Fantasic Book.......2005-12-31
Simeon Rice has been my personal favorite player since he started playing for the Fighting Illini bck in 1994, and he has continued to be now that he is playing for the Buccaneers. This book has really opened my eyes to what goes on in the mind and life of an NFL player, plus it shows that he's actually a human being, and not just a product for someone to exploit. It's fantasic!

Book Description
For more than sixty years, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans personified the romantic, mythic West that Americans cherished. Blazing a trail through every branch of the entertainment industry-radio, film, recordings, television, and even comic books-the couple capitalized on their attractive personas and appealed to the nation's belief in family values, an independent spirit, and community.
Raymond E. White presents these two celebrities in the most comprehensive and inclusive account to date. Part narrative, part reference, this impeccably researched, highly accessible survey spans the entire scope of Rogers's and Evans's careers and highlights their place in twentieth-century American popular culture. In a dual biography, he shows how Rogers and Evans carefully husbanded their public image and-of particular note-incorporated their Christian faith into their performances. Testifying to both the breadth and the longevity of their careers, the book includes radio logs, discographies, filmographies, and comicographies that will delight historians and collectors alike.

outstanding biography and reference on these two popular culture figures.......2005-12-03
Roy Rogers and Dale Evans' fans and students of popular culture will appreciate especially the voluminous and what must be virtually definitive references and documentation on the more than sixty-year career of the cowboy couple. Although some of the material goes back to before they met and became married. The eleven appendices begin on page 117 and run through the start of the notes on page 485. In addition to the filmography and discography of each noted in the review's heading, the appendices contain material on each's radio and television appearances, song compositions, appearances in comic books, inspirational books by either one or both (many written with a coauthor), and a "log" of more than 275 "A Date with Dale" radio programs between 1984 and 2000 noting location, topic, song, and guest; these were 30-minute "spiritual talk shows" hosted by Dale Evans. The biography preceding the appendices goes over the success of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans in the different areas of popular entertainment while also devoting chapters on them as symbols of the mythic American West while being at the same time exemplars of the wholesome family life which was a prime social ideal in the post-WWII years from the late 1940s to the early '60s when they were at the height of their popularity.

Disappointed.......2004-05-28
I usually find the Idiot Books very helpful, but not this one. The only thing I found remotely useful was the last chapter about starting a "magician business". I was looking for fun tricks to use on young children, in my opinion most of these tricks are for adults. I found one "dot" card trick in the book that young kids might appreciate. There were alot of card tricks & coin tricks.
Basic stuff, but not always clear.......2003-06-17
This book has a lot of basic magic tricks, mostly with cards and pencils and such. Don't expect to learn the real stuff like those revealed by the Masked Magician. Biggest problem with this book is it's poorly written. A lot of procedures are a little hard to understand or follow the first couple times through.
The book that started it all..........2002-04-14
This book relighted my interest in magic. When I was little, I had a great interest in the art of conjuring, but it went down in my elementary years. In 7th grade, I found this book in the library, and one thing led to another. Next thing you know, I'm an expert magician at 13! This book is great. It teaches you not only tricks, but basics in the art of magic. Two thumbs (and a thumb tip) up!!
A great read.......1999-10-16
A great read, regardless of whether one is just starting out in magic, or is merely looking to recreate those precious moments when your taste and instincts are becoming formed. Written by the man who retired the Parlor Magician of the Year [award at Hollywood's Magic Castle]the very first two years it was offered, this covers all aspects of the art, from theory to booking advice. And, in between, Tom presents some very nice wrinkles on standard effects. -- Gordon Bean, librarian at The Magic Castle, from "Stacks and the Bean's Talk" column in the Magic Castle Newsletter, October 1999
Excellent book for begginers.......1999-07-24
This book provides history into magic, the greats, basics that you can't live without and of course many, many magic effects. This is my first book in my collection and it has helped me a great deal. Every time I look back at it I am able to find something new.

Oh my God...........2007-02-13
Is NLP really effective ? Well, may be. But, in my opinion, this book is a truly non sense.
Do not repeat my mistake. Buy something else. And not about NLP.
Disorganized caotic book.......2007-01-23
If you're going to buy this book read this first.
The book is very disorganized because you just have to read and read and at no time you can find subtitles, or bullet points, or any remark that allows you to know that the writer change the point or subject. Every chapter is jus a flow of 5.000 words with no pause...is just terrible.
I just read the first 50 pages and it was so difficult to follow the plot that I got tired of it and just throw it away. I just waisted my time and money.
This is one the worst books I have ever read.
What on earth is this book???.......2007-01-18
Let me say that I'm a good salesman and read loads of sales & marketing books to pick up whatever tricks and tips that would work for me and my business. It's got to be said though that most of the books are the reading equivalent of watching paint dry.
This one is different, very different indeed.
Other reviewers have commentated on the writing style and they're right about the difficulties, but after the first few pages you get into it and go with the flow.
For what it's worth here's my take on the book:- I have never, ever, felt so enthused after reading a book. I'm not going to say that it's the best sales book that you'll ever read, but, so far, it's the best sales book that I'VE ever read. You don't just read this book, the book affects you. Weird waffle I know, but it's the only way I can describe it.
It seems from these reviews that you will either hate it or absolutely love it. That means that it's probably worth reading and making up your own mind.
Incidentally, I came to this book because it was recommended in a book by Derren Brown who is probably the best stage hypnotist/mentalist in the UK.
If you want to feel great, buy this book!.......2006-11-20
As the title of this review proofs: I have read this book and understand what they are talking about. And indeed they are talking. I had to get used to this kind of writing, but there it is. The writers however do warn you about that: " While it may seem that some of the sentence structures in this book read as grammatically incorrect, they are written for a purpose, as NLP and grammar do not necessarily share the same structure". This book is great fun to read and you can tell by just reading it that the writers had a lot of fun writing it. The picture of Bandler on the inside cover tells it all. So, if your in the business of selling something (and who isn't these days) buy the book, its good fun. It does help when you love cars and are on the verge of buying, or selling one!
Teaching on many levels.......2006-11-10
Richard Bandler is my favorite teacher of all time. He tells stories teaching in metaphor making learning easy and fun.
