book but the author's methods and research are very shoddy.

This series is amazing, and never leaves you at a loss for whatwill happen next, but the suspense is overwhelming! Tag and Walkertogether make the strongest pair of friends I have ever seen in a novel. Their lives span centuries and their stories capture you! I strongly recommend this book, and the others in the Walker of Time series, to enjoy over and over again as I have!

Action sequel beats the original........2000-04-02

This sequel easily got 4 stars. In the beginning Tag the main character travels through timefrom 1250 to a lot of different times. All through that time he protected the canyon he lived in with his best friend from grave robbers. In the end he finds his dad and the canyon is protected. I thought that the author characterizied Tag and the people he met well. It is very suspenseful and made me read on. This is a very good book to read if you like the Indian culture or action books.

In Neural Engineering, Chris Eliasmith and Charles Anderson provide a synthesis of the disparate approaches current in computational neuroscience, incorporating ideas from neural coding, neural computation, physiology, communications theory, control theory, dynamics, and probability theory. This synthesis, they argue, enables novel theoretical and practical insights into the functioning of neural systems. Such insights are pertinent to experimental and computational neuroscientists and to engineers, physicists, and computer scientists interested in how their quantitative tools relate to the brain.

The authors present three principles of neural engineering based on the representation of signals by neural ensembles, transformations of these representations through neuronal coupling weights, and the integration of control theory and neural dynamics. Through detailed examples and in-depth discussion, they make the case that these guiding principles constitute a useful theory for generating large-scale models of neurobiological function. A software package written in MatLab for use with their methodology, as well as examples, course notes, exercises, documentation, and other material, are available on the Web.

sloppy linguistics.......2006-06-27

Rather than revue the stories, I think it is more important to note that while the English versions might be grammatically correct, the Russian versions are way out of whack. My wife is from Russia, and she has noted more errors than should ever occur in any book. I can only assume that the writer of the Russian versian was a student of the language rather than a native of Russia. I strongly suggest that you avoid using this book as a platform for for learning the language.
