Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

great book on cleopatra.......2001-04-13
this was a great book on cleopatra. there is so much info. pages 113 to 151 are filled with documents. this book is not only filled with lots of good info but it has lots of pictures as well, at least one on every page. this book also gives you an overview on rome, but does not take away from cleopatra. it gives you just enough info on rome so that you will understand all the things around cleopatra. if you are interested in ancient egypt or cleopatra you should get this book. i bet you are asking why the 4 stars, well this book is very small it is a little bigger than 5 by 7. and the words are alittle hard to read. if the book would have been bigger it would have got five stars.
Cleopatra is the greatest.......2000-03-30
Cleopatra was the greatest.except why did she do suicide.exspecially naked.I wish she lived to see the world until she was the last person in the world.Cleopatra was a good person she cared and she loved every one of her citizens.Thank you for hearing what I have to say and good day.
Who Cares!.......1999-11-18
Who really cares what color her skin was? She was an extraordinary woman in extraordinary times. Personally, I believe she was white, but it really doesn't matter either way.
Extrodinary: gives you an overveiw and many details.......1999-07-10
I have read many books on Cleopatra. Many clutter your mind with information. This book does not give you too many names or details yet still supplies you with enough information to fully understand her life and troubles as well as the lives of those importent in her live. This is a must be read book that is simple and enjoyable yet information packed.

Good fact-bites, but coherency suffers from organization.......2005-12-21
This is a fact-bite-like presentation of the life of the famous queen. The bits are compelling, but they fail to link together to give a reader much of an idea of what Cleopatra was really like, and the speculations upon motivations come out rather dry. Human motivations and the personal story is lost in the organization, and since that is usually what makes a biography so fascinating, it is unfortunate. The DK Eyewitness-eque format works best for the thematic arrangement of information, not a narrative of a life. Still, it was fairly interesting reading (if disjointed), and it was put together attractively.
Here are some alternatives:
Beautifully illustrated biography for the same roughly the age group:
Cleopatra by Diane Stanley
For slightly older readers, a humorous but very compelling biography:
Cleopatra and Her Asp by Margaret Simpson
Beautiful and Interesting Book on Cleopatra!.......2003-02-03
I love this book, it give you lots of info about Cleopatra and it's beautifully illustrated.
Vivid Storytelling.......2002-06-06
Cleopatra is one of the most famous women to ever grace the planet. At 14 she watched her father flee for his life and saw people had suffered under the cruelty of her father. She realized her family was at war with the people it ruled.
As Ptolemy XII's oldest surviving child, she would become queen when he died. To protect herself, she made friends with powerful courtiers and prepared herself for government by learning Egyptian and used religion to support her claim to the throne.
Through this book you will learn how Cleopatra used her charm and intelligence to remain queen. You will see how she hoped to make Egypt the successful empire it had been when the first Ptolemies ruled almost 300 years before.
The story gets rather interesting when Antony is disgraced after the Battle of Actium and Cleopatra is afraid of his anger. She locks herself in her mausoleum and sends him a message saying she is dead. In despair, Antony stabs himself and then dies in her arms. Within a few weeks of Antony's suicide Cleopatra also died
There are also beautiful pictures of imaginary fantasy scenes by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, photographs of locations mentioned in the stories and information on plays and movies inspired by Cleopatra's life. This is richly illustrated and contains many fascinating facts about her life and the men she loved.

Book Description
"Every magnate in the country is indebted to [Harry Wright] for the establishment of baseball as a business, and every patron for fulfilling him with a systematic recreation. Every player is indebted to him for inaugurating an occupation in which he gains a livelihood, and the country at large for adding one more industry to furnish employment"The Reach Guide (1896).
This full-length biography resurrects perhaps baseball's foremost-unrecognized legend, "The Father of Professional Base Ball," Hall of Famer Harry Wright. The son of a premier cricketer, Sam Wright, Harry converted (together with his Hall of Fame brother George) to baseball after emigrating to America from England. Harry Wright went on to become one of baseball's most successful players, managers, and innovators. Among his lasting contributions to the game were not only the implementation of spring training, doubleheaders, and the modern uniform, but the advent of professionalism, which contemporaries contended never would have been successfully established without him.
Drawing on contemporary sources including his own papers, this book covers all of Wright's life: his arrival in America; his experiences with the undefeated Cincinnati Red Stockings of 1869-70; his relationship with his wives and children; his experiences in Boston, Providence, and Philadelphia; his death at age 60 in 1895; and his election to the Hall of Fame in 1953.
Customer Reviews:
the importance of Harry Wright.......2007-02-22
It seems impossible that in the rich history of baseball writing, never before had anyone written a biography on Harry Wright, a man whose contribution to the game prompted his admirers to call him the father of professional baseball. Christopher Devine provides the most in-depth factual account of his life to date, and in doing so, re-introduces us to one of the first great baseball men in America.
Uncle 'Arry and America.......2003-08-28
As the author of the July 2003 Cap Anson 1: When Captaining a Team Meant Something: Leadership in Baseball's Early Years (Tile Books), I was excited about recently coming across a copy of Mr. Devine's book. Anson and Wright were parallel figures in 19th-century baseball. Wright was a captain (player)-manager and later a bench manager, while Anson was almost entirely a captain (player)-manager. The difference was big, as the captain but not the bench manager, into the early 20th century, had the power to argue with the usually lone umpire. If you were a captain-manager, you pretty much had free reins. Because of that, and the existence of some original correspondence in the 1870s but not the 1880s, the first half of Wright's career is presented more authoritatively than is his second half.
Wright was someone people could like (and Devine presents him accordingly) while Anson liked to stir things up such as by making bold assertions. Devine's book is like a nice walk in the park, with lots of pretty scenery ('Arry even does some bicycling). Devine uncovered some new details about Wright's family, including some new photographs, apparently with the help of a direct descendant.
Wright also was an early innovator, such as in seeing that his players had good off-the-field habits and worked on physical conditioning. Anglophiles will appreciate his Victorian gentlemanliness.

128 pages of excellent movie info!.......2004-08-29
Thunderbirds may not have succeeded at the box office, but this book is F-A-B! It's 128 pages of pure info and great images, including some images you don't see in the movie at all, such as a wicked shot of Alan and Fermat on a hoversled. The book is very enjoyable for those who love to know as many details as possible.
This book is GO.......2004-08-07
I am a fan of Gerry Anderson and even tho the movie strayed from his concept, this book is great- you see how things were designed, built and chosen from the start. First rate.

Fantastic book..........2000-05-01
This Guide tells you EVERYTHING you need to know to do ANYTHING in the game. It's great. It even tells about things that don't pertain to winning the game, but are of interest or fun. You can find all the heart containers and items. It guides you step by step through each dungeon. Tells you how to defeat each boss. Then gives you a walk through of the whole game. And...contains a complete guide for "Legend of Zelda Links Awakening" also. I was thrilled to find this book. It's well worth the purchase. We were stuck at the first dark world dungeon and now we are over half way through Ganon's castle in just a few day's.
The best book in the whole world!.......1999-09-12
The game is easy to beat if you have this guide!!!! It tells how to beat all the dungeons and the bosses including Ganon!!!!I would add this to your shopping cart now!!!!
It was really usefull.......1999-08-24
I had lots of fun with the game
This book is the BEST players guide!.......1999-06-28
This Zelda players guide is the best Zelda guide. I bought the book before the game!!! It helps you get all the heart pieces and figure out the challenging dungens. Ganon is so easy to beat!!!!!! Make sure you add this book to your Zelda collection!!!!!!!
This book is a puzzle by itself.......1999-04-21
I bought this book thinking it would help me in solving LEgenda of Zelda a Link to the past. What I Found was a hard to understand guide, with no logical sequence between its chapters and it is really hard to relate the information in one chapter with another. Example: One chapter is only for bosses another one for items ... why not write a book that is step by step, including bosses and items as they appear throughout the game?

The vivid and moving stories of those interviewed illustrate the complicated dilemmas--including full-time family caregiving, sudden illness, self-employment, layoffs, and on-the-job injuries--faced by those trying to balance medical problems with housing costs and other daily necessities. This engrossing, accessible, and timely book concludes that our current health care system is leading to fundamental structural changes in American society.
Customer Reviews:
If you want to know what is happening in our country...buy it now!.......2007-05-07
This is not a work of fiction, it is horrifyingly real and it will keep you up at night unable to put the book down. Each chapter contains real-life situations that people across the country face as they struggle to survive without health insurance. These are facts you think can only happen to "other" people, but these others are looking more and more like us. Somehow, their lives still remain hidden from the general public, but this book deserves to be discussed on 60 minutes to make people aware of what is happening in our country. This book terrified me more than any horror novel ever could, because it could happen to any one of us at any time.
the rise of a "caste system" in the US.......2006-01-20
The authors strongly couch their presentation as attesting to the rise of a caste system in the United States. Where the caste consists of the chronically ill, infirm and marginally employed. Several members of this group are interviewed. In the MidWest, Mississipi and other regions.
A common symptom is a death spiral, whereby working class individuals, who might indeed have worked very hard, but then suffered injuries, fall into a feedback loop. Where they can barely afford health case. Except for emergency room admissions. A cruel paradox.
The book goes into how the stress of poverty and being ill can feed into and reinforce each other.
Another ironic aspect shown is how caregivers can often lack health insurance. A bitter scenario that is all too common.
Uninsurance is a real problem.......2005-09-13
Lack of insurance is a verifiable problem, and one can obtain more information from the Institute of Medicine which published 6 reports. I'd recommend starting with the last: Insuring America's Health-Principles and Recommendations and an article by Leslie Weatherly from HR Magazine: "The rising cost of health care: strategic and societal considerations for employers."
The uninsured is a fliud group: 80 million lacked insurance for one month out of 24; 23 million lacked insurance for the entire 2 years. (I'm a physician who went without health insurance for 4 years.) 45 million is the average number of uninsured each month. The majority of uninsured are non-Hispanic whites, and most are from families in which one person works. Blacks are twice as likely to be uninsured; Hispanics-three times. Foreigners' rate of uninsurance declines with increasing time here.
Small business owners often can't afford to provide insurance. Individuals either find the premiums prohibitive or they can't buy insurance at any price. Medicaid does not cover single adults and childless couples. Families lose coverage when the member providing insurance loses employment, dies or through divorce. COBRA can be costly (the premiums for my wife and I went from $750/month to $937 before we regained employer-based coverage). A recent study found half of bankruptcies were because of medical expenses, even among people with insurance.
Sadly, sad stories of peoples' suffering isn't likely to convince policy makers bought by special interest groups. The traditional Republican belief is "I got mine; it's your fault if you don't have yours." Medicaid has been framed as being wasted on "crack-whores having babies" when in reality the majority is spent on the elderly and disabled.
Change will come only when the pain is great enough to produce a mass-movement demanding a solution, and those spearheading the drive have more political savvy than their opponents.
The Death Spiral Of Persons Who Lack Health Insurance.......2005-06-12
40,000,000 - 50,000,000 Americans have no health insurance and another group of Americans of equal size are underinsured. Americans have to choose between food and medicine. Americans live in a land of opportunity until they have a challenge to their health. If you have a challenge to your health and if you do not have the best private health insurance you will enter a death spiral as the change in your health will drain away your money and your hope. It is a sad day - only in America, the land of no national health insurance.
