Nature Bound Pocket Field Guide.......2007-01-13
NBPFG has good information and I fully appreciated the pictures of the different plants. It was written in such a manner that makes it easy to understand for Teens and Pre-teens who have a desire to learn about hiking and camping.
Concise, thorough and practical..........1999-08-27
I have used this book since it came out in 1990 and continue to find it handy in the field. It covers everything you need to know for survival in the North American woods. Everyone who goes backpacking with me wants one! The photos of the edibles/poisonous plants are most excellent, as are the write-ups & historical uses. It easily fits in a cargo style pocket or in your pack. You'll find first aid and basic survival skills discussed in detail...no fluff.

This combines simple, easy to use instructions on basic survival actions that any hiker or camper can use with a great color-photo index and directions to edible and poisonous plants, and a first aid guide. If you only want to carry one little book, this is a great one to choose!
A great, portable plant identification guide.get it........1998-07-27
This Book has more edible and poisonous plant identification info than any other pocket guide i've ever seen.Where bigger tomes many times ue line drawings which are less than useless for identifying plants,Nature Bound has actual photos!Also brief preparation information and survival instructions that are sure to help someone that finds themselves lost in the wilderness.The fire starting in particular is codensed,but much better than I would have expected in a nature guide.The size is very handy;it will fit in the smallest buttpack, or even pocket.You will actually have it when you need it!I bought mine in 1987,and it's still the best i've found.
Excellent presentation of edible & poisonous plants of N. Am.......1997-12-22
I previously owned this well prepared reference work on edible & poisonous plants of western North America. The survival information occupying the first 20+ pages is quite weak on useful information to actually survive under winter conditions; poor (i.e. cold & inefficient) shelter concepts, unclear knot photos, fails to credit the Roycroft emergency snowshoe design (see instead Northern Bushcraft by Mors Kochanski). However the plant information is extremely well laid out with a concise & complete format complimented by excellent photos in a field portable size. Highly recommended for wilderness users with an interest in useful plants. I lost my original copy, found it here (Amazon is amazing!) and immediately ordered 2 to replace it.

She knows nothing about writing a resume and cover letter!.......2005-03-20
When I briefly reviewed this book I was starry-eyed and I thought: "My Goodness, this author knows nothing about writing a resume and cover letter, or how to pass an interview. "The good practical advice" is only 5 pages out of 220 and usually the real, legitimate reviews are NOT for a topic, which is covered by 2% of a book's content. I don't know for you but I doubt that from Daily Mirror has said something like this about this book or the reviewer whoever is he or she has NOT read the whole book in details. The content which is dominated by several huge directories with dry statistical information really needs to be spiced up with numerous caricatures all over the book. Well, I want a step-by-step system and valuable content which will help me to get a cruise ship job and give me enough details for the industry. The only book which met these criteria is Cruise Ship Job in 14 Days. Thanks to it I easily got a job! Check it out because it is 10 times better than this one!
What's so funny Ms. Sandra Bow?.......2005-02-24
Working for 12 hours 7 days/week for several months on a cruise ship is NOT funny! Competing with 100 and more applicants for a single position is NOT funny! Your 3 pages with common sense tips on how to get a cruise ship job are NOT funny! Your shorter than Cynthia Ossenfort's job descriptions are NOT funny!
The caricatures all over your book ARE funny. The "Top 10 silly questions from passengers" ARE funny. The "10 things your mother never told you" about men on cruise ships ARE funny. The 2 years old addresses and phone, fax numbers are NOT funny! All those years you have worked in Entertainment Department are immediately obvious from your book. However from my 11 years in Sales and Marketing let me tell you something. People only laugh at comedians. They DON'T buy from them.
Disappointing.......2005-02-23
There are more than 10 funny pictures which are up to 1 page long while the book contains only 3 pages on how to write a cover letter and resume although its description says: "describes 150 different jobs at sea--and explains how to get them". I am quite disappointed from this book, the super short job descriptions and the humorous style of the author!
Good match with Cruise Ship Job in 14 Days!.......2005-02-03
Working on Cruise Ships is a well written book on working and living onboard of a cruise ship. However there are only few pages on how to deal with cover letter, resume and interview. That's why if this is important for you consider- Cruise Ship Job in 14 Days, which is entirely focused on these 3 topics.
The best advice I can give you is to ask yourself what actually you are looking for. Information about what is to work and live onboard, how to apply and get a cruise ship job or both? In the first case a cheaper option is Working on Cruise Ships. In the second and also for the first is definitely Cruise Ship Job in 14 Days. In the third is to buy both matching books.
Only 3 pages with tips on how to apply!.......2005-02-02
I thought that this book in addition to description of the work and life onboard provides detailed information on how to write a cover letter and resume as well as to pass an interview. Unfortunately all I found about this were 3 pages with common sense tips. I think that instead of having 15 caricatures and funny pictures long 1/2-1 page the author had to provide detailed information on these 3 crucial for successful applying topics. That's why if you really want to get a cruise ship job search for another book.

Educational Excellence!.......2000-07-27
This is an awesome book. My kids (4,6,9,11) were not at all interested in science, but once I propped the book up and started with a simple experiment (vinegar and baking soda!) they were intrigued and inspired to want to try other experiments. We've even picked up Volumes 2 and 3. I highly recommend it for all ages.
Backyard Scientist.......2000-04-02
This is a very user friendly book to encourage a child's love for science. Based on hands on projects, it makes a child not only participate but see science happen before their very own eyes! This is one of the best books for teaching younger children to explore and use their thinking skills. It also uses basic materials that most households have on hand, which is always a plus.
