Do Not Buy.......2006-02-24
John Lundin has completely misrepresented the story of Gus Boulis. Although he makes a disclaimer in the front of the book, you are lead to believe the conversations the characters had are fact. His sources were not valid and his research is sketchy.

Superb tie-in with the film.......2001-04-18
If you're a lover of Taymor's unconventional movie, you will find equal delight in the book that accompanies it. Things like this are really quite rare. In my personal opinion, this is a bit of a treasure of a find.
The pictures alone are grand. And the word-for-word transcript of the text makes it perfect to read while simutaneously viewing the film. It really lets the impact of the weighty dialogue come out.
The introduction is of special interest to me- informative and insightful, it put the subject matter in context.
While I might have wanted more information concerning the behind-the-scenes goings on in the film, I find this a small quibble at best. Things this *unique* don't come around very often. Therefore, when they do, sieze them with joy.
Not only is Titus a powerful story, it is a beautiful film that speaks to our time. This book I found nearly as enjoyable as the movie. Like the other reviewer stated- if you liked the film, you will like this too.
I really am pleased in my decision to purchase this; I think you would be too.
Perfect Companion to the Movie.......2000-05-17
"If William Shakespeare were alive today, he would be writing and directing movies..." is the statement made boldly on the back of this book. Taymor delivered her vision of what might of been in the (highly underrated) bigscreen version of Titus, of which Titus: The Illustrated Screenplay, is based. This screenplay provides glorious color photos of key elements in the film, a complete word-for-word script, and tells just how Taymor brought the story from the stage to the screen. Fans of the cast may find some information lacking, and the book could have spent time detailing the costumes, but overall the book was hardly disappointing. The photographs are one of the best features of the book, most in full color and some spanning over two pages. These pictures show a great amount of the setting and costumes, as well as the emotions expressed in important parts of the movie, alongside bold print quotations that apply to the moment. What makes this a good companion to the movie though, is that it gives the full script of what is said in the film, often valuable to those that can't decipher the words directly from the actors' mouths. Shakespeare's writing can often be confusing to those not familiar with reading his stories. While there is some parts hard to understand, the book describes some of the meanings behind the characters' actions, helping to show what occurs. Some of Taymor's liberties are also pointed out, particularly the uses of anachronism throughout the storyline (to show how this story applies to modern times). Taymor takes some time to describe the process of making the movie. She goes into who is involved in the costumes, setting, score, etc. and also how the story became so important to her to make into a movie. However, there isn't a large amount of detail that could have been discussed in this part of the book. There is an illustration of a setting, but no drawings of the costumes, and little brought up about the cast behind each of the characters involved, which might have been of interest to fans. Despite the things that are missing though, the book is worth getting for what it does have. Those that enjoyed the movie will find this book equally enjoyable.

Excellent set of linked Planescape adventures.......1999-12-08
The Great Modron March is a well written set of adventures. The Modrons from Mechanus have started their march around the Outer Planes early, and this is used as the backdrop for several separate and distinct adventures. A few of the adventures are typical "defeat the evil guys" scenarios from other anthologies, but the Modron March allows for a new twist to them and also serves as the basis for some truly original ideas. The adventures are meant to be played in order, so they start with low-level adventures and build up to harder ones. Also, since it is an anthology, the DM can feel free to leave run other adventures between the scenarios without disrupting the plot. This is a must-have for any Planescape campaign, and can be used as the lead-in for another module, "Dead Gods."

If you want to spend a great time, then you'll love this march. In this book you'll know a lot about modrons and can visit many of the planes. The plots are quite good and fun. A MUST HAVE!!!!!
Get to know the modrons, and meet an invincible (?) enemy........1999-03-10
A good set of adventures centered around an unusually timed Great Modron March. Learn some new info about Modrons, and meet some interesting NPC's along the way. The whole set of adventures is introduced by a nigh-invincible basher that you might want to meet. Play through this one before going on to "Dead Gods."

This is a well organized text that is great to have on the shelf for making sense of your statistical output and for thinking about how to approach your research question. It's well written and neither too simple or impenetrable. A little short on statistical tables and diagnostics as compared to some of its peers.

This is one of the better text books I have ever come across. If you need this for a class, feel lucky that your professor chose this and if you are buying it for "fun," pick this one.

This is a great book and will greatly benefit any econ major. It has definitly helped me this year and will continue to in the future. It is very easy to read and understand - an excellent addition to any collection.
How can a book cost this much?.......2006-03-04
The book is over priced and the software does not work with apples. The software also has data limitations. If you have large data sets the software will not work. For all the econ students out there, I would do everything possible not to buy this product. Go look for used version or you can find the internation verion on the wed for cheaper.

Go-to book for regression analysis.......2005-07-01
Perhaps A.H. Studenmund wrote his book for economics students, but as a biomedical scientist, Using Econometrics is my go-to reference for applied regression analysis, period. I know of no other book on the subject that is more understandable, succinct and eaisly applied to real-world problems.
Very understandable introduction to econometrics.......2004-07-01
First of all I will admit, this is the only book I have read for econometrics. It was the book chosen by my professor for my eonometrics class while doing my undergraduate in economics. Having said that I recommend the book. I feel that it is a very good intro to a subject that can get weighted down in technical difficulties for the beginning student. Some people have complained about its lack of rigor or lack of proofs but I feel that is unjustified because all it really does is utilize statistical principles for economics. At my university, and I would assume most, stats was a prereq for this course and in stats you should cover the real nuts and bolts of statistical theory. This would give you your proofs and underlying understanding of the hands on approach this book gives for econometrics. I think that this book is good in that it does give, as it says, a practical guide to econometrics enabling the student to move on to the more analytically rigorous studies of the field. It doesn't overwhelm but leaves you with a foundational sense of understanding.
Fulfil expectations.......2003-07-09
That book goes straight to the point. First, the title of the book is 100% appropriate. It is about how to use econometrical tools in practice. Second, exercises are E-views oriented, which is also a good point given the user-friendly E-views interface. This book is a very good introductory book for applied econometrics. I've read some reviews criticizing the book for its novice approach and lack of theoretical ground. Well, I would have done so too IF AN ONLY IF the book title had been "Advanced Theory in Econometrics". But it is not!
Good Starting Point for Econometrics.......2003-05-31
In 2000, I wrote a review of this text. I still stand by my assertion that this is an excellent introduction to econometrics. One thing that I failed to mention in my 2000 review is that this book is good for people who have never seen econometrics in their life. Furthermore, don't expect to see proofs, theorems, etc. This book does not emphasize mathematics.
For a good introductory book that does incorporate calculus, some proofs, etc., get Gujarati's "Basic Econometrics" (not to be confused with Gujarati's "Essentials of Econometrics"). If you're only going to have one introductory book, and you want a mathematical treatment, get Gujarati. If you want an introductory book without a mathematical treatment, get Studenmund.
Warning.......2002-12-24
This is to econometrics what Lego is to housebuilding. Harsh, perhaps, but this book should be read as a primer before stepping in to the heavy stuff.
