5 out of 5 stars The Michael Jackson that Michael Jackson doesn't want you to know.......2007-05-26

I love Michael Jackson, but who the hell thinks it's o.k. to sleep in bed with little boys? There is more to it than that. This book is a good look behind the scenes in Michael Jackson's life, from the point of view few fan's, other than little boys, get to see. To Michael Jackson fans--Just read the book with an open mind, don't be a fool to overlook who Michael Jackson really may be. If he is a nasty pervert, like he would want anyone to know, right?

THIS BOOK IS TRASH! WILL YOU PEOPLE NOT SEE THAT THE MAN IS INNOCENT? HE WOULD NEVER EVER EVER DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT. ALL THOSE ACCUSATIONS ARE FALSE AND YOU CRAZY PEOPLE NEED TO SEE THAT WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS WRONG. yOU ALL JUST NEED TO DO SOMETHING TO JUSTIFY THE FACT THAT YOU STOLE MJ'S LIFE AND MONEY. HIS HARD EARNED MONEY. REMEBER HE STILL HAS REAL FANS AND WE LOVE HIM AND BELEIVE IN HIM. HE IS #1. [...]

Like Jackson or hate him, if you want to see what happened during the first child molestation claim from the family's viewpoint this is the book to read. Raymond Chandler, the uncle of the victim and brother of the victim's father, narrates this tale for the reader. He shares conversations, feelings and even encounters, both positive and negative, with Michael Jackson fans.

Is this book biased? Of course it is. It is told from a family member and insider. But knowing this, All That Glitters gives a perspective on this settled case that has been missing for many years.

You don't need to interested in the Jackson allegations to enjoy this book. In fact, the one person who finally bought their own copy after reading mine had no interest in Jackson at all. This book is, more than anything, a sad saga of how the possibility of riches and stress of a possible criminal trial tore apart a family being held together by the thinnest of strings. It illustrates how those on the opposite side of the table used father against mother, victim against parents, and so much more. In the end, there were no winners.

It is on my must-read list, and not because its about Michael Jackson, but because it is about humanity.

The book is all nonsense. Want to read a book about Michael? Read Letters to Michael Jackson.

1 out of 5 stars worth negative eight stars.......2005-09-20

Oh my god, this book completely sucks, I mean this book is only for people who dont like Michael Jackson, but everytime I heard this story it's completely different. If you asked me it sounds like the kids uncle is sexually attracted to the boy.And isnt it kind of weird that this mans story changes everytime he tells it. And let's be real, if a weirdo supperstar did this to your son you'd take him to court an expose him for what he is, not take a giant settlement, that only says two things. 1. money is more important then your childs well-being, 2. he really was telling the truth, he must have cut them off, cause in the book it says that the dad knew something was going on, but he didnt do anything, he only chose to do something when Michael cut him off. Those stupid people should really plan it out the next time they try to frame a celebrity. So if your a person who enjoys reading books by closet inset case uncles and lies go on and get this book.

Book Description

In the long history of professional boxing there was only one man who fought both Rocky Marciano and Muhammad Ali. There was only one man who recorded an astounding 141 professional knockouts. There was only one man who trained both a young Ali and heavyweight champion George Foreman. There was only one Archie Moore. Moore's vast career and exploits are finally chronicled in "The Long Sunset: The Life of Boxing Legend Archie Moore, highlighting his seven-decade boxing career. Author and veteran boxing biographer Mike Fitzgerald spent several months with Moore before the boxer's 1998 death in an effort to capture the full life story of one of the 20th century's most colorful and accomplished athletes. Moore's opponent list reads like a "Who's Who" of boxing: it includes nine world champions and seven Hall of Famers. Starting his career in the middleweight division, Moore moved up in weight class in 1945. Ultimately he dominated the light-heavyweight division, winning his first world title in 1952 (at age 39) and successfully defending that title for nearly a decade. The versatile Moore often fought at heavyweight in the 1950s, twice challenging for the heavyweight crown, including an epic battle with Marciano in 1955. Following the 1960 Olympics, Moore took over training duties for Ali (known then as Cassius Clay). The two eventually parted ways before their fight in 1962. Retiring from the ring in 1963 after compiling 194 career wins, Moore remained active in boxing for the rest of his life, helping guide George Foreman to the heavyweight title in 1973 and overseeing his legendary comeback in 1987. Moore was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990. Archie Moore'slife wasn't just about boxing, however. "The Long Sunset also spotlights his Hollywood career in the 1960s, his five marriages, and his beloved "Any Boy Can" youth organization, which reached underprivileged youth. Featuring a foreword by the "Raging Bull." Jake LaMotta, who provides his own fond memories of Moore, "The Long Sunset: The Life of Boxing Legend Archie Moore is certain to provide a never-before-seen side of one of America's all-time greatest athletes.

5 out of 5 stars Definitive biography on The Old Mongoose.......2004-05-20

"Ageless Warrior" is a definitive account on the life of boxing legend Archie Moore. Author Mike Fitzgerald masterfully weaves Moore's 200-plus fights and his personal life into an engaging and evenly-tempered biography. Until now, most books written on Moore tended not to let the facts get in the way of a good story. Fitzgerald, with the cooperation of Archie Moore and his immediately family, finally tells the true story of the "Old Mongoose" with pleasing results. If you're an Archie Moore or boxing fan, this book's for you.

5 out of 5 stars Superb narration about the early years of motion pictures........1999-05-27

Filled with adventure, romance and intrigue coupled with its historical setting this book tells the story of the early background players in motion pictures. Although it revolves around the authors father, cowboy, stuntman Jack Montgomery the tales she tells are indicative of a way of life that are long gone as are most of the background players of the golden era of western movies. It tells of the "real" cowboy migration of the western plains to become the "reel" cowboys of motion pictures and the code that they brought with them. This book will make you laugh and cry; it will fill you with excitement; provide insight to the disdain for human and animal care by early Hollywood. This book answers the question, "Where did they come from and how did they do it."

3 out of 5 stars The easiest ever Chaord Book.......2001-10-11

This book is very easy to read and understand. I am a 63 yr. old woman and I have small hands and short fingers. If you do, you will not be able to play most of the chords listed in the book. It had a lot of bar chords that require you to bar across all 6 strings which I can't do. Then jump over a fret to the next string. The book will probably be fine for someone with large hands and long fingers. If you don't have them don't buy this book. There are very few chords in this book I can actually use.
I was looking for some simple easy chords or a way to play a chord that even a child could play, this book doesn't have them.

I played the first two Myth computer games in to the ground, and loved almost every minute spent doing so. The book is a good read even for those who might not GM a game. It gives you insight in to enemies in a way that some of the other GURPS books do not, being such an all in one world. The Myth world however, is very self contained. The magic system is different than what most GURPS magic uses, with mages being sometimes infinitely more powerful in one area, but at the same time extremely focused. The races are somewhat limited, and although you could bring in time travelers with alternate tech or races, a large part of what makes this interesting is the horror aspect of it. There are shambling undead of course, but one of the things this world excels at is very focused evil. The undead are sometimes ambidexterous sprinters with four foot long sharpened Escrima sticks in each hand . . . and they want to dice you just for living. All around, very good character development for the land, and its inhabitants

            Book Description

As co-founder of the Excellerated Learning Institute, Robert Kiyosaki has had ample opportunity to observe our public education system. Like many concerned educators, he finds it woefully inadequate for the job of preparing young people to cope with the demands of modern life. In this new edition he dissects the reasons why schools fail and describes solutions that can put every child in touch with the innate joy of learning. At a time when more children are failing in school-and more schools are failing children-Kiyosaki introduces a note of sanity and hope for improvement.

5 out of 5 stars Rich Dad review.......2005-10-06

I have been avid fan of Robert Kiyosaki since reading his first book "Rich Dad Poor Dad" in the spring of 2004. Not only have I read every book he has authored but I have been reading other works recommended by him. Mr. Kiyosaki has an incredibly simple writing style that makes it easy to capture his message. Mr. Kiyosaki does not suggest one should not go to school, however, he does point out there is more to education than sitting in a classroom and "parroting" the teachings without question. Mr. Kiyosaki not only talks the talk but he walks the walk.

5 out of 5 stars This Book Is A Wake Up Call To The Educational System.......2004-09-15

I discovered this book, after reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad. The title of the book was intriguing to me, and wanted to read about it myself.

I have to say that I learned alot about our educational system in this world is very corrupted. I felt a sense of anger after I completed the book, as well a sense of relief. I never did very well academically in elementary or secondary school, and felt a failure by all means, in which I could not excel in the instructor's eyes.

What I learned from this book were these things: that failure in the school system is a bad thing, we have to be conditioned to memorize quizzes and tests, and that the students who struggle and fail, are pushed aside and rejected for the better students. I have read that the people who have achieved the greater success stories are the ones who were looked at as failures.

To me learning should be a natural thing, don't get me wrong I crave life long learning. However when learning is forced, that is not a good thing. People in the business world fail, but they learn from their mistakes and build themselves back up, whereas in school, if you fail, they think you will not amount to anything.

The way the educational system works, is that if it ain't broke don't fix it. Personal finance and money management are overlooked in the school system to be taught, because we are taught how to excel and get a secure safe job. There is no encouragement to succeed in being and thinking entrepreneurial.

To the people who have given negative reviews about this book, I encourage to re-read the book, and have a second opinion on your comments. This is a wake up call for everyone, and something needs to be done about it, if anything will ever be done about it.

Thank you Robert Kiyosaki for writing this book.

4 out of 5 stars "Surprisingly helpful advice!".......2004-06-20

As a teacher, I was curious to find out just how much 'damage' this author was going to do to our educational system! After reading it, I discovered the answer: no lasting harm. This is a practical and interesting book that really IS quite helpful. It fills in the 'gaps' that we, as teachers, unavoidably leave in our students' lives. I found myself really liking the suggestions and organizational structure of this book! It contains useful lessons and useable advice for life--much like 'The Mizraim Principles' (based on the life of Joseph the Hebrew) does for Christian readers. I has hoping the information presented within these pages wouldn't hurt my profession. Now, I realize--it just might help! (...)

5 out of 5 stars Lose your stereotypes/fear of the rich in 1 book¿?.......2004-05-25

Years after reading Rich Dad Poor Dad, and 4 of Robert's other books-- I picked this one up with no intention of learning anything solid in addition to what's in his more recent books. I was wrong to no end. --- "don't judge a book by it's cover" should immediately be replaced with "don't judge a book by it's TITLE" .. case in point: "if you want to be rich and happy, don't go to school?" .. the question mark at the end is what most people seem to overlook .. I have had over 10 comments on the book's title and none were positive... "go get a job and get rich" was one reaction. fortunately my mind has already unlearned the core of bs manufactured by our 'school' system (indoctrination system ;-) ).. so the comment didn't stick..though these utterances always tend to shatter your thoughtwaves temporarily..we're only human =o)In fact I would go so far as to say that, having read hundreds of books in my lifetime, this one is the most necessary to our survival at present. It's ironic that one small book could be powerful enough to crack open a tumor of dogma such as the brainwashing taking place in our schools... like many societies and institutions...this one has no place in our society. It was only a short while ago that everyone started getting jobs.. before that everyone was their own soverign and did something useful. And people act like being independant is the mew fad of the millenium.. rediculous but what else could you expect. -- Let them spend 8 years on their Ph D - i'll be a step ahead of them just by not pursuing it... probably a lot further. **NOTE: this title plus the following will reverse even the most intense brain washing caused by our educational system..not all are related to creating money...but we must also take into account the indoctrination that takes place with the 4 basic groups of academics also =)Think and Grow Rich......Richest Man in Babylon....The Secret of Life.... The Creature from Jekyll Island...Pentagon Aliens, Secret Life of Plants...Simple Steps to Impossible Dreams...Mushrooms and Mankind...Cure for All Diseases... MEdical Mafia...Alice in Wonderland and the World Trade Center Disaster... LISTEN LITTLE MAN!....Territorial Imperative....Path of Least Resistance....Lots of reading ... but at least you'll be able to use the material... would you rather go back to school?

            4 out of 5 stars Book Summary.......2004-01-02

Robert Kiyosaki wants to break the cycle of winners and losers in society by re-educating our youth. This process begins by providing people with the financial understanding necessary to succeed in today's society. Kiyosaki remarks, "Given the structure of modern society, the neglect of this information is comparable to neglecting to teach farming skills in an exclusively agrarian society" (10). The purpose of education is to provide our children with the skills needed to succeed later in life. The ability of education to respond to the times should be the marker by which we judge its overall utility and effectiveness. The fact that school still ends at 3pm and that students have off during the summer testify to the failure of our educational system to transition itself from the needs of the agrarian age to that of the new information age. The information age speaks the language of money and ideas. According to Kiyosaki, recognizing the importance of money in today's society is essential:

...in the past 100 years, money has become almost as necessary for survival as air, water and food. In today's world, money is synonymous with survival...To say that money is corrupting and evil in a world which runs on money makes about as much sense as saying that pigs or potatoes are corrupting an agrarian society (72).

Our educational system should adjust to reflect this new reality. By meeting the special needs of today, we are better able to develop the potential within all of us, thus preparing each of us to make a unique and valuable contribution to the world.

Kiyosaki believes that by embracing the Malthusian doctrine of scarcity the American educational system stifles the "gift of genius" that each child is born with. He rejects the zero-sum game begun in school and perpetuated afterwards permeating throughout all walks of life. Educators must realize that scholastic achievement is but one measure of genius, and the long-term effects on a child who may be a musical or mechanical genius, but not an academic genius, are disastrous. This inevitably leads to many societal problems that are ultimately education-based. Kiyosaki demands action now and asks, "Must the problems land directly on our own doorsteps before we can care" (48). Change can only be wrought once we accept that there is no such thing as a stupid child.

The fundamental principle of human learning rests upon making mistakes and learning from them. More effective learning requires engagement of not only mental learning, but also emotional and physical learning. Kiyosaki believes that today's education system errs because, "Of all the methods of learning that are available to us, memorization is the most monotonous, the least challenging, and the most boring" (127). Many blame teachers or professionals for our system's failings. However, 94% of the time it is the system itself that has failed.

Some ways in which our system fails us includes asking the wrong questions and accepting only one right answer, and by promoting specialization, rather than generalization, to early on in life. School teaches specialization. While this is good for corporations, it is bad for you. Specialization leads to decreased opportunities and obsolescence. Therefore, beware of the detrimental effects of specialization. Learn to become a generalist by committing yourself to lifelong learning and self-improvement in many areas of your life. Concentrate on such practical business matters as production, sales, accounting, organizational management, and finance. Most importantly, affect change by leading by example.

Although he is an educator himself, Robert Kiyosaki doesn't think much of schools--at least those of the American variety. As the author sees it, we have continued to educate our children using the models and methods of a century ago. Not surprisingly, then, we lack what Kiyosaki calls "the basic skills necessary to be successful, happy, contributing citizens." Can his own ideas help to reverse the damage? Certainly that's the belief of Newsweek editor David Hackworth, who describes this book as "a revolutionary primer for every concerned parent, educator and all leaders from the White House to City Hall."

            5 out of 5 stars A life-changing book about education.......1997-10-30

This book changed my life profoundly by altering my perception of myself and the people around me. The school system rewards kids who can remember things, but being able to regurgitate facts in an exam does not by any means guarantee a successful career or life. The kids who are artistic, mechanically talented, emotionally perceptive, or naturally intuitive, will be branded "losers" by the education system if they don't do well in exams, even though these skills are at _least_ as valuable as memory. The world would be a much better place if everyone read Kiyosaki's masterpiece.
