Book Description
Experience the Power and Glory of a Trip to Heaven!
Heaven is a very real place. It has often been pictured as a place where everyone sits on fluffy clouds and plays a harp for eternity. According to the Word of God, however, this picture is far from the truth. So what is heaven really like?
In this book, Jesse Duplantis shares several events that have happened to him in his relationship with God--events he calls close encounters of the God kind. One of these events is his trip to heaven in 1988. He tells of the wonderful things the Lord has in store for us, both in heaven and on earth.
"I believe that if people could see the treasures that God has stored up for them in heaven, they wouldn't have such a hard time understanding God's will to prosper and heal them while they are on earth . . . . Anything that you can think of, anything you could want on earth has already been given to you there."
--Jesse Duplantis
As you read this book, you will discover the depth of the compassion and love God has for you. Your faith will be strengthened and encouraged as Jesse reveals answers too many questions about this wonderful place:
* What is Paradise?
* Are there children in heaven?
* Will I recognize family members?
* Will I really have my own mansion there?
* What is God's great Throne Room like?
* Plus much more!
It is God's desire that everyone spends eternity in heaven. So enjoy these close encounters of the God kind for yourself and join Jesse Duplantis in spreading the wonderful message that Jesus is coming again soon!
Customer Reviews:
I watched the DVD, and I'm getting this book!.......2007-04-27
I just watched the DVD... I was skeptical at first, but then God spoke to me, and softened my heart, and I ended up crying like a baby by the end.
My grandma experienced seeing angels before. She was dying of an untreatable disease, but an angel came in a form of little babies who were worshiping God and she saw them and was instantly healed. My grandma never read the Bible because she didn't know how to read, but she knew how to receive Jesus with a childlike heart!
Jesse shares his experience in rather childlike manner as well. I believe that what he saw was real because it made a lot of sense to me and it went alone with the Bible very well! I realized that fellowship is what's important! Through what Jessee shared, I only saw that people and angels living in Heaven constantly communicated with each other in a most lovable manner imaginable! They are filled with joy just for the fact that they're there in Heaven, and it's real, it's no joke!
People loose faith, and try to make things up to match things with science and such! So some start thinking that Heaven is symbolic, that it's not really real, etc, etc... But Heaven is real! And Jesus is real!
Some people forget that God created us in His image, and that He is real, that He's not some energy or simply light! God can be seen if allowed! He did appear to Moses, and He did take Elijah up to heaven on a chariot! Why don't we realize that it all actually happened, and God is the same always!
As I watched the DVDs, I felt presence of the Lord, and I felt closer to Jesus! I remembered how when I was a kid, my mom would always say, "nick, every time you do something bad and you don't repent, it hurts Jesus". As I grew up I stopped believing in that, but Jesse reminded me of it! Jesus actually does gets hurt every time his people go astray! Jesse reminds us that Jesus has feelings, and He loves people so much that every time there is a murder happening, or hateful words fall out of someone's mouth, Jesus cries!!
Also, we tend to think that everyone in heaven is so uptight, and serious and such, but it made a lot more sense when Jesse explained that David and Abraham were very nice and friendly! Even Jesus acted humble with him! Which is amazing! That only confirms that Jesus is truly a lamb! We can hurt Jesus, or we can love Jesus, and even though he is glorious and powerful, he is in fact a lamb, a Son of God who longs for a friendship with his people, and that's us!
We often pray, "Jesus make me happy", when in reality all we have to do is simply have a relationship with Him! That's the message I got from Jesse!
Another message I got from his, is that JESUS IS COMING SOON!
To all the people who posted negative responses to this book, I say, JESUS IS COMING SOON, get your blind folds off of your eyes, stop judging people, learn to love, clean up your act, and get yourself ready for the Kind of Kings is coming!
Must really Be True !!.......2007-03-27
I read the book and was blown away by the descriptions of things in heaven. He did this in 1988 and wrote the book. In the Book he talks about walking on a 100% pure gold sidewalk in heaven and being able to see through it as it was translucent. Scientist didn't/couldn't make 100 percent pure gold until the mid 90's and guess what. ONLY 100 percent pure gold can be seen through like mirror sunglasses, just like the book said.. How could he have known this.. unless it was true. many other parts of the book touched my spirit.. It's a must read for A TRUE Beliver.
This is a wonderful work of fiction........2007-03-09
Jesse Duplantis is a very, very funny person. With his imagination and humor he should be great entertainment for satan and his demons when he really does depart this life.
sad but true........2006-06-26
To all those who read the word to acquire a greater relationship with the Most High God, and those who take the responsibility of discipleship joyfully and all others, I greet you. Simple matter this book of Jesse's. With two scriptures we can continue our prayer for this brother . Those who have ears let them hear.
Colossians 2:18
Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
I sat in the audience in Vegas at one of jesse's sermons. This scripture is what came to mind.
Finally let's take care of the notion that a man was in the presence of God, or has seen the Holy city.
1 Timothy 6:16
Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen
It's clear that false prophets will come, Jesus said this as well as other writer's in the word of God. Whether jesse is or not doesn't matter. Salvation is individual and judgement is also. The only ship you must get right is the one you ride on! Search the scriptures and right your own ship. jesse going to pluto or plano texas does not matter. Where are you going?
Romans 10:9 helps with this and remember that 2 Cor 3:3 says,
Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
Paul declares believers to be letters of Christ. What are others reading when they see you?
This book is great!!.......2006-04-07
God took Jesse to heaven to give people hope. Those that are botherd by this book need to take a look at there love walk. In the bible God transported Elijah to different places and took him up in a fiery chariot. Why would it be different now. God is the same yesterday today and forever!

This is a truly incredible message! Jesse Duplantis is always annointed and entertaining, but this album which recalls his supernatural encounters is breathtaking!
Book Description
When you have a child that doesn't fit in, what do you do? Debra Ginsberg knew that her son, Blaze, was unique from the moment he was born in 1987. What she didn't know was that Blaze's differences would be regarded by the outside world not as gifts, but as impediments to social and academic success. Blaze never crawled. He just got up and walked when he turned one. He called his mother 'Zsa Zsa' until he was three. By kindergarten, he loved the music of Miles Davis and Ella Fitzgerald. He fears butterflies and is fascinated by garbage trucks. With the same honesty that made Waiting a success, Raising Blaze: Bringing Up an Extraordinary Son in an Ordinary World chronicles Debra's experience in raising a child who has defied definition by the host of professionals who have sought to label his differences. Ginsberg introduces us to a remarkable child and her own unusual childhood. She writes about a family which shows us the redemptive power of faith, humour and love.

The Beat of a Different Drummer.......2006-02-12
What would the world be like if we all didn't want to stand in line, sit on our name at circle time, or refuse to eat sandwiches? I imagine that there would be some chaos in the world, but I don't think that the world would come to an end.
This is the story of a little boy who walked to the beat of a different drummer, and his mother's struggle with the school teachers and personnel to hear the beautiful song that he was playing.
The book gives plenty of insight on what it's like to be Debra, but we don't get much insight on what it's like to be Blaze. Of course, Debra wrote the book so it's only logical that we would know her better. I would have liked to have heard more about Blaze outside of school. What did he like to do at home, what kind of conversations did they have? Most of all, what is he doing now? Is he in high school, or being home-schooled? I'll just have to wait for the sequel.
good book.......2005-08-12
I am not a doctor but from reading this book about Blaze, I suspect his problems are caused by a combination of the breathing problem at birth and thimerisol (mercury) in vaccines given to babies at that time. I tried to email Ms. Ginsberg about this but her web site was down.
For all the children who think Tuesday is blue.......2005-06-02
Our society loves to pigeonhole kids, and the educational system is the worst. My own experiences with public schools led me to home schooling in the 1970s, which makes my mother a pioneer. Back then though people looked at her as though she had just arrived from Mars. I made the leap to private school at twelve. Twenty-one years, three books and a master's in professional writing later, I can see the educational system hasn't gotten any better. In its defense, the US educational system tends to squeeze the life and curiosity out of students and teachers.
Even Debra Ginsberg, who spoke last year at the Palm Springs Writers' Conference, admits that she fell prey to the same blinders people often show towards kids who don't fit the "sit down and be quiet" mold in public schools. (The liberal elite expresses horror at the elitism of private schools while sending their kids to them, and horror at religious schools while ignoring the discipline and respect kids can receive.) She has difficulty with teachers offering diagnoses of "problem kids"---a valid point. but she has sympathy and respect for the teachers themselves. Principals are often portrayed as bad guys, but one principal of Ginsberg's son Blaze's school writes upon retirement:
"It has been a real pleasure to know you and Blaze. I have appreciated the benefits of the positive approach your entire family takesm as each person helps Blaze to grow while making it clear that he is well-loved. You have done a great job of supporting him this year. He is in good hands as a member of your family."
Single-mom waitress Ginsberg has a strong, loving family of eccentrics that make Katharine Hepburn's family (as depicted in "The Aviator") pale in comparison. Coming out of people who think outside the box (and yet know how to work the system), how could Blaze be other than extraordinary? Sure, he doesn't color inside the lines or sit in line, but the overwhelming positive embrace of his abilities and personality in this book shows that there is a place for everyone, even in a world where we can't see past the surface and glibness masquerades as wisdom. Ginsberg offers no excuses for her son; she doesn't ask for any pity or portray herself as a victim. This is not a whining memoir. She shows how her family helps Blaze to grow and to conform in the way that everyone has to ("Go along! Go along! Go Along!" mocks Henry David Thoreau in THE NIGHT THOREAU SPENT IN JAIL) for pleasant social interaction, but she also accepts and acknowledges that Blaze has a right to be different, e,g, not eating sandwiches. So do we all.
There are marvelously funny, poignant moments in this book, and Blaze's poem "Breanna Crying" as well as his songs are not to be missed.
Honest & Courageous.......2005-05-04
This book is a must-read for all moms of "extraordinary" kids everywhere! It is also a great book for family members and teachers of kids on the PDD/Autism spectrum, to help them understand what we go through as moms, and the frequent confusion/uncertainty of any diagnosis.
I was encouraged and inspired by her bravery in standing up to the "system", her willingness to sacrifice for her son, and moved to tears many times by their struggles. I admire her honesty in revealing parts of her life she must have known many would judge or be critical of. The result is a book we can truly relate to, written by a mom who is imperfect (like the rest of us), who simply wants what is best for her son.
Really great view into a quirky autism spectrum family.......2003-10-13
Debra Ginsberg doesn't like labels, that may be the main theme of the book.
I do like lables. I have one, I am autistic, I have another, I have Asperger's syndrome.
I would say that Debra's son probably could get an AS diagnosis and may have one by now. So in spite of her view of labels, I think it's a good book to read if you have AS yourself or have a child with AS.
The descriptions of good, bad, indifferent and truly hideous school district staff and teachers are great. I had forgotten about the power that teachers can have over families and the visciousness that they can dump onto parents and kids. That all came back to me in reading this book. It's post traumatic IEP syndrome. (yes, some teachers are fabulous)
I'm glad she gave such a detailed view of her extended family and I'm very glad that she and Blaze had them for support.
I hope Blaze is doing well.

Book Description
India produces more films than any other country in the world, and these works are avidly consumed by non-Western cultures in Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and by the Indian communities in Australia, Britain, the Caribbean Islands, and North America. Jyotika Virdi focuses on how this dominant medium configures the "nation" in post-Independence Hindi cinema. She scrutinizes approximately thirty films that have appeared since 1950 and demonstrates how concepts of the nation form the center of this cinema's moral universe. As a kind of storytelling, Indian cinema provides a fascinating account of social history and cultural politics, with the family deployed as a symbol of the nation. Virdi demonstrates how the portrayal of the nation as a mythical community in Hindi films collapses under the weight of its own contradictions-irreconcilable differences that encompass gender, sexuality, family, class, and religious communities.
Through these film narratives, the author traces transactions among the various constituencies that struggle, accommodate, coexist uneasily, or reconstitute each other over time, and, in the process, reveal the topography of postcolonial culture.

Book Description
A nation's musical and cultural life is determined to a large extent by the manner in which music is passed on to the next generation. That process connects generations by nurturing the dynamic interaction between musical heritage and musical innovation and is central to shaping a nation's cultural identity, spiritual wealth and even policy making.
The nature of this interaction is examined here in a variety of contexts that range from traditional music education in community based settings, to the teaching of classical music in public and private schools and academies. Tracing the cultural and academic journey of traditional music from the remotest corners of Irish society to the mainstream of Irish musical culture is one of the most significant accomplishments of the book.
As a national study "Passing It On" will appeal to those interested in the history of Irish music, culture and education. In the broader context, the study contributes to our understanding of how music's transmission is underpinned by the dominant ideologies, values and media of the time.

One of the best game guides ever.......2000-12-28
The X-wing Collector's CD-ROM Official Strategy Guide is one of the best game guides ever compiled, mainly because it goes way above and beyond simply giving up the secrets and offers a treasure trove of material to any Star Wars fan. This book has the typical stats for every ship and setup for every level that is in any strategy guide, but on nearly every page there is a high-quality CGI image illustrating what's going on. Additionally, before you even get into the game, the author gives a ton of background not only on what's been established about Star Wars characters and situations before, but he writes a whole story about the character you play in the game. And it doesn't stop there. Between every mission, every training mission, between campaigns, the story of your pilot, not told in the game, unfolds in prose form. Even though DeMaria isn't exactly the best author in the world, this book is great even just to flesh out the game by giving its characters and situations some personality and depth. You get detailed walkthroughs (Farlanders after-action report), sometimes with sidebars suggesting even EASIER ways to do things, which actually tie-in and work together with the story, as well as a clear breakdown of mission goals and whatnot. Unfortunately, all this story stuff ends with the original game. For the walkthroughs of the two expansions, Imperial Pursuit & B-wing, you just get straightforward walkthroughs. But hey, that's what this is -- a strategy guide, not a novel. It's easy to forget. This is definitely a book worth buying whether you're stuck on a level in the game or if you just can't stand the long wait between Star Wars novels. Heavily Recommended.
A very complete book.......1999-01-05
This is a really nice book. It includes extremely detailed information on EVERY mission (TODs 1-3), and winning strategies. Plus the storyline doesn't disappoint. If you fly X-Wing very often, or are in the Rebel Squadrons, then you need this book.
Intriquing.......1998-07-17
This book provided at least a possible way to beat the first three tours of duty presented by X-Wing. I beat these missions before I bought the book, but I bought it anyway. The book has an interesting story line to go along with it's tips. If the computer reacts in the manner that the strategy guide presents then you will easily beat the game, but if the game uses a different scenario, and it does happen, you can be overwhelmed. Overall, it is a good book.

Not a big fan of Episode I? Hungry for some good ol' original trilogy action? Well, X-Wing Alliance has exactly what you need. This game is the concluding chapter in the acclaimed X-Wing series from LucasArts, a collection of starfighter simulation games in which you get to take part in ferocious interstellar dogfights in the Star Wars universe. Like its predecessors, X-Wing Alliance is an impressive, addictive, and incredibly challenging game that will put all of your sci-fi piloting skills to the test. To help you get the most out of the game and overcome the seemingly insurmountable challenges that pop up throughout, Prima's guide offers support for everything from basic flying and dogfighting skills to complete ship descriptions. You'll also find an array of information on the many ships' systems you'll have to master (the energy allocation system, for example). Each of the game's 50 missions--including the climactic battle of Endor--is described in detail, both through a narrative and a down-and-dirty walkthrough. The book even includes a CD-ROM containing a new film room feature for the game, along with films of all 50 missions (which let you see how they should unfold). All in all, this is one valuable resource for any aspiring starfighter pilot. The Force may be with you, but this book could prove quite handy as well. --Mike Ryan

Not just a techy book.......2002-08-11
I am not an avid player of games on the computer and certainly not action games like the one associated with this book (but I do love the Star Wars movies). My son left this book on the floor in the living room and out of curiosity I opened it. It was delightful! The middle section of the book is filled with adorable and humorous stories told by an R2D2 robot. Wonderful! The more technical sections of the book relate to the game itself and became very useful once I tried playing the game. When a book gets me to play a game with my son on the computer it says a lot. Thank you Mr. Drake and Mr. Barnett for the chuckles! (My son thanks you, too.)

Very Good, but could have been Excellent...........2000-02-13
I won't repeat what other reviewers have already said. Basically, I'm in complete agreement with them. The story line is great, the hints are helpful, and the included CD with films of the missions is tremendous. I really wanted to give it 5 stars, but it omitted a few things I felt were invaluable based on the "Tie Fighter" hint book that came before. First, there was no listing of all of the possible ranks, and the point scores needed to achieve them, nor was there a listing of the possible skill levels (novice, veteran, ace, etc.) and the points necessary for those. It did not document the scoring mechanism - the bonus points earned by playing at the hard level, and the penalty for playing at the easy level. Secondly, it did not reveal the bonus goals, and point values, for those missions that offered them. Lastly, and I state this with reservation because the authors simply may not have had access to the information, there was no detail of the AI instructions that described how the computer-generated opponents would function in each mission. These instructions allowed the player to know what conditions would trigger a new type of craft appearing, or how many waves of enemy craft would be created. This information was extraordinarily helpful for winning the most difficult missions in "Tie Fighter". In its defense, however, the book did go into a lot of detail about how to set up single and multi-player skirmishes. All in all, an excellent guide, but it fell just short of being perfect.
Buy this CD to get the Films on how to win each mission!.......1999-07-14
The film room is ont he expansion disc or downloadable from LucasArts on the net but those films on the campanion disc really help supplement the great text in the book.

An excellent companion to the hit game X-Wing, this reference guide provides all of the requisite mission information, strategy advice, ship descriptions, and hints. Inexplicably, the game's protagonist, Keyan Farlander, details this rich information--compiled with the help of two of the game's developers--in an on-going first-person narrative. Even the most devoted of Star Wars fans will be skimming this fan-fiction to extract the juicy bits, of which there are plenty. Some fans will find the "novella" format interesting, but most will be more intrigued by the statistics-filled appendices.

Great book! Has descriptions of every single mission!.......1999-05-06
When I bought X-wing, the strategy guide came with it, so I thought it would suck. Boy, was I wrong. It is full of everything you need to know to play. I wouldn't recommend playing without it. It is a must. I know it's out of print, but definitely try to get one!

This book is an excellent resource for gamers who are having trouble with missions. It contains the mission objectives for all the missions, it also has winning conditions for each mission. The book has screen shots from each mission, and a storyline involving the main character.

Judo, often translated as "the way of gentleness," is a century-old martial art that employs quickness and agility to help devotees overcome adversaries who seem--at least on the surface--to be more powerful. In Judo Strategy, David B. Yoffie, a professor of International Business Administration at Harvard Business School, and Mary Kwak, a Harvard research associate, turn these principles around for a corporate audience, showing how they can also be used to help companies battle bigger and stronger competitors. The metaphor has been used before in business and economic examples, the authors concede, "yet no one, to our knowledge, had tried to use judo as the basis for a systematic way of thinking about strategy." In the pages that follow, they begin by delving into the three primary tenets of the discipline (movement, balance, and leverage), and show specifically how each could be applied in business. They then explore the way three prominent New Economy companies (Palm Computing, RealNetworks, and CNET Networks) have successfully put the strategy into practice. Finally, they offer insight into fending off others who employ the judo strategy. In all, an original and practical management approach. --Howard Rothman

Customer Reviews:
One of the best business book.......2003-10-21
The book is very good and give the reader a broad perspective and 360 degree view of business model. It tells you how to think on another side of what we thought. Tell you the examples from the past. Even though it forces some example to be an example of the strategy, it's still good to know what we should look. I believe this is one of the best book for any business man who has 360 degree perspective.
Good..........2002-09-08
Several good ideas in this book on marketing strategies for smaller companies; that made the book worth reading. The author spent too much time on the discussion of Judo. The book contains some memorable phases such as "Don't moon the giant", which would have been good advice for Netscape to follow. Great discussion on how to use a large company's strengths against it.
Clever analogy with great insights.......2002-06-10
The judo analogy is a very clever way to explore how small companies can defeat large companies. I particularly liked the ideas of the "puppy dog ploy", push when pulled, and the concept of leverage. I highly recommend this book for managers facing big, powerful companies.
Hindsight strategy: Leveraging the Obvious to get consulting.......2002-06-04
The usual garbage. Let's find a firm which has succeeded (for example RealNetworks) despite small size, and force fit it into our facile strategic model. Then let's find a firm which has been creamed (for example Novell) and show (by a selective telling of history) how it failed to do what our stupid (but seductively named) model would have suggested. Repeat three or four times and you have a book.
It is easy to tell stories, but that is all this book does. The predictive power of this claptrap will be zero - and results, specifically future results, are all that counts. Prospective CEOs should look inwards and discover themselves rather than waste their time on this and similar books.
Maximizing Speed, Balance, and Leverage.......2002-05-03
In their Preface, Yoffie and Kwak explain that their book "is built on two broad metaphors that we hope readers will find compelling in thinking about the strategic challenges their businesses face. Our primary metaphor comes from the sport of judo, which originated in late nineteenth-century Japan. Judo requires quickness, agility, and the ability to outmaneuver the competition. Most important, in judo, unlike many martial arts, true strength comes from turning your opponent's weight and power to your advantage." The other principal metaphor is derived from sumo wrestling (i.e. making the most of one's strength and power") which the authors concede "can be a very sensitive topic for the very large companies that are most likely to profit from" techniques which such advantages permit.
Yoffie and Kwak carefully organize their excellent material within three Parts: Principles of Judo Strategy (Chapters 1-4), Masters of Judo Strategy (Chapters 5-7), and Responding to Judo Strategy (Chapters 8 and 9). In the final chapter, they offer and then explain five "Rules" to follow when pursuing a Judo Strategy: (1) Maintain a deep focus on your core strategy, (2) Stay on the offensive but avoid frontal assaults, (3) Plan and be prepared to pivot, (4) Look for leverage in the strangest places, and (5) Face the music. While pursuing a Judo Strategy, it is also important to remember that "judo is ultimately a zero-sum game, and business, often times, is not. Moreover, in judo, you can focus solely on a single opponent, while in business, other groups, especially customers, require your attention."
Clearly, Yoffie and Kwak fully understand the parameters of relevance of the two principal metaphors. Neither is a "bullet" (silver or otherwise) which always hits the designated target. Moreover, judo strategists may well find themselves in competition with judo strategists in another organization. In that event, those who move faster, are more agile, maintain better balance, apply greater leverage, and are better able to outmaneuver the competition will prevail. One of this book's greatest benefits is derived from what the authors learned during their interviews of various "masters" of judo strategy such as Jeff Hawkins and Donna Dubinsky of Palm Computing, Rob Glaser of RealNetworks, and Halsey Minor and Shelby Bonnie of CNET Networks. Not all of their circumstances and experiences are necessarily relevant to each reader's. For that reason, I urge those who read this book to focus on understanding the basic principles of judo strategy, then formulate a strategy (based on those principles) which will enable their specific organization (regardless of its size or nature) to move faster, be more agile, maintain better balance, and apply greater leverage so that it will outmaneuver its own competition. Together with those whom they interviewed, Yoffie and Kwak explain HOW.
