Diana's Life In An Audible Nutshell.......1999-01-03

So unique!!! Not overly narrated, this four-sided "anthology" is a collection of speeches, stories, ceremonies and sermons spoken by Diana, her family and acquaintences; beginning with her birth and ending with her death. Besides Diana, herself, we hear from the Queen as a young woman and present-day; also, President and Mrs. Clinton, Nelson Mandella, Mother Theresa, and many others. We also hear a story from Diana's second cousin, which is humorous and interesting, but I didn't entirely understand why it was included--thus the four stars, instead of five. This collection is absolutely enjoyable to listen to over and over again and leaves the listener wanting to hear more!

As with all my books on Diana, I have read this many, many times. "The Prologue" of this book reads like a fairy tale: "Once upon a time, not very long ago, a beautiful young woman married a handsome prince. He was the most eligible bachelor in the world. She - quite literally - was the girl next door."

This is an extremely well written book about the late Diana, Princess oof Wales. This is one book which can be read and enjoyed by everyone. One can read this book in thirty or forty-five minutes easily. The young people will enjoy it not only because it is well written and easy to understand but because its pictures are in color which is attractive to them.

The marriage which was dubbed "a fairy tale" was anything but a fairy tale. Diana found a way to use her position and privlege to give love and hope to millions of people in need. Whether embracing a baby with AIDS, holding the hands of a leper, or comforting the dying, Diana opened her heart to the world, and the world received her with deep and enduring affection.

Indeed Diana was a princess who did not need a palace to be a true princess.

Strong early book by Jayne Krentz.......2006-04-27

In some ways this book has a very dated plot - it was written in the 70s and it apparently the way to a woman's heart was to behave like a caveman. However, Jenna comes across as a very strong woman and at times seems more puzzled than overwhelmed by Adam's take-charge ways.

You see, Jenna is a close friend of Adam's brother Nat and Nat wants to present a fait accompli by marrying without his brother messing with the marriage. His real fiance wouldn't stand a chance against Adam, but everyone knows that Jenna could stand toe-to-toe against anyone.

Too bad that when Adam meets Jenna he instantly realizes that she is totally wrong for his brother and he's willing to do anything to get her to realize that she belongs to him - and as punishment for her lie he's going to make her admit that she'd do anything for him.

Times have changed once again and the idea of pushing for no-strings love is dishonorable for a man rather than edgy and sexy. However there are some great scenes in this book, such as Jenna's defense of Adam from a teenage vixen, and a casual mention of a marriage breaking up because of jobs in different cities. The sexual and marital habits of the 70s and 80s were not the best way to arrange love and marriage and the author humorously points out that caveman ways had something over bloodless attraction.

Wisdom in a troubled time..........2006-06-16

The phenomena of making contact with the heavenly realms and to those who reside in Spirit is fast becoming more common place as mankind evolves, almost to the point where it will not seem such a phenomena for much longer. If we consider this topic without the filters of some foregone conclusions about the world, why would it seem so odd that those who are in Spirit would not want to reach back across the divide and aid us? Why does it seem that many would ignore the messages being given simply because they themselves have not had the experience of speaking to the realms of Spirit? These messages are meant for our growth, our education, and in some cases, even the prevention of needless bloodshed.
Marcia McMahon's ability to reach the heavenly realms in a process called channeling is not truly an oddity. It is something neither invented nor contrived. Regardless of your own foregone conclusions about this ability, open your mind wide enough to read the words of her book With Love from Diana, Queen of Hearts. When you have finished the book, then decide if you can ignore the words given to Marcia from Diana about the plight of the Mid-East situation. The concern of those in Spirit is echoed so well in Diana's own and the suggestions offered by Diana through Marcia well may aid the world in this "troubled time".
So why has Diana connected with Marcia? Besides the fact that her own children still reside in this world and would be affected by those things going on here, she was always concerned for the world at large. She became the Princess of people's hearts because of her humanitarian nature and willingness to extend herself to those ignored by the masses. But as Diana herself says "We in Spirit see more than you on Earth, and we can feed in projections to a machine, which resembles your computers. We take the information and see, literally, those bombs (nuclear bombs) going off! It's not a pleasant picture, and so we work round the clock to save the planet Earth from her own war games. And we do this in the name of love, that all will one day learn to live in love instead of hate, fear and ignorance. One world, one government, under God with malice towards none and unity amongst the nations. I am Diana, Ambassador for peace for the nations, All my love in a troubled time." Would not our own loved ones who have passed on not wish for us to live as Diana has stated?
If the doubt should assail you that Marcia has contrived this work, I personally stand as a witness to her work. Diana has used many voices from many areas of the world since her death. I am but one of those myself. Marcia is the one who has been given words by Diana to aid in the international conflict going on in the Mid-East. Marcia's work for Diana is one of being a "voice in the wilderness". However, Diana's words to another person who may hear her voice sheds some light upon what we all can do for the uplifting of the world. She speaks also to Robert Murray, a man also gifted with the spiritual ear, and Marcia shares this correspondence in her book on page 163: "I wish to impose upon you and your family to spread the message around. Many people feel that they cannot do anything about world peace. It is very true that people everywhere in the world feel hopeless when they think of doing anything about world peace.... They don't do anything but give up and wring their collective hands and bemoan the fate of injured and dying children, I tell them they can help. They don't need to march, spill their own blood, and lie in front of a tank or anything dramatic. All concerned people can get involved even if it is in a very small way. Once people are aware of what they can do, there will be a ground swell of action and reaction, They can write, phone, or email elected officials to tell them how they feel about a specific political decision. If the officials have done something good, then congratulate them and encourage them to do more. The key is to have each person do something positive and to feel good inside as they get involved."
Truly, if you turn yourself away from reading With Love From Diana, Queen of Hearts you miss an important document that offers not only a historical perspective of the Mid-East crisis, but also the hopeful solutions offered. You will miss the words of Mother Theresa (Yes, there are messages from her in here as well!) and Diana to the world, not only as given to Marcia, but to others who have heard from Diana. But most importantly, you deny yourself the right to decide for yourself what the phenomena of speaking to the spiritual realms can mean for our world. Do you seriously wish to risk that?

Must reading for "intellectuals".......2007-03-16

This is one of those books that's tough to read "just once";there are no dull spots-or characters in it.For anyone who loves reading about boxing characters,you can debate endlessly about which colorful character in this terrific book makes the most impact;teachers in any field should put this book in their required reading lists.Two of the chapters in this classic are devoted to Freddie Brown and Ray Arcel;seeing them in Roberto Duran's corner was like seeing my grandparents at my Bar Mitzvah.

I picked this up on a recommendation from a friend who's into boxing. That's the last time I ever ask him for advice. I found in a used bookstore on a recent visit overseas to Prague.

While its obvious Mr. Fried has knowledge. he doesn't know how craft a project that makes you want to keep turning the page. Its just information. His book has all the depth and warmth of the back of a trading card. He must have spent months putting this book together but to what end, a boring book.

You want good boxing books try:
Night Train. The Sonny Liston Story. By Nick Tosches

And

Finnegan. Self Portrait of A Fighting Man. By Chris Finegan

All the chapters in this book were captivating. Ronald Fried shows that the most interesting and knowledgeable people in boxing are the trainers. The chapters on Whitey Bimstein and Charley Goldman truly give a flavor of New York when Stillman's gym was still the epicenter of boxing.

If you appreciate A. J. Liebling, then you'll be delighted by Fried's important book. He clearly has a great passion for his subject, and it comes through. He captures the lingo and the feel of an earlier era with precision and subtlety.

This book was a much needed one. There is loads of information on classical westerns, but even when it is not a favourite genre nowadays, its influence is still there. This book tries to cover that gap and opens the way for other related studies about the "American Genre par Excellence"

This book is disappointing. While it may help a college student or other really new person grasp some of the concepts of organizing it is not useful to practioners.

The Midwest Academy used to have a very good training manual covering many issues. As the book got slicker looking the information got worse.

Get Shel Trapp's old Basics of Organizing instead - much more useful, and free on the internet.

A real good 2D/3D computer graphics foundation........2006-04-13

After I have bought this book for 10 years, I am still refers to it occasionally for implementing certain graphics features in my software applications such as charting.

This book provides real programming in 2D and 3D the classics way using nothing more but merely math algorithm. Although this book is destinated for MS-DOS environment, no DirectX tutorial within, with knowledge of classics 2D and 3D descriptions from this book, you can be sure of, porting to any new environment is not a problem...because you owns the root.

This is still a good intro book.......2003-11-20

I owned this book for a while but I didn't actually pick it up and start reading it until a few weeks ago... people will complain that this book is outdated and blah blah... well those people are people who want to be spoon fed everything and have no creativity... if you have any kind of brain, this book is an awesome intro to 3d graphics... just check out my site http://members.rogers.com/vetro

I started coding a 3d graphics engine... I had to improvise, but the techniques are all based on the last half of this book

A very good intro for rookies.......2003-04-09

This book is a very good intro for 2D and 3D programming. The source code is simple and easy to understand. It lacks some things, like bitmap rotation, but no book is complete. The code can be compiled with the Watcon 11.0 compiler or Open Watcon compiler with some minor changes.

Best intro to 2D game programming.......2003-01-28

The first half of the book is simply great. With the help of
this book , I 've written a complete VGA library in assembly.

The quality of the illustrations on 3D concepts like cross products , however , is too low and doesn't help to understand the material.

But the rest is truly amazing (André even covers the Pentium's FPU processor).

I'd say that is a very general overview of Global Leadership and more than 50% of the book is about general Leadership, concepts that you'd find in any leadership book.

Realistic view of development as an expat.......2007-08-21

This book is valuable for two key insights. First, it highlights the difficulties with global development. It is very difficult and expensive to send promising leaders abroad. Many execs fail abroad. Those that succeed find their organizations back home aren't ready to utilize their new talents. This is a grim reminder of a key roadblock to corporate and personal success in global business.

The second key insight is the difference in types of assignments for various points of an exec's career. Early on working on global teams and global projects in enough. The next level of depth comes from exposure assignments of multiple months. Tactical exposure works, because it unrealistic for someone to make a deep dive into another culture in just a few months. The top level of global development requires multiple years to make an extended contribution alogn with a deeper understanding of global issues. Explaining these levels of development make this a great resource for managers looking for a guide to their own development.

Excellent , practical book for global executives.......2004-10-22

Because of lectures on how to prepare to be a global executive, I have read several books on this subject and highly recommend this one.
The authors have performed extensive research on big multinational companies and were able to come up with a model that makes sense and is easy to understand and put into practice. The model is based on 4 sets of competences: inquisitiveness, perspective, character and savvy. After each set of competences, they use the example of an actual successful executive as a model.
In my opinion, their model is even better than the widely known model from Terence Brake in THE GLOBAL LEADER: CRITICAL FACTORS FOR CREATING THE WORLD CLASS ORGANIZATION.
