Very informative, beautiful photos.......2001-05-02

This is the perfect book for an armchair traveller to Tanzania. It does a wonderful job of showing what the country has to offer, from culture to wildlife to history. The photos are stunning, the writing well-crafted.

This is *not*, however, a book I would choose to take with me when visiting the country. While it does provide some information on transportation and accomodations (mostly high-end), it is not geared towards the traveller 'on the ground.' Do buy this book and read it before you visit Tanzania, but take the Lonely Planet or a Rough Guide along for the trip.

Not quite as outdated as the rest of Drouet's work........2000-07-25

This was the fourth part of Drouet's revision of the Cyanobacteria. He was a botanist of the old school, and he lumped most of the existing genera and species together because he believed that most of the morphological diversity in this group was due to different environmental conditions and not to genetic diversity. This belief was based on unpublished data, so most researchers, botanists included, ignored his work. Some great drawings. May be of interest to researchers of this obscure group of Cyanobacteria because it is one of the few studies comparing them.

Covering a broad spectrum of colonial life, this book goes from Apothecary to XMas, using photographs and drawings to educate and entertain.

Every page has something fun to learn, but the best suggestion is "Y for your Colonial Alphabet Book, with a few suggestions for creativity.

For students of 18th century history, or for ahyone who just enjoys a beautiful book, this is a must-buy!

Learn about the daily life of Colonial Americans.......2003-11-07

Using an ABC book format, we learn of various aspects of colonial life in America: dress, trades, daily living and even games that children played. Just enough text to keep the attention span of kids aged 6 and under. Illustrations are drawings and photographs. A nice addition to learning the history of our United States of America. The content focuses mainly on daily living such as who does what type of job and how people live, such as what their kitchens were like, how they cooked, and about how they dealt with the hazards of chimney and roof fires. Slavery is touched on very briefly and it is implied that all Colonials owned slaves.

This book presents important applications of soft computing and fuzziness to the growing field of web planning. A new method of using fuzzy numbers to model uncertain probabilities and how these can be used to model a fuzzy queuing system is demonstrated, as well as a method of modeling fuzzy queuing systems employing fuzzy arrival rates and fuzzy service rates. All the computations needed to get to the fuzzy numbers for system performance are described starting for the one server case to more than three servers. A variety of optimization models are discussed with applications to the average response times, server utilization, server and queue costs, as well as to phenomena identified with web sites such as "burstiness" and "long tailed distributions".

This collaboration between Wordsworth and Coleridge signaled the beginning of Romanticism in English poetry and announced all the important themes and techniques of the movement: the healing power of nature and art, the importance of "ordinary" man and woman, the pervasiveness of the supernatural in everday life, etc. The book also broke old rules by incorporating prosaic, common language in the poems.

Sometimes the poems are mawkish and strain for effect, but for the most part they are powerful and moving. Most famous of Coleridge's contributions, of course, is "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner", with its admonition to respect ALL of God's creation. But even lovelier is "The Nightingale", a paen to the restorative power of art.
