John the Fearless, second Duke of Burgundy, is one of the more dramatic and puzzling characters among medieval rulers. He inherited the newly created duchy from his father, and defended and developed its power ruthlessly during his ducal reign (1404-1419). In the process, he allied himself with the English party in France, with whom he was supposed to have made an 'infernal pact', and came to dominate French politics; his manoeuvres led directly to his assassination on the bridge of Montereau in the presence of Charles, dauphin of France, who may have been personally involved. Indeed, the main theme of the book is John the Fearless's activities in France, which are seen in the light of the continued need to exploit French resources for the benefit of Burgundy. John also continued to build on the administrative and financial structures created by his father, which were the mainstay of the ducal power, and he had to deal with the restlessness of the Flemish towns, only recently made part of the Burgundian state.More than any other Burgundian ruler, it is John's personality which determines the course of events: violent and unscrupulous, one quality which John the Fearless completely lacked was prudence. He was a masterful opportunist, who acted impulsively with speed and decision, on the spur of the moment. In the end it was one of his own favoured weapons, political assassination, which was turned against him.

Important Work Available Again At Last!.......2002-12-17
Vaughan's series of books on Valois Burgundy have long been a staple for anyone interested Burgundian history and culture. After a long stretch of being out of print, and very difficult to find, these new editions are sure to be welcomed by many historians. Added to Vaughan's work is a fantastic new introduction written for the 2002 edition by Malcolm Vale (another historian I would readily recommend).
While these works may be older, and more recent work has been done on Burgundy, Vaughan's scholarship is still first-rate. A must for the bookshelf of anyone interested in Valois Burgundy, or Northern Europe in the late 14th and 15th centuries.

A flawed book, but worth the read.......2003-02-17
Here's a chance to read about a wrestler's first steps in the business. There is no bigtime "Wrestlemania" payoff at the end. Only the knowledge of more hard work and dedication to come. It isn't a well-written book. For instance, part the way through the book you find out she's married. Even later, you find out that she's been in the military. These and other things are important to the development of her story. They shouldn't be a surprise. I also found it a bit annoying when she gives advice as if she's an old veteran. That is something that Mick Foley, Moolah or Jerry Lawler can do, but not her...yet. Of course, she's a wrestler, not a writer. So, if you can look beyond those things, it's a good inside look at the struggle of someone who loves what she does, someone to be admired.

Very good book very well written. Interesting look at the current indy scene, should talk more about the inside of the business than describe her matches. The Precious Lucy story at the beginning of the book is accurate of the female worker I know, but it seems like she either going to discover that one promoter is not a genius or a great person. She also just might be looking to still work for him in the future and his working him in the book before sending him a signed copy. A must for all fans looking to go into the business.

Amanda Storm's book is a true look at wrestling. It's nice to hear someone on the inside admit that, although the physical aspects are real, the winners are determined before the match begins. It's also a wake-up call to those looking to get into wrestling. The sacrifices that need to be made when you're just starting out are tremendous. Great job Amanda! I look forward to your book on your second year in wrestling.

Amanda Storm's book captures the essence fo what it's like to break into professional wrestling from a woman's point of view. It has a lot of more grit and character than many of the "superstar bios" that have been published of late. This is a unique view of professional wrestling that entertaining and very well-written. Get it!

This is a great book. Guys like the Rock or Mankind can write a book but this is a really interesting look behind the scenes of pro wrestling that produces guys like the Rock or Mankind. Amanda Storm is very entertaining to read and I will definitely buy anything else with her name on it.

True the authors have tapped into the psyche of my father in ways that no one save my mother ever has, and yet, I think this is why I hate this book so much. This book flies in the face of boring academic work: the authors take a small cultural phenomenon and explore and expand it in interesting directions and to worthwile ends. Both playful and serious - excellent for students and scholars of the auteur theory or anyone who wants to learn something about good minds doing fun things. The authors show us that Allen Smithee is the workingman's Pierre Menard - and they capture some of that excellent Borgesian spirit. Check it out.

The internet marketing world is so overcrowded that it may be impossible to make consistant returns. This book does have decent info for beginers but i doubt anyone will get rich quick on the techniques described in this book. save your money and invest.
Inspiring.......2007-09-11
Over the years I have enjoyed reading everything Allen writes. In this book he builds on his idea of making money from multiple sources, and focuses of course on Internet business ideas.
Allen spends too much time, in my opinion, discussing the creation of an email list, which you then use to send ads to. This is fine for a long term approach to Internet marketing, but won't help you make money this week.

I first learned of the term Multiple Stream Of Income from Robert Allen the No Money Down guy. He pretty much coined the phrase all the way to the bank. I read his book a few years ago, it was the number one best seller on The New York Times Best Seller's list. I was so thrilled to get my hands on it I just knew that this was the long awaited manuscript that we marketers wanted to give it a test drive.
It was a good read, however it had too many twist and turns and it cost a bit much at the time to implement his methods from just one website, and it was not the results I was looking for. I knew there had to be a better way for us new marketers to reach that illusive extra income stream.
This Book Inspired Me For Many Years To Seach For A MSI Website:
I begin to wonder, can you actually make multiple streams of income online? I continued my search for the missing pieces of the MSI puzzle that would put it altogether; With the many product offers that promises you the world if you would try this program, and use it with this technique, and you'll surely be on your way to riches.
After several years of online seeking, I can now say I've been to the mountain top of internet marketing offers, and what I have come down with is this; there are many claims being made about multiple streams of income online that you can use right now in your marketing campaign to a steady flow of extra income. I found this unique website with multiple streams of income you can get from Google, Ebay, Clickbank, CJ; etc. All from one cool little website. Reading this was an ENORMOUS waste of my time. Half way through the book, I realized that I didn't know anymore about making money online than I had before. All Allen does throughout this book is talk about how great he is and how he did this, that and the other thing. He talks about all these so called wonderful marketing strategies, when really all he's doing is promoting spam. I'm not even ON his mailing list and I'm getting [...] from him in my inbox. It's disgraceful. I do not recommend you waste your money on this book.

Want to know his secret for making $24,000 in 24 hours? First you need to create a website and get thousands of people to sign up for your free newsletter. (He sort of glosses over exactly how he did that). Then wait a year or two to get your subscribers to trust you. Then send out an email selling something to your subscribers and sit back while watching the money flow in. It's as "easy" as that!
I thought his "Multiple Streams of Income" was a pretty good book. Good enough that I actually used some of his ideas in that book a few years back and still have some income streams from them. But this book was practically worthless. The ideas are outdated, the marketing strategies were obvious, and there was no real value from reading it.
If you really want to see what this book is about, check it out from the library and save your money on something else.

Boycott Robert G. Allen!!!.......2006-05-20
Robert G. Allen is a notorious and relentless internet spammer. If you should happen to somehow end up on one of his email lists like I did, he will send you several junk emails a day. Unsubscribing doesn't work, and trying to block the sender's domain is useless because the emails are sent from a different domain every time. The funny part is that the emails aren't even coded properly. They always show up as just a bunch of html code. Would you really take internet money-making advice from a guy who can't even code html properly? Anyway, his spamming practices are completely illegal and it's only a matter of time before the law catches up with him. But that shouldn't come as any surprise considering that mister Allen has been in trouble with the law before. He's had several run-ins with the IRS, lawsuits against him, and a chapter 7 bankruptcy. I would also stay away from his Nothing Down real estate methods. Many of those practices are illegal, and the president of the Nothing Down club in Atlanta wound up in federal prison because of it. Holly really helps put it all together in this book. I've known what should work together, how to do parts of it, but this book is leading me closer to what brings it all together. Wow! I am really excited about the internet again. If you're like me, you go through cycles like, well I'll do that next week or well, if I only knew more about this subject, if I only knew where to find the resources to make it all work, and on and on. This book teaches you what you need to know to make it work and shows you where to find the resources to put the package together.
